Shocker, not: Shootings surge in NYC amid disbanding of NYPD’s plainclothes anti-crime unit

As if no one could have predicted this…

From NY Post:

Shootings are surging this week in New York City, with 28 incidents and 38 victims reported since Monday — the day the NYPD disbanded its plainclothes anti-crime unit, The Post learned on Friday.

By comparison, the same week last year there were only 12 shootings for the entire week.

“This is what the politicians wanted — no bail, nobody in Rikers, cops not arresting anyone,” one angry law enforcement source said Friday.

“All those things equal people walking around on the street with guns, shooting each other.”

The shooting spree includes at least five murders, sources told The Post.”

Wait, what? NYC counting people who were presumed to have died of Wuhan virus but never tested positive.

Science – or something…

The New York Times reported last night that the New York City Health Department revised their Wuhan virus deaths to “include people who had never tested positive for the virus but were presumed to have died of it.”

That now puts the Wuhan virus death count in NYC above 10,000.

According to the story, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, the commissioner of the city Health Department, said while these so-called excess deaths were not explicitly linked to the virus, they might not have happened had the outbreak not occurred, in part because it overwhelmed the normal health care system.

“What New Yorkers are interested in, and what the country is interested in, is that we have an accurate and complete count,” Dr. Barbot added. “It’s part of the healing process that we’re going to have to go through.”

She also noted that “more study was needed.”

Nothing says “accurate” in science more than “presumed” and “not explicitly linked.”

Man who shot up NYPD Bronx station just got out of jail for machine gun charge

According to the NY Post, this perp just got out of jail for a machine gun charge, has a homicide on his record, arrest for gun possession, and ambushed two cops the previous night.

Yet Gov. Cuomo claims New York has the “toughest gun control laws in the US.”

Maybe he means toughest for law-abiding citizens…

Progressive utopia of New York City is losing residents at an alarming rate

At the end of 2019 Mayor Bill de Blasio claimed that New York City Is ‘safest big city in America.”

Demorats….delusional as always.

Excerpts from the NY Post report:

New York is in a State of Decline. Despite the nation’s longest economic expansion, the Empire State is actually losing population, an analysis of US Census data released Monday reveals.

The total state population as of mid-2019 was 19,453,561 — a drop of 76,790, or 0.4 percent, from the previous year, according to the study by the Empire Center for Public Policy.

New York was one of only 10 states to suffer a total population decline in 2018-19 — its fourth consecutive annual decrease after five years of growth, and the largest population drop of any state. Only West Virginia, Alaska and Illinois saw their populations fall at a faster percentage clip.

“You’d think with a strong economy, New York wouldn’t be losing population,” said the Empire Center’s E.J. McMahon, author of the report.

He surmised that the high cost of living may be catching up with the Big Apple region, historically a magnet for newcomers that offset population losses in economically struggling upstate.

Not anymore. New York’s population has been stagnant over the past decade, with a modest 75,459 increase in residents since 2010, a growth rate of just 0.4 percent, ranking 46th-lowest out of 50 states.

Stagnant growth has real consequences. The state will likely lose at least one and possibly two congressional seats — and political clout — after the next official decennial census count because of its failure to grow compared to other states.

By comparison, the total estimated US population of 328,239,523 was up about 1.6 million over the 2018 total. Since 2010, the national population has increased by 19,493,985, or 6.3 percent — nearly 16 times the New York rate.”

“Woman” attacks Christian man preaching on NYC subway

From the YouTube video description:

“A shocking video shows a woman brutally beating a 79 year-old man as he was preaching with a Bible on a NYC subway.

CBS News New York reports the violent attack happened last week on a southbound 2-train near Times Square. Passengers recorded the assault using their camera phones.

The woman is heard on the video threatening, “You better get the f*** out my mother******* face or I’ll bust your head open.”

According to police sources who spoke with local New York City media, an unidentified woman confronted the elderly rider as he was preaching and began screaming obscenities at the man.

She then took her spiked stiletto heel and began striking the senior citizen with it, leaving him with a gash on his head.

The 79-year-old man, who is presumably a Christian, was left bleeding as fellow riders sat and watched the suspect attack him. Following the attack, passengers called the police and the senior citizen was rushed to New York University hospital where he received 30 stitches for his wounds.

Instagram user @f.u.n.m.i.k.e, who recorded the vicious assault and injuries suffered by the 79-year-old, noted the older gentleman “didn’t say anything to hurt anyone, he wasn’t even loud, you could barely hear him talk but this is what he got in return.”

I use the term “woman” lightly because if you listen to the video (link on funmike IG posted above), you can clearly hear the deep voice of a man coming from the “woman” attacker.

Just because you wear a wig and high heels doesn’t mean we can spot a man, baby.

NYC bans calling someone an illegal alien out of hate

From NY Post: It’s now against the law in New York City to threaten someone with a call to immigration authorities or refer to them as an “illegal alien” when motivated by hate.

The restrictions — violations of which are punishable by fines of up to $250,000 per offense — are outlined in a 29-page directive released by City Hall’s Commission on Human Rights.

‘Alien’ — used in many laws to refer to a ‘noncitizen’ person — is a term that may carry negative connotations and dehumanize immigrants, marking them as ‘other,’” reads one passage of the memo. “The use of certain language, including ‘illegal alien’ and ‘illegals,’ with the intent to demean, humiliate, or offend a person or persons constitutes discrimination.”

The directive goes on to list several examples of acts and comments that would run afoul of the restrictions, including harassing people over their accents or grasp of English, or wielding the threat of a call to Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a tool of hate.

“A hotel prohibits its housekeepers from speaking Spanish while cleaning because it would ‘offend’ hotel guests or make them uncomfortable,” reads one hypothetical.

“An Indian immigrant family complains to their landlord about mold and cockroaches in their unit. The landlord tells them to ‘just deal with it’ and threatens to call ICE if they file a complaint in housing court,” reads another.

“A store owner tells two friends who are speaking Thai while shopping in his store to ‘speak English’ and ‘go back to your country,’ ” reads a third.

The Commission on Human Rights made clear that the directive is, at least in part, a rebuke of federal crackdowns on illegal immigration.

“In the face of increasingly hostile national rhetoric, we will do everything in our power to make sure our treasured immigrant communities are able to live with dignity and respect, free of harassment and bias,” said Carmelyn Malalis, the agency’s commissioner.

The directive comes months after Mayor Bill de Blasio vocally opposed coordinated raids by ICE on the city’s immigrant communities.

Meanwhile on Thursday, the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs announced a joint $1 million investment with the state to guarantee legal services to immigrants facing imminent deportation.

Onlookers wish death on officers after fatal shootout on Staten Island

Video NSFW. It is also graphic.
This video didn’t accompany the NY Post article below. Click on the link to see their video.

From NY Post: Onlookers pelted police with profanities and death wishes shortly after officers killed a career criminal in wild a shootout that left a cop with a bullet in her hand.

“Suck my d–k!” bellowed one man at a police cordon for about two consecutive minutes along the Clifton street, where the officer was struck on the left hand around 8:45 a.m. “Everybody behind that line can suck my d–k!”

Much of the invective came from a group of 14 people restricted to the driveway of one Prince Street home while cops painstakingly processed the scene where the Finest was wounded and gunman Gregory Edwards was shot dead.

Edwards — a 39-year-old convicted felon with 16 arrests, including three for weapons possession — was approached by cops as a suspect in a domestic assault, and responded by trying to flee, according to authorities.

Cops zapped Edwards with a Taser, but it didn’t take, and he began his fatal exchange of fire with the officers, sending police racing to the scene — though they were hardly welcome.

“Get the f–k out of here!” screamed one person, amid what was still a very active investigation of the shoot-out.

“All of y’all can die!” shouted another at cops from the 120th Precinct — the command where Eric Garner died in a fatal 2014 struggle with police, sparking a political powder keg. “I hope that happens.”

Department insiders said that the vulgar display speaks to a growing hatred of cops on city streets.

“You hear this more and more,” said one police source. “The public just has no respect for cops. All they want to do is fight cops. It never used to be that way.”

A second source charged that the public has taken their cue from City Hall, which has frequently been at odds with the NYPD under Mayor Bill de Blasio.

NYPD turn their backs on de Blasio/NY Post photo

“It all started with de Blasio. He’s the one to blame for the way the public treats cops,” said the insider, pointing to the 2014 ambush slayings of Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos in Brooklyn.

“I’m glad I’m near the end of my service,” said the source, who is close to retiring from the department. “And I’m also glad my son decided not to become a cop.”

A third source said that the scene should hardly shock the senses. “Are you surprised?” asked the source. “Somebody’s shooting at a police officer and nobody cares. They’re more concerned about the perp than the cop who’s there to protect them. You call the police to do a job, a cop gets shot, but they’re upset that a guy who was shooting a cop is dead.”

Illegal aliens now eligible for NYC’s affordable housing lotteries

According to the Coalition for the Homeless, “homelessness in New York City has reached the highest levels since the Great Depression.”

From their stats: “In June 2019, there were 60,849 homeless people, including 14,589 homeless families with 21,295 homeless children, sleeping each night in the New York City municipal shelter system. Families make up nearly three-quarters of the homeless shelter population.”

Another demorat-run city putting the needs of illegal aliens above those of their own U.S. citizens.

From NY Post: Illegal immigrants aliens will be able to jump into New York City’s highly competitive lotteries for affordable housing as part of broader rules changes announced by City Hall on Wednesday meant to expand eligibility.

The new rules will allow applicants to provide proof they pay their rent on time instead of submitting for a formal credit check, which required prospective tenants to put down their Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers — documents only provided to citizens and naturalized citizens.

“For too long, families without access to credit have faced barriers to the affordable housing they need,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio in a statement. “By allowing New Yorkers to submit rental history instead of credit checks, we are creating a fairer system for all New Yorkers.”

Under the new rules, tenants can bypass the credit check requirement by providing evidence they are current on a year’s worth of rent.

Officials defended the rule change by claiming that credit check requirements often adversely impact African American and Latino applicants — but acknowledged the change also would allow undocumented immigrants illegal aliens to apply.

“These new changes are a step towards promoting greater racial equity in our housing market and greater access to affordable housing, regardless of immigration status,” said Bitta Mostofi, who runs the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs.

A top de Blasio critic on the City Council quickly slammed the idea. “It’s just the latest idiotic idea to come out of this administration,” said Councilman Eric Ulrich (R-Queens). “The mayor is setting up people to fail and is doing a disservice to New Yorkers who desperately need affordable housing.”

Additionally, the city’s housing agencies are dropping the charges for a credit check to $20 to comply with the state’s new rent laws. And City Hall is loosening the rules on household size to allow more people to cram into smaller apartments.

“By addressing the challenges many low-income New Yorkers face in the rental application process, we are creating more options for those in need of an affordable home,” said Eric Enderlin, president of the city’s Housing Development Corp.
