Unbelievable: 22-year-old man in Oregon sentenced to just 14 months for raping three teens

Bonus: The rapist could be eligible for a reduced sentence or work release!

KATU reports that 22-year-old Joseph Myers was sentenced to just 14 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to raping three teens. He was originally charged with 12 counts of third-degree rape, one count of third-degree sodomy and three counts of unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor.

The perp’s father called Keizer Police to report that his son had sex with “half a dozen underage girls.”

Read the full KATU story here.

The Statesman-Journal has more details:

“The Keizer Police Department to conduct a months-long investigation into Myers, eventually uncovering the disclosures of six different underage girls. An indictment was later filed naming three different victims.

According to court records, Myers targeted young runaways and would supply the teens with marijuana.

He met one of his victims when she was 15. Another was 14. A third was 13 years old when Myers first had sexual intercourse with her. Due to the victims being under 16, the acts were considered third-degree rape.”

I’m sure this punishment will really teach this guy a lesson.

Yeah, Oregon. As I understand it rapists and pimps are held in high regard in prison, pedophiles not so much. So he may have an easy time of it and maybe released after six months or so. I had a client whose boyfriend, father of her daughter, beat and kicked her so viciously that she suffered permanent brain damage. He would have killed her if a neighbor hadn’t called the police. Her life was ruined and she became and on again/off again drug addict. He got 15 months and did 8 or 9. And he was allowed visitation with the… Read more »

And Dizzy Lizzie Warren gets “elected” here with a reliable 65+% of the vote every time. The morons, er, voters in this state would elect a rubber stamp if it had a (D) next to it’s name on the ballot. Oh wait, they did… Rubber Richie Neal, who’s now been ensconced in DC for over 30 years. But I digress. Being a Trump supporter here is like being Don Quixote every damn day, week after week, year after year. I made the *mistake* of wearing my MAGA hat into a restaurant last week. Was seated quickly but then ignored for… Read more »

The thing with MA is that it’s small enough so that it kinda sorta “works” as a socialist nanny state. It’s not CA although ideologically similar. The quality of life is fairly good here but then I live in the Berks so my perspective is skewed. I avoid the rest of the state, especially the Boston area, like it’s radioactive. Unless I’m going to Salisbury Beach; then I go up into New Hampster and come in through the back door

Hahahahahaha!!! That’s funny. I’m a Western MA native myself, so I totally get it. I hit southwestern NH whenever I have to make a purchase over $200 – the tax savings far outweigh the extra miles on the truck. What scares me though is all the MA libs moving there. They’ll turn NH blue inside of 10 years if left unchecked. My personal *avoid at all costs* place is NY State ever since I was stopped by a state police roadblock and given a $50 ticket for a “safety violation” (no seatbelt). Fine, I’ll pay that over and over and… Read more »

Yes, Andy “Lucifer” Cuomo, friend of “refugees”. He’ll give you another alright, and another. Vote for Andy, now bend over. It’s a good thing I don’t live in NY, if I had to listen to that annoying Bolshevik bastard every day I’d go back to drinking heavily. If you ever go into a restaurant in this neck of the woods wear a Bernie hat. You’ll be seated immediately

Regarding driving as a “privilege” not a “right”, I don’t have access to it now, but it is supposed to be constitutional to drive without restrictions. Of course try telling that to a cop who’s pulled you over….

UNLESS… he were a white male conservative Christian Republican over 40. Especially if he were a Trump supporter. Then they’d attack him even if there were no evidence. I’m hoping he learns some new positions in prison those 14 months, but I doubt he’ll do any time in a real prison. Kinda wonder if things would’ve turned out differently had he *not* supplied the girls with pot? Don’t they push that up there? As in, it’s everybody’s legal right to get high for any reason at any time? So, he was *helping* them in a way… according to the drug-addled… Read more »

An Iowa man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday for stealing and burning a church’s rainbow LGBT pride flag. No, Adolfo Martinez did not actually hurt or assault anybody in the process of stealing the flag off the front of the United Church of Christ in Ames and burning it in front of a bar he had been kicked out of last June. Though the 30-year-old did threaten to burn the bar down. And in an interview with Des Moines CBS affiliate KCCI he even confessed to the crime, making it clear (sort of; we’ll get to that)… Read more »

Kinda makes one think he’d have been better-served had he actually gone in there with a thermo-nuclear device and at least have earned his sentence. Now *that* would have been a hate crime.

BTW, burning a fag flag should not be grounds for charging him with arson. NOT when radicals are *protected* by law when they burn Old Glory.

Look, as much as I personally disagree with the act, isn’t burning the US flag (never mind a rainbow flag) protected under The Constitution as freedom of speech?

Asking for a friend.

I don’t know whether this is the time and/or place, but I just want to say *Thank You* to Dr Eowyn for creating and maintaining this forum, this place where folks are free to share ALL rational discussion, opinions, experiences, and yes, even disagreements. The internet would be far better off with more places like this. As a born and bred New Englander, I’ve never been one for sappy, hollow interaction simply for sappy, hollow interaction’s sake. Mom and Dad taught me two things that apply now as they did in my youth, even if it took me a while… Read more »

Well stated sir. Yes indeed, the internet would be better off with more places like this. I have had my share of experience with internet discussion forums and due to the anonymity of online communication they quickly devolve into excrement-slinging insult contests. There is no sense of or desire for consensual resolution, of anything. FOTM, because of it’s environment of basic decency and respect and civility, and it’s foundation of Christian principles, is I think unique. One of a kind. It somehow appeals to the better angels of our nature. We agree to disagree but everyone is allowed to share… Read more »

Not that I condone underage, unmarried sex or “rape” but…I blame liberal progressiveness, the promiscuity of young girls, stupid choices by young men & women brought on by the teachings in our schools, the sexual revolution and lack of God in their lives. These girls were not entirely innocent cheerleaders at the local high school that got raped walking home. These girls were in it for something as well, just bcz they were under 18, 16 or whatever. they were runaways no doubt street smart. Rape? more like quid pro joe. I have a problem with “rape” charges. I have… Read more »

Well, bearing in mind that the legal age of consent varies world wide (even in Canada it was 14 until a conservative government upped it in a fit of prudery) you have to wonder if the girls weren’t at least partly culpable and should have borne some responsibility. Likely the judge acknowledged this.

In this case, and in so many others involving vulnerable young women I have worked with, there is an inherent male/female power differential. One statistic that is worth considering is that nearly half of teen pregnancies are the result of coerced sex by an older male. There are degrees of coercion but many young women without strong natural supports simply lack the ego strength to resist it. While many womyn have learned to weaponize sex and play the system, it is ultimately incumbent on men to behave in an honorable manner. That’s a choice. Mr Myers is probably wondering what… Read more »
