Yet Another Reason Newt is Toast

I don’t know why Newt Gingrich even thinks he has the remotest chance of winning a GOP presidential primary, even less of becoming President. It must be his grandiose narcissism that distorts his reality assessment.
In case you need one more reason to not vote for Newt Gingrich, here’s Reason No. xxx:

Gingrich — who urges fiscal discipline for America — owes as much as $500,000 to Tiffany’s. [Source]

If, God forbid, I were Newt’s wife (no. 3), I’d check my jewelry box ’cause I doubt those Tiffany’s baubles went all to her. This is Wife No. 3 with whom Newt carried on an extramarital affair while he was still married to Wife No. 2, whom he cold-heartedly informed he wanted a divorce while she was in her hospital bed.
None of this really matters because a Zogby Poll of May 24, 2011 showed that support for the Newt had sunk to near-zero among Republican voters. That’s a steep fall because only 3 weeks ago a state-by-state opinion poll had Gingrich in the 30s and 40s when placed in a hypothetical contest against Barack Obama.
As Marjorie Haun of puts it, despite Gingrich’s extramarital affair and a likability deficit, it was not until he broke Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment, “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican” — belittling Congressman Paul Ryan’s “Path to Prosperity” budget plan as “Right-wing social engineering” — that he spiraled into popular oblivion.
I hope he stays there.

  1. Newt should just stay at home with Calista, instead of flapping his gums…
That jewelry bill at Tiffany has doubled in just the last month…

  2. this guy is dangerous,he has the same goal as obama, what is worse the “Establishment” GOP wants him or someone they can mold to the same goals. There is a video called “The Real Newt Gingrich” part one, that would send shivers down your spine.

  3. “valley forge” by newt gingrich is a very good book. he should probably stay in the private sector and remain an author…

  4. I’d never vote for Newt….and it won’t be an issue since he hasn’t a chance of winning at all…

  5. I’m not impressed by his lack of personal financial discipline, but on the other hand, I think we need to be very careful about falling into the “hate the rich” pathology of the left. This is far from his only problem, though, and when combined with his other issues, they have effectively put his campaign at a standstill.

    • Russet,
You seem to have missed the point of this post. It’s not about hating the rich, nor is it about hating Newt — assuming he’s rich, which he isn’t, or he wouldn’t have an outstanding debt of half a million dollars at Tiffany’s. It’s about Newt’s HYPOCRISY: He preaches the conservative principle of fiscal prudence but doesn’t practice it himself.
