More big retailers ask customers not to openly carry in their stores

I never open carry because I don’t like to advertise the fact that I have a firearm. Yet I get why some people do open carry. It’s just not for me.

I prefer concealment because if should I ever need to use my firearm, I would prefer the element of surprise.

Yet for those who do prefer to open carry, the right of others’ feelings uncomfortable at the sight of a gun takes precedence over one’s right to self defense.

From HuffPo: More large retail companies are asking that customers no longer openly carry guns in their stores following last month’s deadly mass shooting in a Texas Walmart.

Walgreens, Wegmans and CVS are the latest nationwide retail chains to make the request after Walmart on Wednesday ― and Kroger soon after ― asked customers not to do so, even in so-called open carry states that allow the practice. Walmart’s request came with an announcement that the nation’s largest retailer would stop selling handgun ammunition and “short-barrel rifle ammunition.”

Walmart’s decision came on the heels of a mass shooting inside an El Paso, Texas, store in early August that left 22 people dead. That same week, an employee who had been suspended shot and killed two co-workers in a Mississippi Walmart where he worked.

“As a company, we experienced two horrific events in one week, and we will never be the same,” Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a memo to employees on Tuesday.

The week after the El Paso shooting, police arrested an armed man who caused chaos when he walked into a Walmart in Springfield, Missouri, while wearing body armor and military-style clothing. The same week, a man calling himself an “anti-gun activist” was questioned by police after he asked a clerk in a Florida Walmart for a gun that would “kill 200 people.”

Hours after Walmart’s announcement, Kroger, the nation’s largest grocery chain, followed with its own request asking customers not to openly carry.

“Kroger has demonstrated with our actions that we recognize the growing chorus of Americans who are no longer comfortable with the status quo and who are advocating for concrete and common sense gun reforms,” Kroger said in a statement.

On Thursday, Walgreens, CVS and Wegmans made similar requests.

Walmart said the policy would not be enforced, but that management is instructed to contact law enforcement if they feel threatened.

“It’s a respectful request,” Walmart spokesperson Ragan Dickens told HuffPost. “And if they do not listen to the request, we’ve asked management to evaluate each situation. If an individual is a potential threat, the manager on duty can contact law enforcement.”

It’s not clear how other stores will enforce the new policies, but Kris Brown of advocacy group Brady United told CNN that the move by Walmart is “telling the NRA that logic does not support what they’ve been saying — this ‘good guy with a gun’ idea is patently false.”

HuffPost has reached out to all of the retailers for comment on how they plan to enforce the policies, if at all.

Check out some of the ignorant comments from this HuffPo article:

“What will all them “Patriots” do when they can’t wear their “Strap-ons” in public? How will they attract a mate?

“In 1981 I visited Moscow. The first thing that really struck me were the soldiers at the airport, all heavily armed. That was the case throughout the city and was the one thing I could not get used to seeing. I would feel the same way going into a store here and seeing fellow shoppers that were heavily armed. I always assume that a person carrying a gun is a person ready to use a gun. How am I supposed to discern what that person’s motives are?

Those folks carrying guns are the scared ones, and many are angry or crazy. And yet when guns are used in stores, not one good guy comes to anyone’s assistance. So why have them? To make the scaredy cats feel like a big man. Take their guns and they’re wimps.

just leave your P-nus enhancer at home.

“Anyone who needs to swagger around wearing a holster when they’re buying eggs or socks probably isn’t someone who should be armed in the first place. We don’t need Dirty Harry wannabes hoping they get to be heroes.”

“Regardless of the arguments for or against open carry, it is important to remember the children. American children are aware of these mass shootings and have been traumatized by them. There is a fear of going shopping, a fear of going to school and a fear of going to the synagogue. Imagine the fear a child may experience on seeing some strange man carrying a gun in one of these stores. It is a self-centred and unfeeling for those phallic challenged men to want to go shopping with a gun.”

“Just a thought. If you should stumble into my universe, ie. I see you, I think I would point at you, in public and start laughing. I would giggle so hard, asking you if you are ready to shoot somebody here? Show me your ID and proof you can carry that gun.

Here’s my proof that I can carry:

The comments on this story appear to me that many of these people 1) Have never been around firearms, shot a gun nor have friends who prefer to open carry, 2) Do not understand that criminals do not open carry, 3) Do not live in rural areas, and 4) Have a major infatuation with inanimate objects of which they do not understand.

I believe that what most of these anti-gun advocates really don’t understand is that the LAST thing us law-abiding citizens want to do is actually take a human life with our firearm.

In any proper firearm training you learn one of the basic four rules: Be sure of your target and what is in front of it and behind it.

It was reiterated to me during my training – many, many times – that if you are going to fire you need to be prepared to accept the consequence of your action and understand that you may take a human life. You CANNOT take back that bullet. That is YOUR responsibility and if you choose to fire, the decision will live with you the rest of your life.

To assume that those who open carry do so to “make them feel like a big man” (or woman), that they are “wimps,” or that they want to be “heroes” means you really don’t understand our desire for self preservation.

If you’re worried about being the victim of a mass shooting because someone open carries a gun, you really should check your fears: Actual mass shootings remain a statistical rarity and much-exaggerated threat.

A study commissioned by Obama in 2013 determined that “violent crimes, including homicides specifically, have declined in the past five years.” It also pointed out that “some firearm violence results in death, but most does not.” In fact, the CDC report said, most incidents involving the discharge of firearms do not result in a fatality.

So while gun-grabbers celebrate the fact that “wimps” are no longer allowed to open carry in several retail chains, they will feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel safer. Until the next criminal decides not to follow the law.

Walgreens succumbs to tranny restroom tyranny

Sun, 11 Feb 2018 13:19:50 +0000

eowyn2

The Walgreens drug-store chain is going the route of Target, allowing men into women’s restrooms, under the pretext of being “transgenders” — a psychological fantasy with no basis in biology. (See “American College of Pediatricians speaks truth on transgenderism”)

Target's new transgender bathroom

In an email, Tim Wildmon, President of American Family Association, alerts us to the change in Walgreens’ restroom policy:

In a shocking policy announcement, Walgreens has now directed its stores to allow men full and unrestricted access to women’s restrooms in all of its 8,100 stores.

On Nov. 17, 2017, Walgreens issued a memo stating, “All individuals have a right to use restroom facilities that correspond to the individual’s gender identity, regardless of the individual’s sex assigned at birth.”

The policy came as the result of being pressured by the ACLU of Southern California.

Since a similar public policy was announced by Target Stores, Inc. two years ago, dozens of women and children have been victimized by male predators inside Target stores.

Walgreens’ new policy could potentially result in female customers becoming victims of voyeurism, sexual assault and physical attack by unrestrained men.

1. Sign our petition urging Walgreens to immediately reverse its dangerous policy that allows men unrestricted access into women’s restrooms.

2. To make your voice heard even more, please call Walgreen’s corporate office at 1-800-925-4733 and share your concerns.

3. If you are a Walgreens’ customer, let your local store manager hear from you. You can find the local store number here.

The executive director of ACLU of Southern California is Hector Villagra, a lawyer with a J.D. from Columbia U. Before joining ACLU SoCal, Hector was the regional counsel and staff attorney for the Los Angeles Regional Office of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund.

Villagra’s page says his preferred pronouns are “he/him/his”. How “cisgender” of him.

Americans have woefully short memories and feeble willpower.

The graph below shows that less than two years after Target’s corporate headquarters on April 16, 2016, made the decision to allow transgenders men into women’s restrooms, the company’s stock performance has completely recuperated.

So much for the #BoycottTarget movement.

And that’s how and why Christians and conservatives lose the culture war.

Big mob of Trayvon protesters ransack store

80 to 100 high school students demonstrating in support of Trayvon Martin ransacked a Walgreens store in Florida.
WPLG Local10.com reports from North Miami Beach, Florida, March 27, 2012, that the students conducted a “walkout” protest from North Miami Beach Senior High School, calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman, who had fatally shot Martin on the evening of Feb. 26 in a gated community in Sanford, FL. Claiming self-defense in the shooting, Zimmerman has not been charged, but the incident is under investigation by both Sanford police and the FBI.
Minutes after walking out of their school Friday, a large group of students walked through the streets of North Miami Beach. Along the way, they stopped at a Walgreens at 163rd Street and 15th Avenue at about 10:40 a.m.
Surveillance video shows dozens of teenagers running through the store. Police said about 80 to 100 students stormed in, ransacking the shelves, before the school’s vice principal ordered everyone outside.
North Miami Beach police said students damaged items worth about $150. No injuries were reported.
Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said, “We do not accept any type of violation on the part of our students. There ought to be consequences, and we’ll be collaborating with whatever law enforcement entity is investigating that issue.” The School Board said the students involved could be prosecuted and face disciplinary action at the school.
Student Jenny Sincere said, “I don’t think they were doing it, like, to be malicious or whatever. They were just in the moment where they weren’t really thinking right because they were so angry.”
Another student Eric On-Sang said, “It showed bad character because that’s not what we were out there for. A few just made us look really bad.”
Some students admitted Tuesday to being part of the rampage. One student said, “I’m not going to lie. I was one of the people that was pushing in there because I was mad.” When asked whether the incident may have hurt their cause, student Christopher Paul said, “Yeah, it kind of did, yeah. I was just angry. I don’t know what the rest of them were doing. I was just trying to make a point for Trayvon. That’s it.”
Police said some of the students dropped their IDs on the way out of the store, so investigators have an idea of who was inside.

So, if you’re mad or angry, then it’s OK to destroy someone else’s property? These narcissistic students are the products of an indulgent society. To top it off, they’re also stupid, having dropped their IDs on the way out of the store.
And who stoked the anger of the students?
Race hustlers like Jesse Jackson who calls Trayvon a “martyr” (martyr to what?) and declares “blacks are under attack”; and Barack Obama who adds fuel to the fire by saying “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”
Imagine the outrage if, say, Pres. George W. Bush had said that about the white victim of a black shooting.
