Portland Thorns soccer fans boo during halftime military swearing-in ceremony

Typical progressives…it’s all about THEIR feelings. Can’t respect the fact that these kids volunteered for this service and that this was the enlistees’ ceremony. Classless.

Details from Fox News: Fans at a National Women’s Soccer League game rained down boos during a U.S. Armed Forces swearing-in ceremony Wednesday after the enlistees were asked to pledge they would obey the orders of President Trump.

The ceremony took place at Providence Park in Portland, Ore., while the Portland Thorns were facing the North Carolina Courage. The event was scheduled ahead of the 2019 season when the club discovered it would be playing on Sept. 11, according to The Oregonian.

The crowd applauded the group after it took the Oath of Enlistment but booed when the enlistees were asked to “obey the orders of the President of the United States.”

The boos come as Major League Soccer came under fire for banning political banners in its club’s stadiums. The National Women’s Soccer League does not have a fan code of conduct but agreed with its partner club, the Portland Timbers, to ban political signage at Thorns games.

The failure of liberal logic summed up in two Oregon headlines

Headline One: E-cigarette deaths climb as officials confirm some illnesses caused by oil in lungs from vaping marijuana

Headline Two: Oregon is one step closer to being the first state to legalize psychedelic mushrooms

Details from Headline One: At least four people have died after using e-cigarettes and about 450 possible cases of severe lung diseases are now under investigation — more than doubling the breadth of the mysterious illness that has gripped the country, federal health officials announced Friday. The cases have spread to 33 states, most related to people vaping marijuana products, officials said.

Details from Headline Two: Oregon voters may get the chance to decide whether or not to become the first state to legalize psychedelic mushrooms next year. The ballot title for the Psilocybin Service Initiative, or Initiative Petition #34, was certified Friday and now supporters of a measure to legalize psilocybin in controlled settings can gather signatures to get the issue on the ballot in 2020. The initiative won’t mean that “magic” mushrooms are legal at all times and everywhere in the state. Instead, the measure would allow “manufacture, delivery, administration of psilocybin at supervised, licensed facilities.”

The recreational use of marijuana was passed in Oregon in 2014 under Ballot Measure 91. Its passage legalized the “recreational use of marijuana, based on regulation and taxation to be determined by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission”.

Yet who could have predicted the bad consequences from legalizing marijuana? That is rhetorical, of course.

So what do progressives want to legalize next? Psychedelic mushrooms!

Oregon man and woman arrested for attacking MAGA hat-wearing President Trump supporter

Victim Lenzner

Remember folks, #LoveTrumpsHate!

From Daily Mail: A man and woman have been arrested accused of attacking a MAGA hat-wearing Trump supporter who was on a date night with his wife.

Luke Lenzner says he was ‘sucker punched’ outside an Oregon bar in the early hours of Saturday morning while wearing his ‘Make America Great Again’ cap.

Pictures show Lenzner in the red hat with Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign slogan emblazoned across it with cuts and bruises to his face.

Police say 23-year-old Adebisi A. Okuneye and Leopold A. Hauser, 22, were arrested and charged with third-degree assault following the incident in Portland.

Lenzner told FOX 12 he was ‘mobbed’ outside the bar by people who ‘just circled me and my wife’.

Security footage shows the couple as they leave the bar. Lenzner appears to point at his hat and say something to other patrons before the altercation.

‘Surrounding me, like literally surrounding me, pushing me. I’m just trying to get through, trying to stop the person from hitting me, from taking my hat, and then I get sucker punched.’

Lenzner says he has been left with bruising and cut to his arms and face.

Hauser and Okuneye are said to have fled before police arrived but Lenzner was able to give officers a license plate. They were arrested a few blocks away and are expected to be arraigned Monday.

Witnesses are said to have accused Lenzner of provoking the attack by pointing to his hat but police say Lenzner was not involved physically in the incident.

Portland, OR taxpayers provided $500,000 for illegal aliens facing deportation/seeking asylum

A new study from Portland State University study (August 2019) found that more than 38,000 people experienced homelessness in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties in 2017. The study also found that some 107,000 people were housing insecure or at risk of homelessness.

Portland Business Journal reports that the study also estimated that it would cost between $2.6 billion and $4.1 billion to provide housing, support, services and operations to the homeless in the region over the next 10 years. Providing rent assistance would also cost between $8.6 billion and $21 billion over the next decade.

Yet the taxpayers cough up half a million dollars to assist illegal aliens. And that number is going to go up to $2M.

Another demorat-run city putting the needs of illegal aliens above those of their own U.S. citizens.

Portland’s free legal assistance program, called Universal Representation, provided at least 341 people with lawyers to represent them in deportation hearings.

According to Oregon Live, the program, called Universal Representation, also helped at least 105 would-be refugees apply for asylum. And of the people served, 23 were unaccompanied immigrant children. More from their story:

“Portland’s City Council approved the service last year and put $500,000 toward its budget from property tax collections. It is run through the Equity Corps of Oregon, with lawyers provided by nonprofits Catholic Charities of Oregon, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon, Immigration Counseling Service, Innovation Law Lab and Metropolitan Public Defender.

The program was championed by Commissioner Chloe Eudaly, who said at the time of its passage that hundreds of unauthorized immigrants living in Portland faced deportation and could not afford lawyers.

She said providing attorneys free of charge was a matter of “protecting everyone’s constitutional right to due process.” Eudaly didn’t respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

This year, Multnomah County allocated $290,000 to the initiative and the state approved an additional $2 million to expand the service statewide — the first state to do so in the nation.

According to internal city progress reports, the people who received legal services through Portland’s program hailed from many countries: Colombia, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras, Iran, Iraq, Mexico, Nicaragua, Russia, Ukraine and Venezuela.”

Oregon governor signs “progressive” paid family leave act; includes benefits for illegal aliens

Oregon Governor Kate Brown

More benefits for illegal aliens that Oregon tax-paying citizens will have to cough up. That’s what you get when you live in a sanctuary state.

Excerpts from Oregon Live:

“Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Friday signed what advocates are calling the nation’s most progressive paid family and medical leave measure, making the state the first in the country to offer 100% wage replacement for minimum-wage workers.

The law, which will pay out benefits beginning in 2023, gives 12 weeks paid time off to new parents, victims of domestic violence and those who become ill or need to care for a sick family member. It also includes people who may be in the country illegally and those working part time. Residents need to work 1,000 hours a year to qualify.

The law allows workers to take time off not only to care for blood relatives, but also for significant others, friends and other close associates that are the “equivalent of a family relationship.”

“This bill is written for 2019,” said then-House Majority Leader Jennifer Williamson on the floor in June. “It better captures the structures of families and reflects the types of communities and neighbors we strive to be.”

Although those making minimum wage will see 100% wage replacement, benefits decrease as income rises.

The Oregon Employment Department will determine what percentage of payroll contributions should go to fund program, though statutorily it can’t be more than 1%. Workers will pay 60% of whatever rate is decided, with employers contributing the remaining 40%.

Small businesses with less than 25 employees will not have to pay into the program, although their workers will still receive benefits.”

Portland, OR to create “equitable mobility” task force to determine charges for driving on public roads

From Oregon Live: Portland City Council approved a plan Wednesday to study short-and-long-term strategies to charge people to use city streets, an effort intended to reduce congestion and curb carbon emissions as the region expects as many as 500,000 new residents by 2040.

The city will create a Pricing for Equitable Mobility task force to study and recommend potential road user fees – such as cordons, where drivers are charged to use certain streets in the city center or potentially more robust freeway tolls in the area. The task force will meet later this year and is expected to offer initial recommendations in summer 2020 and final recommendations in the spring of 2021.

Commissioner Chloe Eudaly, who oversees the transportation bureau, said the city must take bold steps to try and get people out of their cars. “We are going the wrong direction on transportation,” she said, adding that 42% of Portland’s carbon emissions come from transportation sources. Portland and Multnomah County have the goal of transitioning 100% to renewable energy sources by 2050.

What strategies are on the table are still up for debate, but likely options include cordon pricing, a potential fee for Uber and Lyft fares, more demand-based parking pricing, and potentially a local fee to charge drivers based on how many miles they drive.

The vote comes nearly two years after the council urged the city to create a comprehensive congestion pricing and demand strategy. The Legislature in 2017 also kickstarted a plan to study whether and how to charge drivers on Interstate 5 and 205 in the Portland area. The state has since applied for tolling approval from the federal government.

Advocates like Jillian Detweiler, executive director of the nonprofit transportation organization The Street Trust, said the city already knew what it must do – and that’s offer incentives to get people out of cars and onto bikes or transit.

“This can’t wait,” she said of the pricing plan, adding it took 20 months to get to the point of creating a task force. Other supporters urged the city to act sooner, saying growing traffic congestion poses a health risk to young people here.

The task force is expected to include diverse voices from transit-dependent groups and organizations representing communities of color, folks who, city officials say, already shoulder an undue burden in commuting times because they’ve been forced to relocate to farther flung neighborhoods.

Chris Warner, Portland’s transportation director, said the city was seeing an increase in carbon emissions in recent years, not a decrease. Those emissions rose 6.4% last year, Warner said, and are up 8% since 1990.

“We have to reduce the amount we drive alone,” he told the council. Portland hopes its alliance with Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Climate Challenge, of which it is one of 25 cities chosen, will help the city “augment and accelerate” it’s near-term climate reduction goals.

Portland has studied how other major cities — like London, Stockholm and Singapore — have started charging drivers to use city roads or drive into sections of the city.

Charging people to drive works, according to the city’s research. But it’s important to have a solid plan in place, access to transit and tailor the pricing strategy to the region.

Portland’s challenge is intensified because unlike many other larger cities, the bulk of commuters who drive alone into downtown and close-in neighborhoods for work in the Rose City aren’t wealthy. PBOT officials said 65% of peak car commuters in Portland are medium or low-income, so finding out how to charge users to drive is a tricky issue.

Noah Siegel, PBOT’s interim deputy director, said Portland couldn’t make whatever fees it settles on for drivers punitive. “It’s really about freeing people from sitting in traffic in their cars,” he told the council.

ICE releases list of illegal aliens accused of rape and murder who were released by sanctuary city policies

Demorats working hard to protect illegal alien criminals and endangering law-abiding citizens.

From Daily Mail: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has released a list of criminal illegal aliens who were released into communities by sanctuary city policies, as federal officials try to convince cities and states to assist immigration enforcement.

The list released last week highlights cases in Oregon, which has the oldest sanctuary state law in the country, and Washington state, which passed an expanded sanctuary state policy last month.

Washington’s new sanctuary law is among the strongest in the nation, barring local police from assisting federal immigration enforcement officers in any way.

In signing the law, Democratic Governor Jay Inslee said, ‘We will not be complicit in the Trump administration’s depraved efforts to break up hard-working immigrant and refugee families.’

ICE argues that sanctuary policies, which bar local officials from notifying federal officials before they release illegal aliens from detention, allow dangerous criminals back into communities, and force ICE agents to conduct arrests at homes and workplaces rather than the controlled environment of a jail.

Illegal alien Fidel Lopez

Oregon jail releases Mexican man who raped dog

In February, Fidel Lopez, 52, pleaded guilty to raping his fiancee’s Lhasa Apso mix in Portland, Oregon.

While he was being held in the Multnomah County Jail, ICE officials interviewed him and determined that he was an illegally present Mexican citizen. The same day, ICE lodged an immigration detainer on Lopez for violating immigration laws.

In April 2019, Lopez was sentenced to 60 days in jail, the maximum allowed under state law for animal sexual abuse, and released on time served.

ICE says that the county jail did not honor the immigration detainer and released him without notice to immigration officials.

After his release, ICE apprehended Lopez at his residence and served him a notice to appear. He is currently being held at ICE’s Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma pending immigration proceedings.

‘There is an inherent increase in risk to personnel and bystanders when ICE officers and agents must go out into the community to proactively locate these previously detained criminal aliens,’ ICE said in a statement.

Honduran man ‘kills and dismembers his cousin’ after Washington cops released him without notifying ICE

In October 2017, Rosalio Ramos-Ramos was arrested in Kent, Washington on suspicion of methamphetamine possession after calling 911 and making bizarre confessions to involvement in a supposed sexual assault.

While being booked into King County Jail, Ramos-Ramos made statements that he wanted to die and began fighting with corrections officers, injuring five of them, and was hospitalized for a head injury he himself sustained while officers subdued him.

After seeing his named on the local booking log, ICE identified Ramos-Ramos as an illegally present Honduran citizen with prior felony convictions and four prior removals from the U.S.

ICE told the local police department that policy barred them from arresting people at a hospital, and issued a detainer asking the local cops to hand him over for deportation.

However, Kent police were not on hand when Ramos-Ramos regained consciousness after a medically induced coma and walked free from the hospital.

In January 2018, Ramos-Ramos was arrested again in Seattle on suspicion of killing his cousin, dismembering the body, and stuffing the parts in a suitcase. He was charged with murder and is being held in the King County Jail on a $2 million bond. ICE has lodged another detainer with local jail officials.

Illegal alien Martin Gallo-Gallardo

In March 2018, Martin Gallo-Gallardo was arrested in Portland, Oregon and charged with domestic violence. While he was detained at the Multnomah County Jail, ICE identified him as a citizen of Mexico who was unlawfully present in the U.S. and lodged an immigration detainer.

ICE says that jail officials did not honor the immigration detainer and released the convicted criminal two days later, without notifying ICE. Following his release, ICE made multiple, unsuccessful attempts to locate and arrest the Gallo-Gallardo.

In October 2018, Gallo-Gallardo was arrested again, this time on felony murder charges for allegedly killing his wife. An autopsy found the wife died from blunt-force head trauma and multiple stab wounds.

Following the murder, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office blamed ICE and said federal agents should have tracked down and arrested Gallo-Gallardo after he was released. Gallo-Gallardo is being held in the Clackamas County Jail without bond on the murder charge. ICE has lodged another detainer with local officials.

Convicted rapist ‘returns to victimize same wheelchair-bound woman’ after Seattle officials release him in defiance of ICE detainer

Mexican national Francisco Carranza-Ramirez, 35, is currently on the run from cops in Seattle after police said that he returned and raped the same wheelchair-bound victim he was previously convicted of sexually assaulting.

Police say that the initial rape occurred in September 2018 when Carranza-Ramirez saw the woman and followed her into her apartment building, attacking her in front of her two-year-old son. The woman managed to surreptitiously dial 911 and left the line open during the attack, and Carranza-Ramirez was caught in the act when police responded.

Carranza-Ramirez entered an Alford plea to the rape charge in February, admitting a jury would likely find him guilty. He is a Mexican national present in the country illegally.

He was released from jail last Thursday, on a judge’s admonishment to return to Mexico of his of own volition. Instead, police say that he returned to the 32-year-old woman’s home and proceeded to strangle, beat and rape her in front of her toddler son.

Carranza-Ramirez is currently being sought, and officials in Seattle now believe he may have returned to Mexico. US Marshals are helping sheriff’s detectives and working with Mexican authorities to track down and arrest Carranza-Ramirez.

You is special: Oregon judge rules transgender prisoner must have transgender cellmate or be housed alone

Brandy Hall…aka Brandon Wayne Nelson

The transgender inmate, “Brandy,” is in jail for the following crimes: rape, sodomy and sex abuse.

From Oregon Live: A judge this week ordered the state to house a transgender female inmate in a cell separate from male inmates and to protect her from harassment.

The decision for inmate Brandy Hall is believed to be a first in Oregon at a men’s prison, both state officials and Hall’s attorney said.

It paves the way for other transgender inmates to make the same request unless the Oregon Department of Corrections creates an overarching housing policy for transgender and intersex prisoners, said attorney Tara Herivel.

Hall “is a woman in a male prison and I think at a very basic level, that is understood as being extremely dangerous and problematic by most people,” Herivel said.

“But this is an area where as we’re expanding our ideas as a culture of what gender identity is, it’s also really expanding in the legal arena and I think this is a very important first step.”

Hall filed a habeas corpus complaint in June 2018 challenging her incarceration at the Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla, contending the state was violating her constitutional rights by refusing to address physical and sexual harassment she endured.

She also sought to receive medical care via gender reassignment surgery and to be in a prison that corresponds with her gender identity.

An order Wednesday by Circuit Judge J. Burdette Pratt in Umatilla County calls for Hall to be housed either in a single cell, have a transgender cellmate or one who doesn’t identify as their sex assigned at birth.

The Corrections Department showed a “deliberate indifference” to Hall’s safety by placing her in a cell with male inmates, he said.

Since April, Hall, 34, has been at the Oregon State Correctional Institution in Salem, where she initially had a transgender woman as a cellmate but now has no cellmate. She first entered Two Rivers in 2009 and has had male cellmates.

Hall was convicted of sex crimes in 2007. She transitioned while in prison. Her earliest release date is in May 2021.

Hall was diagnosed with gender dysphoria, a condition when people identify as a gender different from the one they were assigned at birth. Hall has presented as a woman since 2014 and has been on hormone therapy since 2016, according to court records.

One of the treatments for gender dysphoria is gender reassignment surgery, Hall’s complaint said. She was approved for the surgery by a corrections review committee last September, but the surgery hasn’t been arranged.

A guaranteed way to change your gender…

The judge said corrections officials “must do everything within their ability” to stop other inmates from verbally or sexually harassing Hall and to prevent staff from doing the same.

But Pratt also found that Hall didn’t prove the Corrections Department violated her constitutional rights. He stopped short of overturning the state’s decision to deny Hall’s request to be transferred to the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, the state’s only women’s prison.

The judge determined that prison officials weren’t indifferent to her safety in that instance because a Corrections Department committee that addresses the needs of transgender and intersex inmates considered her request and factored in Hall’s 2007 criminal convictions, which included sexual abuse of girls.
