Who’s behind the tsunami of social media and blog censorship?

From Art Moore, “Memo Reveals Soros-Funded Social-Media Censorship Plan,” WND, August 20, 2018:

The recent wave of censorship of conservative voices on the internet by tech giants Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Apple mirrors a plan concocted by a coalition of George Soros-funded, progressive groups to take back power in Washington from President Trump’s administration.

confidential, 49-page memo for defeating Trump by working with the major social-media platforms to eliminate “right wing propaganda and fake news” was presented in January 2017  by Media Matters founder David Brock at a retreat in Florida with about 100 donors, the Washington Free Beacon reported at the time.

On Monday, the Gateway Pundit blog noted the memo’s relationship with recent moves by Silicon Valley tech giants to “shadow ban” conservative political candidates and pundits and remove content.

The Free Beacon obtained a copy of the memo, “Democracy Matters: Strategic Plan for Action,” by attending the retreat.

The memo spells out a four-year agenda that deployed Media Matters along with American Bridge, Shareblue and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) to attack Trump and Republicans.

The strategies are impeachment, expanding Media Matters’ mission to combat “government misinformation,” ensuring Democratic control of the Senate in the 2018 midterm elections, filing lawsuits against the Trump administration, monetizing political advocacy, using a “digital attacker” to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and damage Republicans, and partnering with Facebook to combat “fake news.”

Quashing ‘fake news’ with ‘mathematical precision’

The Free Beacon in its January 2017 story said Brock sought to raise $40 million in 2017 for his organizations.

The document claims Media Matters and far-left groups have “access to raw data from Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites” so they can “systemically monitor and analyze this unfiltered data.”

“The earlier we can identify a fake news story, the more effectively we can quash it,” the memo states. “With this new technology at our fingertips, researchers monitoring news in real time will be able to identify the origins of a lie with mathematical precision, creating an early warning system for fake news and disinformation.”

Media Matters met with Facebook, which boasts some 2 billion members worldwide, to discuss how to crack down on fake news, according to the memo.

The social media giant was provided with “a detailed map of the constellation of right-wing Facebook pages that had been the biggest purveyors of fake news.”

Brock’s memo also says Media Matters gave Google “the information necessary to identify 40 of the worst fake new sites” so they could be banned from Google’s advertising network.

The Gateway Pundit pointed out that in 2016, Google carried out that plan on the Gateway Pundit blog and other conservative sites, including Breitbart, the Drudge Report, Infowars, Zero Hedge and Conservative Treehouse.

Facebook, meanwhile has changed its newsfeed algorithm, ostensibly to combat “fake news,” causing a precipitous decline in traffic for many conservative sites.

President Donald Trump himself was affected, with his engagement on Facebook dropping by 45 percent.

A study in June by Gateway Pundit found Facebook had eliminated 93 percent of the traffic of top conservative news outlets.

Western Journal, in its own study, found that while left-wing publishers saw a roughly 2 percent increase in web traffic from Facebook following the algorithm changes, conservative sites saw a loss of traffic averaging around 14 percent.

‘Totalitarian impulse’ of the left

President Trump’s 2020 campaign manager, Brad Parscale, charged last week the giants of Silicon Valley are stifling free speech, particularly conservative speech, manifesting the “inherent totalitarian impulse” of the left….

On Aug. 6,  WND reported, Facebook, YouTube and Apple banned commentator Alex Jones and his Infowars website within hours of each other.

Last month, WND reported moderate Muslims and counter-terrorist activists were increasingly being restricted by Silicon Valley, while terrorist content remains on social-media platforms, according to researchers.

Trump campaign chief Parscale said last week the banning of Jones “will inevitably lead to the silencing of those with far less controversial opinions.”

“What we are seeing in Big Tech is the inherent totalitarian impulse of the Left come into full focus,” Parscale said.

Indeed, what followed the censorship of Alex Jones and InfoWars is WordPress’ take-down of blogs, including Fellowship of the Minds.

We are the proverbial “canaries in the coal mines” — early warnings of even worse to come.

First they came for Dr. James Tracy, and I did not speak out because I was not James Tracy.

Then they came for Alex Jones and InfoWars, and I did not speak out because I was not Alex Jones.

Then they came for Fellowship of the Minds, American Everyman, Chemtrails Planet, Cinderella’s Broom, Dutchsinse’s blog, Saboteur365, To Be Free, and others. I did not speak out because I was not one of them.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Time to wake up, Americans, before they come for you.

  1. Words cannot express how much I despise the evil Soros…

    • Amen. How is it that he continues to operate the world over? Why is it that people aren’t insulted by a megalomaniac who thinks the world should march to his drum?

  2. Ultimately I think its social/cultural Marxists, and a blend of atheists, hysterical lefties and vacuous nihilists. Not to mention a hefty sprinkling of the chosen tribe. Everywhere, the full force of evilness is running rampant in the world, on so many levels all around us. Christianity & Western man & women are under attack, These are the last days…

    • I think he keeps on keeping on because-MONEY. He can buy peoples’ loyalties at will, and thus change the course of the inevitable. GOD I hate that!!

  3. Yes, I totally agree on the culprits. I remember reading of the Brock/Soros plan when it first broke. In a way this is more evidence of what I keep saying. They have already established THEIR rule. The only question is whether or not we will stop it.

They are all claiming to be “private” entities and, therefore, not responsible to the public at large. Obongo already established that they are free to lie to us. His whole eight years was one long setup for this.

In fact, he’s very much still involved in this seditious anti-government that is controlling the “deep state” and the MSM. There doesn’t seem to be a day that goes by without a new buzzword or catch phrase being manufactured to further isolate us from our roots.

No matter who is sitting in the office of President, they will continue to rule as if their coup is a fait accompli.

  4. Amazon in on it the random banning, too. Bans gun book yet won’t say which guidelines it violated.

“Amazon banned the sale of a gun book on Wednesday night for an unexplained violation of the company’s rules.

The listing for The Liberator Code Book: An Exercise in Freedom of Speech, which had been available on Amazon since Aug. 1, was removed from Amazon’s website. The web address where the book had previously been listed now redirects to an error page. The web address where a Kindle book titled The Liberator: An .STL File Published as a Book also now redirects to an error page.

Both books had been published through Amazon’s self-publication services. Amazon told the Washington Free Beacon it was banning publication of the books and their sale through their website.”

    • Yeah, my reading of Brock’s little plan was that they would simply “assume” the role of dictator. After all, who will stop a “private” enterprise from censoring. I also note that when its mentioned, there seems to be universal agreement that “private” entities can’t really “censor”, only the government.

This ties in with Slick Willy’s destruction of the “Fairness Doctrine” for broadcasters. They are under no obligation to provide a platform for conflicting ideas. Couple that with Obongo’s blessing to lie, and you have total disinformation.

    • Seeing your comment I had to respond. Recently I ordered 4 #WalkAway T-shirts on Amazon. The very next day I got email from them saying that many of my recent posts had violated their guidelines. I had not made many recent posts at all, and in fact had only posted 4 positive reviews of purchases over the last few months. I asked them to please tell me which of my posts, specifically, offended them. No answer. Then I find out they are allied with the SPLC, and demand they close my account immediately. They stall, telling me of all I will lose out on should I close my account, none of it matters to me, and I again demand they close my account. They stall for days, and finally give me confirmation it’s closed. Then they try to get me to come back. No sale. Then they send me email claiming someone has tried to fraudulently access my account, but they protected me. Yeah? My CLOSED account you verified closed??? That one? While this is ongoing I began getting a serious barrage of calls from unknown and untraceable numbers, 8-10 calls a day and then they email me saying that upon checking my account they did not find any of the offending posts they first contacted me about, and wanting me to come back. Well they didn’t have to check, they KNEW, and I told them so. I also told them I will not do business with any company allied with the SPLC hate group, or any company that imposes it’s Leftist politics upon me as the price of doing business with them, and that is the end of the matter.
I wished them an acceptable day. I’m done with those Leftist fascists. I would encourage all other conservatives to dump them as well, before they come after you the way they did me.

  5. I also found this not too long ago: https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-24/obama-signs-countering-disinformation-and-propaganda-act-law Showing that obomber approved, again through one of those scuzzbag NDAAs, the department of propaganda, and what was it billary said some time back? Oh yeah: yournewswire.com/hillary-clinton-promises-to-shut-down-conspiracy-theory-websites/

Folks do need to wake up and no longer stand for these gestapo tactics, even schools in the rogue valley (formerly humdrum where nothing happens) are turning into places that lock down with the push of a button for “emergencies”, literally, like a bioweapons lab in a sci-fi movie, as I’ve heard recently. If its happening there, then how many other places is it happening in? The frog is boiling, so to speak.

    • I hate to ask but is there really a difference between them “winning” an election and them running everything from a basement in Kalorama? It seems to me that they have simply redoubled their efforts to destroy Western Civilization since Obongo moved across town.

The whole filthy bunch is right where they want to be.

      • Good to see you’re still around Lophatt, also by the way that ummy video downloader, come to find out isn’t so free anymore, there is a better program in the form of youtubedownloaderhd.com, just FYI.

Running from the basement, indeed… that would be the 9th level of hell, no?

        • Thanks, I’m not sure I understand your reference, re the “video downloader”.

          • As I recall you were wondering in a post a couple of months back about how to save youtube videos, just in case youtube decided to censor them, and I had suggested ummy, at the time. Just thought in cas eyou ran into trouble (ummy just stopping working, like it seems to like to do) that I’d mention this one that seems to not have any restrictions.

            • OK, thanks. I’d forgotten (sorta). I really don’t have a good sense for how this infrastructure all works together. It’s my fault. I’m old and I don’t have enough grey matter left to waste on a lot of technical jargon.

My pea brain says “why doesn’t somebody invest in some servers and simply “host” other people’s videos?”. It’s probably a lot more complicated (I’m sure), but if they can do it, why can’t we?

It’s the same with the websites. What (precisely) are they providing? If it is simply storage, anyone can do that. In other words, what prevents an ordinary person from simply setting up a site and hosting videos and other content? What I’m looking for is a system that is immune to what we just saw here.

These current providers have simply assumed the authority over what content they will “allow” on “their” systems. So removing them from the equation could only be a good thing.

Anyway, thanks for remembering. It just seems to me that anything that one of these “hosts” is currently doing someone else can do likewise.

              • “My pea brain says “why doesn’t somebody invest in some servers and simply “host” other people’s videos?”

My pea brain asks why won’t some super-rich conservatives/Christians invest in some servers to host both blogs and videos, and social media platforms like Facebook? But then, the super-rich probably fear the Voice of the People too.

                • I am seriously ignorant of what the basic requirements for this are. When I was working we had servers. One or two held a tremendous amount of data and were “relatively” cheap. I’m assuming that there is a charge for an IP address as well.

Is the primary rub IT services or moderation or something? I guess I’m trying to get a feel for what it would cost to put together something independent. Users could subscribe or something.

It may be that the cost is prohibitive. I simply don’t know. Put another way, what does one buy when they run their site through a “platform”?

I’ve seen mention of one or two other sites that host blogs. Somehow they are able to do this. I’m assuming its through advertising. Again, I don’t know the details of this.

I understand the issue of Google or some others playing with the algorithms to steer traffic away from certain sites and the games played with “defunding”. Again, any other business would be at risk for that sort of behavior.

So obviously, I’m missing something. What makes this particular enterprise so mysterious and different? The current providers appeared on the scene at some point and proceeded to lure in subscribers. Now it appears they have flipped and decided to control information.

                  • I have no idea what it takes or how much it costs to create a web-host server!

                  • CogitoErgoSumantra

Having a server and associated storage space is the easy part. You also need an IP and Domain Name address and two Domain Name Servers to direct browsers to your servers. You need a connection to the Internet that provides robust and reliable service to both you, for administration & stats, and to users for views, downloads and uploads. That requires a great deal of bandwidth and also IT techs on the other end to ensure it all keeps working and to prevent baddies from attacking and “taking down” or altering your stuff. You have to pay monthly or yearly fees for all of these, more if you need help designing/maintaining your site or its content… There are also associated fees for plug-ins and apps to make your website work the way you want/need.

And of course, the ISP connecting you, the company from whom you lease your IP address and Domain name, the company hosting your site and storage, the DNS servers, and the backbone connection to the Internet ALL have their own agendas and ideologies that today seem to govern who and what they will or won’t allow on their servers and through their connections etc. And of course there are individuals working for them who may also decide through their own personal demented delusions to decide *on their own* who and what will be allowed…

              • real.video is a conservative site. It’s free and is where Infowars and other patriots have moved to to post their videos. Check it out.

              • I doubt theres any pea brains around here Lophatt, and it is strange indeed, but then for the past few centuries or so the churches have been far too passive and pulling punches, or resisting in the wrong fashion, it seems. For example in the rogue valley the new age garbage has gone full-on insane, I hear there’s even supposed to be some drug-pushing, (LSD, etc.) witchcraft-pushing psycho aiming to do the “biggest magical ritual ever” over in Ashland, and I would hope the churches would put a stop to that psychosis. (See here: https://www.facebook.com/events/2196662020348165/ I would request prayers from any readers finding the time to do so, that this insanity would fail, and their evil schemes would be exposed for what they really are, please do inform whoever else you can to stand against this.)

I also wonder if this isn’t something that the devil worshipers are aiming for? To elaborate, they might be intending to drive the Christian folk off, so that we willingly are removed from the “pop” services, and thus no longer good for witnessing or influencing, and once other services are started up that are separate, sending jack-booted thugs to shut them down individually, (Much less muss and fuss than taking over a sizable corporate data center, I would suspect.) should they pose any real “risk”, this would also give them free reign over the popular services, which would no longer have any resistance, and their conditioning schemes would go on unhindered.

Not to say that we shouldn’t have some bastions/forts, but rather that if we hole up they might try for a “jericho” type tactic, so to speak, (Collect the enemy, then nuke ’em or whatever. I am emphatically Not someone who believes in matyrdom, especially not mass martyrdom, as a viable option for spreading the gospel, because its easy enough for people to ignore death, [look at how people behaved with waco, yes they were a neo-gnostic cult based off 7th day adventism, but the example suffices] and once you’re dead you don’t get any backsies to spread the gospel among those that really need it, the physically alive who are still in peril.) better to have a walled city but also have people spread out all over the place, you know?

Don’t sell yourself short though Lophatt, you’ve got a functional mind, very clearly, and that’s never obsolete, besides, the technology is just becoming (intentionally, I’d say) more idiotic, and with less & less end-user control, with each passing “upgrade”. Take heart.

                • Pardon, for my “for example” up there, I had also meant to include that I don’t see much resistance to this kind of thing myself, in fact it seems a good portion of churches these days even openly adopt this kind of garbage such as the “bethel” church in CA, and the “christalignment” cult, per: https://www.nowtheendbegins.com/christalignment-bethel-church-using-satanic-destiny-reading-cards-deceive-followers-false-prophecies/ then theres the “new apostolic reformation”, the push of BDSM stuff into churches (called “domestic discipline”) etc. all the while we don’t see much in the way of resistance to these things, and what resources we do have in book form anyway, seem outdated a bit, and obscure by this point, (IE kingdom of the cults, Larson’s book of cults by Bob Larson, occult ABC by Kurt Koch, etc. Which I’d recommend getting, if you can find them, the info may be old or inaccurate in some cases, but they are good resources otherwise.)

I do run across web pages still, however, that do a good job of whacking that kind of insanity, (did you notice the “serpent seed” and branhamism garbage that was showing up in comments here before wordpress axed FOTM?) so that much is encouraging in that there are still those that are doing what they can to push back against the vileness. Gotta get more people willing to do James 4:7 “Submit unto God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

This is part of why I appreciate FOTM, no push-overs here, and theres people willing to do something about these kinds of issues, and get the information out there.

Per the video downloader, I’ve been happy with a free one I use as a browser plug-in called Video DownloadHelper; it’s available for Chrome and Firefox (I use the latter; Chrome seems a memory hog to me). It gives me the option of downloading directly or thru the plug-on, as the original video or processed to reduce size or format, etc. So far, it’s worked flawlessly, especially since the converter part became a free upgrade when I upgraded Firefox to its latest “Quantum” iteration.

  6. Funy how you never see a David Brock die mysteriously in his hotel room or walking in his neighborhood.

  7. It is frustrating, seeing how one sided everything is. How many laws are being broken by the left with no consequences. I am happy we still have a place to share our voices after wordpress “felt” we needed to be silenced. Today is a good day to be a deplorable. Thank you for all the hard work to keep us together. You are appreciated!

    • Yeah, I think that’s what I mean by them just “assuming” authority. It is the fact that we have no effective way to resist that makes them successful. They ignore laws they don’t like and “impose” new ones of their own making.

I remember when the “news” for example, was at least quasi-regulated. The idea was that it was a “public service” and more or less a monopoly. Therefore, it was subject to regulation lest it become an echo-chamber for special interests as it is now.

The truth is that they are pushing a moral and societal model that is inconsistent with Christianity and traditional Western Civilization. They are trying to social engineer Satanism into the fabric of the world. If people felt strongly enough about their faith and beliefs this could not happen.

  8. Too bad either the SS or Gestapo didn’t throw Soros in with the other jews he betrayed during WW2 and sent to the death camps. I’m about Soros’ age and hope I live long enough to see the sorry bastard croak. He’s a sociopath of the worst order and incapable of relating to the misery he’s caused all of his life.

    • I’d VERY much like to see him arrested, prosecuted and convicted for any dozen of the illegal things he’s done, and I’m sure there are many dozens of provable-in-court examples. All we need is about a hundred,or two,SERIOUSLY Constitutional minded Attorneys and Judges who would aspire to be among the few modern heroes who would save the United States of America. It COULD well be a suicide mission, but OH,the GLORY if it should SUCCEED!

      • CogitoErgoSumantra

It would seem the International Criminal Court in The Hague could convict him of a few crimes, but I think they tend to be very biased toward liberal ideologies.

In the U.S., the ACLJ would stand a good chance of getting a conviction against Soros for his work against the country, but they also have their favored agendas and likely wouldn’t take on the case… I actually posed an idea to them about busting PBS/CPB for their unbelievable bias against Creationism and God (years ago; it’s gotten worse since then) but they just poo-pooed my suggestion.

Either way, Soros would just stall the proceedings (unless they were criminal counts, but even then to some extent), at least until he dies. That’s what $Billions can do for you in the justice system. But even then, it could at least shutter his organization and followers, and the public informed of what he’s been doing and pushing.

    • Well, that’s a picture of him steepling his fingers and going “Excellent!” (à la Mr. Burns from The Simpsons) but you get the idea.

  9. If the left wasn’t up to no good, they wouldn’t be silencing others. What do they fear? Soros thinks of himself as a God. I would love to live long enough to see him lose every dime. Many countries would love to see his demise.
I think they have forgotten about karma.
Funny that only the right has conspiracy theories.

    • I think there’s enough crimes with blood on Soros’s hands to get him executed in short order,if we just had a few members of our Justice System who didn’t fear life-threatening repercussions. There WAS a time when such fears took a back seat to acting in the best interests of the Greater Good.(I wish I’d studied Law instead of Automobile Mechanics.)

  11. I note on American Thinker an article about Facebook now marking conservative content as spam as a means of censoring it. I know where they got the idea, from Disqus, which is the comments format on most conservative news sites, and a leftist backdoor into them for censorship. Disqus did this to me many many times, declaring my posts spam when they were clearly nothing of the sort, and when I began posting that they were doing this they banned me from every site they control comments on. I am very far from alone in this, a great many voices are saying the same thing about Disqus, but you have to hunt for them, such is the censorship of them. Note the Disqus will mark your conservative views spam, while freely permitting floods of Google jobs spam.
