NBA getting rid of the word ‘owner’ because it’s racist

Founded in 1946, the National Basketball Association (NBA) is a men’s professional basketball league composed of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada, and is widely considered to be the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world.

The NBA is the only top North American sport that does not have a white majority audience. In 2017, 47% of NBA viewers were Black, 34% were White, 11% were Hispanic, and 8% were Asian.

TMZ reports, June 3, 2019, that “high-ranking sources” from multiple NBA teams told TMZ Sports that they’ve had “high-level conversations about doing away with the term ‘owner’ over the past year” because the term “feels racially insensitive” in a league where the majority of players are black.

At least two NBA teams have already made the switch:

  • The Philadelphia 76ers changed their titles from Owners to Managing Partners, and Co-owners are now called Limited Partners.
  • In Los Angeles, Steve Ballmer — who was billed as Owner for the first couple of years after he took over the Clippers — is now listed as Chairman on the team’s website.

The “conversations” about getting rid of the term “owner” gained steam in late 2018 when Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green appeared on LeBron James‘ show, “The Shop”. Green said, “You shouldn’t say owner,” and proposed that the title be changed to either CEO, Chairman or Majority Shareholder.

“Racially oppressed” Draymond Green receives annual salary of $16.4 million and has an estimated net worth of $20 million.

Ironically, Draymond’s team — the Golden State Warriors — still lists Joe Lacob as the owner of that team.

TMZ was told there’s no real pressure coming from the NBA to change their titles. A spokesperson spokesperson said: “We refer to the owners of our teams as Governors; each team is represented on our Board of Governors.”

Former basketball player Michael Jordan, who’s black, is the principal owner and chairman of the NBA team Charlotte Hornets. Does he get to keep the title “owner”?

Al Sharpton approved: LeBron James says NFL team owners have slave mentality

Birds of a feather…

LeBron being a good progressive and keeping the hate and divide alive and well…

From Yahoo: LeBron James, who has consistently used his platform as one of the most famous men in America to discuss social issues, has said that NFL owners have a “slave mentality”.

The Los Angeles Lakers star made the comments on Friday’s broadcast of his HBO discussion show, The Shop. “In the NFL they got a bunch of old white men owning teams and they got that slave mentality,” James said. “And it’s like, ‘This is my team. You do what the f*ck I tell y’all to do. Or we get rid of y’all.’

James’s comments come after a stormy few seasons in the NFL. Two players, Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, have filed grievances against the league and its teams’ owners alleging they colluded to keep them out of football due to their stance on social issues. Both men knelt during the national anthem to highlight racial injustice in the United States. Although Reid has now found a team, the Carolina Panthers, this week he said he had been randomly drug tested by the league six times in 11 weeks. Yahoo Sports calculated the chances of that happening were 0.17%.

The NBA, on the other hand, has been praised for being much more progressive on social issues. “The difference between the NBA and the NFL, the NBA is what we believe he [a player] can be. The potential,” James said. “In the NFL, it’s like what can you do for me this Sunday, or this Monday or this Thursday, and if you ain’t it, we moving on.”

James highlighted the work of the NBA’s commissioner, Adam Silver, in making the league a welcoming environment for players. “I’m so appreciative in our league of our commissioner,” James said. “He doesn’t mind us having … a real feeling and to be able to express that. It doesn’t even matter if Adam agrees with what we are saying, he at least wants to hear us out. As long as we are doing it in a very educational, nonviolent way, then he’s absolutely OK with it.”

James has been quick to speak up about social issues in the past. He is a long-time critic of the US president, Donald Trump. In an interview with the web series Uninterrupted in January, James said of Trump: “The number one job in America … is someone who doesn’t understand the people, and really don’t give a f*ck about the people.”

In February, James explained why he was critical of the president: “While we cannot change what comes out of that man’s mouth, we can continue to alert the people that watch us, that listen to us, that this is not the way.”

Gun control hypocrite LeBron James has 10 armed security guards at his home

Basketball player LeBron James, like many celebrities, is a gun control hypocrite.

Back in 2015 LeBron told the AP the following:

There’s no room for guns. Obviously you’re not going to be able to take every gun out, I don’t know how you can do that. There’s so many around now, today. But if there’s some stipulations behind it or some penalties, some big time penalties or rules or regulations about carrying firearms, legal or illegal, people will second-guess themselves.”

After the Parkland shooting earlier this year, LeBron said the following:

“It’s a tragedy and we’ve seen these schools and these tragedies happen in America and there’s been no change to gun control. We have a kid who wasn’t legal — legally not able to go to get a beer at a bar, but could go buy a AR-14 or an AR-15? Like, is that? How? It doesn’t make sense. And I’m not saying that he should be legal to go buy a beer, but I’m saying, how is it possible that we can have minors to go buy a gun? I don’t have the answer to it.

FYI: The Parkland shooter was not a minor, he was 19 years old.

There’s been a rash of burglaries at Hollyweird homes so LeBron is beefing up his security.

As reported by TMZ:

Bron has at least 10 armed security personnel at the home — including off-duty police officers. We’re told the NBA’s security team is also involved in the security plans.”

Must be nice to afford private security, you hypocrite.

Proggies now doxxing those attending Trump rallies: Hoops legend Kevin McHale attended rally & now "should never work in the NBA again"

mchale at trump rally

Proggies now identifying folk at Trump rallies and slamming them on Twitter

While the left continue with their hysterics, Trump’s approval rating has tied the highest point of his presidency, rising three percentage points to 45%.
But keep it up with your bullying tactics, lefties. That’s a spot-on approach to winning hearts and minds.
From Fox News: NBA legend and Turner Sports analyst Kevin McHale is being slammed on social media. Not because he made an inflammatory comment, offended a particular group or even unleashed unpopular basketball views. McHale is under fire because it appears he attended a rally for President Trump.
A man who appears to be the 6-foot-10 McHale was visible in the background during Trump’s rally in Duluth, Minn. on Wednesday night and Internet sleuths quickly noticed and decided he shouldn’t be associated with the sport going forward.
Sports radio host Henry Lake wrote, “If Kevin McHale actually showed up to Trump’s rally in Duluth today with everything that is happening now and what Trump’s done and stands for, yeah he’s cancelled.”
A different Kevin McHale, an actor who appeared in “Glee,” tweeted, ‘If you’re looking for a different Kevin McHale to support, one who most definitely would never attend a Trump rally or align himself with racists, etc., I’m still here.”
Writer Nathaniel Friedman tweeted that McHale “is extremely stupid for attending a public Trump event” and that he should “never work in the NBA again.”
“Kevin McHale just became the other side of Colin Kaepernick. Hard to see him ever coaching again in the NBA,” one writer added while another said, “Happy draft day to everyone but Kevin McHale”
McHale, a Minnesota native, made seven NBA All-Star Games and was part of three championship teams during the Boston Celtics dynasty in the 1980s. After his Hall of Fame playing career, he held coaching gigs with the Houston Rockets and his hometown Timberwolves.
McHale’s current employer, Turner Sports, declined comment. A company spokesperson declined to confirm whether or not it was actually McHale.
The Score editor Chris Walder was “disappointed” with McHale and dug up his wife’s pro-Trump Twitter feed. New York Daily News columnist Carron J. Phillips implied that people from Boston and Minnesota are racist.
Liberal blog Deadspin published an article headlined, “Celtics great Kevin McHale enjoys old feeling of being in an arena full of screaming bigots.”
Filmmaker Adam Best wrote, “Slap a scarlet letter on Kevin McHale and anybody else still supporting Trump after three years of this BS.”

Anger as transgender wrestler (FTM), born female and taking testosterone, breezes through women’s tournament – triggering complaints

mack-beggs

Mack Beggs

How intolerant of these complainers! /sarc
From Daily Mail: A transgender wrestler who stormed through a competition has been told he shouldn’t be allowed to wrestle women because it’s ‘cheating’.
Several people complained that 17-year-old Mack Beggs, of Texas, USA, should not be allowed to wrestle women as his testosterone treatment, which he is taking as he undergoes his transition from female to male, has made him too strong to wrestle women fairly.
But under the state’s governing policy for athletics, students must wrestle against the gender listed on their birth certificates.
On Friday, Mack Beggs was hailed the winner of the quarter-finals of the Texas state championships after beating Taylor Latham in the 110-pound class. The score was 18-7.
Ms. Latham’s mother said her daughter was wrestling someone whose body was chemically toned for strength.  She said: ‘I wanted her to forfeit as a protective mum. She’s a fighter. She’s not a quitter. She’s a senior. She’s fought for the last three years to get here. She was going to see it through even though I wasn’t sharing the same opinion.’
When the match finished, Mack Beggs shook hands with Ms. Latham and then celebrated.
While many cheered the champion, others said the match was unfair.  Patti Overstreet, a parent of another competitor was heard shouting from her seat: ‘That’s cheating’ and ‘Big cheater!’ She said: ‘Look at how beefed up she is. It’s because she’s taking an enhancement.
‘Whether she’s a boy, girl, wants to be purple or blue it doesn’t matter. When you’re using a drug and you’re 10 times stronger than the person you’re wrestling because of that drug that (shouldn’t be) allowed.’
Mack Beggs also beat Mya Engert 12-4 to push his record to 54-0 and leave him two victories away from a state title.   He will resume competition in the semi-finals today.
On Facebook, Mack Beggs addressed the criticism. He said: ‘The thing is, we want to wrestle each other. I feel so sick and disgusted by the discrimination not by the kids, the PARENTS AND COACHES.  These kids don’t care who you put in front of them to wrestle. We just want to WRESTLE. THEY are taking that away from me and from the people I’m competing with. SHARE (his post) SO WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE FOR THIS SPORT AND DISCRIMINATION!’
The controversy over Mack Beggs’ participation in the women’s sport comes at a crucial moment as the Trump administration announced an end to federal protections for transgender students. This means that states and school districts have been left to determine their own policies about whether or not transgender students should use facilities based on their identity.
In Texas, politicians are considering a bill which is similar to the controversial HB2, a law in North Carolina that prompted the NBA to move this year’s All-Star game out of that state.
If passed, the Texas version, called SB6, would require transgender people to use the bathroom of their ‘biological sex’. The University Interscholastic League (UIL), which oversees athletics in Texas public schools, enacted the birth certificate policy on Aug. 1.
Lawyer Jim Baudhuin tried and failed to get injunctions before both the district and regional competitions to prevent Mack Beggs from competing while he transitions.
Earlier this week, he said he doesn’t blame Mack Beggs for the situation, but faults the UIL. Mr. Baudhuin said: ‘The more I learn about this, the more I realize that she’s just trying to live her life and her family is, too. She’s being forced into that position. Who knows, through discovery we may find out that’s not the case. But every indication is, the way the winds are going now, the blame rests with the UIL and the superintendents.’
Despite criticism of the policy, deputy director of the UIL, Jamey Harrison said: ‘Ninety-five percent of the school superintendents in Texas voted for the rule as it was proposed, which was to use birth certificates. ‘So any rule can be reconsidered, but given the overwhelming support for that rule, I don’t expect it to change anytime soon.’

From Hollywood Reporter: The Cavaliers have made other arrangements for players who do not want to stay at a New York hotel branded by President-elect Donald Trump.
LeBron James and several teammates have decided not to stay at Trump Soho in lower Manhattan this week. The Cavs  booked rooms at the luxury hotel for two days, as the team will play the Knicks on Wednesday.
Cavs general manager David Griffin told the Associated Press that the team has made plans for a “group that wants to be  together elsewhere.” Griffin did not say where the players will be staying.
James publicly endorsed and campaigned for Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who lost the election to Trump. Several of his teammates, including Richard Jefferson and Iman Shumpert, have expressed their disappointment over Trump’s win.

“I can’t say I’ve ever been ashamed of our country,” Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Until today.”
“All of a sudden, you’re faced with the reality that the man who’s going to lead you has routinely used racist, misogynist, insulting words,” Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “That’s a tough one. That’s a tough one. I wish him well. I hope he’s a good president. I have no idea what kind of president he’ll be because he hasn’t said anything about what he’s going to do. We don’t know.
The defending NBA champions will arrive in New York on Tuesday after playing in Toronto on Monday night. The Cavs were honored by President Barack Obama last month at the White House for their title, the first for any Cleveland team since 1964.
