DREAM Act fails:
Yesterday, Demonrats failed to muster the 60 votes needed to proceed with the proposed DREAM Act, effectively ending the latest push to provide a pathway for U.S. citizenship for illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children. The vote was 55 to 41.
Don’t Ask Don’t Tell passes:
Legislation to repeal the controversial 17-year-old “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy banning gays from serving openly in the military cleared the major 60-vote hurdle in the Senate on Saturday, all but ensuring the House-passed measure will become law. The vote was 63 to 33, with help from RINOs.
