Are you paid unfairly because you’re a woman? Jennifer Newsom wants you to complain

Jennifer Newsom wants to lift up everyone…

Perpetual victimhood is not a good look…

From Sacramento Bee: If you’re a woman who’s not being paid as much as your male colleagues, Jennifer Siebel Newsom wants you to complain.

In the first big initiative she’s undertaken since her husband Gavin Newsom became governor, Siebel Newsom on Monday launched a campaign to narrow the gender pay gap in California by educating employers on how to pay workers fairly and telling employees how to report companies that break the rules.

Siebel Newsom says uplifting women and girls is her priority as California’s first partner, the title she uses instead of first lady.

“When we lift up women, we lift up everyone,” she said. “It’s time to close the gap.”

How liberals “lift up women”

She’s leading the Equal Pay California campaign alongside Time’s Up, a group formed amid the #MeToo movement to advocate gender equality in the workplace, and the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. It’s aimed at promoting compliance with a state law that took effect in 2016 that strengthened California’s equal pay protections.

California has the smallest gender pay gap in the country, according to the American Association of University Women, but women in the state still make roughly 89 cents for every dollar men make.

Despite California’s progress, Siebel Newsom and others involved with the campaign say the state needs to do more to close the gap.

California has had equal pay protections for decades, but the laws weren’t strong enough, said state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, a Santa Barbara Democrat who wrote the new law that took effect in 2016.

It says employers can’t pay female workers less than male colleagues who do “substantially similar” work, a provision aimed at helping women prove discrimination even if their male counterparts have different job titles. It also bans retaliation against employees for discussing their wages and puts the burden on employers to show they pay men and women equitably.

“Paying women less than men for substantially similar work is a form of wage theft,” California Labor Secretary Julie Su said. “Passing good laws is not the finish line. It puts us at the start of a great race and enforcement is how we win.”

The new campaign is promoting a website with resources for companies, such as guidelines on how to set equitable wages. For employees, it includes information on how to report employers that don’t pay equitable wages to the state, or file a lawsuit against them.

Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker with a long history of advocating feminist causes, announced the campaign at an event at the Capitol on Monday morning, where she also endorsed a paid family leave bill in the Legislature.

How liberals “lift up women”

She touted commitments from 13 California businesses, including Apple and AT&T, to conduct their own internal reviews of their pay practices.

“I believe that there are incredible companies in this state who want to do good and want to do better,” Siebel Newsom said. “Now they have the tools, the resources and no excuses.”

Demorat intern arrested after doxxing GOP senators, faces 50 years in prison

Good. Make an example out of this unhinged demorat.

From Fox News: The arrest of a Democratic congressional intern this week for allegedly publishing the private information of three Republican lawmakers, with police investigating more possible incidents, underscores what has become an increasingly confrontational approach by the anti-Trump ‘resistance.’

Jackson Cosko, who recently worked as an unpaid intern for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, was arrested for posting the personal information of Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah on Wikipedia — including their home addresses.

Fox News learned Wednesday that Capitol Hill police are investigating additional doxxing incidents involving at least two senators, including Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. It was not clear if Cosko — who worked with other Democratic lawmakers including Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and former Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. — was involved.

Cosko had worked in a host of roles in the House and Senate, including as press assistant and legislative correspondent, according to his LinkedIn page.

Former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” Thursday that the wide range of charges against Cosko, including witness tampering and burglary, suggests there could be more to the case than meets the eye.

“With seven different charges out there, it really does makes it sound like it’s more sophisticated and widespread because now you see Sen. Rand Paul is also having issues,” he said, although he added that it wasn’t clear if Cosko was connected to the Paul case.

While it was not clear what the motivation was behind the posting of personal information (known as “doxxing”), Graham, Lee and Hatch have been outspoken defenders of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh amid sexual assault allegations against him. The doxxing on Thursday came moments after Graham had scorched Senate Democrats in a fiery speech for what he called “an unethical sham” in their treatment of Kavanaugh.

The incident marks the latest in escalating attacks against Republican lawmakers and Trump administration officials — particularly in relation to the Kavanaugh controversy — by far left-wing activists, which have occasionally picked up the support of Democratic lawmakers.

A day after the doxxing, two female activists cornered Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., in an elevator on Friday and screamed at him, with one of them repeatedly demanding he look at her as she accused him of suggesting her own sexual assault “doesn’t matter.”

Moments later, Flake demanded an FBI investigation into the accusations against Kavanaugh — forcing GOP leaders, faced with little room for error on Senate votes, to accede. It was not clear if the dressing down caused Flake to waver, but he later told The Atlantic that the incident “struck a chord.”

Days earlier on Monday, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and his wife Heidi were hounded out of a restaurant by protesters peppering the senator with questions about Kavanaugh and chanting “we believe survivors” and “cancel Kavanaugh.” His Democratic opponent in the Texas Senate race, Beto O’Rouke, condemned the incident and said his family “should be treated with respect.”

The tactic of hounding lawmakers and Trump officials out of restaurants became more prevalent in June, when White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen were driven out of restaurants amid the backlash over the separation of illegal immigrant families at the border.

That move was encouraged by Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., who days later called on supporters to confront Trump officials in public spaces.

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she told a crowd.

In July, Sen. Cory Booker, D-NJ., who recently compared himself to Thracian gladiator Spartacus, told supporters to go to Capitol Hill and “get in the face of some congresspeople.”

This week, Republicans have been pushing back against such tactics. Some have pointed to the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., at a Republican baseball practice last year as a reminder of how heated rhetoric can lead to much worse.

Kelley Paul, the wife of Sen. Paul, wrote in an open letter to Sen. Booker, saying that she now keeps a loaded gun by her bed after her family has “experienced violence and threats of violence at a horrifying level.”

“I would call on you to retract your statement,” she said. “I would call on you to condemn violence, the leaking of elected officials’ personal addresses (our address was leaked from a Senate directory given only to senators), and the intimidation and threats that are being hurled at them and their families.”

The Daily Caller reported that Sen. David Perdue, R-Ga., and his wife were chased through Reagan National Airport by activists — who kept yelling at him even as he tried to use the bathroom.

On the Senate floor on Wednesday, Perdue blamed Democrats for inciting such behavior, and read quotes he said were inciting harassment of Republicans in public.

“This is America, but these are the tactics of the Brownshirts in Germany in the 1930s, Mr. President,” he said. “Unacceptable. Totally irresponsible.”

According to the Washington Examiner, Cosko could face 50 years in federal prison.

Tourism down in Lexington, home of infamous Red Hen Restaurant

Actions have consequences.

Lexington, Virginia is learning that lesson.

Lexington is the home of The Red Hen Restaurant where, last June, the owner,  Stephanie Wilkinson, refused to serve White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders and her in-laws because of President Trump’s policy on illegal border-crossers.

Wilkinson was so unhinged that she actually followed Sanders’ in-laws to another restaurant and staged a protest outside while the in-laws — who, irony of irony, are Democrats — were dining.

Alison Graham reports for The Roanoke Times, Sept. 2, 2018, that Rockbridge Regional Tourism is comprised of Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County, with Lexington bringing in the largest number of tourists.

Last Thursday, the Rockbridge Regional Tourism (RRT) board met with the Lexington City Council to discuss tourism initiatives and numbers. Evidently, the tourism numbers are bad because the board approved a recovery plan to use emergency funds to boost its marketing and spread positive messages of the area, especially Lexington, to combat the slew of negative national media coverage because of The Red Hen restaurant.

The RRT receives 0.8% of the lodging and meals tax collected from each locality. About 20% of its annual $800,000 budget is put into a reserve for emergencies, which is usually saved. But the RRT board agreed the region is in desperate need of positive coverage after The Red Hen incident. The plan is to spend an additional $5,000 per month from July through September to boost the region’s image.

RRT’s Director of Marketing Patty Williams said the area is still feeling effects from “the controversy”. During the immediate aftermath of the Red Hen incident, the tourism office received thousands of phone calls and emails. Last Thursday, the RRT received a letter from a family in Georgia who said they would never come back to the area because of what happened. “For a town our size, it was a significant impact,” Williams said.

The tourism office also decided to conduct a perceptions survey in its top four markets — Roanoke, Richmond, Norfolk and Washington, D.C. The office is working with a survey company to find frequent travelers living in those areas to answer questions about whether they recall the incident, where it took place and whether it would affect their decision to travel there. A total of 400 people will be surveyed.

Williams said the responses to the survey will help indicate where marketing money should be spent and what kind of messages need to be sent out: “We would certainly try to portray ourselves as a friendly, welcoming place. And focus our marketing toward accomplishing that goal.” RRT has a new video in the works that will feature that message.

The Red Hen Restaurant, at 11 E Washington St, Lexington, VA 24450, was closed for two weeks after its owner’s disgraceful treatment of Sarah Sanders. It is re-opened; the hours are Wed-Sat 5 pm to 9:30 pm.

In the 2016 presidential election, Lexington, population 7,000, voted overwhelmingly against Trump, in contrast to Rockbridge County (Lexington is the county seat) which voted for Trump 65.57% – 34.44% (Virginia Department of Elections).

Lexington businesses denounce Red Hen owner Stephanie Wilkinson

On Friday night, June 23, 2018, The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, VA, became infamous when its co-owner Stephanie Wilkinson — who is also the director of Main Street Lexington, a civic organization that promotes the city’s businesses — booted out White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who was accompanied by her in-laws.

Wilkinson claims that her restaurant employees objected to Sanders’ presence because of President Trump’s no-transgenders-in-the-US-military policy and his  “immigration policy” determination to actually implement federal laws on illegal border-crossing.

Note: Duncan Richter, 51, is Wilkinson’s domestic partner and a philosophy professor at Virginia Military Institute.

Wilkinson, 55, who has a Ph.D. in European and American Religious History from the University of Virginia and is reputed to be a cousin of snake-tongue Meryl Streep, even followed Sanders’ in-laws to a restaurant across the street, and organized a protest outside the restaurant while the in-laws were dining. The irony is that Sanders’ in-laws are Democrats.

The blow back from Lexington against Wilkinson was swift.

Mere hours after Wilkinson kicked Sanders & Co. out of The Red Hen, Historic Downtown Lexington Virginia (HDLV) denounced Wilkinson’s behavior on their Facebook page (Note the Facebook page is no longer available to the public, but the post is preserved on Conservative Tree House, aka The Last Refuge):

And this formal statement (retweeted here):

We do not condone the actions of Stephanie Wilkinson owner of the Red Hen Restaurant and Director of Main Street Lexington.

She has embarrassed our town and has given Lexington a bad reputation. So many people are upset and the negative impact and nasty backlash towards our little community is downright appalling.

Our town is actually a wonderful place. Please do not condemn us for one persons [sic] action.

According to the Washington Post, “Lexington, population 7,000, had voted overwhelmingly against Trump in a county that voted overwhelmingly for him.” In the 2016 presidential election, Rockbridge County (Lexington is the county seat) voted for Trump 65.57% – 34.44% (Virginia Department of Elections).

On Tuesday, June 26, Stephanie Wilkinson resigned from her role as Executive Director of Main Street Lexington.

Elizabeth Outland Branner, the president of the organization, wrote in an email:

“Considering the events of the past weekend, Stephanie felt it best that for the continued success of Main Street Lexington, she should step aside.”

More Democrat psychopathy: Red Hen owner pursued Sanders in-laws to another restaurant; burnt decapitated animal on DHS employee’s front porch

Last Friday night, June 23, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her in-laws went to The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, VA.
There, restaurant owner Stephanie Wilkinson told Ms. Sanders to leave, ostensibly because restaurant employees object to Sanders’ presence because of President Trump’s no transgenders in the U.S. military policy and his  “immigration policy” determination to actually implement federal laws on illegal border-crossing.

See “Liberal Tolerance: Red Hen restaurant kicks out White House press secretary Sarah Sanders

It must be noted that what the jackals of the Mainstream Media call “separation of families” is actually the Trump administration enacting a measure that flowed from the  Clinton-era Flores vs. Reno Supreme Court decision allowing unaccompanied illegal border-crossing minors be held “in the least restrictive setting appropriate to the minor’s age and special needs.”

But Wilkinson wasn’t content with kicking Sanders out of The Red Hen.
According to Governor Mike Huckabee, Wilkinson actually followed Sanders’ in-laws to another restaurant across the street, and organized a protest outside while the in-laws were dining.

Meanwhile, around two dozen threats were made in the past few days, primarily against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. Leftwing psychopaths also doxxed thousands of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees and released their personally identifiable information on social media.

A senior DHS official found a burnt and decapitated animal on the front porch of his home in Washington, DC. (ABC News)

Where’s the outcry from PETA and the Humane Society?

On Saturday, June 23, Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Claire M. Grady issued a memo warning DHS employees to stay on alert because of “specific and credible threats that have been levied against certain DHS employees and a sharp increase in the overall number of general threats against DHS employees.” The memo recommends DHS employees to “always keep doors and windows locked, be aware of unexpected changes” at their homes and “utilize maximum security setting on social media platforms.”  (Washington Times)

Democrat Congresswoman Maxine Waters calls for mob attack on Trump administration

In June 2013, Rush Limbaugh said America was in the midst of a coup d’état.
Five years later, things have only become even worse.
Democrats and their jackals in the MSM no longer subscribe to the rules of conduct that make a democratic polity possible — those of free speech without intimidation or threats of violence, the marketplace of ideas of peaceful political debate and disagreement, and the losers waiting for their turn and abiding by the results of lawfully-conducted elections.
On Saturday, June 23, 2018, at a rally in Los Angeles, referring to Red Hen restaurant kicking out White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) — one of Washington’s ten most corrupt politicians — called for attacks on members of the Trump administration:

“If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

The crowd cheered and clapped.

The Democratic Party has become rabidly anti-democratic.
A democracy* cannot survive under the circumstances America now finds itself.
Liberty in tears

*Note: Democracy, from the root Greek words demos (people) and kratia (rule), means rule by the people. There are two kinds of democracy: direct or representative. The U.S. is a republic, i.e., a representative democracy, wherein the people supposedly rule via their elected representatives.

Update (June 26):

There is a White House petition to expell Maxine Waters from Congress. As of this morning, 30,509 have signed. The petition needs another 69,491 signatures to meet its goal of 100,000. To sign the petition, go here.

Hollyweird hypocrites: Self-proclaimed feminist stars keep attacking Sarah Sanders for her looks

chelsea handler tweet
From Fox News: Hollywood women have banded together like never before on issues including pay inequality and sexual harassment, declaring that women all over the world need to stick together and be supportive of one another. But experts say several stars aren’t practicing what they preach when it comes to Donald Trump’s press secretary, Sarah Sanders.
Self-proclaimed activist Chelsea Handler wrote in an op-ed for Thrive in Dec. 2016: “Let’s stop it with the dialogue about how women look or what they wear, or if they’ve gained or lost weight. We are more guilty of this with each other than most men are.”
Cher has often spoken out about the sexualization of womendeclaring at the Women’s March on Jan. 20 that she “believe[s] in this movement.”
But both stars recently attacked Sanders solely over her looks.
Cher tweeted to Sanders on Tuesday to “stop dressing like a sister wife.” After fans slammed Cher for the hurtful tweet, she followed up by admitting it was “kinda mean” but “so funny.”
Handler has gone even further than Cher by mocking Sanders’ “summer whore lipstick” and calling her a “harlot” on her Netflix show. Comedian Fortune Feimster even wore exaggerated makeup to play Sanders for a skit on Handler’s now-defunct series.
And “Saturday Night Live” took a similar swipe at the press secretary’s outfits by putting the show’s Sanders character in a revealing outfit to dance provocatively to a pop song in a November 2017 episode.
The show has also dressed the Sanders character, played by Aidy Bryant, in a bright pink dress to mock the press secretary’s frequent color choice.
Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America, told Fox News Cher’s recent insults proves Hollywood feminists don’t play by their own rules when it comes to conservative women.
“Cher’s attack on Sarah is yet another example of how liberal women in all types of powerful positions stand up for only those women who adhere to their ideology,” Nance told Fox News. “If you’re a conservative woman, prepare to be thrown out of the feminist tent. Their message is that some women will be supported. That some women will be empowered. That some women will [be] trusted. But they don’t support all women and especially those of us who support life.”
Dan Gainor, vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center, echoed Nance’s comments adding that the recent attacks on Sanders’ looks are “especially offensive.”
They don’t just attack her for being conservative. They dare to treat her as if she’s not a woman. They blast her clothes and say she dresses like a ‘sister wife,'” Gainor said. “…Chelsea Handler called her a ‘harlot’ with ‘summer whore lipstick.’ And these are women doing this. Imagine the media outrage if conservatives dared to treat a liberal woman with such disgust.”
He added, “Liberals hate anyone who doesn’t side with them.”
Branding and public relations expert Scott Pinsker told Fox News these stars are hurting their brands by attacking Trump’s press secretary.
“An awful lot of women in America look more like Sarah Sanders than the Hollywood starlets who are bashing Trump and his supporters on all the award shows,” Pinsker explained. “If you want to disagree with Ms. Sanders’ political positions, that’s perfectly legitimate, but mocking her for being normal-looking isn’t exactly empowering to women.”
