Congrats, Seattle! You got rid of a socialist and gained a community organizer with a track record of “flash mobs”

Oh boy Seattle, you are in for another fun ride with the new city council member you just elected in District 3.

If you believe that anything is going to change with the repeat offenders, homeless crisis, homeless criminal activity and police response time, well, good luck with that optimism. You’re going to need it.

Bye, bye Socialist Sawant

Egan Orion is apparently going to defeat the incumbent socialist Kshama Sawant for Seattle City Council. In 2016, citizens in Seattle elected the socialist Sawant to council. Read about her radical views here.

On Tuesday, Seattle voters swapped her out for another far-left progressive – Egan Orion. His Twitter bio: “Writer, PrideFest and BBIA Executive Director, small business owner, and community activist running for Seattle City Council District 3.”

Hello Egan! Photo from his Twitter profile

His background/qualifications? From his web site:

“My grandfather was a Teamster who moved to Capitol Hill in the 1930’s to start a family. My parents were both teachers, but they wouldn’t be able to purchase a home in today’s Seattle. I will fight for living wage jobs and affordable housing options that protect and welcome diversity and dynamism in our neighborhoods.

I have a track record—from flash mobs to PrideFest—of creating opportunities and events that celebrate our diversity and unity. We are a dynamic, increasingly young and diverse city that needs to celebrate and protect what makes this a great place to live, work, and play.”

Egan does understand the seriousness of the homeless crisis in his demorat-run city. His solutions?

Build more affordable housing. Expand all types of housing. Change “Backyard Cottage” legislation. Stronger renter protections. Expand 24/7 low-barrier, high supervisions shelters. Prioritize treatment on-demand for mental health and substance use disorder.

All good ideas, yet ones that have been in place in Seattle for some time. All proposed solutions and millions of dollars spent have had a minimal impact on reducing homelessness in this demorat-run city.

At least Seattle voters had the good sense to get rid of the socialist. They’ve now got a replacement progressive. I’m not holding my breath that much is going to change in that failing city.
