Wendy's plans self-ordering kiosks at 1,000 locations

15-an-hour
Via Business Insider: Wendy’s says it plans to install self-ordering kiosks at about 1,000 locations by the end of the year.  A typical location would have three kiosks, The Columbus Dispatch reported. Higher-volume restaurants will be given priority for the kiosks.
Wendy’s chief information officer, David Trimm, said the kiosks are intended to appeal to younger customers and reduce labor costs. Kiosks also allow customers of the fast food giant to circumvent long lines during peak dining hours while increasing kitchen production.  Trim estimates the company will see a return on its investment in less than two years.
They are looking to improve their automation and their labor costs, and this is a good way to do it,” said Darren Tristano, vice president with Technomic, a food-service research and consulting firm. “They are also trying to enhance the customer experience. Younger customers prefer to use a kiosk.
Kiosks are also valued by the Dublin, Ohio-based company for their ability to provide data about customers.  “This move puts them at the forefront of the kiosk and tech movement,” Tristano said.  Kiosks already have been installed at several central Ohio locations, where the company first tested the technology.
Customers will still be able to order at the counter for now, although Tristano predicts that mobile ordering and payment via smartphones will one day overtake self-ordering kiosks and cash registers.

Ohio governor vetoes 'heartbeat' abortion bill, but passes 20-week ban

At six weeks, your sweet pea is developing central organs such as: kidney, liver, and lungs. Your baby’s heart beat runs between 80 and 150 times per minute. An ultrasound/checkup at this time will take a very long time to ensure that your baby is growing healthy.
Yet Planned Parenthood wants to celebrate  a victory of the heartbeat bill defeat! Yeah to women’s health care abortion!

From USA Today: COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. John Kasich on Tuesday rejected the so-called “heartbeat bill,” breaking with his party to veto legislation that would have given Ohio the strictest abortion ban in the nation.
Kasich did tighten Ohio’s abortion laws by signing a bill that would prevent abortions after 20 weeks’ gestation, when opponents of the procedure say fetuses can feel pain.

A baby at 20 weeks gestation

Still, the governor will face backlash from conservative Republicans for killing the bill they say would have prevented thousands of abortions. The measure prohibited abortions after a fetal heartbeat was detected, as early as six weeks’ gestation.
Janet Porter, a northeast Ohio activist who has led the effort to pass the bill, sent a message to her supporters Tuesday: “IT IS NOT OVER.” She urged them to encourage Republicans to override Kasich’s veto before the new legislative session kicks off January 3 – a prospect that seems unlikely.
Many Republican lawmakers, emboldened by Donald Trump’s recent election, wanted Kasich to sign the more restrictive ban. GOP leaders like Senate President Keith Faber saw an opportunity to use the heartbeat bill to overturn Roe v. Wade, counting on new Trump-appointed, conservative U.S. Supreme Court justices.
In vetoing the bill, Kasich pointed to judicial precedent, saying the legislation was “clearly contrary to the Supreme Court of the United States’ current rulings on abortion.”
The governor joined Ohio Right to Life and several Republican lawmakers who opposed the six-week ban, saying similar measures already were ruled unconstitutional in North Dakota and Arkansas. Why spend taxpayer money defending the law?
“The State of Ohio will be the losing party in a lawsuit and, as the losing party, the State of Ohio will be forced to pay hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to cover the legal fees for the pro-choice activists’ lawyers,” Kasich wrote in a veto message.
Ohio Right to Life President Mike Gonidakis praised Kasich’s approach. “While it must have been difficult, the current make-up of a radically pro-abortion Supreme Court required the governor to exercise great restraint,” Gonidakis said.
The 20-week ban will restrict access to abortion while still chipping away at Roe v. Wade, abortion opponents such as Gonidakis argue. Still, it does not include exceptions for rape, incest or severe fetal anomalies. It does include an exception to save the life of a pregnant woman.
More than a dozen states have a ban on abortions after 20 weeks gestation. Still, those could be overturned or taken to the Supreme Court for ruling. Current Supreme Court standards say states may not limit abortions before a fetus is viable outside the womb, generally accepted as 24 weeks’ gestation.
Abortion rights’ supporters seem torn on how to respond to Kasich’s veto. They celebrated a victory with the heartbeat bill’s defeat, but they also adamantly opposed the 20-week ban, which was seen as an extension of Ohio Republicans’ continued fight to reduce access to abortions. The state had 14 abortion clinics in 2013 and now has nine. Cincinnati has one surgical abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood clinic in Mount Auburn, and it nearly lost its license to operate last year.

“Don’t let John Kasich fool you. He is one of the most extreme anti-abortion governors in this country. Kasich is on a mission to make abortion illegal in Ohio, and he’s intent on using smoke and mirrors and backdoor politics to do it,” said Dawn Laguens, executive vice president of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, in a statement.
Very few abortions are performed after 20 weeks in Ohio. Last year, 145 abortions occurred at 21 weeks or later, according to Ohio Department of Health records. The 20-week ban will take effect in 90 days.

Aetna ditching 70% of its ObamaCare business

Obamacare: Going as planned.
tried to warn you
Via NY Post: Insurance giant Aetna won’t be offering coverage under ObamaCare next year in 11 of the 15 states it now serves — an announcement that instantly became an issue in the presidential race.
Aetna’s decision led Donald Trump to charge that President Obama’s health care reform was “imploding.” “Aetna’s decision to leave the Affordable Care Act’s public marketplaces is the latest blow to this broken law that is slowly imploding under its regulatory red tape,” said Trump campaign deputy national policy director Dan Kowalski.
Millions of Americans have lost their health coverage under this disastrous policy, eliminating their ability to choose their doctors. Thousands of businesses have been forced to cut employment or shutter their doors in response to Obama’s signature achievement,” he added.
The company had previously warned that it expected to lose more than $300 million this year on the 900,000 patients it covers under the Affordable Care Act. Aetna said it is pulling out of ObamaCare markets in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas.
Aetna does not currently offer the policies in New York. It does offer other medical insurance to individuals and small businesses as well as large employers in the state, officials said. It will continue to offer policies in Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska and Virginia.
ObamaCare is credited with expanding coverage to millions of previously uninsured or under-insured people.
O laughs
But insurers have complained they have lost money on the policies. United Health Group and Humana are other insurers exiting ObamaCare plans.
Aetna CEO Mark Bertolini, in a statement, said there were not enough younger, healthier customers signing up to make ObamaCare policies sustainable. “The vast majority of payers have experienced continued financial stress within their individual public exchange business. Providing affordable, high-quality health care options to consumers is not possible without a balanced risk pool,” Bertolini said.
More than a dozen nonprofit insurance co-ops have shut down in the past couple years. The pullouts could spell trouble because competition is supposed to help control price increases.
Some states like Alaska and Oklahoma will be left with only one insurer selling ObamaCare plans to individuals in 2017. More densely populated states like New York say their ObamaCare markets remain strong.
But rates for customers are skyrocketing to maintain stability.
Obamacare Screw U
Citing increased medical costs, New York recently authorized insurers offering individual ObamaCare plans to increase premiums by an average 16.6 percent — the highest rate hike in the program’s four-year existence. New York’s small businesses will get hit with an average 8.3 percent rate hike.

Judge rules that 17-year-olds can vote in Ohio presidential primary

Gee, I wonder why Bernie Sanders would be in on this? Why would a teenager vote for a 74-year-old socialist? Let me take a wild guess…
bernie sanders free stuff
From the AP: A judge on Friday granted a request to let 17-year-olds vote in the swing state’s presidential primary just days before the election.
Ohio allows 17-year-olds who will be 18 before the fall election to vote in Tuesday’s primary, with some exceptions. Young Ohio voters can decide on congressional, legislative and mayoral contenders, but they can’t vote on ballot issues or candidates for a political party’s governing body.

Whether the teens can vote in the presidential primary race had been under dispute in the perennial battleground state. The state’s Republican elections chief, Secretary of State Jon Husted, had said Ohio’s rules and constitution didn’t permit it.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted

On Friday, after the judge’s ruling, Husted said, “This last minute legislating from the bench on election law has to stop.” He vowed to appeal. “Our system cannot give one county court the power to change 30 years of election law for the entire state of Ohio, 23 days into early voting and only four days before an election,” Husted said.

Nine 17-year-old registered voters in central Ohio had sued him in state court over his interpretation. At issue was a distinction between “elect” and “nominate.” A manual for elections officials issued last year by Husted said 17-year-olds can vote “solely on the nomination of candidates” — and not in the presidential primary “because delegates are elected and not nominated.”

But the delegates aren’t assuming any office, said the teen’s attorney, Rachel Bloomekatz. They serve as the voters’ surrogates at a party’s nominating convention. Plus, the names of delegates corresponding to each presidential candidate do not appear on the primary ballot. Presidential candidates earn their party’s nomination by collecting a majority of the delegates awarded in primaries and caucuses.

Husted argued Ohio has operated under the same rules for 17-year-olds in past primaries. The teens claimed Husted is violating their voting rights. They asked Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Richard Frye to issue an emergency order blocking Husted’s instructions that forbid them to vote in the presidential primary, which he granted Friday. Early voting has been underway in for weeks in Ohio.

Chad Readler, an attorney for Husted, told Frye at a Thursday hearing that changing the rules would create “mass confusion” at the boards, though Bloomekatz argued the instructions could be simple: Count the votes.

Separately, Democrat Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign has filed a federal lawsuit over the limitations. A federal judge earlier Friday temporarily halted the lawsuit, saying the court would abstain from a decision in the case until the state court ruled on the similar lawsuit.

At least 20 other states allow 17-year-olds to vote in presidential primaries or caucuses, though rules sometimes vary based on political party, according to FairVote, an organization that tracks electoral issues.

Ariel Castro, Cleveland Kidnap Suspect.

castro

An Ohio prosecutor said he may seek the death penalty against Ariel Castro, the Cleveland man charged today with the kidnap and rape of three women he allegedly brutalized for a decade while allegedly inducing abortions in at least one of the captives.

“Capital punishment must be reserved for those crimes that are truly the worst examples of human conduct,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty said today, indicating that Castro will likely face additional charges of aggravated murder related to the pregnancies.

The death penalty is applicable under Ohio law for the “most depraved criminals who commit aggravated murder during the course of a kidnapping,” McGinty said.

Castro allegedly induced abortions in one of his victims, Michele Knight, 32, on at least five separate occasions by punching her in the stomach.

But another alleged captive, Amanda Berry, carried a child to term, delivering the now 6-year-old girl in a plastic kiddie pool, police said.

Castro today was charged with four charges of kidnap, one for each woman and the 6-year-old child whom Berry delivered while in captivity. He was charged with three counts of rape.

Bail was set at $2 million per case, for a total of $8 million.      Hmmmmmmm

Not happy about it , but I guess the dirtbag is entitled to bail. Right?
Well maybe not.

      Nakoula Basseley Nakoula

Nakoula Basseley Nakoula deserves a place in American history. He is the first person in this country jailed for violating Islamic anti-blasphemy laws.
You won’t find that anywhere in the charges against him, of course. As a practical matter, though, everyone knows that Nakoula wouldn’t be in jail if he hadn’t produced a video crudely lampooning the prophet Muhammad.
After the attack on US facilities in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others, the Obama administration claimed the terrorist assault had been the outgrowth of a demonstration against the video. In a speech at the United Nations, the president declared — no doubt with Nakoula in mind — “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.”
After Benghazi, the administration was evidently filled with a fierce resolve — to bring Nakoula to justice.
Charles Woods, the father of a Navy SEAL killed in Benghazi, said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told him when his son’s body returned to Andrews Air Force Base: “We will make sure that the person who made that film is arrested and prosecuted.”
Lo and behold, Nakoula was brought in for questioning by five Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies at midnight,

eventually arrested and held without bond, and finally thrown into jail for a year.

Did I read That right? No Bail? But…But…But…
He sits in La Tuna Federal Correctional Institution in Texas, even as the deceptive spin that blamed his video for the Benghazi attack looks more egregious by the day.
Rest HERE
So Dear readers can you spot the difference between the mild mannered Mr . Castro who only Kidnapped, Raped, & Tortured 3 young woman for 10 years…oh and by the way did you know he’s a registered Democrat. https://clashdaily.com/2013/05/ariel-castro-cleveland-kidnapper-is-a-registered-democrat/
And the ever so violent Terrorist Nakoula Basseley Nakoula Who dared to make the crappiest vid of all time and the audacity to tell mohamad he was a dirt bag.
I will give you a hint. Look for the big Red Comments of mine to see if you can spot the difference. Oh and here you may need this.

Union goons stealing Romney signs

Look for the union label…

Toledo Union Members Caught with a Truckload of Stolen Romney Signs

Media Trackers: Four men caught in a Sheet Metal Workers International Association (SMWIA) truck full of Romney/Ryan signs were issued summons for receiving stolen property early Friday morning in Perrysburg. Local police responded after residents reported seeing men stealing Romney signs in the middle of the night.

A Perrysburg Police incident report published by the Ohio Liberty Coalition listed four adult males: Corey Beaubien, Christopher Monaghan, Sean Bresler, and John Russell. The police report indicated the vehicle in question was registered to SMWIA Local 33 of Parma.

John Russell and Chris Monaghan are listed as Business Agents for the union’s Toledo district on the SMWIA Local 33 website. Additionally, Facebook accounts appearing to belong to Beaubien, Monaghan, and Russell identify the three as employees of SMWIA Local 33.

Monaghan, age 41, uses as his profile picture a “Yes on 2″ logo supporting the ballot issue from union front Voters First Ohio. He lists The Ed Show on MSNBC as his favorite TV show, and “Likes” union front We Are Ohio as well as a page titled “I will vote for Barack Obama in 2012.”

Russell, age 39, “Likes” Obama for America – Ohio. Beaubien, age 37, “Likes” Barack Obama, Obama for America – Ohio, and Sherrod Brown.

The Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 33 – Toledo page on Facebook is awash in liberal talking points promoting Obama and attacking Romney. An October 27 status update pleading with members to help distribute campaign literature closed with, “We have 10 days left lets not wake up on Wednesday with our heads hung low because we lost. Remember right to work for less will be the death of us all.”

Romney has voiced support for a national right-to-work law, which would allow employees in unionized workplaces to opt out of union membership without being forced to pay “fair share” fees.

The Ohio Liberty Coalition release quoted John McAvoy, president of the Northwest Ohio Conservative Coalition, who said, “This morning 4 men driving a pickup truck registered to the Sheet Metal Union, Local 33 were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property – in the form of a bed full of Romney/Ryan yard signs, some measuring as large as 4′x8′.”

“Also in the truck were tools such as drills, which were possibly used to take the large signs down,” McAvoy added. “The signs were allegedly removed from several private property and business locations across Lucas and Wood County.”

Tom Zawistowski, president of the Ohio Liberty Coalition, claimed that theft of Republican signage has been reported by conservative activists from across Ohio this year. “In Portage County, we had gotten advance notice that lots of signs were going to be taken last night and sure enough entire streets of signs were missing this morning. Most of which were on private property and many that were not near the road,” Zawistowski said.

“It will be interesting to learn from the investigation if those caught in Perrysburg were being paid by the Union while they were taking the signs. Our member groups will not hesitate to prosecute individuals who are caught taking signs and we encourage anyone that has a sign stolen to file a police report.”

Stealing yard signs? Not surprising. Stupid though. That won’t convince anybody not to vote for Romney/Ryan.

My car has been keyed three times during the past six months, most likely due to my anti-Obama stickers. Keep it up liberals – your childish pranks only make us stronger!

Would you let this man kiss you on the lips?

Daniel Halper reports for The Weekly Standard that Joe “they’ll-put-you-back-in-chains” Biden was campaigning at the Canfield fair in Ohio today.

At 2:30, he stopped at the food booth of Antone’s Italian Grill and tasted the $6 fried cheese — balls of fried cheese, with tomato sauce and pasta.

An Obamabot fair-goer named Bev Kalmer from Poland, Ohio, gushed at Biden: “Welcome to Ohio! You gotta keep the chair.”

By chair, Kalmer meant the POS in the White House — a reference to Clint Eastwood’s speech at the RNC last night, in which he pretended to carry on a conversation with Obama, symbolized by an empty chair.

At which, Biden — who will be 70 this November — kissed Kalmer on the lips.

Ewwww….

My question to the female readers of FOTM:

Would you let a strange man kiss you on the lips?

I would have slapped Biden.

This man does not observe or respect personal boundaries. I no longer doubt the authenticity of this bizarre pic:

Using a people search engine, I found a Beverly A. Kalmer, age 72, in Lowelville, Ohio. Lowelville is a small town 4.7 miles to the east of Poland, Ohio.

That explains it! Bev the cougar was thrilled that she got a kiss from a younger man. LOL

Thugs beat up 78-year-old white man "for Trayvon"

In the name of Trayvon Martin — who was fatally shot by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman in Sanford, Florida, last February — six young thugs in East Toledo, Ohio, beat a 78-year-old man on the head, knocked him to the ground, kicked him in his chest, and threatened to kill “the white man.”

Dallas Watts, 78, points to where he was kicked in the chest.

Taylor Dungjen reports for the Toledo Blade, April 3, 2012, that Dallas Watts, 78, was on his way home from the nearby Gas Express Mart at Starr Avenue and White Street about 4:45 p.m. Saturday when the boys approached him.
Six juveniles — the youngest 11, and the oldest 17 — nearly boxed in the old man. One pointed at him and said, “take him down.”
Watts, carrying home two small bags of pork rinds to dole out as treats to his three dachshunds, looked at the youth and said, “Why you picking on me?”
The boy, again, allegedly told his friends to “take him down.”
Watts said one of the boys delivered a single blow to the back of his head. He was knocked to the ground, then lifted from the ground so one of the boys could “drop-kick” him in the chest. One boy put his foot on the back of Watts’ neck, with another shouting, “Kill him!”
While Watts was down, the boys kicked him over and over, shouting, “[Get] that white [man]. This is for Trayvon … Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man],” according to a police report.
The boys fled when a man shouted at them.
Toledo police charged two children — the 11-year-old and a 17-year-old — with robbery. The boys were ordered held in detention at the Lucas County Juvenile Justice Center, prosecutor Lori Olender said.
The 17-year-old also faces a felonious assault charge from an unrelated shooting. He had allegedly shot Mark Bolling, 24, in the 600 block of Leonard Street in East Toledo on March 18.

A Vietnam vet, Watts had raised his children to be non-violent. But now, he plans to buy a gun and obtain a permit to carry it because “What happened to me … down here on the corner, that changed my perspective on humanity.”

Dallas Watts should sue NBC, ABC, Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama, and all the Trayvon race hustlers for fomenting a race war in America. And if these six thugs aren’t charged with a hate crime, then there is no longer justice in America.

Texas Bank's New Sign

A WORD TO THE WISE PERHAPS?

Chappell Hill is a small town between Houston and Brenham on Hwy 290.
CHAPPELL HILL Any would-be robbers looking to walk into the bank here had best think twice. There is a new sign in town.
About a month ago, Chappell Hill Bank president Edward Smith looked at a sign on the front door prohibiting concealed weapons from his business and decided to make a policy change. Licensed to carry a handgun? Come on in, and bring your weapon.
The sign, now prominently displayed on the bank’s front door, says: “Lawful concealed carry permitted on these premises. Management recognizes the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution as an inalienable right of all citizens. We therefore support and encourage the carrying of licensed concealed weapons.” Smith said he made the policy change to send a warning to potential robbers, and also to express support to Americans right to bear arms.
“We had the sign on the window, the red circle with the pistol inside and a line through it.And I started thinking, We’ve got this no gun sign up and the guy (robber) can come in and do what he wants. But if you’ve got a policy allowing handguns, he won’t know how many people are going to be in here carrying a concealed weapon. There may be some little old lady who’s mad at the government, and she’d love to use it” he said.
The bank has been robbed twice in the last three years, including last March when a Western-attired man walked in, ordered bank employees to fill a canvas bag with money and then fled in a pickup truck. The man, who did not brandish a weapon, has not been caught.
The sign has made Chappell Hill Bank and Smith somewhat of an Internet sensation. A photo of the sign has made its way around the world, and Smith has even been interviewed for the National Rifle Association‘s radio networkhttps://
www.nranews.com/#/nranews ;. He’s also been contacted by other media outlets wanting to do stories.
“It’s kind of gotten a life of its own” he said.

Expressions of support have far outnumbered criticism.
Smith has been contacted by officials from larger banks considering taking similar action, and has received e-mails in support from across the United States and even from England, Canada, and Germany ..

“I haven’t gotten any from Chicago or California , which doesn’t surprise me”, Smith said with a laugh. “We did get a real nice e-mail from an 88-year-old World War II veteran who said it’s about time somebody stood up in this country.”

The NRA has even invited him to speak at an upcoming convention, but Smith said, “I’m still deciding on that.”
Smith said he’s only received one negative e-mail, from an anonymous sender.

Score One For The Unborn

Ohio House Passes Ban on Abortions, Late-Term Abortions

LifeNews.com: The Ohio state House today passed three pro-life bills including a measure that would ban most all abortions, one that bans late-term abortions and a third that stops taxpayer funding of abortions in Ohio under Obamacare.

The chamber approved the “Heartbeat Bill” that would ban virtually all abortions in the state starting at the 22-day mark when an unborn child’s heart begins beating. The legislation has the support of some pro-life advocates but Ohio Right to Life and other pro-life groups oppose the bill because of various concerns about its ability to survive a court challenge.

The House, led by Republicans, voted 54-43 for the abortion ban, which now faces less certain prospects in the state Senate. “This is a historic vote,” said Porter, the president of Ohio-based Faith2Action,one of the main pro-life groups pushing the legislation. “When passed, the heartbeat bill will be the most protective legislation in the nation.

The Late-Term Abortion Ban would require physicians to test the viability of an unborn child if the mother were seeking an abortion at 20 weeks or later into her pregnancy.  If the child is found to be able to live outside the mother’s womb, the abortion cannot be performed, except in circumstances where the pregnancy is a threat to the mother’s health.

Cathy Levy, executive director of the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, condemned the passage of the three pro-life bills, according to the Lancaster Gazette. “These bills will return us to the days of back-alley abortions and will not keep abortions from happening,” she claimed. “Is the coat hanger what God would want for a beloved daughter?”

I doubt God would want a coat hanger for a “beloved” daughter.  I also doubt God would want a baby sucked from a mother’s womb, at any stage.  Good for these Ohio leaders!
