After all, it was just a matter of time before disgraced representative Anthony Weiner resigned. He gave a press conference this morning in which he was heckled (lewd language included).
He apologized for the personal mistakes he had made. He described his actions as a “distraction”. Most importantly, he needs to “heal” from the damage that he has caused. “Of course, I want to express my gratitude to my family. To my mother and father, who instilled in me the values that carried me this far.”
Are you kidding me? Yes, those values carried you all the way to resign from elected office. His parents must be so proud.
That headline was too easy to write (and it wasn’t my idea)!
As new photographs of Anthony Weiner surfaced this past Sunday (click here to see them, could not bear myself to post them here!), calls for his resignation are appearing more and more. The Detroit Free Press reports that more of his peers are calling for his resignation. This, even as he has taken a “leave of absence” to seek professional help.
The most recent photos show him in various stages of undress in the House of Representative’s House gymnasium photographing himself in suggestive positions, including in a towel clutching his crotch. And in the nude with a towel over his “private parts”.
With a last name like “Weiner” it’s way too easy for the jokes to write themselves. The AP reports “Top Democratic women dodge tough call on Weiner”. Some of these women’s responses:
“You’re right, I don’t like” questions about Weiner, Sen. Dianne Feinstein said with a smile.
House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California, the first woman to serve as House speaker, said in a statement that she’s “disappointed” in Weiner.
Sen. Patty Murray, head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said tersely Wednesday that “of course” Weiner’s troubles make it harder to elect Democrats to Congress. Murray said Thursday she thought she was answering a different question. Asked about the pressure on Weiner to resign, the Washington Democrat pointed out that he’s a member of the House.
“My thought on Weiner is that he is a very busy man. Like most, although not all, politicians, he probably spends a great deal of time going to meetings, raising campaign funds and seizing upon every opportunity to remind people of how great he is as a public servant and a human being. It’s exhausting. Like other politicians, he needs something to take the edge off.”
It gets better:
” Weiner is so busy, he forgot the important rule that everyone you interact with on this plane becomes a co-conspirator. Weiner is the modern, high functioning man. The fact that he is married is just one, albeit a huge, factor. Weiner is a modern human being. So he ensnared himself in things that modern humans do. When I first heard about his problems, I snickered and made jokes, too. Now, I’m sad for him, his family, his district and his colleagues.”
Need to take the edge off? Try golfing. Remember, this defense comes from a man who treated his daughter like this:
Sounds like Alec himself needs to “take the edge off”.
Shocker! Weiner admitted today to sending “lewd” photos via Twitter. Course the married man said he “intended” to send the photos via DM (direct message) as “part of a joke” to a woman in Seattle. Yeah, right.
He fessed up after claiming for days that his account had been hacked. He then continued that story which he later realized was a “regrettable mistake”. “To be clear, the picture was of me and I sent it. I am deeply sorry for the pain this has caused my wife Huma and our family, and my constituents, my friends, supporters and staff,” Weiner said.
Weiner also said he would not resign.
What do you suppose made Weiner confess his “mistake”? Could it be due to the investigative reporting of Andrew Breitbart over at BigGovernment.com? Andrew had received slanderous attacks from the liberals over this scandal, claiming that Andrew was trying to set up Weiner. Yet, once again, Andrew proves he is right. He has obtained more photos of the Weinerman that he sent to other women (you can see them at the link. I couldn’t bear to post them here, ugh).
Weinerman finally confesses. And we are not surprised. Just wondering when Nancy Pelosi is going to “drain the swamp”?
