The Problem With Public Housing

Rate this post

The problem with public housing is that the residents are not the owners.

The people who live in the house did not earn the house, but were loaned the property from the true owners, the taxpayers.

Because of this, the residents do not have the “pride of ownership” that comes with the hard work necessary to have a house.

In fact, the opposite happens and the residents resent their benefactors because the very house they are given is a constant reminder that they did not earn the right to live in the house.

They do not appreciate the value of the property, and see no need to maintain or respect it in any way.

The result is the same whether you are talking about a studio apartment or a magnificent mansion full of priceless antiques.

If the people who live there do not feel they earned the privilege, they will make this known through their actions.

The pictures below illustrate the point:

The Resolute Desk was built from the timbers of the HMS Resolute and was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes.  It is considered a National Treasure and icon of the U.S. presidency.

Mr. Obama, you are not in your hut in Kenya, or public housing in Chicago.

With all due respect, get your friggin feet off OUR desk!

Would you put your feet on your own desk or table in your home, or on the desk or table of someone you were visiting???

H/t my ol’ friend Sol.

Remember the stories going around that Michelle told the French First Lady that she hated living in the White House? Maybe it’s because it’s full of such old used furniture.

  2. This is a disgrace. HE is a disgrace as well as his wife. I hope the kids have brains enough to see what their parents are but I highly doubt it.

  3. obama has stated he has been to 57 states, that his grandfather was in the army that liberated auschwitz and you think he knows about this desk being made from the hms resolute highly unlikely.

  4. Just another example of the “Ghetto Goblin Goes To Washington”.

  5. this makes me mad, argh!! What a classless fool…

  6. One ought to know, when putting one’s feet upon a desk, that removal of shoes is a minimal requirement so as not to harm the finish. Shoes can also harm the carving. All that work was done one precious movement after another by craftsmen with huge pride in their work, their ship, their country and the pride that accompanies being selected by the Queen for such an important task.

Sure, the Resolute was one tough ship. Queen Victoria was no shrinking violet herself. She’d have told all and sundry that such oafish behavior is not in keeping with the stature of the office, nor should it be tolerated at the risk of harm to objects of incalculable value, historically speaking.

Then again, she’d have been likely to have boxed his ears and sent him to bed without supper, if she’d only had the chance to have it do some good in his formative years.

My great grandfather was a cabinet maker and seeing that shoe against that desk causes actual pain near my heart.

A Republican candidate running for president… The lower photo would be all it takes to get elected.

Pictures are worth a thousand words. and nothing in this photo screams presidential material.

These pictures make me cry for my country and the depths we have fallen to.

  9. bit of a racist comment about a hut in Kenya, so he has his feet an a desk. Its just wood at the end of the day. Obama is a great president, much better than bush. Obama can do what ever he want, id like to see any of you as president but I can gladly see that you never will be. I am still waiting for the day of a black pope.

    • Hey, liberal troll from the UK with the unimaginative alias, Housing developments:

Can’t you just try a little harder to come up with a calumny other than racism? You left-wingers have become just plain B-O-R-I-N-G.
Don’t you have enough troubles of your own over there in the UK, without sticking your big ugly nose into America’s? Just remember who won/who lost in 1776. We can and will do it again.

    • What has he done that makes him so great? The way I see it, we have a classless fool running our country and a great many others who put him there!
