29 criminal aliens released by Franklin County Sheriff’s Office in recent weeks

Press release from ICE dated 1/16/20:

“COLUMBUS — The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has released 29 criminal aliens and immigration violators since November 2019, despite written detainer requests filed with them by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“When dangerous criminal aliens are released into the community, public safety is needlessly put at risk because of the individual’s propensity to re-offend,” said Rebecca Adducci, field office director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) in Michigan and Ohio. “ICE remains committed to arresting and removing criminal aliens in the interest of public safety and national security, despite local decisions to not honor detainers and jeopardize the safety of its citizens.”

ICE recently apprehended the following criminal alien after his release from the Franklin County Sherriff’s Office with an active detainer in place:

• Hajir Muhammud, a 59-year old national of Somalia, was arrested by local authorities Dec. 27, for failure to register as a Tier 1 sex offender. He is a convicted sex offender for crimes involving children. ICE lodged a detainer following his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. On Jan. 6, ICE arrested Muhammud, and he is currently in custody pending removal proceedings.

However, several criminal aliens released by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are currently at-large. Efforts by ICE to apprehend these men are currently underway. They include:

• Edgar Moreno-Soto, a 25-year-old Mexican national, was arrested Nov. 6, for felony firearm charges, drugs, among other charges. ICE lodged a detainer after his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. His current location is unknown.
• Manuel Vazquez-Sanchez, a 25-year-old Mexican national, was arrested Nov. 8, for domestic violence, assault, falsification and menacing. He has been removed from the U.S. twice since 2018 ICE lodged a detainer after his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. His current location is unknown.
• Arturo Maya-Sanchez, a 28-year-old Mexican national, was arrested Nov. 9, for domestic violence, DUI and domestic violence. He has been removed from the U.S. twice since 2018. ICE lodged a detainer after his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. His current location is unknown.
• Marvin Fabricio Herdnandez-Chicas, a 24-year-old Salvadoran national, was arrested Nov. 3, for domestic violence and assault. ICE lodged a detainer after his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. His current location is unknown.
• Martin Antonio Paredes-Zamorano, aka Wilfred Vega, a 31-year-old Mexican national, was arrested Dec. 15, for DUI and having a loaded firearm in his vehicle. He was previously removed from the U.S. in 2014. ICE lodged a detainer following his arrest. He was subsequently released after Franklin County declined to honor the ICE detainer. His current location is unknown.

If you have any information on the above at-large individuals, please call the ICE tip line at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE (866-347-2423).”

It’s come to this: ICE issues warning to Montgomery County residents about criminal illegal aliens who may be released into the public

Since this past July, Montgomery County (MD) has released numerous sex child offenders who have recommitted crimes against children. These have been illegal aliens who were given a free pass by the sanctuary county. Read my previous posts about these dangerous offenders here.

Now ICE has issued a warning for residents of Montgomery and Pierce George Counties that their children (and women) may be in danger in the near future because of these counties refusal to cooperate with federal authorities. ICE has issued detainers for violent offenders that will most likely be ignored by the local illegal-alien-loving bureaucrats.

And even though Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said he would reverse some anti-ICE cooperation policies, it’s been all smoke and mirrors.

Liar: County Executive Marc Elrich

ICE issued the following press release on Nov. 22:

ICE announces Montgomery County, Prince George’s County criminal offenders shielded by current non-cooperation policies

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has repeatedly asked local jurisdictions to reconsider non-cooperation policies because those policies put politics before public safety. On Friday, ICE released more examples of foreign nationals with active ICE detainers who have been detained for serious criminal offenses in Maryland’s Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties. These individuals have not yet been released to the community to potentially reoffend, and ICE asks that they are transferred to its custody prior to that happening.

ICE maintains that cooperation with local law enforcement is essential to protecting public safety, and the agency aims to work cooperatively with local jurisdictions to ensure that criminal aliens are not released into U.S. communities to commit additional crimes.

“The county leadership has chosen misguided politics over public safety,” said Francisco Madrigal, acting Baltimore field office director. “The individuals we have lodged detainers against have been arrested in the community and will likely be released directly back into that community under these dangerous policies. We aren’t asking Montgomery County or Prince George’s County to conduct immigration enforcement, we’re asking them to honor a lawful request to transfer these individuals into our custody where they can avail themselves of due process in the immigration court system.”

Tell me again which party is actively engaging in a #waronwomen (and children)?

Insanity: Library board can’t agree on sex crime background checks proposed after drag queen story event

It’s come to this: We now have people considering allowing “leeway” when it comes to sex offenders hosting children’s events.

And there’s a very good reason to do those background checks.

As reported by Wichita Eagle: A proposal to background-check people for past sex offenses before they are allowed to make presentations at Wichita libraries was put on hold Tuesday, after a split in the board between those who want a complete ban on sex offenders and those who want staff to have some leeway.

The policy originated in a backlash against a drag queen story time almost a year ago at the Advanced Learning Library and has been criticized by the leader of the LGBT-rights group Equality Kansas.

It was apparent from the comments at Tuesday’s meeting that there is strong consensus on the library board that prospective program presenters should be screened through a national web site listing sex offenders.

But that consensus broke down over the issue of how much discretion the staff should have in allowing past sex offenders to participate in library presentations.

Discretion advised…

Board members were split between those who said registered sex offenders should be automatically disqualified from ever giving a talk at the library, and those who said it should be allowable in some circumstances.

On a motion from board Chairman Kevin McWhorter, the board voted to send the policy back to its operations committee for further revision.

Board member Lamont Anderson Sr. referenced a long list of sex crimes covered by the proposed policy including rape, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated sodomy, solicitation of prostitution and lewd and lascivious conduct. “To me, some of these, they’re just hard noes,” Anderson said. “It’s not someone I would want presenting to my granddaughter. That’s just me being truthful. When you don’t have a locked-down policy at certain times, you sometimes can create a slippery slope where something gets through the cracks.”

But board member Jonathan Winkler argued that standards for inclusion in the offender registry vary from state to state and that a zero tolerance policy could wrongly ban an ordinary gay person for consensual same-sex conduct that was once illegal but no longer is.

“We wanted to give staff the flexibility to work around situations like that,” he said, speaking through a sign-language interpreter.

Library Director Cynthia Berner said allowing sex offenders to present to children would be a non-starter for her and the staff. But she said it might be OK to include a former sex offender in an adults-only discussion about the criminal justice system.

Several speakers, including the anti-LGBT pastor who suggested the idea of background checks to the board, urged the members to delay passing the policy and use the time to make it more strict.

Pastor Craig Coffey, who leads a small congregation in Derby, said the board erred earlier in passing a policy that appears to allow drag queen story hours like the “Say YAAAS to Reading” event that drew a standing-room-only crowd at the library last year.
