Hundreds of guns found en route to Chicago after being stolen from UPS facility in Tennessee

Apparently not all of Chiraq’s illegal guns come from Indiana.

From MyFoxChicago: Most of the roughly 400 guns that were stolen from a United Parcel Service facility in Tennessee have been recovered in the Chicago area, federal authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities seized about 365 Ruger .22-caliber and .380-caliber firearms after police officers responded to a call about suspicious activity in the southern Chicago suburb of Midlothian on Sunday afternoon – about 12 hours after the guns were taken from a UPS facility in Memphis, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent said in court documents.

ATF had said the guns being shipped from a Ruger factory in North Carolina were taken by two men in a U-Haul truck. ATF spokesman Michael Knight said the truck was recovered along with the guns.

Court documents said officers found the truck at a store parking lot in Midlothian and questioned 24-year-old Roland Jackson of Chicago and 18-year-old Taveyan Turnbo before they both ran away.

Turnbo was arrested hours later and faces federal charges of possessing stolen firearms. He was scheduled for an initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Chicago. Court documents said he denied taking part in the theft at the UPS facility.

Jackson faces federal charges of being a convicted felon illegally possessing firearms. The ATF said he remained at large Tuesday.

The estimate of 400 stolen firearms makes it one of the largest single gun thefts the ATF has investigated, Knight said.

Turnbo told investigators he and Jackson had sold at least three of the guns for a total of $400, according to court documents.

UPS said it is cooperating with law enforcement.

ATF had asked the public to send social media posts, photos or any other information related to the theft. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

If you have any information on Jackson’s whereabouts, call 1-800-ATF-GUNS.

WND EXCLUSIVE

NOW OBAMA TARGETS YOUR FEDEX, UPS PACKAGES

Shipper warns move ‘has potential to threaten privacy of all customers’

The Obama administration is demanding the nation’s two biggest shipping companies police the contents of Americans’ sealed packages, and a FedEx spokesman is warning that the move “has the potential to threaten the privacy of all customers that send or receive packages.”

Wants your complete cooperation.

Wants your complete cooperation.

FedEx and UPS are in the Justice Department’s cross-hairs for not flagging shipments of illegally prescribed drugs the companies say they had no way of knowing were in their possession.
Criminal charges could be coming against the carriers, even though the government has not alleged any deliberate wrongdoing by the companies.
FedEx spokesman Patrick Fitzgerald said his company has a 40-year history of actively assisting the government crackdown on any criminal conduct, but he told WND this probe was very different from the start.
“What is unusual and really disturbing is it became clear to us along the way that FedEx was being targeted for some level criminal activity as it relates to these medicines that are being shipped from pharmacies, and we find it to be completely absurd because it’s really not our role,” Fitzgerald said. “We have no way of knowing what is legal and not within the packages that we’re picking up and delivering in this situation.”
“At the heart of the investigation are sealed packages that are being sent by, as far as we can tell, licensed pharmacies. These are medicines with legal prescriptions written by licensed physicians. So it’s difficult for us to understand where we would have some role in this. We are a transportation company that picks up and delivers close to 10 million packages every day. They are sealed packages, so we have no way of knowing specifically what’s inside and we have no interest in violating the privacy rights of our customers,” Fitzgerald said.
In addition to the unrealistic expectation that the federal government seems to have for the companies to know what’s in every package, Fitzgerald said protecting the rights of customers is paramount and the issues go hand-in-hand.
Wants to stop illegal shipping of drugs?

“They clearly are attempting to put some responsibility for the legality of the contents of these packages. That’s why for us it goes far beyond even just the online pharmacy situation. This really has a chilling effect. It has the potential to threaten the privacy of all customers that send or receive packages via FedEx because the government is assigning a role on us as law enforcement or taking on their role in a way that is not appropriate,” Fitzgerald said.
FedEx sought to diffuse the standoff by offering to stop doing business with any pharmacies that the government suspected to be involved in illegal activities. The Justice Department declined, citing the potential for the pharmacies to sue over a lack of due process.
“If the government were to come to us and give us the name of a customer that’s engaged in some level of illegal activity, we can immediately stop shipping for that customer. We will not tolerate any illegal activity within our networks,” Fitzgerald said. “What we want here is a solution that will apply for the entire industry and serve the public’s interest. That’s why we find it completely absurd and, to a large degree, stunning that the government is not working with us on that solution as they have with other problems in the past. As long as they’re not doing that, there’s really no solution even if they were to pursue an investigation or criminal charges against a specific company. There needs to be an industry-wide solution that will put a stop to this problem.”
That leaves FedEx and UPS with the task of stopping illegal shipments from sources the government will not divulge.
“The comparison that we’ve made is a no-fly list. It’s as if the government were to go to major commercial airlines and accuse them of some level of criminal activity if they were to allow somebody on the no-fly list onto one of their planes without providing them a no-fly list,” Fitzgerald said. “What we want here is the no-fly list for online pharmacies. If they are aware of some level of illegal activity by some number of pharmacies, simply provide us that list and we will stop providing service. It’s a very simple solution.”
Elections have consequences.

Elections have consequences.

Fitzpatrick said no other private carriers are being targeted by the Justice Department, and he has no evidence to suggest this probe is designed to boost the financially strapped U.S. Postal Service at the expense of private competitors.
UPS is currently negotiating a settlement with the government, but FedEx is fighting this all the way.
“Settlement is not an option for us when there’s no illegal activity on our part,” Fitzpatrick said.

Evil Video Game Wants Players to Kill Conservatives

The Left are coming unhinged.
At a Labor Day event, Teamsters Union chief Jimmy Hoffa Jr. threatened fellow Americans — TEA Partiers — with “war” and called on his union minions to “take these sons of bitches out.” Hoffa said this right in the presence of the President of the United States, and Obama did and said nothing.
Now, there’s a new video game that encourages players to “mow down conservatives.”
Elizabeth Flock reports for the Washington Post, Sept. 7, 2011, that a new video game, “Tea Party Zombies Must Die,” released by advertising company StarvingEyes Advergaming, encourages players to mow down conservative commentators, political figures and tea partiers, including Sarah Palin, Bill O’Reilly, Newt Gingrich, Sean Hannity, Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Glenn Beck, and the Koch Brothers.

The graphic game puts tea partiers in Ku Klux Klan robes, places Fox commentators in what’s left of a post-apocalyptic office, and asks players to “grab your weapons and bash their rotten brains to bits!”
Jason Oda, head of StarvingEyestold MRCtv: “The game was just a personal project. I am not worried about it effecting [sic] business.”

Personal or not, Oda’s project has already sparked quite the reaction. Howard Kurtz called the game “sickening.” MRCtv listed out the many reasons the game was “disturbing.”
The National Review has sarcastically noted that the best part about the game is that it’s not just fun, but “educational”: “Between levels we get informative tidbits about how Obamacare lowers the deficit, and how most Republicans think the president is a Muslim. There are lessons to be learned from dying in the game, too, which happens if you don’t get health insurance, and after which you are told: ‘there’s no such thing as God.’”
We’re not giving you the evil video game’s website. You can look it up yourself on the web.

They want war? Let’s give them war!

This is the E-mail I sent to UPS. Feel free to use!

I’m writing you to object to UPS’s advertising company, StarvingEyes Advergaming’s release of the new video game, “Tea Party Zombies Must Die,” which encourages players to mow down conservative commentators, political figures and Tea Partiers. You should know that I am boycotting UPS until StarvingEyes withdraws the video game.

update:

This afternoon, Fellowship of the Minds received an e-mail from Ranjitsinh Mahida, who claims he’s the Litigation & Intellectual Property Counsel for A+E Networks. The latter owns the History Channel.

Mr. Mahida expresses shock and disapproval about the “Tea Party Zombies Must Die” video game. He denies that History Channel is a client of StarvingEyes and says he’s contacted the advertising company to ask that “History Channel” be removed from StarvingEyes’ website as its client. Mr. Mahida requests that FOTM also remove History Channel from this post.

So I went on StarvingEyes’ website, at around 4:45 pm, west coast time, but History Channel is still listed as a client. So I politely wrote back to Mr. Mahida, informing him that as long as History Channel remains listed as a client on StarvingEyes’ website, History Channel will remain on this post.

About 1½ hours later, I looked at StarvingEyes’ website again. The entire vertical column of Clients — including History Channel — has vanished from the site. I have, therefore, deleted History Channel from this post.

I hope History Channel is taking Jason Oda and StarvingEyes to court with a humongous lawsuit up their wazoo.

All this happened only because so many FOTM readers contacted History Channel to express their outrage. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

A big h/t to my best cyberbud and FOTM’s co-founder Steve.

American Ingenuity in Rescue of Chilean Miners

On October 13, 2010, the world watched with amazement at the miraculous rescue of 33 miners from the San José copper-gold mine in Copiacó, Chilé. The miners had been trapped 2,300 ft. deep inside the bowels of the mine for more than 2 months.
From the beginning of the mine accident, the government of Chilé, under the impressive leadership of President Sebastián Piñera, took charge of the rescue operation. Contrasts cannot be more striking between Piñera’s and Obama’s belated, unempathic, and ineffectual handling of the BP Gulf oil disaster. (More on this in a future post.) Unlike Obama, who finally acceded to other governments’ offers of help only late into the Gulf disaster, Piñera turned to the world for help at the very beginning.
The miraculous rescue of all 33 miners was a true international multi-government operation. Unmentioned by both the U.S. media and the Obama administration — and therefore little known by the American people — is this: American ingenuity and assistance played an important roleIt is not an exaggeration to say that without American help, the Chilean miners might still be entombed deep within the earth.
Saying that is neither boastful nor prideful; it is simply a statement of fact. One would think that, in our troubled times — of record-high unemployment and pervasive disaffection — our own government would make this known to give the American people a much-needed boost of national pride and confidence. Sadly, the man who pretends to be President does not and will not do that. But he does bow to dictators and apologize and trash America before the world.
It is left to bloggers and e-mailers to inform Americans how their country had helped in the Chilean miners’ rescue.
How America Helped
Here are the American private industries, together with NASA, which were crucial in the rescue operation but are unmentioned and unacknowledged by their supposed President, the fraud in the White House:

  1. Schramm Inc. of West Chester, Pennsylvania built the drills and equipment used to reach the trapped miners.
  2. Drillers Supply International of northwest Houston helped with the plan and the crew to dig a hole that’s safe enough and wide enough to lift the miners to freedom.
  3. Center Rock Company, also from Pennsylvania, built the drill bits used to reach the miners.
  4. UPS, the US shipping company, delivered the 13-ton drilling equipment from Pennsylvania to Chile in less than 48 hours.
  5. Crews from Layne Christensen Company of Wichita, Kansas, and its subsidiary Geotec Boyles Bros. worked the drills and machinery to locate and reach the miners and then enlarge the holes to ultimately rescue them.
  6. Jeff Hart of Denver, Colorado was called off his job drilling water wells for the U.S. Army’s forward operating bases in Afghanistan to lead the drilling crew that reached the miners.
  7. Atlas Copco Construction Mining Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provided consulting on how to make drilling equipment from different sources work together under differing pressure specifications.
  8. Aries Central California Video of Fresno, California, designed the special cameras that were lowered nearly a mile into the ground sending back video of the miners.
  9. Zephyr Technologies of Annapolis, Maryland, made the remote monitors of vital signs that miners were to wear during their ascent.

  10. The Phoenix rescue pod

    NASA engineers
designed the “Phoenix” capsule that miners would be
brought to the surface in, and provided medical consulting, special diets and spandex suits to maintain miners’ blood pressure as they were brought back to the surface.

Oh, and Canadian-based Precision Drilling Corp. and South-African company Murray & Roberts drilled backup rescue shafts in case the American rig failed — which it didn’t.
Fellowship of the Minds applaud the ingenuity and achievements of the above American businesses and individuals. We are proud of you. Well done!

GO GREEN – RECYCLE  CONGRESS IN 2010.
TAKE OUT THE TRASH NOV. 2!
H/t beloved fellow Igor and my dear friend Nancy.
