California’s Not Dreamin’: This Is the Nightmare of an Obama Second Term

By Roger Hedgecock, former Mayor of San Diego
I live in California. If you were wondering what living in Obama’s 2nd term would be like, wonder no longer. We in California are living there now.
California is a 1-party state dominated by a virulent Democrat Left enabled by a complicit media where every agency of local, county, and state government is run by and for the public employee unions. The unemployment rate is 12%.
California has more folks on food stamps than any other state, has added so many benefits and higher rates to Medicaid that we call it “Medi-Cal.” Our K-12 schools have more administrators than teachers, with smaller classes but lower test scores and higher dropout rates with twice the per-student budget of 15 years ago. Good job, Brownie.
This week, the once and current Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown had to confess that the “balanced” state budget adopted 5 months ago was billions in the red because actual tax revenues were billions lower than the airy-fairy revenue estimates on which the balance was predicated.
After trimming legislators’ perks and reducing the number of cell phones provided to state civil servants, the governor intoned that drastic budget reductions had already hollowed out state programs for the needy, law enforcement and our schoolchildren. California government needed more money.
Echoing the Occupy movement, the governor proclaimed the rich must pay their fair share.
Fair share…?
The top 1% of California income earners currently pays 50% of the state’s income tax.
California has 7 income tax brackets. The top income tax rate is 9.3%, which is slapped on the greedy rich earning at least $47,056 a year. Income of more than $1 million pays the “millionaires’ and billionaires'” surcharge tax rate of 10.3%.
Brown’s proposal would add 2% for income over $250,000. A million-dollar income would then be taxed at 12.3%. And that’s just for the state.
Brown also proposed a .5¢ sales tax increase, which would bring sales taxes (which vary by county) up to 7.75% to as much as 10%. Both tax increases would be on the ballot in 2012.
The sales tax increase proposal immediately brought howls of protest from the Left (of Brown!). Charlie Eaton, a sociology grad student at UC Berkeley and leader of the UC Student-Workers Union, said, “We’ve paid enough. It’s time for millionaires to pay.”
At least 5 other ballot measures to raise taxes are circulating for signatures to get on the 2012 ballot in California. The governor’s proposals are the most conservative.
The Obama way doesn’t end with taxes.
The governor and the state legislature continue to applaud the efforts of the California High Speed Rail Authority to build a train connecting Los Angeles and San Francisco. Even though the budget is three times the voter-approved amount, and the first segment will only connect two small towns in the agricultural Central Valley. But hey, if we build it, they will ride.
And we don’t want to turn down the Obama bullet-train bucks Florida and other states rejected because the operating costs would bankrupt them. Can’t happen here because we’re already insolvent.
If we get into real trouble with the train, we’ll just bring in the Chinese. It worked with the Bay Bridge reconstruction. After the 1989 earthquake, the bridge connecting Oakland and San Francisco was rebuilt with steel made in China. Workers from China too. Paid for with money borrowed from China. Makes perfect sense.
In California, we hate the evil, greedy rich (except the rich in Hollywood, in sports, and in drug dealing). But we love people who have broken into California to eat the bounty created by the productive rich.
Illegals get benefits from various generous welfare programs, free medical care, free schools for their kids, including meals, and of course, instate tuition rates and scholarships too. Nothing’s too good for our guests.
To erase even a hint of criticism of illegal immigration, the California Legislature is considering a unilateral state amnesty. Democrat State Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes has proposed an initiative that would bar deportation of illegals from California.
Interesting dilemma for Obama there. If immigration is exclusively a federal matter, and Obama has sued four states for trying to enforce federal immigration laws he won’t enforce, what will the President do to a California law that exempts California from federal immigration law?
California is also near fulfilling the environmentalist dream of deindustrialization.
After driving out the old industrial base (auto and airplane assembly, for example), air and water regulators and tax policies are now driving out the high-tech, biotech and even Internet-based companies that were supposed to be California’s future.
The California cap-and-trade tax on business in the name of reducing CO2 makes our state the leader in wacky environmentalism and guarantees a further job exodus from the state.
Even green energy companies can’t do business in California. Solyndra went under, taking its taxpayer loan guarantee with it.
No job is too small to escape the regulators. The state has even banned weekend amateur gold miners from the historic gold mining streams in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
In fact, more and more of California’s public land is off-limits to recreation by the people who paid for that land. Unless you’re an illegal. Then you can clear the land, set up marijuana plantations at will, bring in fertilizers that legal farmers can no longer use, exploit illegal farm workers who live in hovels with no running water or sanitation, and protect your investment with armed illegals carrying guns no California citizen is allowed to own.
The rest of us only found out about these plantations when the workers’ open campfire started one of those devastating fires that have killed hundreds of people and burned out thousands of homes in California over the last decade.
It’s often said that whatever happens in California will soon happen in your state.
You’d better hope that’s wrong.

  1. You had me reading until it got racist (paragraph 3 I think.)
I live in Ca. and would have liked to hear what you had to say, but I’m not interested in the ramblings of a bigot.

    • Gosh, I read Hedgecock’s entire essay, and NOWHERE did I see any mention of any race — white, black, brown, yellow, chartreuse — even less of racist or racism. You must be a product of California’s govt schools ’cause you sure have difficulties with reading and comprehension!
Frankly, I sure am not interested in the ravings of a reading-challenged scapegoater who sees “raaaacism” any and every where.

      • Hey, tiny!
I just noticed your gravatar says you’re in California, which means you are a product of the California govt school system!
You poor misguided mis-educated brainwashed leftie….

      • ” Good job, Brownie.” That isn’t racist? Looks like someone is not as great at reading comprehension as they thought, eh? I did NOT go to school in California either, thank you very much.

        • You ARE an idiot and a racist who sees race and racism everywhere. By “Brownie,” Roger Hedgecock was referring to California’s Gov. Jerry BROWN.

        • Maybe if you had gone to school in California, or had some knowledge of California politics, you’d be aware of the nickname for MoonBeam, aka Brownie. Looks like someone is not as great at using Google…

    • Hi “Tiny” –
(My God, that is one CUTE, CUTE, CUTE baby you’re showing off!) Enjoy babyhood to the absolute fullest… (with a little luck, you’ll get to be a grandparent some day and then get to enjoy it all over again, less the midnight feedings and diaper changes of course). I’m sorry to hear that you felt Hedgecock’s comments were racist. Honestly, I read the piece twice and the only word or remark that could even be remotely tagged “racist” would be utilization of the governor’s nickname, “Brownie,” stemming from his surname, certainly not from his ethnicity (I mean really, the guy needs to get some sun in a BAD way!)
But, on a serious note, as Americans we’re all in the process of detemining what kind of world / society that your baby will grow to adulthood in. Personally, I have great fears and concerns for my own grandkids. Our government is robbing them of the basic freedoms that we enjoyed as children, and, as parents and grandparents, we’ve allowed this to happen by not being responsible and vigilant (all of us fell asleep at the wheel, and all of us are guilty of greed — period). As a result, too many people in this county have bought into the notion that the government will take care of them, provide for their needs, fulfill their dreams. In short, these people have been brainwashed. All of us need to take sole individual responsibility for ourselves; for our actions, for our reactions, for our dreams and for our destinations. Truly, all that Hedgecock was trying to convey is that our infrastructure — our core — is rotting away because of government abuse.
While I agree that everyone should pay their fair share (whether wealthy or not so wealthy), it’s GOVERNMENT GREED that’s the root of our problem. We’ve been tricked into thinking that the problem lies within ourselves… we’ve been told that we’re racist, we’ve been told that we’re not tolerant of other religions, other sexual orientations, and other ways of life. We’ve been told that we’re killing the planet and killing ourselves. And, the biggest lie that we’ve been told as Americans is that we — as individuals — are literally powerless to change the situation. We’ve been told that we must rely on the government to make decisions FOR us. Weve been told that we’re helpless without intervention from Washington.
I truly believe that the majority of Americans are hard-working, intelligent, resourceful, respectful, tolerant and moral people… people who can come together despite their differences and create stability. But instead of rewarding hard work, intelligence, resourcefulness and toleance, we’re being robbed and punished for it. I mean, have you watched the news lately? The small percentage of bigoted, apathetic, ignorant, abusive and intolerant people in this county seem to get all the press! The sick, the lame, and the lazy appear to be the norm!
Yes, we do have problems with tolerance for one another, but they’re NOT the problems that have crippled our economy and brought us all to our knees. Out of control government spending is the problem and has been throughout countless administrations. THAT’S why we’re broke. THAT’S why the vast majority of Americans are struggling to make ends meet. That’s why we’re well on the road to leaving your sweet little baby —
and my beautiful grandkids — a society that is utterly broke, helpless and completely dysfunctional.
The fact that you’ve taken time out of your “ultra-hectic” mom schedule to comment on this post, tells me that you’re a person who cares deeply about creating a better world for your child. “Tiny,” I’m an old guy and have a gift of seeing reality pretty darned clearly (you’ll have the gift too, right after you have grandchildren!) For now, be on guard. Stick with the basics. Ask questions, get involved, work hard, and be positive. Don’t buy in to emotionally charged pipe-dreams from robotic candidates who promise a new Utopia. It aint gonna happen! — never has, never will. Just keep asking yourself which of the changes that are taking place in this country will impact your cute little baby… ask yourself what the top priorities of this nation should be (i.e. bringing home a paycheck and putting food on the table every night, OR, should we be worrying more about whether a three-toed salamander in a remote corner of Oregon is in danger of extinction? It’s all about priorities.
Sorry for the novel (nothing good on TV so I got carried away!) Hope to see you comment again… and again… until we all finally get our great country off of life support! — Average Joe

  2. I hope my son gets smart and moves out of CA before they tax him to death.

  3. Thank you for this informative post. I fear Governor O’Malley and Maryland are not far behind!

  4. What a fiscal cluster that state is.

  5. Hedgecock conveniently plays the ‘2 party twostep’, explaining how California’s gov’t is bloated and that new socialist ideas are on the drawing board, soon to be enacted.
    Fine.
However, before ‘Moonbeam’ was elected California had 8 years with a Republican sitting in the gov’s chair. Which of those agencies on that extensive list reproduced by Hedgecock were established under Republican governors? Where’s the list of agencies eliminated by either the last or previous Republican Governors? Did Arnold wipe out even 1?
I know it is difficult for most people to admit, but both parties are joined at the hip, leading the US to hell. That they claim to follow 2 different paths doesn’t erase the fact that both roads lead to the same miserable location.
Anyone expecting the gay lover from Massachusetts to ‘save’ the US is due to be sadly mistaken.

    • You can deny reality for the sake of your own mental well-being, but your denial does not change the fact the Arnold was indeed a member of the Republican Party and LOVED by the republican establishment (the same establishment that is now selling you and the rest of the US on Romney).
There was even talk early in Arnold’s tenure as governor by Republican blabbermouths and politicians of changing the Constitution to allow foreign born individuals to become President of the USA (obviously because, again the establishment, felt Arnold was presidential material).

    • If you don’t like this “miserable location”, feel free to pack you bags and leave.
Better yet, why not run for office and show us how you plan to change things?

  6. Reblogged this on News You May Have Missed and commented:
This is what 4 more years of Obama look like

  7. From the movie Idiocracy…

  8. White Knuckle Driver

Romney is not the answer, but four more years of Obama ensures us that the End Times are near. Yet again the American voters are forced to vote for the candidate who will do less damage. Do you not see the fix?

  9. “Is there still time to restore the primacy of Free Enterprise over Socialism before Obama and his Leftist ilk have broken the back of Capitalism?”
The short answer is yes. I believe there is still time to implement political solutions to reverse course and restore Essential Liberty, constitutional Rule of Law and its economic expression, free enterprise. But that window is closing.
There is an economic catastrophe on our horizon, (the Obama Plan), one whose full force will hit every American in a few years. The Left will exploit it this crisis, and insist that massive increases in taxation (income redistribution) and regulation of every economic sector is the solution, with the ulterior motive of centralization of the economy. This scenario will be modeled after Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal policies, but it will be so massive as to fully institutionalize Socialism on a national scale.

  10. CARL GUARDINO of the SILICON VALLEY LEADERSHIP GROUP was key in pushing this Bullet train. CARL GUARDINO also heavily pushes AGENDA 21-ICLEI and the UN (on KLIV RADIO and the San Jose Mercury News). Every time you hear about “Sustainability, Going Green, Climate Change and SMART GRIDS-METERS, CITIES and Smart Growth, that is really AGENDA 21-ICLEI and the UN at work.
ROSA KOIRE and Michael Shaw have good info on opposing AGENDA 21 and ICLEI.

  11. Never mentioned by the AGENDA 21-ICLEI (Sustainability, Climate Change and Global Warming people) is WEATHER MANIPULATION-MODIFICATION via H.A.A.R.P. and CHEM TRAILS. Who knows? Agenda 21’s agenda also includes “Rewilding of the land” by driving most people into cities and off the land and into cities. Q: Is the MW USA Drought natural or Man Made?

  12. CARL GUARDINO of the SILICON VALLEY LEADERSHIP GROUP and his BIZ Guests also constantly demanded on KLIV RADIO-SJ Merc News to acquire as many VISA WORKERS and GREEN CARD HOLDERS here as possible for (“Innovation and creating jobs here in the USA”). They also said the same thing about acquiring as many Foreign Students here as possible, again for (Innovation).

  13. To fight Illegal aliens, please join the websites of: Numbers USA, Vdare, CAPS, ALIPAC, Frosty Wooldridge, FAIR and check out Tom Tancredo and defend Sheriff Arpaio and write to the polticians. So sign those petiticians and do some writing yourselves. After all, if Illegal Aliens can contact USA politicians (who have “En Espanol” on their websites), we should contact them just as consistently.

  14. Victor Hansen Davis is a good commentator on the CA disaster. VDARE has this article which is very good called: California Meltdown Update the Road Warrior is Here.

  15. Want to know why Politicians of both Political Parties at all government levels so aggressively grovel and kiss the Illegal Aliens butts and everyone else who wants Unsecured USA Borders and Perpetual Illegal Alien Invasion?
The NORTH AMERICAN UNION and SECURITY and PROSPERITY PARTNERSHIP plans to MERGE; Canada, the USA and Mexico together.

  16. This NAU-SPP is not a figment of my imagination. Lou Dobbs (formerly of CNN) talked about this and Jerome Corsi broke this story.
This NAU-SPP is actually part of a bigger picture of an upcoming GLOBAL GOVERNMENT to end the sovereignity of all nations and merge them into blocs. The EUROPEAN UNION was first. We’re next with the NAU-SPP.
RECONQUISTA-AZTLAN (the plan to reclaim the former Mexican Territory ranging from the state of CA to CO-TX is being taught in the higher grads of some our schools. This is being piggybacked onto the NAU-SPP plan.

This upcoming GLOBAL GOVERNMENT will fully implement AGENDA 21-ICLEI with their control-rationing of resources via Smart Meters-Grids-Cities-Growth, restricted travel, Carbon Footprint and Value-added Taxes, etc, “Rewilding the land, driving us into cities (probably into Bloomberg’s NYC crackerjack apartments he was bragging about and the end of USA Sovereignity. We will also be MICROCHIPPED and there will be a Cashless GLOBAL Monetary System and again, we will all be nothing more than MICROCIPED SLAVESS.

  18. There will also be mass Depopulation in this AGENDA 21-ICLEI, UN, Global Government Plan and the GEORGIA GUIDESTONES in Elberton, Georgia, USA says this: “Humanity Must Be Maintained Under 500,000,000 in Perpetual Balance With Nature.”
So, please get as politically active as possible. If the USA Population remains apathetic and continues to be diverted by Bread N’ Circus entertainment such as Lady Caca, sports, American Idol, the latest gadget, etc, Humanity’s future will not be pretty. … As far as MICROCHIPPING, once that’s done, “Welcome to Star Trek’s Borg.” You will be strictly controlled, monitored and tracked everywhere. This is something Hitler and Stalin would have loved!

  19. What you say is pretty good, Grouchy Fogie and our Education System needs a major overhaul and get the Multiculturism, mollycoddling Illegal Aliens and teaching RECONQUISTA-AZTLAN through La Raza, MEChA and other Hispanic-Latino Studies, AGENDA 21-ICLEI, being good Global Citizens, teaching about homosexuality, etc out of the schools and we need to get back to the basics, but CARL GUARDINO and his BIZ Partners seems to be only interested in Displacing Legal Citizens with Foreign Workers.

  20. I also think that schools should take down their Spanish signs, bill the nation of origin for services rendered to Illegal Aliens, end the DREAM Act (in-state college tuition in CA which includes Financial Aide to Illegal Aliens…Before any CA school demands any more money, ALL illegal aliens should be expelled from our schools….And our schools need to be reminded that they are still ni the USA and need to behave as such.

  21. Oops, (ni) should be (in). Well, I gotta run, but the entire situation in CA really burns me. And Gov Brown who bragged about passing the DREAM ACT and Financial Aide for Illegal Aliens has the nerve to say, “We have an x Billion Deficit and we needmore taxes.”
Speaking of taxes, what about the millions that were hidden for the Parks System? Why should we trust these drunken sailors with more of our money?

  22. What else I don’t get is this: He complained about the whole ‘using Chinese steel’ point. But the thing is that’s what Romney does, he outsources. But we complain when they come here to work and build the base of our economy because ‘they’re taking our jobs’. Now I’m not saying that complete left-wing is the way to go. Corporate taxes could be a little lower, which would(hopefully) stimulate them to hire and produce more. Privately, though, all I see is greed. Republicans scream that it isn’t fair for them to pay a higher percentage. However, they make many times more than most people(think 1% to 99% here). Why then, can’t they afford it? I can’t honestly think of what I’d do with, oh say, 15 million in my bank. At that point, what could you even NEED? I live in a place where people I know are in situations that they didn’t put themselves into. It wasn’t a lack of trying, wasn’t laziness. But while they are left to barely get by, Romney can own multiple houses? Take people’s pensions? They want to run on this “Holier than thou” platform, what with the no gay marriage, no abortions, etc. But doesn’t the bible say to tithe at least 15% of what you make? So that’s out the window. Besides, lowering their taxes would just give them more money to do nothing with. If middle class people had extra money, they’re more likey to spend it because they are already lacking things. Buying products stimulates new production and the economy. There’s a lot of frivolous spending that could be cut out. Regulations could be tighter, too, especially on things like welfare. Repair the infrastructure now, and us U.S labor and materials to do it. Puts people to work, and we won’t have to pay premium rates later on when unemployment eventually declines. Everyone wants a quick fix. That’s never going to happen, no matter who is in office. It took a while to get this way, give it time to go back.

  23. COMMENT ABOUT RACIST REMARKS:
Racist? You’ve GOT to be kidding me! A large part of the “smoke and mirrors” political agenda (designed to produce HYPERSENSITIVITY to racism, ethnicity, sexual orientation, the environment, etc.), is keeping all of us from recognizing the REAL problems we’re facing in California and the nation as a whole. We’re all buying into the carefully crafted rhetoric and propaganda created by the government’s left hand, while the right hand picks our pockets dry. Wake up, people! We’re facing a no-win economic situation here because of APATHY AND IGNORANCE, not because of lack of sensitivity. We’re well on the way to becoming a socialist state where, in stark contrast to “sensitive America,” we’ll all be the same… we’ll all be de-sensitized, contolled and robbed of our freedom. The next time you feel the need to pick an article apart, try hard to see the big picture first. Ask yourself, honestly, what the most critical issues at hand are. If you see racism as our most pressing issue in America today, you may want to refrain from exposing yourself to the media altogether (until you can clearly see through the smoke and bear to see the true reflection in the mirror).

    • Well said, Average Joe!
      Welcome to FOTM! 😀

      • Thanks for the welcome, Doc! Just have to tell you that you’re the only guy I know with a cat that’s as cute as mine! I’ve been a “dog guy” all my life — until my wife brought home a white Ragdoll kitten a few months back. I’ve never been so entertained in my life! (…of course, the cat is a staunch conservative that works for a living — kills flies in the house and keeps rodents at bay in the backyard — no free rides around here). He only expects hand-outs as a reward, isn’t afraid to use his weapons when provoked, has no gender identity issues (loves the ladies), and keeps his environment clean. He’s courageous and proud of his accomplishments, and feels well justified in owning a large collection of feline toys. Right after his arrival at our home, several “left wing” cats started coming to our door looking for handouts. He’s quick to peek out the door and “hiss,” which sends them all running down the street… (ahh, the joys of being a cat, huh?) — Keep up the good work, Doc! – Average Joe

        • Dear Average Joe,
I hate to disappoint you, but I’m not a guy! LOL

          • NOTE TO SELF: (Oh God, now I have to figure out how to react to my obvious Republican insensitivity to gender!)…
Um, yeah, hi Doc, um it’s me, Average Joe. Um, ya know, thats really a good thing, you being a woman and all. I love women. You guys (I mean girls) are great. Hey, I even married one of your kind. See, Doc, she kinda leans to the left, if ya know what I mean, so I kinda assume that everybody I talk to these days that’s got conservative “leanings” is a guy named Buck from Texas that owns a guns shop, ya know? Sorry for the mix-up, but, I still think your cat is absolutely awesome! And, the fact that you’ve got conservative views is, well, really cool…
Wow, come to think of it, In retrospect, the cat should have been a dead give away (…now I feel gay for admitting how I’ve bonded with my cat). Most guys aren’t into cats. Except, you know, guys that sell draperies and stuff. Not that I have anything against gays or guys that sell draperies, mind you. (whew, must be 110 in here…)
So, yeah, um OK, I’m going to take a few moments to actually read your profile, and then maybe I’ll be a little more aware and awake. I got to your site through a link that a buddy of mine (just a friend, really, I have no unnatural feelings toward him at all) – sent me. This is the fist time I’ve ever posted a reply to anything online, so, yeah… I’m still a little rusty here. I have to go do something manly now, Doc. (in light of the fact that the world now knows I’m really into cats)…
            Sorry Doc!
            Gender Blind Joe
PS: Persian, right? (I know, I know… I’ll read your profile first)!

              • My dear Dr. Eowyn,
In order to completely clean the slate of my earlier mishap regarding your gender, I have performed the following research in order to justify my actions. (Although my apology still stands).
                Yours Truly,
                Joe
                (AVERAGE JOE’S NOTE TO SELF)
TASK: Find meaning of the name “Eowyn” to help clarify why I assumed the good doctor (Eowyn) was a male rather than a female in a recent blog posting.
                FINDINGS:
From: Funk & Wagnall’s Encyclopedia of Non-Liberal Knowledge, 2012 ed.:
                a. “Eowyn: Noblewoman of Rohan
see Tolkien, J.R.R., Lord of the Rings
                (see Footonote #1)
                b. In “Return of the King” – Éowyn disguised herself as a man.”
                (see Footnote #2)
                c. “Went by alias of Dernhelm, travelled with the Riders of Rohan (see Footnote #3)
                d. “Fought in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields outside the White City of Minas Tirith in Gondor.” (see Footnote #4)
                e. “Éowyn fell in love with Aragorn, but it soon became clear that he could not return her love (see Footnote #5)
                FOOTNOTES:
                1. Oh, yeah, OK… Eowyn… (I remember now, the hot chick with the shield)… pffft… how could I have been so stupid?
                2. Clearly explains my recent “gender mistake”
                3. Riders of Rohan: Possibly a right-wing, pro-gun, outlaw biker club from Los Angeles who’s mascot is St. Christopher
                4. White City: Could be Minneapolis or another mid western city seldom visited by Jessie Jackson.
                5. Aragorn: Obviously, this guy’s heart belonged to a liberal athletic boy named Bruce from San Francisco.
                CONCLUSION:
My assumption that Dr. Eowyn was a male was obviously based largely on the part of the story (Return of the King) where she disguised herself as a man and adopted the alias “Dernhelm.” This was a simple, innocent mistake due to the fact that I suffer from LRC syndrome (low reading comprehension), a bi-product of attending UC Berkeley.
                TOMORROW’S TASKS:
                1. Research: “Troll Hunting”
                a. Troll populations / popular hunting grounds
                b. State regulations regarding Troll Hunting permits
                c. Firearms employed in Troll Hunting operations
                2. Research: Possible link to low testosterone levels in men who own cats

                • ROFLMAO ASCAOTS!
Note to self: give new research assignment to “Average Joe” on ASCAOTS. Hint: only regular readers of FOTM comments know. 😉
P.S. You went to UCB? Me, too! — and we survived. LOL

                  • (NOTE TO SELF)
It all makes sense now. She’s Eowyn of Emeryville. A former Berkeley sorority sister that I shared a dorm room with in the 80s (prior to my trip to Thailand for “the surgery.”) PolSci major who didn’t understand my fascination with geophysics, laboratory rats and Timothy Leary. Wow, this is a trip! Now she’s a conservative!
A-S-C-A-O-T-S — um, “American Society of Confused Architects Operating in Texas and Spain”
Or maybe, “Another Scared and Confused Alaskan Otter Trainer Spamming”
Or maybe, “Australian Scientific Collaborative of Autistic Orthodontists with Turret’s Syndrome”
                    A-S-C-A-O-T-S. Hmmmm. I’ll ask my secretary — she’s brilliant…
                    Nope, dead-end there. ASCAOTS, ASCAOTS…
Let me call down to Bill in engineering — he’s MIT material, he’ll know…
Nope, Bill’s stumped. Probably preoccupied with his damned Rubic’s cube again. No wonder were going broke…
OK, Google. Typing in: ASCAOTS. No, no, dammit, not “Ascots!”
(Nothing here that doesn’t point back to the Fellowship… hmmmm)
Oh, wow, look… Kathy posted… asking what ASCAOTS means! (I’ll just quietly wait for someone to reply to her post)…
                    (shhhh… must be vewy, vewy quiet… it’s wabbit season…”)

    • It’s the same thing being done with “Islamaphobia”, a term coined by the Muslim Brotherhood.

  24. Thanks, GF!…
Wow, this is GREAT! I feel like a long-lost leper that’s finally found his colony! It’ll take me some time to read all of the fantastic articles and replies on this site, but for now I’m just riding this “high” of feeling welcome and accepted to the fold. I’m one of three conservatives currently living in California (the other two are in hiding), so it gets pretty lonely living here. I can’t believe I haven’t run across this site before… Fellowship of the Minds is the perfect name for this blog (although I’m seriously considering building a sister-blog for opposing points of view called “Fellowship of the Mindless.”) …If nothing else, it’ll keep Nancy Pelosi supports busy while we work out the details of healing the country!
Have a great evening, GF — see ya around!
Below Average Joe (working dilligently to improve every waking moment)

  25. Cleaning the spewed diet coke off of my screen!! Someone PLEASE tell me what ASCAOTS stands for!! My brain is too weak from laughter to figure it out.

    • …Oh my God! — it was right in front of me! (“And spewing Coffee All Over the Screen!) Man, if these replies weren’t timed, I could reply to Doc Eoway and tell her I broke the code myself. Thanks, Grouchy… I owe ya one!

of the Minds” shows that you really fully understand just what exactly
u r writing about! I actually totally agree with your post.
    Thanks a lot -Harry

  29. You could definitely see your expertise in the article
you write. The world hopes for more passionate writers like you who aren’t afraid to mention how they believe. At all times go after your heart.
