Shocker, not: Macron AWOL as violence, protests continue in Paris

From Fox News: As France braces for another round of violent protests this weekend in Paris and the rest of the country, embattled French President Emmanuel Macron is a missing man as his government tries to curb the chaos caused in part by his unpopular plan to hike gas taxes.

Macron swept into power in 2017, having emerged out of obscurity less than a year earlier. Espousing his own brand of centrism, he has presented himself on the world stage as a spokesman for multilateralism and internationalism against a nationalist wave moving through Europe.

While he has regularly been seen on world stages, including the United Nations and the U.S. Congress, he has been conspicuous by his absence this week, choosing to keep away from the limelight as his government attempts to deal with the issues being protested by the “yellow jacket” protesters who have protested and even rioted in cities over France in recent weeks.

Macron had initially stood firm on the hikes, saying they were necessary to combat climate change and France’s reliance on oil. But on Wednesday, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced that the government was scrapping the tax hike altogether. A government spokesman also suggested on French radio that a wealth tax that Macron ended last year could be re-introduced.

The French government has said that 89,000 additional police officers and law enforcement personnel — with 8,000 in Paris — had been mobilized ahead of Saturday to head off planned protests, which show no sign of slowing down, despite the damage control by the government.

But as ministers scramble, Macron himself has been neither seen nor heard, leading to criticism from his political opponents. Marine Le Pen, Macron’s right-wing 2017 presidential election rival, urged Macron on Wednesday to meet with the protesters before Saturday.

“Do not hide at the Elysee, do not ask others to do what the French expect of you, listen to them, hear them before Saturday,” she told reporters.

“Is Macron still in Argentina? He must surely have an opinion,” left-wing 2017 presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon tweeted, a reference to Macron’s recent visit to the G20 summit in Buenos Aires.

According to Reuters, Macron intends to address the nation early next week. The Associated Press reported Friday that Macron has spent the week holding closed-door meetings in the Elysee Palace, with his office announcing that he would not speak before Saturday’s protests.

Globalist tax-evader Emmanuel Macron voted French president in landslide

Two weeks ago, a French reader of FOTM threw a big stink at my post “Insane: 16% of French with favorable view of ISIS” and readers’ comments, bitching that we are being unfair to all those brave French people who are buckling the trend.
I said that if and when the French people vote nationalist Marine Le Pen as president, I’d be the first to congratulate them.

Alas, that is not to be.

Despite the fact that “pro-European centrist” globalist Emmanuel Macron is a tax evader, thanks to Alt-Rightists on 4chan who obtained and published his damning tax evasion emails two nights ago, Macron won France’s presidential election today in a landslide. (See “French government doesn’t want its people to see presidential candidate Macron’s tax-evasion emails“)

With 65% of the votes, former Rothschild & Cie Banque investment banker Macron, 39, “resoundingly” defeated rival Le Pen (who received 35% of the votes) to be the country’s youngest ever president.
Many French opted not to vote in today’s election, which has the lowest voter-turnout (65.3%) in presidential elections since 1974.

Macron was an unknown less than three years ago when, in 2014, he was plucked from obscurity by socialist President François Hollande and named Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs. Now, the inexperienced 39-year-old without a political party is poised to become one of Europe’s most powerful leaders.

After Britain’s Brexit vote last year to leave the EU and Donald Trump’s victory in the US, the French election had been widely watched, particularly in Brussels and Berlin, as a test of how high a tide of anti-globalization “right-wing nationalism” would rise. (Do take note that it is the right who are nationalists, which means the left really don’t give a hoot for the interests and well being of their supposed nation/country.)

Le Pen, 48, had portrayed the election as a contest between her patriotic vision of strong borders and French national identity, against Macron, the globalists’ candidate, who favors immigration, open trade, and “shared sovereignty” (an oxymoron!).

In the first round of the presidential election on April 23, Macron had topped the vote with 24.01%, followed by Le Pen with 21.30%, in a crowded field of 11 candidates.

Macron was favored among wealthier, better educated citizens in cities, while Le Pen drew support in the countryside and in poverty-hit areas in the south and rustbelt northeast.

Insane: 16% of French with favorable view of ISIS

As the French prepare to vote for a new President this weekend, the country is the throes of another Islamic terrorist attack.
On the night of April 20, 2017, two French policemen were shot dead and others wounded on Paris’ famed Champs-Élysées boulevard. The assailant, 39-year-old French national Abu Yousif al-Belgiki, was shot dead by police. The Islamic State or ISIS quickly claimed responsibility for the shooting. (Reuters)

France has lived under a state of emergency since 2015 and has suffered a spate of Islamist militant attacks mostly perpetrated by young Muslim males who grew up in France and Belgium.
Despite that, there is no assurance that French nationalist Marine Le Pen will win the upcoming presidential election. Among the reasons is the fact that, incredibly, a 2014 survey of Europeans’ opinion of ISIS found that the French viewed ISIS more favorably than Brits or Germans. As many as 16% of the French had a positive view of ISIS — those radical Muslims who torture and behead people.
The survey was conducted by ICM for Russian news agency Rossiya Segodnya. ICM interviewed 3,007 respondents in Britain (1,000), France (1,006) and Germany (1,001) by telephone, July 11-21, 2014. Here are the poll’s findings:
France:

  • 16% of all French citizens had a positive opinion of ISIS.
  • 27% of ages 18-24 viewed ISIS favorably.

Britain:

  • 7% of all Brits had a positive opinion of ISIS.
  • 4% of  ages 18-24, 6% of ages 24-35, and 11% of ages 35-44 viewed ISIS favorably.

Germany:

  • 3% to 4% of all age groups had a positive opinion of ISIS.

In 2017, France has an estimated population of nearly 67 million, with at least 5-6 million Muslims. Though historically Roman Catholic, France has become de-Christianized. A study by political scientist Pierre Bréchon in 2009 concluded that the proportion of Catholics had fallen to 42% of the population, while the number of atheists and agnostics had risen to 50%. According to a survey in January 2007, only 5% of the French population attended church regularly; among those who identified as Catholic, only 10% attended church services regularly. (Wikipedia)
The onslaught of Muslim “refugees” and “migrants” have transformed parts of Paris into a dump.

Muslim “human rights activist” to Le Pen: “I am going to slit your throat Muslim-style”

marine-le-pen-death-threat-blogger-mehdi-meklat-threatened-kill-770823
It was just words of his “fictional character.” Um, yeah, riiiiiiiight.
From Express UK: For years, Mehdi Meklat, a 24-year-old human rights activist and former Bondy Blog journalist – who, until last week, was hailed as one of France’s rising media stars – published “sickening” tweets under the pseudonym ‘Marcelin Deschamps’, a “provocative” but “fictional” character who, according to the young writer, “does not reflect his personal beliefs, values and morals”.
On Twitter, Mr. Meklat – writing as Marcelin Deschamps – threatened to kill Marine Le Pen. He wrote: “I am going to slit your throat Muslim-style.”
The journalist is also guilty of apologising terrorism and anti-Semitism: hiding behind his ‘fictional’ character, he praised Islamic terrorist Mohammed Merah, said that he “really missed Osama bin Laden” and that we should “bring back Hitler”.
He also said that he wanted to “rape” former Charlie Hebdo editor-in-chief, Charb – one of the victims of the January 2015 terrorist attacks – with a “Laguiole knife”.
On Saturday, Mr. Meklat cleaned his Twitter account – he went from 50,000 to 503 tweets – and issued a public apology, branding his hateful tweets as “obsolete” and “irrelevant”.
He tweeted: “I’m sorry if some of you were shocked by my tweets. They are obsolete… The words of my fictional character do not reflect my own personal thoughts and beliefs, quite the opposite. Via Marcelin Deschamps, a provocative character, I was trying to encourage critical thinking.”
His apology, however, has largely fallen on deaf ears.
On Sunday, Marion Marechal Le Pen, Mrs. Le Pen’s niece, tweeted: “Praising Merah, threats, homophobia, hate and anti-Semitism. Why is the press protecting @mehdi_meklat?”
Members of the Printemps républicain, a left-wing organisation explicitly formed to promote and protect secularism in France, bitterly condemned Mr. Meklat’s tweets in a press release and said that, had he been a member of France’s far-right, he would have been excoriated and denounced by the press “a very long time ago”.
They wrote: “For years, Mr. Meklat published racist, sexist and hate-filled tweets. And yet, editors and newspapers continued to hire and support him. If a far-right journalist had tweeted what Mr. Meklat tweeted, he would have been lynched by the press and would probably have ended up in court.”
