We must #BelieveWomen: Child rapist and Hollyweird hero Polanski denies latest rape allegation

From MSN: In an article in Le Parisien on Friday, Valentine Monnier alleged that Polanski raped her violently at a ski chalet in Gstaad, Switzerland, in 1975. The allegation cannot result in any criminal charges because Switzerland’s 20-year statute of limitations has passed.

In a statement issued to Agence-France Presse on Sunday, Polanski’s French attorney, Hervé Témime, said that the filmmaker “most firmly contests the accusation of rape….We are considering taking legal action against this publication.” Témime said Polanski “will not participate in the media trial, and me neither.”

The lawyer added that the allegation “concerns facts that are 45 years old. Never has this accusation been brought to Polanski’s knowledge, and neither to a judicial institution, except for a letter sent to the California prosecutor two years ago, according to Le Parisien.” Témime said that “it’s impossible after so much time to gather all the necessary elements to conduct a [proper] investigation.”

Polanski has been living in exile in France since fleeing the U.S. in 1978, before he could be sentenced after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl. Numerous efforts over the years to resolve the case with Los Angeles prosecutors have gone nowhere, as Polanski has refused to return and submit to U.S. jurisdiction.

In spite of the controversy that has surrounded Polanski for the past decades, he was able to get his new film, “An Officer and a Spy” (“J’accuse”), financed mainly out of France with a budget of $21 million, making it one of the country’s most ambitious films this year. But the new allegation by Monnier has cast cloud over the film’s imminent release in France on Wednesday on more than 500 screens.

On Sunday, the movie’s leading actor, Oscar-winner Jean Dujardin, canceled an appearance on a primetime newscast to promote the film.

On the critical front, “An Officer and a Spy” has been applauded. It world premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize, and has just garnered four European Film Awards nominations. “An Officer and a Spy” has also been bought by distributors in several territories.

What do we expect from Hellywood? Decency? Protecting children from pedophiles? Having moral standards?

That is why I no longer watch anything by Roman Polanski or anything with Meryl Streep in it, including Season 2 of HBO’s “Big Little Lies” even though I had paid a month’s subscription.

Bless you Dr Eowyn, you are absolutely correct. The only way to punish these evil doers is by not supporting their work. Period! Even if you could see a movie they made for free, without having to subscribe or pay a fee to see it . . . just pass up the opportunity.

It’s a good idea to distance ourselves as much as possible from the soul poison emanating from Hollywood. Streep lives here in the Berkshires (there goes the neighborhood). I was buying apples at a local orchard and I asked the owner about pesticides they used. He said they used an eco-friendly system and, presumably as a selling point, added “It was endorsed by Meryl Streep”. She of the “green” cred. I put the apples back

I have always gotten a weird vibe from Meryl Streep. This begins to confirm my discomfort with her.

(((Polanski))), from what I have read, is into some very very dark stuff. Naturally the Hollyweirdos adore him. His inspiring message to them is, do what thou wilt and trust in Satan to protect you. Whenever the MSM mentions the reason he fled the country, they spare us the details: he raped and sodomized a 13 year old girl after first drugging her. At the time I remember reading about it in Time magazine and they downplayed it; it’s just his culture

That is so vile. What kind of evil monster is he? It doesn’t say much for Time magazine, that they would down-play this heinous act by saying “it’s just his culture.”

They said something about it not being uncommon in Romania for men to take much younger women as wives. As if that’s what he had in mind. To him the girl was simply an object to be used for his sexual gratification. He was surprised that they wanted to prosecute him. He was like, so I drugged and raped a young girl, doesn’t everybody? Hollywood you know. They live in absolute darkness, their own self-referential unreality bubble

Although it may seem unfair . . . any man who would rape a 13 year old, I believe is capable of committing any other rape. It is unimportant that he has ever “heard” of these allegations before.

It’s not unfair at all. If a confirmed child rapist is accused of rape by another child we should take the accusation seriously. What difference does it make if he hasn’t heard about it? His lawyer is playing word games to distract from the salient point. It’s what they do
