Walnut Creek, CA: Doctors have seen more deaths by suicide during quarantine period than deaths from Wuhan virus

What did you think was going to happen when you strip people of their right to earn a livelihood and force them into isolation?

ABC 7 News reported on Thursday that doctors at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek they have seen more deaths by suicide during the stay-at-home order than deaths from the COVID-19 virus. From their report:

“The head of the trauma in the department believes mental health is suffering so much, it is time to end the shelter-in-place order.

“Personally I think it’s time,” said Dr. Mike deBoisblanc. “I think, originally, this (the shelter-in-place order) was put in place to flatten the curve and to make sure hospitals have the resources to take care of COVID patients. We have the current resources to do that and our other community health is suffering.”

The numbers are unprecedented, he said.

“We’ve never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time,” he said. “I mean we’ve seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.”

Wuhan Virus Overreach: Salem, OR salon owner fined $14k; gets visit from CPS

OSHA going after the salon owner because she opened her business against “orders.”

OSHA deems her an “employer” instead of a business who has independent contractors – which is how many, many salons operate. OSHA didn’t like her answers, so somehow CPS got involved and visited her family. A CPS bureaucrat questioned her son ALONE without a parent or attorney present.

From the Dana Loesch show:

“Dana (@DLoesch) is joined by Lindsey Graham, Owner of Glamour Salon in Salem, OR – who was recently fined $14,000 by OSHA for safely and responsibly opening her salon, and the additional oppressive tactics by CPS (Child Protective Services) getting involved, which is essentially the use of government agencies to bully her and her family. This is just another example of how tiny tyrants are showing themselves, and law abiding citizens end up as victims. None of this should happen in a FREE society! Moving the goalpost: Los Angeles County may stay locked down through August

Los Angeles County has a population of more than 10 million people. As of May 12, they had 33,180 confirmed cases of Wuhan virus which includes 1,613 deaths. You do the math.

Yet even with these extremely small numbers, County Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer said the stay at home order will “with all certainty” be extended possibly until July or August, according to Fox News.

Dr. Barbara Ferrer

The good doctor said the following, “Our hope is that by using the data we’d be slowly able to lift restrictions over the next three months. But without widely available therapeutic testing for the coronavirus or rapid at-home testing versions that would allow people to test themselves daily, it seems unlikely that restrictions would be completely eased.

Read the whole Fox News story here.

Gov. Newsom issued the mandatory stay at home order in California on March 19. The goal was to “flatten the curve” together and “bend the curve.”

Whatever that means.

Two months later and less than .004 percent of the Los Angeles County population has been confirmed to have Wuhan virus and has an even lower percentage of deaths.

Way to “use the data” move the goalpost.

The cost of economic shutdown: CA goes from $21B surplus to $53.4B budget shortfall

Taxpayers (whether local or federal) are going to have to cough up more money due to bureaucrats across the country completely shutting down economies.

My state announced yesterday that revenue collection for the month of April fell by $502.5 million. You know almost every local and state agency will be facing drastic shortages. But remember: #WeAreAllInThisTogether.

KTLA reports that Gov. Newsom announced that California will have a budget shortfall of $53.4 billion due to shutting down their state in late March. Just last year, they (supposedly) had a budget surplus of $21 billion.

Also, more than 4 million people have filed for unemployment in California as a result of the Wuhan virus shutdown.

You know the pain is going to come for taxpayer$: “Phil Ting, chairman of the budget committee in the state Assembly, said he doesn’t think the state can cut enough spending to fill the budget hole and “may have to look at some additional revenue.”

Mayor Lori Lightfoot Warns Stay-At-Home Violators: ‘We Will Take You To Jail, Period!’

From the mayor who violated her own social distancing rules in order to get HER hair cut. After all, SHE’S in the public eye so she be special.

She states that if you violate the “law,” you will be taken to jail. PERIOD.

I’m curious as to which LAW the good mayor will cite if you violate a stay at home ORDER.

Meanwhile in Chiraq: “4 dead, 30 hurt in Chicago weekend shootings so far

And this: “Illinois releases 146 sex offenders, including 3 sexually dangerous persons

Seems the REAL criminals in Chiraq and Illinois are the ones getting a free pass.

Welcome to the new America under the Wuhan virus tyranny.

A consequence of Wuhan virus? Suicides on the rise in eastern Washington county

This will come as no surprise, except maybe to the bureaucrats and “experts.”

Shutting down one’s livelihood and the economic machine that drives EVERYTHING for EVERYONE has consequences. A severe economic depression is about to hit this country due to governments shutting everything down to try and “save” all of us.

On March 30 I did the following post: “Suicides outpacing Wuhan virus deaths in Knox County, Tennessee.”

At the time a mayor in the county stated, “That number is completely shocking and makes me wonder if what we are doing now is really the best approach.”

Washington State has been under a “Stay at Home” order that has been extended to May 31.

Benton County, Washington has a population of just over 200,000 people. They have 494 positive cases of Wuhan virus with 43 deaths reported. You do the math.

The county has been ordered shut down for WEEKS and residents are to stay home for another month. As a result, unemployment is on the rise in Benton County.

So are suicides.

Last week the Tri-City Heralded reported that suicides in Benton County had surged in the seven weeks since the Wuhan virus outbreak. From their story:

The number of suicides in Benton County spiked since the middle of March.

Fourteen people died by suicide so far this year in the county. And eight of the deaths were between March 12 and April 23, Benton County Coroner Bill Leach said.

The increase coincides with the tightening of social and work restrictions to slow the spread of the new coronavirus and the respiratory illness it causes, COVID-19.”

The Kennewick Police also report “a growing number of calls about suicidal threats or concerns about people who might harm themselves.”

Unintended consequences: Stress and pressure put on families isolated in homes with abusers

This will come as no surprise.

Domestic violence is on the rise as a result of people being ordered to shelter at home or in place. I’ve seen it here in my small Oklahoma town. It’s happening across the country. See here, here, here, here and here.

Perp Christopher Stokes being “supervised” while free to commit murder

This story out of Milwaukee is particularly tragic: “Five dead in shooting at a home on Milwaukee’s north side”

The situation is being described as an act of “family violence” and “gun violence.”

I’d argue that this is due to the inability of the criminal justice system to effectively do its job. And the stress that is created with citizens being ordered to stay at home.

The perp, Christopher Stokes, shot and killed five family members between the ages of 14 and 41. He is a known felon who was being “supervised” by the Minnesota Department of Corrections since his prison release in 2015. His background includes: domestic violence convictions against two women, substantial battery, witness intimidation, bail jumping, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and felony child abuse (for which no charges were filed). The domestic violence convictions made him a prohibited possessor.

Yet we all know that gun control laws don’t stop criminals.

Read the whole sad story here.

Expect to read about more tragic domestic violence stories as “Stay at Home” orders are extended – and extended – and extended.
