Ted Cruz is so opposed to illegal immigration that he delivered gift baskets to them in 2014

So you actually believe Ted Cruz when he says he’s anti-illegal immigration?
Did you know that less than 2 years ago, in July 2014, he joined that nutty TV-radio talker Glenn Beck in distributing gift baskets to illegal migrants at the US-Mexico border in McAllen, Texas?
Sarah Palin knows. Last night, at the Milwaukee County GOP dinner in Wisconsin, Palin reminded the audience of just that.

As reported by Erica Ritz for The Blaze, on Saturday, July 19, 2014, Mercury One, the charity founded by Glenn Beck, went to the border in McAllen, Texas “to distribute tractor-trailers full of food, water, clothing and toys to the illegal immigrant children who are pouring into the United States.”
Beck was joined by Dana Loesch, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas), and later that morning by Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

Ehh, Ted? What’s that you’re saying about how Trump keeps changing his mind on issues?

Is any reader surprised? Hypocrisy is the politico’s first survival tool in the wilds of WA DofC!

Ted Cruz is as fake as Dolly Parton’s boobs. Face it! He’s no more real than Mr. McGoo or Bugs Bunny.

Read this very carefully:
The Illegals?
Cruz’s amendment would have purposefully LEFT INTACT THE BILL’S PROVISION TO PROVIDE LEGAL STATUS FOR THEM.

I remember Beck doing this. Didn’t realize Cruz was there. Ugh.

Yeah. Sarah Palin also knows that Trump is going to fight for conservative values. But I know better. I don’t know how she got fooled; I guess she equated what people say with what people do.
And Cruz can deliver all the gift baskets he wants, as long as he votes against illegal immigration. Period. He does and he has. Who else has done that? Trump has hired them–Rubio gave them in-state tuition, Jeb said that illegal immigration equals love.

“I guess she equated what people say with what people do. ” So what’re you saying here-that people do the opposite of what they SAY they’ll do? Well that sure makes politics a lot easier to predict…..

Scary, isn’t it…that people will overlook anything…These kids were USED by the current administration, and the Mexican government. Just because they were showed kindness, doesn’t mean they (Ted Cruz, Glenn Beck ect..) opened the door for them to stay. We live in an upside down world, and it is getting worse every day!!

Yep, Cruz’s persona melted off from a year ago really quick. This is what these two are doing: They’re playing what is to them an entertaining parlor game. People don’t understand something: A politician, like a real estate agent or a salesman or a lawyer is a BROKER. They may or may not believe what they are peddling. But peddle their wares they do, at the behest of their sponsors. They pick the platforms they do in the hopes of grabbing enough of the market share to get elected. But when you one day discover you’re dealing not merely with… Read more »

People have to be awfully naive to believe this choreographed publicity stunt was anything other than a living example of hypocrites trumpeting their almsgiving before them in the streets. And they have received the reward they deserve, which is being exposed as the execrable hypocrites they are.

I don’t see the conflict here. Let me explain. I serve on the board of directors of a charily. About have of the 30 directors are conservatives, the other half liberals. The conservatives including me are actively pushing in our private lives for closing the borders and deporting illegal aliens. But in this charity, we have hundreds of doctors signed up to provide free services to illegal immigrant children. This takes the load off of the taxpayer, and all of these folks (board members, doctors, dentists) are volunteering for this. The board members pay for the privilege of serving, and… Read more »

The “amnesty amendment” bit has been long since debunked. This was one of many amendments offered, and the point of this one was to demonstrate that the Gang of Eight really wanted citizenship for the illegals, not just legal status. Cruz was the primary opponent of the Gang of Eight’s bill, and had made clear that he would not support it for many reasons. The amendments forced the amnesty crowd to reveal their motives: Delay enforcing the border and create new Democrat voters as quickly as possible. That exposure was Ted Cruz’s goal. To use this to portray Cruz as… Read more »

Cruz Gets Tricky Concerning Amnesty
Cruz’s amendment would have purposefully left intact the bill’s provisions to provide legal status for them. Numerous media outlets described Cruz’s plan as a compromise “middle road” in the immigration debate that he hoped might be palatable to enough legislators in both houses of Congress to actually pass.

You might want to use a link that works. The FC article asserts that Cruz’s “amendment” was a “compromise” leading to a “middle road.” This appears to have been invented by Rubio recently. Look at articles from the time. Rubio was the man of “compromise” and Cruz was described as a “bomb-thrower” for his fierce opposition to illegal immigration and the amnesty bill. He was that bill’s #1 opponent, and everyone knew this at the time. FactCheck talks about “Cruz’s amendment”—but Cruz offered a stack of amendments to that bill… as did Jeff Sessions, another implacable foe of the Gang… Read more »
