More "Transparency"

It’s an illusion

WH Working on Executive Order That Critics Say Will Stifle Political Speech

Via CNSNews.com: In what the White House calls a push for transparency, a pending executive order would require companies doing business with the federal government to disclose political contributions to independent groups, but would not place the same requirement on public employee unions or federal grant recipients that typically donate to Democrats.
Entitled the “Disclosure of Political Spending By Government Contractors,” the order would implement parts of the DISCLOSE Act, which failed to get through Congress last year. The legislation sought to restrict campaign speech after the landmark Citizens United vs. Federal Elections Commission U.S. Supreme Court ruling that upheld the right of corporations and unions to donate to campaigns.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed Monday that work is underway on the draft order, and linked the move to President Obama’s stated commitment to transparency.
Government contractors are already required to disclose contributions to political candidates. This executive order would require the disclosure of any donations to independent groups, where conservative groups outspent liberal ones in the 2010 election.
The DISCLOSE Act was pushed by Sen. Charles Schumer (D.-N.Y.), and Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.). Announcing the bill at a Feb. 11, 2010 press conference, Schumer said that its provisions “will make them [corporations] think twice before spending unlimited sums to influence elections. The deterrent effect should not be underestimated.”
Hans A. von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, was skeptical of Carney’s assertion that the president was merely committed to transparency.
“If transparency is the true goal, why isn’t the proposed executive order covering any outside entity that gets federal money? It only applies to government contractors, not grant recipients like Planned Parenthood,” he told CNSNews.com. “Public employee unions are also exempt from this order.”
Ah, yes.  Exempt those that vote democrat yet in the name of “transparency”, yet those that tend to donate to independent groups must disclose their donations.  Glad to know that before I vote, I will be able to determine which evil corporation had an influence on my vote.

Bill Whittle: Eat the Rich

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=661pi6K-8WQ]
Is America really broke? Michael Moore (and others) tells us that there are oceans of cash being hoarded by the wealthy. But Iowahawk (iowahawk.typepad.com) did a little addition, and armed with these statistics Bill and the ‘Hawk blow a hole in the “hoarding” lie big enough to fit a documentary filmmaker through.

A Hero in His Own Mind

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwixYYFmSHI]
State Rep. Dave Cheatham (D-Ind.) was part of the team of  Democrats who fled the state to protest a Republican agenda they considered an assault on labor unions and public education.
This “representative” is now relating his walkout to a soldier’s service in Afghanistan (recounting a story his teacher wife heard from a student):  “Dad is getting sent to Afghanistan. He’s going to a country where people there are trying to take away the freedoms of other people there. So he’s leaving to do something good. A little girl said, it is kind of like Mr. Cheatham, he left to make our schools better.” And applause…
Yes, fleeing the state to stay in a hotel must be brutal with all that sand, extreme heat, inadequate facilities and occasional gunfire. Mr. Cheatham is an insult to our brave military personnel.

Civility

Defaming Michigan Governor Rick Snyder

The Michigan Education Association (MEA) pulled down a photo on their Facebook page of Republican Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder that had demonic symbols superimposed on Snyder’s forehead, referred to him as “Satan” and had Nazi swastikas and blood spills on the GOP elephant symbol.
The Mackinac Center for Public Policy alerted the MEA Tuesday morning of the photo on their page and it was shortly thereafter taken down. MEA spokesman Doug Pratt said they investigated the post and found it was an MEA Facebook “fan” who had no affiliation with the teachers’ union.
“We do monitor our page — unfortunately, we missed this one (items move down the Facebook feed pretty quickly, so if we miss it, it can get buried fast),” Pratt said in an email. “We’ve deleted the item. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.”
So much for civility from the tolerant liberals. Wonder if the culprit attended Michigan’s Bullying Prevention Conference.

No Shame

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lZbxhjVXMo]
Via Gateway Pundit: The International Association of Firefighters is using tasteless images from the Oklahoma City Bombing to fight a state bill which changes how public safety labor unions and cities handle contract disputes.
It asks residents to oppose Senate Bill 826, which changes how public safety labor unions and cities handle contract disputes. Several images of firefighters are used in the commercial, including a short clip of the remnants of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building after it was bombed April 19, 1995.
When the image of the bombed Murrah Building is shown in the commercial, a narrator says: “We’re there when you need us. Now we need you. Tell politicians to do what’s right: Oppose SB 826 and support Oklahoma’s firefighters.”
Sen. David Holt, R-Oklahoma City, wants the union television advertisement taken off the air. “The AFL-CIO and the IAFF should be ashamed of this horrific and tasteless commercial,” said Sen. David Holt, R-Oklahoma City. “The victims and heroes of April 19th are not political pawns to be exploited whenever the Legislature seeks to reform a union negotiating process.
Shameful, using the images of a national tragedy to oppose a bill they don’t like.

Mayhem in Madison

Unions want a fight

MADISON, Wis. — Republicans in charge of the Wisconsin Senate have apparently discovered a way to strip nearly all collective bargaining rights from public workers, by passing Democrats. All 14 Senate Democrats left the state nearly three weeks ago, preventing the chamber from having enough members present to consider Gov. Scott Walker’s so-called “budget repair bill” — a proposal introduced to plug a $137 million budget shortfall.  MSNBC reported “GOP rams anti-union bill through Wisconsin Senate”.
Gov. Scott Walker this evening applauded the Senate’s actions. “The Senate Democrats have had three weeks to debate this bill and were offered repeated opportunities to come home, which they refused. In order to move the state forward, I applaud the Legislature’s action today to stand up to the status quo and take a step in the right direction to balance the budget and reform government. The action today will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs.”
Via Instapundit:   Meade on the scene at the Capitol says hundreds of protesters have gotten into the building, and security is vastly outnumbered.  Protesters are locking the Capitol doors shut from the inside using metal handcuffs, Meade reports from the scene. Plus this: “Meade called back to say, some of the doors are handcuffed shut and some are wide open. ‘ANYBODY CAN GET IN AND ANYBODY CAN BRING ANYTHING IN. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SECURITY WHATEVER.’”
Hold on folks, this is going to be a bumpy ride.

Obama Exempts Cronies From Obamacare

Democrats/liberals/Progressives  the Left touted Obamacare as being the much-needed “reform” of America’s “broken” healthcare system. But if Obamacare is so wonderful, why are increasing numbers of Americans exempted from this super wonderful healthcare law?
Dr. Milton R. Wolf, a board-certified diagnostic radiologist and Obama’s cousin (the maternal Dunham side of the family), writes in the Washington Times, WOLF: Tawdry details of Obamacare,” January 28, 2011:

If you would like to know what the White House really thinks of Obamacare, there’s an easy way. Look past its press releases. Ignore its promises. Forget its talking points. Instead, simply witness for yourself the outrageous way the White House protects its best friends from Obamacare.
Last year, we learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had granted 111 waivers to protect a lucky few from the onerous regulations of the new national health care overhaul. That number quickly and quietly climbed to 222, and last week we learned that the number of Obamacare privileged escapes has skyrocketed to 733.
Among the fortunate is a who’s who list of unions, businesses and even several cities and four states (Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio and Tennessee) but none of the friends of Barack feature as prominently as the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)….
Backroom deals have become par for the course for proponents of Obamacare. Senators were greased with special favors, like Nebraska Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson and his Cornhusker Kickback and Louisiana Democrat Sen. Mary L. Landrieu and her Louisiana Purchase. Even the American Medical Association was brought in line under threat of losing its exclusive and lucrative medical coding contracts with the government….
More than 500 of the 733 waivers…were granted in December but kept conveniently under wraps until the day after the president’s State of the Union address. HHS is no stranger to covering up bad news; in fact, this is becoming a disturbing pattern. Last year, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius hid from Congress until after the Obamacare vote a damning report from the Medicare and Medicaid Office of the Actuary showing Obamacare would cost $311 billion more than promised and would displace 14 million Americans from their current insurance.
…Backroom deals and cover-ups may be business as usual for Washington, but understanding why the Obama administration protects its friends from Obamacare offers special insight into what the purveyors of the mandate themselves think about their own law. This is key: The waivers aren’t meant to protect victims from unintended consequences of Obamacare; they are meant to exempt them from the very intentional increased costs of health insurance that the law causes. Under Section 2711 of the Public Health Service Act, Obamacare increases the annual cap of insurance benefits, which sounds great – as does everything else in big government – until the bill comes due, in this case, in the form of higher insurance premiums.
In short, the administration has decided that you will face increased health insurance premiums, but special friends in the unions will not. Look closely, and you’ll see not only the White House‘s duplicity but also what the Obama administration really thinks of its crown jewel, Obamacare. White House words say that the annual insurance benefit cap is a feature of the program, but its actions say that it’s a bug.
The question remains: If Obamacare is such a great law, why does the White House keep protecting its best friends from it?

KGB Blueprint on How to Subvert America

In 1976, France’s Justice Minister Jean Lecanuet was quoted in a Time magazine article making this prescient warning:

“The Communists are in the middle of an identity crisis and are taking up the mask of a certain reformism. If they ever came to power, the mask would fall.”

In America, former 1960s radical David Horowitz sounded a similar warning:

“The most basic principle of [Obama’s ideological mentor Saul] Alinsky’s advice to radicals is, lie to your opponents and potential opponents and disarm them by pretending to be moderates, liberals. This has been the most potent weapon of the left since the end of the Sixties. Racists like Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright posing as civil rights activists, radicals like Henry Waxman and Barney Frank posing as liberals.”

Horowitz is right: “Liberal” and “progressive” are just masks they’ve been hiding behind. But now the mask is off. The Left are revealing their true face. Here’s the evidence:

  1. On October 2, 2010, at the so-called One Nation Rally in Washington, D.C., liberals-Democrats-progressives finally came right out and openly admitted they’re SOCIALISTS and COMMUNISTS.
  2. In May 2010, the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) sued the Democrat Party for “stealing” the CPUSA’s platformCPUSA admitted that the so-called “new” Democratic agenda is, in fact, the product of a decades-long, painstaking campaign by CPUSA theorists, agitators, and underground subversive cells – which makes it the intellectual property of the Communist Party USA, protected by American copyright laws. “They stole our entire platform, rebranded it ‘progressive’, and claimed it as their own,” declared a CPUSA spokesperson at a press conference in San Francisco.

Now, in her article of November 30, 2010, “From France’s Warning To America,” Rachel Marsden tells us that in 1983 during a talk in Los Angeles, KGB propaganda expert Yuri Bezmenov had exposed the communists’ blueprint on how to subvert America. The following is excerpted from Marsden’s article:

Bezmenov identified six areas of ideological subversion of a population which would go unnoticed by the average person, much like one would not “notice the movement of the small hand of a clock.”
Religion: Bezmenov points out that a religious society cannot be subverted easily because of steadfast basic principles and values….
Education: Bezmenov suggests that subversion is facilitated when hard subjects such as science, math, physics and foreign languages are replaced with “history of urban warfare, natural foods, and home economics, and sexuality.” Anything that takes the student away from critical thinking and the ability to make up one’s own mind about the world…. Control its education, control its elite graduates.
Social life: Bezmenov says that when established links between individuals and groups of individuals are taken away and replaced by imposed, artificial institutions – “artificially democratically controlled bodies” – the chances of subverting the system increases. [Examples include social workers, state-run daycare centers, an extensive government welfare system, which render citizens increasingly dependent on the state.] …Bezmenov warns: “People are on the payroll of who? Society? No, bureaucracy.” Every time a… president tries to cut government spending or wean these workers off the government payroll and towards a more independent existence free of state control, he is met with fervent opposition [from unions].
Power structure: Bezmenov defines how unelected groups of people can control elected representatives. He is not only talking about the EU, but also something much more powerful on a national level: the media….
Labor relations: Destroying the traditionally established links between employer and employee, notes Bezmenov, leads ultimately to the traditional Marxist-Leninist exchange and “the death of natural bargaining.” This is where unions come in. The leaders’ positions are secure and well-funded, but the individual’s right to bargain and sell his work on his own behalf is suppressed along with his economic freedom. When union bosses order a strike, millions spill out into the streets on command….backed by the media’s bumper-sticker, “workers’ rights,” “class struggle” rhetoric.
Law and order: Bezmenov explains that subversion of society towards anarchy occurs through mocking and devaluing figures of law and order…[who defend] traditional Western values against cultural affronts such as the hijab and polygamy, deporting illegal immigrants, or cracking down on [violent criminals]….  Anarchy becomes the new authority: “A slow substitution of basic moral principles where a criminal is not a criminal – he’s a defendant,” says Bezmenov. Much like…today…[where] illegal aliens have come to be referred to as [mere “illegal immigrants” and “undocumented workers”]….
The Cold War did not end, it just found new battlefields. Bezmenov’s warnings date back 30 years. He said it would take about 15-20 years for an ideology to become entrenched in a society, using the weaknesses in societal structures.

It is now 27 years after Bezmenov made this revelation. So how is America doing according to this blueprint? By my count, all six areas identified in the blueprint are subverted.
Another good document to read is the warning sounded by Florida Congressman A. S. Herlong, Jr., in 1963: “Communist Goals For America.” Read it for yourself to see the “progress” the enemies of freedom have made in just our lifetime — all in the name of “liberalism” and “progressivism.”
It’s later than you think….
