It is the
VETERAN,
Not the preacher,
Who has given us freedom of religion.
It is
The VETERAN,
Not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is
The VETERAN,
Not the blogger,
Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is
The VETERAN,
Not the community organizer,
Who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is
The VETERAN,
Not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is
The VETERAN,
Not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
On this day, Memorial Day, May 30, 2011, all of us at Fellowship of the Minds remember you, who now see God face to face.
Please intercede for us and ask God for His mercy on America.

Happy Memorial Day To Everyone.

  1. To those who gave all, Thank You.
    Semper FI Marines.

  4. Today at our Meeting for Worship, Bill Eastman, a long-retired professor of philosophy/ethics now in his 80’s, recalled that in his day [and mine, I’m 68.5 yrs] it was known as Decoration Day. The name was given in the 1800’s to honour all who had fallen or served, from the Civil War onward. We, the People, went to cemeteries to decorate the graves of the fallen with flowers, and paused to remember all who had served.
We’ve lost too much of our sense of community: can you imagine folks from your neighbourhood doing this trek? As a grade school student I learned –and still remember!– the great songs of WW1 and WW2, and by God we sang them throughout the year! “Keep the Home Fires Burning” indeed!
I was born and raised in Illinois, the “land of Lincoln” and we were not allowed to forget it. What do students do today? Someone help me on this, please.
