Appears that San Francisco cares more about their homeless criminals than law-abiding citizens

Would you trust that this guy will show up for his trial?/SF Police Dept. photo

Just like Seattle, it appears that San Francisco has no desire to hold the homeless accountable for their criminal actions.

Both demorat-run cities allow the homeless to rule the streets with no real consequences for their actions. No wonder both cities have become such sh*tholes.

The latest out of San Francisco? A 25-year-old man – with no permanent address in San Francisco – was released from jail after attacking a woman at the front door of her condo building. He was charged with false imprisonment, attempted robbery and misdemeanor battery.

As reported by Katie Dowd at the SF Gate, the perp is to return to court next month.

Um yeah, you can be assured he’ll return for his trial next month. He’s also ordered to stay away from the victim.

According to the victim, police took 30 minutes to arrive. Yet SF Police say they responded in 22 minutes.

The victim tweeted the following to Gov. Newsom:

“@GavinNewsom Please watch this video of me getting attacked at my front door less than 72-hrs ago. The man who attacked me was released this morning because the judge, Christine Van Aken believes that this man is not a danger to our community. “PLEASE SAVE OUR CITY!!”

Attention Nancy: San Francisco saw 150 percent increase in fentanyl-related deaths last year

Nancy Pelosi’s pinned tweet (as of Saturday afternoon):

“House Democrats have accomplished so much already. So far we have taken action to… Defend Americans’ access to affordable health care and prescription drugs.”

As reported by Fox News: The number of deaths from fentanyl overdoses in San Francisco jumped by nearly 150 percent last year, according to a report by the city’s public health department made public this week.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, 89 deaths in the city were attributed to fentanyl overdoses, up from 37 deaths in 2017. By comparison, 70 people died from prescription opioid overdoses and 60 deaths were attributed to heroin overdoses.

A preliminary report released in June attributed 57 deaths to fentanyl overdoses, but health officials told the Chronicle they had expected that figure to increase as the city medical examiner determined the cause of more deaths.

The city has experienced an uptick in fentanyl-related deaths since 2008, when five deaths were reported. In 2010, six deaths were attributed to the drug, which killed 22 people in 2016.

It’s not a huge surprise to see this, although it’s certainly disappointing and sad to have lost this many lives in the city,” Dr. Phillip Coffin, the director of substance use research for the San Francisco Department of Public Health, told the Chronicle. “Unfortunately, there is no locality that can withstand the introduction of fentanyl without some increase in mortality.”

In its legal form, fentanyl is used to treat patients recovering from surgery. However, the synthetic drug is often mixed with other drugs like heroin and cocaine in powder form for those looking to get high, KTVU reported in June.

“In San Francisco, that’s how fentanyl came to us. In counterfeit pills at first a few years ago. At this point it is its own drug supply,” Kristen Marshall from the Drug Overdose Prevention & Education Project told the station.

Fentanyl is a highly addictive opiate that is 100 times more potent than other prescription opioids like morphine, according to the paper.

Liberal utopia of San Francisco: Car break-ins double at Golden Gate parking lot

Feces, needles, drugs, rats and car break-ins! Aren’t you in a hurry to plan your next vacation to San Francisco?

Even if this article claims that break-ins have declined, it must just be for this year. My blog post from last September told a difference story: “San Francisco had more than 30,000 car break-ins reported last year. The number of break-ins has tripled since 2010.”

From SF Gate: Signs that urge, “PREVENT AUTO THEFT – TAKE YOUR VALUABLES WITH YOU,” are posted throughout the parking lot at the Golden Gate Bridge. But despite the warning signs, car break-ins are on the rise at the iconic San Francisco tourist attraction, which brings in more than 10 million visitors per year.

As first reported by KGO, there has been a spike in auto burglaries at the bridge’s parking areas. Seventy-one incidents were reported in just the past seven months — more than double last year’s total of 38, according to Golden Gate Bridge law enforcement.

Burglars tend to target vehicles with visible personal belongings, like suitcases, purses, backpacks, and other possessions of potential value. Tourists who come to visit the Golden Gate Bridge are especially easy targets.

This uptick in auto burglaries at Golden Gate parking lots contrasts with a city-wide decline in car break-ins, as reported by The Chronicle. Even so, this downward trend translates to 1,932 vehicle break-ins across San Francisco in the month of June alone.

Often, the auto burglars get away with the crime, too. The Chronicle found that only 2% of car break-in cases result in arrest.

Drugs, needles, feces and rats, oh my! Experience cocktails at a San Francisco bar while rats crawl around you

From Fox News: San Francisco wants to show you its creepy past by making you drink with live rats.

The San Francisco Dungeon in Fisherman’s Wharf is launching an immersive experience about the City by the Bay’s “weird, twisted, dark” history — and that includes having live rats “scurry all over you” for some reason.

The tourist hot spot known for its interactive tours through history, featuring live actors and thrilling special effects, is opening its Rat Bar as the “next iteration of what the Department of Public Health” will allow, according to a press release.

The Dungeon had previously offered a tour with something called a “Rat Café.”

Photo from TheDungeons.com

“Let’s be honest — pastries and coffee were nice and all when we hosted the Rat Café but that was a lot of work. We thought, ‘F it. This time, get drunk, see our show, touch rats and get drunk some more,’” says Matthew Clarkson, regional head of marketing for West Coast Midway Attractions, North America, Merlin Entertainments Group.

After the history lesson, guests are shuffled off to the Rat Bar where they are able to touch and hold live rodents provided by the Ratical Rodent Rescue for 30 minutes.

The strange pop-up will begin June 13 and run through June 15, offering guests a 60-minute “journey into the dark place where live rats run free and the booze flows like water.”

Those who purchase tickets will be given “Ama-RAT-o Sours” made with Amaretto, a citrusy mix and a “rat’s tail” garnish, before being taken on a ride learning about the gold rush, Chinatown gangs, shanghaiing, Alcatraz and, appropriately, the plague.

Rat or San Francisco-enthusiasts will want to buy their tickets fast, however, as the company stated their last rat pop-up sold out in 45 minutes.

Liberals now pushing an eco-friendly, emission-free mode of transportation: pogo sticks!

Coming soon to San Francisco…hop, hop, hop your way around the feces!

From KOMO: Those who were fans of the childhood classic pogo sticks might get their chance to hop around again, as a company plans to bring “pogo-share” to cities across the globe this summer.

Swedish-based Cangoroo announced on its website that it would be launching in the summer of 2019 in San Francisco, Stockholm, Paris, London and Malmo, in an apparent play to pit pogo sticks against the increasingly-popular e-scooter mobility option.

They advertise the pogo sticks as fun, healthy, convenient and 100% emission free.

“We’re bringing shared pogo sticks to every street corner of the world,” the company said.

“Literally jump on a Cangoroo anytime and cruise your way through the city.”

Needles, feces & drugs, oh my! SF Board of Supervisors rewarded with 12% raise

The “professionals” on the SF Board of Supervisors

Imagine being so handsomely rewarded for turning your once beautiful city into a sh*thole. It pays well to be a public servant…

From SF Gate: San Francisco’s supervisors will be getting a 12% raise this year, more than three times the size of those being given to other elected officials and city employees.

The raise was approved by a 3-1 vote of the Civil Service Commission on Monday and represents a $15,016 pay hike, bringing the board members’ salaries to $140,148 this year — plus benefits.

“I felt the boost was appropriate to bring the pay more in line with the responsibilities of the job,” said Commission President F.X. Crowley, a former labor leader who ran for the board himself in 2012.

The supervisors’ pay hike, however, was far above the $5,005-a-year raise recommended by the Civil Service Commission staff.

The staff report, which surveyed cities and counties statewide, recommended they receive the same 4% raise this fiscal year as other city workers and elected officials — that would have given them about $125,000, plus benefits. Most city workers are getting 11% spread out over three years.

Instead, the commission voted to give the supervisors the 12% boost this year, with annual cost-of-living increases in succeeding years.

Under the City Charter, every five years the commission sets the salary for the supervisors and other elected officials.

Given that the annual cost-of-living increase has been running at about 3% a year, the supervisors could see a total pay raise of 24% or more over the next five years.

In a surprise move, Board of Supervisors clerk Angela Calvillo presented the commission with the salary survey she requested from a Board of Supervisors budget and legislative analyst.
The survey compared the supervisors’ pay to supervisors in other counties. The analyst also measured their pay in relation to the counties’ overall budget.

Calvillo said she did not share the report with the board.

Crowley said he looked at both surveys and concluded the commission staff’s recommendation was “artificially low” for a county with an annual $11 billion budget. “That’s a billion dollars a supervisor,” Crowley said. “We want professionals making professional decisions.”

What demorats can do for a city: San Francisco’s homeless crisis and opioid epidemic

Maybe it’s not so much what demorats can DO for a city..it’s what they CAN’T do to solve problems.

Because if taxpayer money solved the problem, it would have been solved decades ago.

Liberal utopia of San Francisco: People are pooping more than ever on the streets of San Francisco

The streets of San Francisco…

Demorats have turned San Francisco into a literal sh*thole.

From SF Gate: One of America’s wealthiest cities has a huge problem with public poop.

Between 2011 and 2018, San Francisco experienced a massive increase in reported incidents of human feces found on public streets.

In 2011, just over 5,500 reports were logged by the San Francisco Department of Public Works; in 2018, the number increased to more than 28,000.

The government watchdog Open the Books documented the sharp increase over time in a stunning chart, first spotted by the BuzzFeed editor John Paczkowski.

Notably, the chart of only documented reports — the actual amount of feces on San Francisco’s streets is likely even higher than these statistics suggest.

“I will say there is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here,” San Francisco Mayor London Breed told NBC in a 2018 interview. “That is a huge problem, and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.”

San Francisco has struggled with a feces problem for years. The city even employs a “Poop Patrol” that attempts to keep the streets clean and focuses on the Tenderloin neighborhood.

But the problem is bigger than just keeping the streets clean — the issue appears to be related to the city’s struggle to accommodate its homeless population amid skyrocketing rent prices and a decreasing supply of affordable housing.

A 2017 survey of San Francisco’s homeless population counted nearly 7,500 people living on the street. That population faces limited public resources, and public bathrooms are no exception.

Whether the Poop Patrol is able to reverse the trend on San Francisco’s streets remains to be seen, but there’s an indication that the crew is a bandage on a problem much bigger than dirty streets.

Warning if traveling to SFO: Homeless surge at airport & calls to police have tripled

Homeless in BART/SF Chronicle photo

Once you get past the homeless at the airport, make sure to watch out for the feces bombs throughout the city.

From SF Gate: Authorities at San Francisco International Airport are struggling to deal with rising numbers of homeless people arriving at the International Terminal, many of them seeking shelter in the middle of the night after riding BART trains south from the city.

It’s the latest expression of the region’s increasingly visible homelessness crisis and represents another challenge for BART, which is dealing with the pending retirement of its general manager and police chief, the complex rollout of a new fleet of trains, and this week declared a state of emergency over surging crime, rampant fare evasion and “quality of life” issues.

In the past two years, airport duty managers and San Francisco police officers who patrol SFO have seen official contacts with homeless people triple, according to airport figures obtained through a public records request. There were 1,139 such calls in February, or roughly 40 a day, compared with about a dozen contacts a day in March 2017.

The records do not specify how the person arrived at the airport, which sits east of San Bruno and Millbrae in San Mateo County, or describe the result of the encounter.

But airport officials noted that a large percentage of these unsheltered people arrive on the last BART train each night, which pulls into the International Terminal after 1:30 a.m. and empties out, with no return run to San Francisco. At that time, the terminal is mostly empty — departing flights have ceased — and airport officials said the arrivals raise security concerns.

On March 27, records show, San Francisco police officers had 33 contacts with homeless people at SFO, all at the International Terminal area by the BART station. Nineteen of those contacts occurred during the midnight shift.
From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day, the airport allows only employees, ticketed travelers and people dropping or picking up fliers to be in the terminals.

“Bottom line, this particular arrival at night is an area of focus as a disproportionate number of riders on trains are homeless,” SFO spokesman Doug Yakel said. “We’ve been working with BART to examine where trains terminate for the night, and we’ve also requested that BART sweep trains for homeless before they arrive at SFO.”

While Yakel said the majority of the contacts with homeless people stem from the final train each night, BART officials disagreed. They said perhaps four or five homeless people are typically encountered each night at the airport, which is consistent with other end-of-line stations like those in Richmond and Fremont.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that these people don’t have any permanent housing and they end up at SFO,” said Jim Allison, a BART spokesman.

A BART police officer does a sweep through the last two trains of the night, along with the train operator, when they reach SFO, Allison said. SFO employees and San Francisco police officers assigned to the airport also screen people coming off those trains, asking them where they are headed, and respond to homeless people who sometimes make their way into the terminal.

Armando Sandoval, the BART police crisis intervention team coordinator, said officers typically find people at the end of line, often asleep. “I think it’s typical of migrating homeless. It could be buses, trains or subway trains,” Sandoval said. “They spend time on the trains and forget where they are and end up at the end-of-the-line locations.”

BART does not allow people to remain on trains when they are out of service — and with the airport’s isolated location, there isn’t an easy exit, officials said. Currently, San Francisco police hand out tokens for a free bus ride on SamTrans, which has 24-hour service to SFO and connects to locations from Palo Alto to San Francisco.

During the day, many homeless people contacted at the airport are provided BART passes.

“The notion of pulling them off a BART train and putting them on a SamTrans bus is not solving the problem, it’s just shifting it,” Yakel said. As a result, he said, the airport and BART are working with San Mateo County homeless services agencies to try to get help for individuals.

The phenomenon has intensified as the transit agency deals with an estimated $25 million-a-year fare evasion problem. On Monday, BART began a monthlong enforcement blitz to attack it. Three days later, General Manager Grace Crunican shocked the board of directors when she announced she’d be leaving the agency in July after running BART for seven years.

S.F. postpones Nude Valentine Parade because of weather

You can’t make this stuff up.

It is 47°F in San Francisco. The forecast is rain showers and a high of 51°F.

Organizers of the Nude Valentine Parade 2019, scheduled at noon today in San Francisco, had to postpone it:

“The parade has been postponed because of bad weather during Valentine’s Week. It will be scheduled for a weekend when warmer, drier weather reaches San Francisco — probably in early March.”

Here’s the original announcement:

2019 Nude Valentine Parade

Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019 – 12 p.m.

Parade starts at Jane Warner Plaza, corner of Castro and Market streets, San Francisco, CA

From Fans of Urban Nudism:

“In San Francisco we celebrate Valentine’s Week – the week of love and friendship – with an annual Nude Valentine Parade.

“Why nude? Because it’s much more interesting and fun that way, and because nudity and love go well together. Furthermore, this is a way to reduce the harm that prudishness does to our society.

“The parade is free for anyone to join, to follow, or to watch. Anyone can participate – visitors and locals, all genders, all ages. Any degree of nudity is legal at this event, and many participants will only be wearing shoes.

“The 2019 Nude Valentine Parade will take place on Saturday February 16 — the Saturday following Valentine’s Day. The parade route starts in the Castro District – once famous as the center of gay love — and ends in the Haight-Ashbury District  — where the Summer of Love took place in the year 1967.

“The parade starts at Jane Warner Plaza (corner of Castro and Market Streets) at noon on Saturday February 16 (not the 14th, which is Valentine’s Day).

“We will walk from the plaza to Haight Street via a fairly level route.
The parade ends at Haight and Stanyan Streets.

“It will take about an hour to reach Stanyan Street. Those who wish to remain for awhile on Haight Street will then disperse along the sidewalks and stay for as long as they wish,  chatting with friendly visitors, and posing for pictures.”

Poor St. Valentine, a martyr. This is what the Left have made of his feast day.
