Watch this and tell me you’re not moved….

Yes, it’s a commercial for the Ta Chung Bank in Taiwan. But it’s based on the real life story of a group of old men, with an average age of 81, who travelled around Taiwan on motorbike in 2007. The commercial’s images were taken from  the documentary “Go Grandriders”.

“Old age should burn and rage at close of day;
Rage, rage against the
dying of the light.”
-Dylan Thomas, “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night,” 1951

  1. Their own bucket list. :-)) this left me smiling. It was poignant at the end when the guy held up the photo of their deceased friend. And I loved the end video of themselves as youngsters. made a good commercial too.

  2. lowtechgrannie

    Heartwarming! I love all these old road warriors!

  3. You are absolutely right. This was WONDERFUL!
    Just sent to some really close friends. Let’s see – haven’t scaled Mt. Whitney yet, haven’t barrel raced, haven’t been to the South Pacific…haven’t had an elephant in the backyard (yet – and this is no joke).
    But if we don’t plan and do it, we won’t know if we can, and we won’t ever know what we would have seen and experienced.
    I’m in. What have you got?

  4. very cool!

  5. Many thanks, Eo, for an elegantly simple presentation of this amazing documentary. Your choice of Dylan’s poem was grand, and deeply appreciated by me. My plan is to wear out, not rust out, so to paraphrase from “archy and mehitabel”, there’s a dance in the old guy yet!!

  6. I am now 65 and retired and a widow, I am not going quietly, I have been both blessed and lucky, I willl go out kicking and screaming if the good lord lets me!!!! Life it is meant to live!!!!
