Daily Caller: Avast! You just can’t be too safe these days, maties, which is why officials at a rural North Carolina school district locked down four public schools after somebody spotted an elementary school teacher dressed as a pirate.
The freebooter fracas occurred in the small town of Richlands, N.C. on International Talk Like A Pirate Day — Sept. 19 (every year). Full details concerning the lockdown have only come out this week, however, according to local ABC affiliate WCTI.
Richlands Elementary School was the first school to be locked down, just after 10 a.m., after a cafeteria staffer saw a “suspicious person.” Specifically, explains a sheriff’s office report released Wednesday, the food service worker saw the teacher dressed up as a pirate and mistook the plastic sword part of the costume as a gun.
Richlands Elementary School had been celebrating pirates all week, area NBC affiliate WITN reports. Nevertheless, the cafeteria worker called the school office about the “suspicious person.”
“Shiver me timbers!” officials in the office must have exclaimed, and they initiated a process which resulted in lockdowns at three other Onslow County schools: Richlands Primary School, Trexler Middle School and Richlands High School.
Law enforcement officers searched on foot and used a K-9, but did not find the “suspicious person” that day. The lockdowns lasted for less than three hours before they were lifted.
“After a thorough review of this incident, it has been determined that school personnel working in conjunction with law enforcement agencies handled the situation in a very professional manner and followed all protocols to the letter,” said Jerry Morse of the Sheriff’s Office in a news release.

  1. Great, more needless hysteria. Can we have one day a year for “Act Like You Use Your Brain Day”?

  2. Probably wouldn’t have been any problem if they were celebrating Black homosexual and trans-gender Communist Pirates. Seriously-aren’t we ALL ready to put this P/C BS to rest? If you’re frightened enough that even a fake weapon, the mention of a weapon or a picture of a weapon makes you frightened,or if what someone calls you is enough to cause you to want to change laws, you’re really not equipped to exist in this world, and should go have yourself moved into a nice safe rubber lined room.

  3. This is INSANE. There’s simply no other word for it. Has this country gone stark raving mad?

    • That “fundamental transformation” they were talking about…

    • Eowyn, what gets me is that they were celebrating pirates all week. So seeing a pirate should not have been out of the ordinary.
      It even says
” Specifically, explains a sheriff’s office report released Wednesday, the food service worker saw the teacher dressed up as a pirate and mistook the plastic sword part of the costume as a gun.
Not only are the kids scared silly, now they have the staff seeing “suspicious” pirates during
      Pirate week.
You wonder why I’m losing my mind?

  4. Well, after all, it is gubbermint skewel.

  5. The left is just an endless supply of stupidity.

  6. Isn’t this known, medically speaking, as “paranoid schizophrenia”? These are the people that other folks are trusting their kids to to get food and be educated?
I think a return to the one-room schoolhouse approach with actual & practical information is not only a good idea, but should be mandatory at this point, the system as it exists presently is clearly demonstrating it’s complete uselessness and terrorism (yep, inducing fear like that is terrorism.)

  7. Well, I do believe we are now certifiably CRAZY!!

Proof that their fear mongering and dumbing down of the masses is working.
