Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot holds “accountability” meeting after another weekend of gun violence

There is no such thing as “accountability” in Chiraq.

Demorats have been in charge since 1931 and yet the gun violence CONTINUES.

From MyFoxChicago: City leaders met Monday following another violent weekend.

The second weekend of June saw 39 people shot, three of them fatally. Police were also able to arrest 36 people on gun-related charges and remove 115 illegal weapons from the street.

Since Mayor Lori Lightfoot took over, “Accountability Monday” has become a weekly affair between the mayor and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson. Also meeting with Mayor Lightfoot Monday was all 22 police district commanders to go over the weekend violence numbers.

“There’s nothing wrong with having another set of eyes looking at what we are doing,” said Johnson.

A police spokesperson says officers also arrested four robbery suspects and two shooting offenders over the weekend.

In hopes of decreasing violence numbers, the mayor and superintendent have announced the creation of “Business Liaison Officers.”

Each of the 22 districts will have a designated officer to be in direct communication between local businesses and the police.

“All those officers will have cell phones, so instead of those businesses trying to reach out to the commanders personally, they have an officer that they can go to 24 hours a day and report if they need some help,” said Johnson.

After most deadly weekend of violence this year, Chiraq still racking up the shootings (24 as of Wednesday)

New Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot is going to have her hands full…

Last weekend, Chiraq saw the worst weekend of gun violence so far this year. Fifty people were shot with 10 killed. Over Memorial Day weekend, 32 people were shot – 5 fatally.

When the homosexual, POC mayor Lori Lightfoot was elected, she proclaimed, “Well, get ready because reform is here. I campaigned on change, you voted for change, and I plan to deliver change to our government.”

Also, “…there’s no higher calling than restoring safety and peace in our neighborhoods” and promised to develop a more proactive strategy against violence.”

What has the good mayor been tweeting about since Memorial Day weekend?

“She got one! @LightfootForChi on summer safety tour stops for a quick game of #bags

“Her first act as mayor — signing an executive order limiting aldermanic power — in retrospect looks like what she had promised voters: the initial step of a long march to reform of City Hall.” #BringInTheLight”

I see Mayor Lightfoot retained her ball handling skills. Good to see her out at the season opener of the Chicago Sky. Now let’s get a win!”

“Our family – and many LGBTQ+ Chicagoans – are fortunate to live in a city that supported LGBTQ+ rights long before they were officially legal. That’s why, as mayor, I am so proud to represent all Chicago communities.

NOT ONE WORD about the gun violence throughout her city.

Meanwhile, the violence continues:

8 shot, 1 killed Monday in Chicago
9 shot, 1 killed Tuesday in Chicago
7 shot, 2 killed Wednesday in Chicago

Good luck, Chiraq. You’re going to need it!

Gun control, Chiraq style: 44 shot – 8 fatally – since Friday night

New Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot is going to have her hands full…

When I originally scheduled this post early Sunday afternoon it was 42 shot, 6 fatally. By 9:00 pm the numbers had gone up to 44 shot, 8 fatally. I’m sure the numbers will be higher by Monday morning.

From MyFoxChicago: At least 42 people have been shot in Chicago since Friday evening, the large majority of whom were wounded in a rash of violence during the first 12 hours of the weekend, leaving six people dead by early Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old woman was shot and killed in Fuller Park in the weekend’s latest fatal gun violence incident.

She was outside in the 4900 block of South Princeton Avenue about 4 a.m. when gunfire erupted, Chicago police said. She was struck in the chest and pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Saturday, a man was found with a fatal gunshot wound in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.

Officials found 20-year-old Piotr Rbaliczek in a vehicle about 6:29 a.m. in the 4300 block of North Mozart Street, police said. He had been shot in the neck and was pronounced on the scene. The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.

Earlier, authorities responding to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection alert discovered a homicide at 4:11 a.m. in the 7700 block of South Morgan in the South Side Gresham neighborhood, according to police.

Christopher Walton, 29, man had been shot in the chest and he later died at the University of Chicago Medical Center, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Late Friday, two people were killed in separate Humboldt Park shootings.

This is Chiraq: 32 shot – 5 fatally – by early Sunday evening of Memorial Day Weekend

New Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot is going to have her hands full…

Guess the thugs missed the memo that the women of color now in charge of Chiraq are going to fundamentally transform that sh*thole…

From MyFoxChicago: At least 32 people have been shot — five fatally — in Chicago so far over Memorial Day weekend, including five people shot in a single incident Sunday on the Near West Side. (I scheduled this at 8:30 pm on Sunday night.)

The shooting happened just after 6 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street, Chicago police said. Officers responding to a call of a male firing shots in the area found several men and women suffering from various gunshot wounds.

Two men, 27 and 26 years old, were taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

Two women who were sitting in a black sedan were shot as well, and both are in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. One woman, 31, had been struck in the hip and the other, 25, was hit in the left arm.
A third man, who police think may be a possible offender, is in custody at Stroger Hospital and being treated for a graze wound to his nose.

In addition to the man being treated for the graze wound, detectives are questioning two more people of interest in relation to the shooting, police said. Several weapons were recovered at the scene.

Police believe the incident is related to an earlier shooting Sunday morning in which a man was killed and a woman wounded on the same block of West Hastings, according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Officers responded to a large group disturbance about 1:33 a.m. in the 1300 block of West Hastings Street, police said. They heard reports of gunshots and found a 27-year-old man hit in the chest and unresponsive.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. A 25-year-old woman was hit in the forearm and took herself to the same hospital. Her condition was stabilized, and no one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.

Two people were killed in separate shootings Saturday in Winneconna Parkway and Roseland on the South Side.

Get ready: Women of color will change Chiraq!

Chicago’s new mayor, Lori Lightfoot

I won’t hold my breath. The “Chicago Way” has been around for a looooong time and is not going away anytime soon.

But if you believe the “women of color” now in charge of Chiraq hold the power to make a serious difference in that sh*thole, get to Vegas and place a bet!

The power to make a difference doesn’t depend upon your skin color, it depends upon your policies. Yet when it comes to liberal strongholds, apparently race is all that matters to some elections.

As reported by the Chicago Tribune:

As Lori Lightfoot completed her ascension Monday from a long-shot candidate to Chicago’s first black woman and openly gay mayor, the former federal prosecutor stood in front of thousands at a crowded arena and vowed to fundamentally transform a city government that for months has operated under the cloud of an ongoing federal public corruption investigation.

Moments after placing her hand on the Bible and taking the oath of office, Lightfoot bluntly promised to restore integrity to a city government and City Council that has at times been hobbled by allegations against some of its highest-ranking members. Her fiery speech drew numerous standing ovations from a raucous crowd, but also potentially set the stage for future conflict with aldermen as they prepare to jointly tackle some of the city’s other lingering problems — massive budget shortfalls and endemic violent crime.

“For years, they’ve said Chicago ain’t ready for reform. Well, get ready because reform is here,” Lightfoot said in her inaugural address. “I campaigned on change, you voted for change, and I plan to deliver change to our government. That means restoring trust in our city’s government and finally bringing some real integrity to the way this city works.”

During an approximately half-hour speech, Lightfoot drew from Chicago poet Gwendolyn Brooks and called for citywide unity in addressing public safety, education, financial stability and “integrity” — a reference to Chicago’s infamous corruption.

“Our challenges can only be solved if we face them together,” Lightfoot said. “We cannot fail. We will not fail. We are Chicago.”

Lightfoot also drew a standing ovation when she noted that the election of Melissa Conyears-Ervin as treasurer and Anna Valencia as clerk marks the first time Chicago’s three citywide positions are held by women of color.

“Children who look like me and come from families like mine shouldn’t have to beat the odds to get an education, pursue their passions, or build a family,” Lightfoot said. “Black and brown kids, low-income kids, every kid in this city should grow up knowing they can pursue anything, they can love anyone — that’s my Chicago dream.”

In addition to the daunting challenge of cleaning up City Hall, Lightfoot’s administration will confront chronic gun violence, neighborhood disinvestment and segregation, and a first-year budget shortfall estimated by the outgoing administration at more than $700 million though it’s expected to be even worse.

City cops and firefighters need new contracts, and the Chicago Teachers Union already has threatened a strike in the fall. And the Chicago Police Department will navigate a federal consent decree aimed at overhauling how the city’s historically troubled force operates.

Throughout her speech, Lightfoot promised to confront the city’s toughest subjects and highlighted Chicago’s historical ingenuity.

On crime, Lightfoot said there’s “no higher calling than restoring safety and peace in our neighborhoods” and promised to develop a more proactive strategy against violence.

“People cannot and should not live in neighborhoods that resemble a war zone,” Lightfoot said. “Enough of the shootings. Enough of the guns. Enough of the violence.”
