Sandra Bullock to star as Wendy Davis in "Let Her Speak"

Way to tarnish your career by playing the loser Abortion Barbie. I predict another Hollyweird dud.
From Dallas News: Sandra Bullock is poised to take on the role of Wendy Davis in a new movie called Let Her Speak about the filibuster that catapulted the former Texas senator into the national spotlight.
Bullock, who previously lived in Austin, is attached to the script as long as the project lands a director she likes, Deadline Hollywood reported.
The movie would cover the day of the filibuster as well as Davis’ journey from a teen mother living in a trailer park to a Harvard-trained lawyer who later won a seat on the Fort Worth City Council.
On June 25, 2013, Davis stood on the state Senate floor in pink Mizuno sneakers for more than 12 straight hours to block a vote on what would have been one of the most restrictive abortion laws in the country. She went without breaks and water during the filibuster.
When Republicans used strict interpretations of the Senate rules to try to end the filibuster and call a vote before the first special session of the 83rd Legislature ended at midnight, abortion rights activists who had packed the gallery erupted into chants of “let her speak.”
The vote was cast in favor of the bill largely along party lines, but came too late and the session was called to a close without Senate Bill 5’s passage.
After the filibuster, then-Gov. Rick Perry called legislators back for another special session, and the bill that banned abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy was passed.
The bill also mandated that abortions be performed at hospital-like surgical centers and that doctors who perform abortions must have admitting privileges at hospitals, requirements that caused more than half of the state’s abortion clinics to close.
After a lengthy legal debate, the U.S. Supreme Court in June 2016 struck down the regulations on abortion doctors and clinics in a 5-3 decision. The ruling determined that the restrictions posed an unconstitutional burden on women seeking to end a pregnancy.
Davis waived a bid for re-election to run for governor in 2014. She was dealt a strong defeat by Greg Abbott, who beat her with more than 20 percentage points.
Another Hollyweird project I won’t be seeing.

Hillary's fundraising visit to Hollywood would have been greeted with evil "flying monkey" signs

Hillary “What difference does it make” Clinton is scheduled to speak tonight night at a Democratic National Committee Fundraiser event at Brentwood’s Tavern restaurant in Los Angeles.
The fundraiser event — the third major Demonrat fundraising in L.A. in a month — is sponsored by Hollywood heavyweights and diehard Demonrats director Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Disney Studio chairman Alan Horn. Tickets for the event for monied Hollyweirdos, which include a reception, photo and dinner, cost $32,400 each — the maximum allowed individual contribution to a national party committee per calendar yer.
Below is the image that would have greeted the Hildebeast — that of an evil flying monkey from The Wizard of Oz.

According to Tina Daunt of The Hollywood Reporter, Oct. 17, 2014, the “flying monkey” sign is the creation of guerrilla street artist SABO.
Last Friday morning, SABO hung signs depicting Wizard of Oz flying monkeys holding “Hillary 2016” signs from traffic lights and pasted them on utility boxes near the Tavern Restaurant. In an email to Hollywood Reporter, SABO explains, “All these leftists, I’m tired of their s—.”
But SABO recounted that almost immediately, one poster near a Whole Foods grocery store was “violently” torn down.
Louisiana native SABO, the conservatives’ answer to liberal artists like Shepard Fairey, had moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to attend the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.
SABO recently made headlines with his Gwyneth Paltrow “Obama Drone” poster. (See DCG’s post, “Angry neighbors slam Gwyneth Paltrow after she throws political party for Barack Obama“.)
Funny stuff: Posters put up in Paltrow's neighborhood
Some of SABO’s other works include:

  • A caricature of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi twerking, which helped launch the conservative website Breitbart California, triggered demands for an apology from a cross section of angry Demonrats.

  •  Last year, when Texas pro-abort lawmaker Wendy Davis came to L.A. to raise money, SABO lampooned her as “Abortion Barbie.”

  • In addition to the flying monkey posters, SABO has been busy working on a fake Tavern website, which ridicules Hillary and the Democratic Party.
  • He also has an entire section of his website Unsavory Agents dedicated to Hillary. “It sickens me to see just about every California Republican I run across pull out the white flag in surrender to the coming coronation of Hillary Clinton,” SABO wrote on his website. “They’ve all but given up without a hint of a fight. Let this image be a reminder to them that our lady in waiting is not invincible. Obama came out of nowhere and knocked her off her perch without so much as trying.”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, SABO said Hollywood and politics have become a focal point of his guerrilla art, particularly with his “Drone” campaign, which also features Samuel L. Jackson, Alec Baldwin and Jon Stewart.
“I think the drone campaign encapsulates how I feel about Hollywood,” he says. “You know, it’s kind of like a double or triple entendre in that, I mean, if you listen to one of these celebrities go on, they’re like, droning on and on and on about how they love Obama or the left or the Democrats, or they drone on about how much Republicans suck, and in a way, much the way an unmanned aircraft flies through the air, these people fly through the airwaves.”
Alas, a mere day after SABO had put up the Hillary flying monkey signs, all of the posters and banners were either removed or painted over.
Because in America today, and especially in Demonrat-worshipping Hollywood, you just can’t have those satiric but entirely accurate flying monkey signs offend Queen Hillary, free speech be damned.

New poll shows statewide Texas GOP candidate enjoy double-digit leads

Abbott in the lead...

Abbott in the lead…

Dallas News: GOP governor nominee Greg Abbott is maintaining a strong lead over Democrat Wendy Davis, as Republican candidates throughout the ballot are in strong positions seven months out from the November election.

A new Public Policy Polling survey of registered voters in Texas shows Abbott leading 51 to 37 percent over Davis. The Fort Worth state senator has seen her negatives increase among voters over the past several months, with now 33 percent having a positive impression of her and 47 percent having a negative view.

While Davis has been fundraising and become more active on the campaign trail in recent weeks, she has yet to place a big TV outlay to introduce herself to voters.

Abbott enjoys a 40 percent positive view with 27 percent having a negative impression.

The survey shows that all Republican candidates are doing well with voters – even Rick Perry, who’s not running for re-election.

For the first time in years, Perry has climbed into the positive stratosphere with 48 percent approving of him, compared to 44 percent who disapprove. That’s up 18 points from two years ago, after his failed presidential bid.

In the lieutenant governor’s race, state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte trails both Republicans in the run-off. Dan Patrick leads her 51 to 35 percent and David Dewhurst leads her by 18 points – 50 to 32 percent.

The margins are similar in the U.S. Senate race, where incumbent John Cornyn leads Democrat David Alameel 49 to 32 percent.

Cornyn’s lead comes even with a low 31 percent approval rate. At best, even Republicans show only tepid support for him, pollsters said.

“There’s one finding in this poll that goes a long way toward explaining all the other ones,” PPP stated.

It’s that only 36 percent of voters in the state approve of the job Barack Obama’s doing to 58 percent who disapprove. “That makes life for Democrats running for office this year a lot more difficult,” pollsters said.

The random telephone poll of 559 registered voters was conducted April 10-13 and has a 4.1 percent margin of error, meaning findings could vary that much in either direction.

UPDATE 2:05 pm: Zac Petkanas, spokesman for Wendy Davis, criticized the methodology of the poll, saying that PPP failed to include voters who exclusively use cell phones instead of land-lines. Cell phones are “important to contacting African-American, Latino and young voters,” Petkanas pointed out. (raaaaacist!)

He also said that Davis is working on energizing qualified people who haven’t voted, which also would knock them out of the poll.
