One big fat lie: Shannon Watts claims Moms Demand group isn’t anti-gun

Baloney.

In an interview with CBS News, Shannon Watts – founder of Bloomberg’s Moms Demand – claims their aren’t anti-gun.

Excerpts from their story:

“Moms Demand Action is a grassroots organization advocating for stronger gun control measures, founded as a Facebook group the day after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that took the lives of 26 people, 20 of whom were young children. But while its members advocate for an assault ban, Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts says that it’s a “misnomer” to call the group anti-gun.

“Often people think that because we’re doing this work, we’re anti-gun or we don’t support the Second Amendment. Nothing could be further from the truth,” Watts said in an interview with CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett in this week’s episode of “The Takeout” podcast. Watts noted that many volunteers the organization were gun owners or married to gun owners.

“This is simply about restoring the responsibilities that go along with gun rights,” Watts said. She added that while the top priorities for Moms Demand Action are background checks, red-flag laws and disarming domestic abusers, the organization also advocates for an assault weapons ban and has worked with municipalities on the issue.”

Ironic: Moms Demand gives presentation on gun safety, fails to model responsible behavior

Moms Demand modeling “responsible” behavior/ Lewiston Tribune photo

I love it when gun grabbers prove they know nothing about basic firearm safety and don’t practice what they preach. Granted, the gun this woman is holding in the picture is an air pellet gun yet she is contradicting the firearm safety rules listed directly behind her.

The Lewiston Tribune in Idaho reports that Bloomberg’s “Moms Demand” held a class to teach people about gun safety. From their report:

“A new group in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley is taking a grassroots approach to preventing unintentional firearm deaths among children by educating parents and gun owners about responsible ways to store guns.

The Moms Demand Action group held its second information session Wednesday to present the organization’s BeSmart campaign message, which aims to make adults responsible for the safety of children while around guns.

According to numbers presented by the group, each year in the United States nearly 300 children younger than age 18 gain access to a firearm and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else — often fatally. Another 500 children a year kill themselves with a gun.

“Deliberately, there is nothing in this program that says you shouldn’t have a gun*,” said Marcia Banta, a member of Moms Demand Action. “As a matter of fact, we are speaking much to people who do own guns. I am confident there is no one in this valley who sells guns that wants those guns to harm children.”

Banta, of Lewiston, has a concealed carry permit. She helped bring the program to the valley because she thinks it offers valuable tips.

As for Christie Fredericksen, also with Moms Demand Action, her family has been personally affected by gun violence. With the increased school shootings around the nation, she decided to join the organization. “It’s promoting common-sense solutions to decrease gun violence,” Fredericksen said.

The United States has the highest rate of unintentional shootings in the world, according to the presenters. Around 4.6 million children in America live in homes where guns are not safely locked up or are loaded when not in use.

“Gun violence has become all too common,” Fredericksen said. “If you haven’t been affected by it personally, you most likely know someone who has.”

The campaign’s message is simple. It encourages adults to take five steps to prevent child gun deaths and injuries. Those include securing guns in homes and vehicle by making sure they are unloaded and properly locked up; modeling responsible behavior around guns; asking about unsecured guns in other homes and vehicles kids plan to visit; recognizing the risks of teen suicide; and telling peers about the campaign.

The duo hopes to spur dialogue in the valley that will lead to fewer accidental shootings.”

*It’s ironic that the Moms Demand representative would make this statement considering their financier, gun-grabber Michael Bloomberg, is spending big bucks to eliminate your Second Amendment rights.

Triggered: Moms Demand upset with shotgun shell holiday décor lights

You see violence, I see some awesome decorative lights.

From Fox5DC: Walmart decided to bring in the Christmas season with an unusual set of lights that has a lot of people talking.

The retailer has listed the set of 10 Red and Green Remington Shotgun Shell Christmas Lights for $21.99. They are currently out of stock online. (You can buy some at Amazon!)

Some on social media said the lights were not in the spirit of the holiday season.

“I went to #Walmart today to see for myself and yep – shotgun shell Xmas lights. Cause nothing says #MerryChristmas or #Jesus like violence-inspired holiday lights. The pervasive gun culture is tough, but so are @MomsDemand,” Rebecca N said in a tweet.

Gun control bully: Misdemeanor charges filed against Moms Demand founding member, West University Place Council Woman Kellye Burke

Councilwoman Kellye Burke: Don’t let the sweet smile fool ‘ya…

This from a woman who demands safe communities for children.
From Click2Houston: Investigators at the Harris County Precinct One Constable’s Office on Wednesday filed a disorderly conduct charge against West University Place CouncilwomanKellye Burke, after accusations that she berated a group of teenage girls over a Trump T-shirt.
The girls said they were in line at Tiny’s Milk and Cookies in West U on Saturday, waiting to buy cookies for younger girls at their nearby church.
“A tall, short-haired blond woman came up to them and screamed, ‘Grab em by the (expletive) girls!'” the father of one of the girls said. He did not want to be identified, fearing retaliation against his daughter.
The girls initially tried to laugh it off, the father said.  “Then, she yells it again!” the father said. “At that point the girls were getting kind of scared, and then the woman starts, you know, going, ‘MAGA! MAGA! MAGA!’ while shaking her fist.”
One of the girls was wearing a shirt that read, “Trump: Make America Great Again,” the father said.
The father said the girls left without responding to the woman. He said one of the girls said she noticed that Burke had taken a picture of her.
“They were scared,” the father said. “They were absolutely scared. My little girl essentially wanted to know if this woman was going to hurt her.
West U police referred the case to Harris County Precinct One Constable’s office, which filed a class C misdemeanor charge against Burke.
When KPRC2 knocked at Burke’s door, she yelled from inside, “What are you doing at my house?”
“You know why we’re here at your house,” KPRC2 anchor and reporter Jacob Rascon said. She claimed to have no idea. “The disorderly conduct charge,” Rascon responded. “I’m putting my kids to bed!” she yelled. “Go away!”
“Adults can’t behave towards children like that, period,” the father said.
He said Burke reached out to his wife, and met with and apologized to both of them.
“We accepted her apology,” the father said. “I would be just as angry if any parent said this to my child but as an elected official I’ll let her voters handle this matter.
