Trust in Government Quiz

Yesterday, the Pew Research Center published the results of its March 11-21 national survey of Americans. It found that 4 out of 5 Americans say they don’t trust Washington to solve their problems, while nearly 1 out of 3 Americans view the US government as a “major threat” to their freedoms. The survey is the basis for the report Distrust, Discontent, Anger and Partisan Rancor.
Pew is inviting us to compare ourselves with the poll’s 2,505 randomly sampled adults by taking a short 11-question quiz. When you finish, you will be able to compare your government satisfaction score with that of the average American, as well as with the scores of many demographic and political groups.
While all the questions are important, for me, two questions in particular make it worthwhile to take the quiz:

  • Question #4 asks if you think Obama is doing an excellent, good, fair, or poor job.
  • Question #10 asks if you think the federal government is a threat to your personal freedom.

I am anti-government, and damn proud of it, too.
I realize there is a need for a certain amount of government, but at the federal level, outside of the military, there should not be more than about ten or twelve government employees.
I define government as “force,” and the larger government becomes, the more forceful and evil it becomes.
Freedom is, after all, inversely proportional to the size of government, and I don’t care which party is running said government.
Ours is now out-of-control.
