Rep. Devin Nunes is preparing criminal referrals re. FBI & FISA to Attorney General Barr

Is this another false hope?

A criminal referral or recommendation is a notice to a prosecutory body, recommending criminal investigation or prosecution of one or more entities for crimes which fall into that body’s jurisdiction.

In the U.S. federal government, agencies that investigate crimes — including the House Intelligence Committee — typically refer cases to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for prosecution at its discretion. The U.S. attorney general heads the DOJ.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), 45, is a farmer with a Master’s degree in agriculture from Cal Poly, who became a politician. His grandparents were immigrants from the Azores, a tiny group of islands more than 800 miles off the coast of Portugal. (See “The Devin Nunes You Don’t Know“)

Nunes is that rare politician who has not sought to exploit his public office for financial gain. Unlike corrupt politicians like Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee with a 2015 net worth of $3.5 million, Nunes’ net worth in 2016 and 2015 was estimated at only $158,001. (Heavy.com)

Congressman Nunes was the chair of the House Intelligence Committee for four years until January 3, 2019. He lost the chairmanship because Americans in the 2018 midterm elections voted a Democratic majority to the House of Representatives. Since then, Nunes still serves on the committee as the senior Republican.

On January 30, 2019, during an interview on Fox News, Nunes said he plans to make criminal referrals as part of an investigation into political bias in the FBI, and that even though he is no longer chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and Democrats have taken control of the House and the committee, that won’t stop GOP investigators from making headway:

“A lot of people think just because Republicans are out of power that we are not conducting an investigation. We still are. Whether or not people will come in and interview with us, we don’t have gavels, we don’t have subpoena power. But we will still be trying to interview people and we will still be making criminal referrals.”

One person who has already been criminally referred to the Justice Department was former UK spook Christopher Steele, the  author of the fake “Russian hooker” Trump dossier. Steele was criminally referred in January 2018 by then-chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), and now-committee chair Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) who succeeded Grassley.

Nunes said on January 30 that to this day Congress has not heard any updates from the DOJ on the Steele referral. Referring to Trump’s AG nominee William Barr, Nunes said it will take a new attorney general to come in and “clean” up before any real progress can be made. (Washington Examiner)

On February 14, 2019, Trump nominee William Barr succeeded Jeff Sessions as the 85th U.S. attorney general.

See Deplorable Patriot’s post, “Attorney General William Barr jumps into the fire“.

On March 1, 2019, at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), Nunes told OANN (0:30 mark):

“We’re still continuing to get to the bottom of what was happening to the Department of Justice and the FBI, trying to make sure that everyone there is held accountable…either through the courts or otherwise…. We’ll be making criminal referrals on a whole host of topics, most importantly probably lying and misleading Congress.”

Five days later, on March 6, 2019, Nunes once again said he’ll be making criminal referrals. He told Fox News’ Sean Hannity (0:03 mark):

We are preparing a criminal referral that we will present to the attorney general at the appropriate time…for many crimes. The obvious ones that you would know about would be lying to Congress. But we will also be looking at FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] abuse and all the other matters that we have been looking into. It will probably be one large referral….

We’re probably going to be prepared in the next two to three, four weeks — one of the things that’s coming up. So don’t mind all the shiny balls that you see running around Congress here — the so-called new investigations [by current House Intelligence Committee chair Adam Schiff (D-CA)]. Just ignore that.

What you should be out looking for is next week. On March 14, the federal judge down in Florida has ordered the release of depositions by Christopher Steele, who is supposedly the author of the dossier, and David Kramer, who pled the Fifth to this committee. who we know was handling and moving the dossier around to press outlets…. We [House Intelligence Commitee] had not ever interviewed Christopher Steele, and we don’t know what David Kramer would say because he pled the Fifth. So this could be critical. It may be nothing, but it could be critical for our referral. “

Note: David J. Kramer was nominated by President George W. Bush to be U.S. assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor, which he was from 2008 to January 20, 2009. Kramer is currently the senior director for human rights and human freedoms at the (John) McCain Institute, which is funded by the Saudis, Rothschilds, and George Soros. Kramer is a central player in how the fake Trump dossier made its way to the FBI in late 2016. He has invoked his Fifth Amendment right not to testify in connection with questions from the House Intelligence Committee about the anti-Trump dossier’s alleged Russian sources. (Fox News)

Sean Hannity said at the end of his interview with Rep. Nunes (2:16 mark):

“Finally, things are happening, which I’ve been telling you it will.”

Do you believe, too, that things are finally happening?

Rep. Devin Nunes: NYT reporters are paid to write fake news by Democrat Super PACs

On March 15, 2018, in a televised interview on Fox News, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) said something stunning.

Beginning at the 5:20 mark in the video below, Congressman Nunes upbraided the “friends of the Democrats in the mainstream media”. Referring specifically to the New York Times, Nunes said the newspaper’s reporters “are heavily funded by Democratic Super PACs,” which the Times “should have disclosed”.

On March 12, 2018, after a 14-month investigation and who knows how much in taxpayer dollars, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence announced that they had completed their Russia investigation and found no evidence of collusion, coordination or conspiracy between the Trump campaign and the Russians.

Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX), who led the bipartisan investigation, said on FoxNews’ Special Report:

“We didn’t find any evidence of collusion and I don’t think [special counsel Robert Mueller] will either.”

Committee Chairman Devin Nunes issued this press release:

“After more than a year, the Committee has finished its Russia investigation and will now work on completing our report. I’d like to thank Congressmen Trey Gowdy, Tom Rooney, and especially Mike Conaway for the excellent job they’ve done leading this investigation. I’d also like to recognize the hard work undertaken by our other Committee members as well as our staff. Once the Committee’s final report is issued, we hope our findings and recommendations will be useful for improving security and integrity for the 2018 midterm elections.”

For public documents related to the Committee’s Russia investigation, click here.

In more good news, the New York Post reports that last night, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced he had fired former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, just two days before McCabe is due to retire.

Sessions said in a statement that investigators “concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor — including under oath — on multiple occasions.”

As Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe signed a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) order, requesting the FISA Court to authorize electronic surveillance on Carter Page, a Trump campaign volunteer. The FISA orders were made under false pretenses because material and relevant information was omitted.

Devin Nunes, 44, is a farmer who became a politician, having grown up on his family farm in Tulares County in California’s Central Valley. His grandparents were immigrants from the Azores, a tiny group of islands more than 800 miles off the coast of Portugal.

Nunes has a Master’s degree in agriculture from Cal Poly. When he was 14 years old, he became an entrepreneur when he bought seven heads of young cattle. He once said, “I never pictured myself running for office. I always wanted to be a winemaker and make cheese, that sort of thing.” (See “The Devin Nunes You Don’t Know“)

(Heavy.com)

House Intelligence Committee votes to release 'explosive' FISA memo

Update: Full FISA Memo released!!!
The New York Post reports that today, Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee voted to release the controversial FISA memo that has been described as so “shocking” and “explosive,” not only will officials in the U.S. intelligence “community” be fired, people will even go to jail.
News of the FISA memo spawned a social media campaign with the hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo.
Reportedly, the FISA memo says the Obama Administration’s FBI and Justice Department, using the bogus claim of Russian collusion, misused the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to gain the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court’s approval to conduct surveillance on then-candidate Donald Trump and his team.
The 99-page document, United States Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court Memorandum Opinion and Order, that is said to be the background source of the FISA memo also details how the Obama Administration’s National Security Agency (NSA) conducted illegal surveillance and doxxing of American citizens.
The vote to release the memo comes after committee Republicans, led by chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) pushed for its disclosure.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), a member of the House Intelligence Committee who opposes the release of the memo because the American people can’t understand it, said he and other Democrats on the committee voted against releasing the memo.
President Trump has urged that the FISA memo be released.
Not coincidentally, FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, rumored to be named in the FISA memo, stepped down today, reportedly “under pressure from Director Christopher Wray”.
McCabe’s wife accepted cash, rumored to total $700,000, from a Super PAC connected to Terry McAuliffe, a longtime ally of the Clintons. McCabe will remain on the payroll using accrued time off until mid- March, when he maxes out his pension benefits. (New York Post)

Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff: Can't release 'explosive' FISA memo because people won't understand it

Update: Full FISA Memo released!!!
Four days ago, on January 18, members of the House of Representatives were given a four-page memo, described by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL)and journalist Sara Carter as so “shocking” and “explosive”, it could lead to the removal of senior officials in the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ), the end of Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation, and even people going to jail.
The memo is rumored to detail the Obama Administration’s abuse of power in improperly ordering a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) wire-tapping of then-candidate Donald Trump, as well as the administration’s extensive and illegal collusion with the FBI, the DOJ and the Clinton Campaign against Donald Trump during and after the 2016 presidential election.
House members have been blocked from discussing the memo in detail due to a waiver they signed, according to The Hill. A day later, on January 19, 65 lawmakers signed a letter calling on House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif) to publicly release the memo.

See “Tell Congress to release the ‘explosive’ FISA memo that’ll put officials in jail!

Congress must have been inundated with demands to #ReleaseTheMemo because on Saturday, January 20, Rep. Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) tweeted that the process to release the memo has begun, although it may take 19 or more Congressional work days.

However, yesterday, Jan. 21, in an interview on the Corrupt News Network (CNN), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said the memo should not be released because the American people simply can’t understand it.
Schiff, 57, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (House Intelligence Committee in short),  first dismisses the FISA memo as a set of “distorted” “talking points” that were “drafted” by Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee who are in collusion with “Russian trolls and bots”.
When asked by the CNN reporter why not let the American people see the memo and decide for ourselves, Schiff said no (1:18 mark):

“because the American people unfortunately don’t have the underlying materials and therefore they can’t see how distorted and misleading this document is.”

Then Schiff accuses Republicans who call for releasing the memo of engaging in “spin” and “a fulsome attack on the FBI” and on Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

House members have been blocked from discussing the memo in detail due to a waiver they signed, according to The Hill. They have described it as being supported by classified documents and interviews that most lawmakers have not been allowed to see.
CNN reported yesterday that Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky) wants to read the memo, but was turned down. But Paul’s spokesman, Sergio Gor, said Paul is “determined” to read it.
At least six House members have spoken out, calling for the release of the confidential memo because the American people deserve to know the truth. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) tweeted that not only will FBI and DOJ officials be fired, “people will go to jail“.

Washington Examiner reports that:

  • A request for further comment from Rep. Joyce’s office was not immediately returned.
  • A meeting had taken place to discuss the process for the memo’s release, but cautioned more details need to be ironed out before a final decision is made.

Below are some reactions to Rep. Joyce’s tweet:

“Sorry but 19 days is not soon enough. I appreciate your efforts to get it released but it shouldn’t take 19 days to tell the American people the truth.”
“I agree 19 days is too long. Let’s start a new hashtag
“Unless you’re being satirical, this tweet is outrageous. You’re DELIBERATELY giving Americans the bird. All it takes is a vote of the Intel Committee and then the POTUS green light. Could be done in a day. Get on with it, or burn in the mid-terms”
“Now that I think about it, ’19+ congressional work days’ could be months given that it is Congress, after all. Is this more swamp-stalling? This is the first I’ve heard about any 19+ day wait. Political double-speak for stalling.”
“You guys need to “get this Memo” from Americans>>> you work for US & 19 days is NOT acceptable! Get on the damn ball”
“19+ Congressional work days??? Look, I know government is slow, but it’s a four-page memo. I’m assuming the pages are 8.5″x11″.”
“As long as what we get are NOT pages and pages of redactions.”
“They want 19 Congressional WORKING DAYS to buy time. So that gives them well over month to make plans, flee the country or pull some monkey business on the Americans.”

My favorite:

“How about read the Memo in the State of the Union Address!”

Fusion GPS, hired by Hillary for dirt on Trump, also paid 3 journalists

Fusion GPS is a commercial DC-based intelligence firm that conducts opposition political research on political candidates, such as on Mitt Romney. The company was hired by Planned Parenthood (PP) to investigate pro-life activists who took a series of “sting” videos showing PP selling aborted baby parts to medical researchers.
In the 2016 presidential campaign during the GOP primary elections, Fusion GPS was first hired by Republicans, rumored to be RINO Sen. John McCain, to conduct “opposition research” on Donald Trump, which ended when Trump became the GOP’s presidential nominee.
The DNC (Democratic National Committee) and Hillary Clinton then hired Fusion GPS to continue digging up “dirt” on Trump. Fusion GPS, in turn, hired former British MI-6 agent Christopher Steele to compile a dossier on Trump, which became infamous for its entirely-fake allegation that Trump — a self-described “germophobe” — had engaged Russian prostitutes to urinate (“golden shower”) on a Russian hotel bed supposedly used by Obama.

But Fusion GPS didn’t employ just Chris Steele.
On November 21, 2017, Fusion GPS’s documents were unsealed as a result of a ruling by D.C. district court judge Richard Leon in a lawsuit over the firm’s bank records.
As reported by Luis Orozco for Conservative Daily Post, the unsealed documents reveal new details of payment transactions made to and by Fusion GPS, as well shed new light on requests made by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence concerning the firm.
Altogether, Fusion GPS’s bank documents list 112 payment transactions involving the firm, most of which are redacted, except for transactions between Fusion and two law firms on two Russia-related projects. The law firms are:
(1) Perkins Coie, which represented the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign, paid Fusion GPS a total of more than $1.4 million in 2016 for “opposition research” on Donald Trump:

  • $1,024,408 between May 24, 2016 and Dec. 28, 2016.
  • $365,275 on the eve of the election on Oct. 28, 2016.
  • A payment after the election in late December 2016.

(2) BakerHostetler, which paid Fusion GPS $523,651 between March 7, 2016 and Oct. 31, 2016, to investigate a London-based banker, Bill Browder, who helped push through the Magnitsky Act — a sanctions law vehemently opposed by the Russian government. The $523,651 came from a Russian businessman convicted of tax fraud and money laundering.
Fusion GPS founding partner and former Wall Street Journal reporter Glenn Simpson compiled the research for Fusion’s anti-Browder project, working closely with a Russian lawyer named Natalia Veselnitskaya, who gave Simpson’s research to Russia’s prosecutor general Yuri Chaika. Veselnitskaya also shared Simpson’s research, in the form of a 4-page memo to Donald Trump Jr., with whom she met in the Trump Tower in June 2016 — a meeting that was arranged by Fusion GPS associate Rob Goldstone.
As Conservative Daily Post‘s Luis Orozco points out, opposition research firm Fusion GPS “is the common denominator linked to two different schemes used to damage the Trump campaign” — “one of the main weapons . . . to prevent the Republican victory.”
There are two more interesting things that are revealed in the un-redacted  Fusion GPS financial transactions:

  1. Strangely, the transaction list doesn’t show payments that Fusion made to Chris Steele, although it is known that he was paid a total of  $168,000 for his work, which lasted from June 2016 until the presidential election.
  2. Fusion GPS´s unsealed documents also reveal a request by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for records of:
    • Five payments made by Fusion for “research” and to a mysterious “Russia expert.”
    • Nine payments made by Fusion to three journalists who had reported on Russia issues.

A memo filed by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on November 21, 2017, shows that the committee’s lawyers are seeking the records of nine Fusion GPS payments to three journalists, all of whom have reported and been quoted in articles related to Russia. But the identities of the three journalists are redacted.
Please contact Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), the chair of House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and demand that the American people have the right to know the names of the three journalists who were paid by Fusion GPS — hired by the Democrats to dig up “dirt” on Trump — to do who knows what. Below is Nunes’ contact info.:

Phone: (202) 225-2523

By the way, a recent Daily Caller investigation found a hitherto unknown association between Fusion GPS and Tom Steyer, a billionaire financier and Democrat Party operative who is funding the $20 million campaign to impeach President Trump.

In 2012, Steyer hired Fusion GPS and its founding partner, Glenn Simpson, to conduct an investigation to help pass ballot initiative Proposition 39, aimed at closing a tax loophole for California businesses and funneling money to so-called clean energy projects.
Prop 39 was a success, which made Steyer a rising star in the world of Democratic politics. He was the party’s most generous donor in the 2016 election cycle — giving more than $90 million to various political action committees.
Steyer is said to be considering running for political office. In August 2015, he launched the Fair Shake Commission on Income Inequality and Middle Class Opportunity, purportedly an implicit announcement of candidacy for the 2018 California gubernatorial race. (Lots more on Steyer, the “green” or environmental hypocrite here.)

Threat to Alternative Media: House passes HR 6393 'Russian propaganda' bill

Three days ago, on November 30, 2016, the House of Representatives passed a bill that can be used against the Alternative Media. that are The corrupt MSM — proxies of Hillary Clinton, the Obama administration, and the ironically-named Democratic Party — have maliciously labeled the Alt Media “fake news.” See:

The bill is H.R 6393: Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, sponsored by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) and co-sponsored by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). See full text of HR 6393 here.
devin-nunes-adam-schiff
HR 6393’s purpose is to authorize FY2017 appropriations for the conduct of intelligence and intelligence-related activities of various federal government agencies, including the CIA; FBI; the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, State and Army, Navy and Air Force; and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Where the Alternative Media come in is where HR 6393, in its “Title V: Matters Relating to Foreign Countries,” addresses alleged efforts on the part of the Russian government to secretly influence U.S. politics.
HR 6393 Section 501 (a) (1) says:

ACTIVE MEASURES BY RUSSIA TO EXERT COVERT INFLUENCE.—The term “active measures by Russia to exert covert influence” means activities intended to influence a person or government that are carried out in coordination with, or at the behest of, political leaders or the security services of the Russian Federation and the role of the Russian Federation has been hidden or not acknowledged publicly, including the following:

(A) Establishment or funding of a front group.

(B) Covert broadcasting.

(C) Media manipulation.

(D) Disinformation and forgeries.

(E) Funding agents of influence.

(F) Incitement and offensive counterintelligence.

(G) Assassinations.

(H) Terrorist acts.

To counteract the alleged covert Russian efforts, HR 6393 “places travel restrictions on personnel and consulars of the Russian Federation in the United States,” as well as “establishes an executive branch interagency committee to counter active measures by the Russian Federation to exert covert influence over peoples and governments.

HR 6393 Section 501 (e) says the duties of this special interagency committee shall be as follows:

(1) To counter active measures by Russia to exert covert influence, including by exposing falsehoods, agents of influence, corruption, human rights abuses, terrorism, and assassinations carried out by the security services or political elites of the Russian Federation or their proxies.

(2) Such other duties as the President may designate for purposes of this section. [Note from Eowyn: The vagueness and open-endedness of this clause should concern every American who cherishes our civil liberties.]

As Kurt Nimmo of Activist Post — one of the List of 200 websites, including FOTM, identified by a shadowy and anonymous group called Is It Propaganda Or Not? as “fake media” sites that “reliably echo Russian propaganda,” whether consciously or unconsciously — points out:

“It’s easy to see how this law, if passed by the Senate and signed by the president, could be used against [alleged] ‘fake news’ websites.
At this point it is unknown if the bill will work its way through the Senate and become law and if it will be used to shut down or curtail websites anonymously characterized as useful idiots or willing participants in disseminating supposed Russian propaganda.”

Contact your senators (click here) and ask them to vote against HR 6393 in its present version that contains the dangerous Section 501!
