Immoral: Illegal alien, 19, arrested in connection with four Nevada murders

Illegal alien wanted in connection with four murders/Washoe County Sheriff’s Office photo

Four American citizens permanently separated from their families and friends.

From Fox News: Investigators in northern Nevada said a suspect in the murders of four people, three of them women, is in custody on an immigration hold and other charges.

Wilbur Ernesti Martinez-Guzman, 19, was arrested Saturday afternoon by deputies from the Carson County Sheriff’s Office, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam told a news conference Sunday.

“We feel confident we have the evidence to link him to all four homicides,” Balaam said.

Investigators said the killings started on or around Jan. 10 in Gardnerville, a town south of Carson City. Connie Koontz, 56, was found shot and killed in her home. On Jan. 13, 74-year-old Sophia Renken was found dead in her home approximately a mile away from Koontz.

The FBI joined the investigation after the bodies of married couple Gerald David, 81, and Sharon David, 80, were found in their home on the southern edge of Reno Wednesday. Balaam told The Associated Press on Friday that all four killings were similar in the use of a firearm and the removal of objects from the victims’ homes.

The sheriff urged residents to turn on outside lights, secure their homes and refuse to open the door for anyone they didn’t know.

On Sunday, Douglas County Sheriff Dan Coverley told the Reno and Carson City communities: “We feel strongly that we have the man responsible for this and that you can continue to go about your daily activities and live normally.”

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong told reporters a tip led investigators to surveil Martinez-Guzman, who had lived in the Carson City area for approximately one year. Furlong added that immigration officials had said that Martinez-Guzman “was likely in the United States illegally and was detainable.”

Martinez-Guzman was being held in the Carson City Jail on Sunday and was charged with burglary, possession of stolen property and obtaining money under false pretenses. Furlong added that an immigration hold had been placed on the suspect, who was not known to his office.

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks said authorities would seek arrest warrants against Martinez-Guzman for the murders “in the coming days.”

Gun control, Chiraq style: Man who fired gun & linked to deaths of two Chicago Police officers could be released soon

Perp Edward Brown: Just wanted to see if the pistol worked….or something

The perp said he “found” a pistol and “wanted to see if it worked.”

The perp is “hanging in there” after the two officers lost their lives.

Despicable.

From MyFoxChicago: The man being held in connection with the deaths of the two Chicago police officers who were killed by a train could soon be released from jail, as a community group says it’s helping to get Edward Brown released on bond.

It was four weeks ago Monday night that Brown was arrested for alleging firing the gunshots which led officers Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo onto the railroad tracks where they were hit by a train.

Brown is still in jail, needing $20,000 for release on bond. “He’s hanging in there,” said defense attorney Frank Koustoros. “You know, nobody wants to be in jail, but he’s hanging in there.”

It looks like Brown could be released very soon.

“We are planning to post bond this week, yes,” said Sharlyn Grace of Chicago Community Bond Fund. “We’re just waiting on a couple more things to come through.”

The Chicago Community Bond Fund uses donated dollars to help defendants post bond and remain free while fighting their cases. “When a case like this that’s high profile comes up, we know it’s even more important than usual that somebody really enjoys the presumption of innocence,” said Grace.

Brown was back in court Monday where prosecutors revealed he’s been indicted on the two weapons charges for which he was arrested.

Members of Brown’s family, including his mother, were in the courtroom, but through his attorney, they declined to talk about the case.

“He’s not alone in this world,” said Koustoros. “He has a lot of love and support from his family and friends.”
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) wanted a felony murder charge.

“We are continually disappointed with the Kim Foxx administration when the police are the victims of crime,” said an FOP spokesperson.

The spokesperson added the FOP will be shocked and disappointed if Brown gets out on bond.

Man accused of Portland execution-style shootings was convicted felon under Washington state supervision, living in public housing

Career criminal James Javontae Barquet

Not enough gun control laws can stop a determined, career criminal. Nor can the justice system, apparently.

This past Monday, an 11-time convicted felon shot and killed two people – execution style – in two separate incidents in Portland, Oregon.

According to Oregon Live, the perp is James Javontae Barquet (age 26) who is now charged with aggravated murder charges, first-degree robbery and felon in possession of a firearm.

Barquet killed 70-year-old Carol Horner and 51-year-old Brian Hansen with single shots using a .45-caliber pistol. Barquet shot both victims in the head.

Read about the details of the killings here.

Oregon Live provides more information about this career criminal:

  • Barquet lived at Longfellow Creek apartments in Seattle, a public housing complex.
  • Barquet has 11 felony convictions in Washington dating back to 2011.
  • His prior convictions include drug possession, theft, robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and riot with a deadly weapon.
  • The perp was released from state prison on July 11 after serving seven months for felony possession of a controlled substance.
  • Barquet entered a state supervision program two days later, where he met weekly with a community corrections officers.
  • The Washington State Department of Corrections officer was unaware that Barquet had traveled to Oregon.

Unlawful possession of a firearm is a Class A misdemeanor in Oregon, punishable by up to one year in prison. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a Class C felony in Oregon, punishable by up to five years in prison.

I wonder if Barquet every served full sentences for his previous offenses?

More proof that gun control laws cannot control the free will of a man intent on committing crimes.

Chicago gang member missed the gun control memo, found with AK-47

No doubt the gang member purchased the weapon in Indiana

From MyFoxChicago: A gang member from Chicago is facing charges after being found with an assault rifle Wednesday in northwest suburban Rosemont.

Julio C. Perez, 30, was charged with felony counts of possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and misdemeanor counts of possession of a weapon and ammunition without a FOID card, according to Rosemont police.

On Wednesday, detectives surveilling Perez saw him place a “long narrow object wrapped in a towel” into the trunk of a vehicle, police said. Based on information from sources, investigators believed it was a rifle.

Detectives then followed the vehicle into Rosemont before pulling Perez over in the 10400 block of Carol Court, where he was taken into custody, police said. After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found an AK-47 rifle and 71 rounds of ammunition in the vehicle’s trunk.

Perez, who is a documented and self-identified gang member, is being held at Cook County Jail on $750,000 bail, police said. His next court date was set for Dec. 6.

This is such baloney: “Crazy sh*t democrats want”

Demorats says the darndest things…

A liberal who lives in Georgia and goes by the name of “TDP” claims that demorats just want to “follow the law.”

His Twitter bio states the following: Middle-class white guy, small business owner, marathon runner, pseudo-intellectual political analyst, and garage sale aficionado. Blocked by @SebGorka.”

On Nov. 9 he tweeted the following:

“Crazy sh*t Democrats want to do:

  • make healthcare affordable
  • reduce gun deaths
  • defend the Constitution
  • follow the law
  • count all the votes”

Let’s do a check on each of the “crazy sh*t” points he claims demorats want, shall we?

Make healthcare affordable:

Obama’s biggest lie of the year (in 2013): “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.”

In 2014, Forbes published an article that concluded “Obamacare Has Increased Non-Group Premiums In Nearly All States.”

From their article:

“However, a new study from the well-respected and non-partisan National Bureau of Economic Research (and published by Brookings Institution), overcomes the limitations of these prior studies by examining what happened to premiums in the entire non-group market. The bottom line? In 2014, premiums in the non-group market grew by 24.4% compared to what they would have been without Obamacare.  Of equal importance, this careful state-by-state assessment showed that premiums rose in all but 6 states (including Washington DC).”

After the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, I saw my health insurance premiums rise each year while my coverage DECREASED to catastrophic-level coverage. My health insurance plan started out at $380/year and rose to $620/year (while my deductible rose to over $8,000/year and double that for out-of-network coverage).

In 2019, some consumers will experience a decrease yet premiums and deductible are still high. From Consumer Reports:

“If you’re shopping for health insurance through Affordable Care Act exchanges, the time to enroll for next year has arrived. After a few years of big price increases, some consumers will see relief.

Still, what you end up paying will vary significantly depending on where you live. Rates will be lower in 19 states, and eight of those will see drops of 10 percent or more. But six states have double-digit premium increases. The variation reflects how differently states are trying to rein in the cost of health insurance.

Premiums and deductibles are still high, of course, which means you’ll need to shop carefully and compare plans to find the best fit.”

Many, many people experienced the same consequences of having to “pass the bill to find out what is in it.”

Reduce gun deaths:

Progressives want to reduce gun deaths via the hash tag of #guncontrolnow. “

Yet many cities and states have some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation and for some reason, their gun death statistics are the highest. See the following demorat-government run examples:

The problem isn’t the lack of gun control laws but rather the ENFORCEMENT of said laws. See the following examples:

Defend the Constitution:

This, of course, doesn’t include defending the Second Amendment.

And the Constitution should be defended, as long as it meets liberals’ standards. For many years, progressives have stated that our Constitution is “outdated” and needs to be updated. See the following examples:

Follow the law:

This is rich. Many progressive-run cities and states blatantly ignore the law and have proclaimed themselves to be a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens. Why cooperate with the federal government when you can choose to ignore federal immigration laws? See the following examples:

Count all votes:

This is one point I do agree that demorats do want: To count all votes, including those of illegal aliens and dead people. And if the process has to ignore a federal court order, so be it. Demorats will find a way to win. See the following examples:

Anyone can tweet an opinion about their party. The tougher part is defending your statement with facts to backup your bullet points.

And that little fact irritates liberals. Just best to tweet your ignorance and hope you get lots of retweets!

Liberal utopia of California: Prohibited possessor & career criminal who killed Sacramento County deputy flaunted his guns on social media

Career criminal Paris: Proof that CA gun laws don’t work if not enforced

Unenforced gun laws combined with bureaucratic mistakes cost a deputy his life. Tragic.

From Sacramento Bee: Anton Lemon Paris, the man accused of killing one Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy and wounding another, has been charged on multiple occasions with serious crimes including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of an illegal assault rifle.

With regular frequency, he has been arrested for lower-level offenses including domestic violence and carrying a loaded firearm, according to court records, and reported to police for alleged bank fraud, car theft and making death threats.

He has been banned by the courts from owning guns at least twice, but for years has openly flaunted them on social media and on city streets.

As recently as July, he was reported to police for firing a gun in public.

Paris, 38, is now charged with murder and attempted murder for the Sept. 17 Rancho Cordova shooting that left Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Stasyuk dead and his partner Julie Robertson wounded. Paris allegedly pulled a gun on the deputies seconds after they entered the Pep Boys store in Rancho Cordova, shooting a clerk before following Stasyuk outside and firing lethal shots into his back and head.

It’s a grim finale to at least 20 years of violence and trouble that thrust Paris into the path of law enforcement and the courts more than a dozen times, but which resulted more in luck and leniency than consequences. His life was punctuated with a series of minor infractions that made him appear more of a menace than a threat. But a critical mistake on his rap sheet, plea deals, favorable jury decisions and apparent inaction by law enforcement allowed Paris to continue unchecked a chaotic and malevolent life that seemingly slid deeper into criminality the more he escaped punishment, official records show.

“He’s gotten away with everything he has done,” said the daughter of a former girlfriend of Paris’ who says he threatened to kill her. She asked not to be identified because she fears retaliation. “He was the guy who was willing to shoot anybody because he felt entitled to, because he felt above the law. He felt better than everybody, like he could do whatever and get away with it because he has.”

Paris’ most serious conviction came in 2010 from possessing a pair of homemade nunchucks – a felony that was erroneously recorded on his state criminal record as a lesser charge.

The incident that led to the conviction started with a nuisance call on April 4, 2008. A neighbor living near Paris’ father, Anthony Paris, in West Sacramento called police to report a person playing a car stereo in the morning, loudly enough to trigger her migraines. An officer arrived and found the younger Paris in his Lincoln Town Car, parked in his father’s driveway.

Paris turned down the stereo, locked the car and turned on the alarm as the officer approached. The officer said in court testimony he thought it was strange behavior and became suspicious. He asked to see identification and Paris turned over his wallet. Inside, the officer found a list of guns with serial numbers, according to court records. Two guns on the list were reported stolen, but were never located in Paris’ possession, according to court documents.

The officer searched the car and found a loaded Glock .45 caliber handgun under the passenger seat, ammunition, marijuana, scales and an illegally modified Ruger Mini-14 semiautomatic rifle in the trunk. He also found what Paris claimed was a broken security baton but which a court expert described as homemade nunchucks – two wooden dowels with holes drilled to allow rope to connect them.

Nunchucks are prohibited in California and possessing them can be a felony offense.

Paris was registered as a security guard and held a valid exposed firearm permit from the state Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, allowing him to have the handgun in his car for work purposes, agency records show. The rifle was not required by the state to be registered, but was modified with a flash suppressor, according to court testimony. That made it illegal, but Paris claimed he didn’t know about the suppressor.

Paris also possessed a medical marijuana license, making the cannabis legal – though the 101 gram quantity led to charges of selling it. Paris said he used the cannabis to treat pain for a gunshot wound he had sustained in his leg a year prior related to his work as a security guard, when he claimed someone from an apartment complex he guarded had recognized him off duty and attempted to rob his car. He told the court he was receiving state disability from that injury, along with a payment of $8,597.16 from a state victims’ compensation fund, more than $4,000 of which the arresting officer found in the pocket of his 49ers jacket.

A Yolo County jury believed him and hung on most counts, but convicted him of one felony for having the makeshift martial arts weapon. He was also found guilty of enhancements to the felony that included being armed with a firearm and an assault weapon.

Paris was given 273 days in county jail in February 2011. During the sentencing hearing, Paris snuck out of the courthouse and disappeared. Whether Paris was apprehended or turned himself in is unclear, but records show he began serving his sentence in June 2011.

The conviction was listed on his state criminal record, commonly called a rap sheet, as a misdemeanor. The California Department of Justice, which maintains rap sheets, declined to speak about the mistake, citing state privacy laws.

Hundreds of guns found en route to Chicago after being stolen from UPS facility in Tennessee

Apparently not all of Chiraq’s illegal guns come from Indiana.

From MyFoxChicago: Most of the roughly 400 guns that were stolen from a United Parcel Service facility in Tennessee have been recovered in the Chicago area, federal authorities said Tuesday.

Authorities seized about 365 Ruger .22-caliber and .380-caliber firearms after police officers responded to a call about suspicious activity in the southern Chicago suburb of Midlothian on Sunday afternoon – about 12 hours after the guns were taken from a UPS facility in Memphis, a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent said in court documents.

ATF had said the guns being shipped from a Ruger factory in North Carolina were taken by two men in a U-Haul truck. ATF spokesman Michael Knight said the truck was recovered along with the guns.

Court documents said officers found the truck at a store parking lot in Midlothian and questioned 24-year-old Roland Jackson of Chicago and 18-year-old Taveyan Turnbo before they both ran away.

Turnbo was arrested hours later and faces federal charges of possessing stolen firearms. He was scheduled for an initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Chicago. Court documents said he denied taking part in the theft at the UPS facility.

Jackson faces federal charges of being a convicted felon illegally possessing firearms. The ATF said he remained at large Tuesday.

The estimate of 400 stolen firearms makes it one of the largest single gun thefts the ATF has investigated, Knight said.

Turnbo told investigators he and Jackson had sold at least three of the guns for a total of $400, according to court documents.

UPS said it is cooperating with law enforcement.

ATF had asked the public to send social media posts, photos or any other information related to the theft. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

If you have any information on Jackson’s whereabouts, call 1-800-ATF-GUNS.

A happy ending in Chiraq: Prohibited possessor/armed robber shot by church security guard

good guy with a gun
A “good guy with a gun” story the agenda-driven media don’t like to report.
From WGNTV (Chicago): An investigation is underway after an attempted armed robbery suspect was shot by a church security guard.
It happened just after 8 p.m. Wednesday near a church on the 4400 block of West Maypole in West Garfield Park.
Police said a 27-year-old gunman burst into the Maypole Avenue Church of Christ and announced a robbery. He was immediately confronted by a 57-year-old security guard, who is a concealed carry cardholder.
The two exchanged gunfire, ending with the offender critically injured with multiple gunshots to the chest. He remains in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.
The security guard suffered a single bullet wound to the left arm and is expected to recover.
It is unknown if anything is missing from the church. Area North is investigating.
According to CBS Chicago, the 25-year-old perp has been charged with multiple felonies including aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, attempted armed robbery, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Gov. Jerry Brown pardons five "nonviolent" illegal aliens facing deportation

jerry brown
According to Brown’s office: Kidnapping, robbery, using a firearm, inflicting corporal injury, intent to terrorize and obstructing a police officer are now classified as “nonviolent crimes.”
That’s California for you…
From Sacramento Bee: Amid a brewing legal battle with the Trump administration over California’s liberal immigration policies, Gov. Jerry Brown on Friday granted pre-Easter pardons to five immigrants illegal aliens facing possible deportation.
They were among 56 pardons and 14 commutations that the Democratic governor handed down ahead of the Sunday holiday. The majority were convicted of drug-related or other nonviolent crimes, according to Brown’s office.
Executive clemency is particularly significant for immigrants, since they can be deported for old convictions, even if they have legal resident status. By forgiving their criminal records, Brown eliminates the grounds on which they could be targeted for removal from the country.
“These are individuals who have turned their lives around and deserve a second chance,” said UCLA School of Law Professor Ingrid Eagly, who represents two of the immigrants pardoned Friday. She added that the stakes are higher since the election of President Donald Trump, who has emphasized stricter immigration enforcement.
“Under the current administration, there’s much more of a focus on deportation. More individuals are being picked up and placed into deportation proceedings,” Early said. “There’s also less discretion being exercised by immigration agents on the ground and by immigration prosecutors.”
The pardoned immigrants are:

  • Sokha Chhan, who is in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement pending deportation to Cambodia. He came to the United States at the age of 13 to escape the Khmer Rouge regime and has lived here for 35 years. Chhan was sentenced in 2002 for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and threatening a crime with the intent to terrorize, both misdemeanors; he served three years probation and 364 days in jail. In his clemency application, one his five children, whom Chhan raised as a single father, wrote that he had shown her “what it meant to be a loving and independent individual.”
  • Daniel Maher, who has publicly advocated for immigrants with a criminal record to have an opportunity for redemption. Maher moved to California from Macau legally when he was 3 years old, according to KQED, but he never applied for citizenship and he lost his green card when he was sentenced in 1995 for kidnapping, robbery and using a firearm (as a prohibited possessor). He served five years in prison, before being released early for good behavior, and three years on parole. Maher now oversees the curbside recycling program in Berkeley and has been recognized by the city for training at-risk youth for green jobs. He was detained, but not deported, by ICE in 2015.
  • Phann Pheach, who was born in a refugee camp in Thailand and came to the United States at the age of 1, according to a GoFundMe account set up by his wife. Pheach was convicted in 2005 for possession of a controlled substance for sale and obstructing a police officer; he served six months in prison and 13 months on parole. Pheach has been detained by ICE and is facing deportation proceedings to Cambodia, “a place he never once knew,” his wife wrote on the fundraising page for his legal defense. “He is the glue that holds his family together,” she added. “I am crumbling apart without my husband, who I have been with for over 10 years.”
  • Francisco Acevedo Alaniz, who was convicted for vehicle theft in 1997 and served five months in prison and 13 months probation. In his clemency application, he reported being active in his church and volunteering with a youth sports program.
  • Sergio Mena, who was sentenced in 2003 for possession of a controlled substance for sale and served three years probation.

Immigration has been at the center of a political showdown between California and the Trump administration. Earlier this month, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions filed suit against California for three new laws passed last year to protect immigrants living in California illegally.
Brown slammed Sessions for “initiating a reign of terror” against immigrants illegal aliens in California and accused the federal government of “basically going to war” against the state. Days later, Trump visited California for the first time as president and dismissed the state as “totally out of control.”
During the past year, as federal immigration authorities have escalated their enforcement efforts, Brown has regularly included immigrants in his annual Easter and Christmas acts of clemency.

Happy Ending: Convicted felon shot dead by homeowner during Nashville home invasion

felon terry adams wztv photo

Dead perp Terry Adams/WZTV photo

Taxpayer relief shot provided for this criminal.
And a good example of why one chooses to have firearms in strategic locations throughout their home.
From Fox17: NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Metro Police have identified the alleged robber shot by a homeowner during a home invasion in Hermitage on Wednesday night. Terry Adams, Jr., 27, of Ashland City, Tenn., died overnight. Adams is a convicted felon out of Cheatham County and Nashville.
Police say the 43-year-old homeowner was away from his Richard Lee Circle residence when two “strange men” entered through a back door and struck his wife. The homeowner arrived to find the back door open and walked into the kitchen where he was struck on the head with a “blunt object,” causing a skull fracture.
The man was ordered to open his gun safe and the robbers took three long guns and a pistol. During this time, the wife fled to a neighbors house and the two suspects left with the guns.
Police said the homeowner, unsure of where his wife went, got a pistol out of another room and headed outside where he again met the robbers. During an altercation, police said the homeowner fired at the suspects, fatally striking Adams.
The second robber dropped the guns and fled. He remains on the run. The homeowner is currently being treated in the hospital.
Police said the same Hermitage home was burglarized on Feb, 6 and a flat screen TV was taken. Adams is a suspect in that case.
Adams has been convicted of attempted burglary in Nashville and has several convictions ranging from car theft, to felony theft to aggravated assault in Cheatham County. He also plead guilty last November to two misdemeanors stemming from a felony meth possession for resale and gun charges.
At the time of Wednesday’s home invasion, Adams was wanted on two probation violations.
