Liberal utopia: Homeless given free pass to terrorize citizens

The streets of San Francisco…

I’ve blogged about how terrible progressive-run cities have become due to the crimes perpetrated by the homeless. The homeless are free to poop where ever they want, do drugs in the open (and in shelters), drink on the streets and generally continue their dangerous activities with no consequences. Heck, their bad behaviors are even encouraged by the bureaucrats. See the following posts:

A radio producer for KTTH in Washington, Daron Casey, recently visited San Francisco and tells a story of how he was immediately attacked by a homeless person.

Within an hour of arriving on the streets of San Francisco Daron was assaulted. He was hit by a homeless man in the stomach which nearly knocked him over. He wasn’t hurt too badly at all yet it could have been worse had the homeless man had a knife or other weapon on him. Daron was too scared to take a picture of the homeless man.

The event spooked Daron enough that he did not want to walk around the city.

Daron went on to describe the city as “third world country” within a city.

Streets were filled with tents and garbage and homeless people were openly committing crimes. There were no police around to stop any criminal activities.

Read Daron’s whole story about the event here.

If you’re planning a trip any time soon to San Francisco, you’ve been warned!

How bad is the homeless situation in LA County? The government is willing to pay people to put "homeless units" in their backyards

possibly go wrong
According to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, in 2017 there were 57,794 people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County. That was a 23% increase compared with the 2016 homeless count (46,874 homeless in 2016).
Local government agencies are trying to address the situation from several angles: placing social workers on subways(outreach to homeless riders), taxpayer money from two ballot measures(which still leaves an estimated $73-million annual shortfall in funding for the county’s comprehensive homelessness program), motel conversion and steamlining the approval process for homeless projects, among other things.
Now the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is considering paying property owners to put “units” for homeless people in their backyards. Seriously.
Gale Holland reports for the LA Times: “The county Board of Supervisors approved a $550,000 pilot program to build a handful of small backyard houses, or upgrade illegally converted garages, for homeowners who agree to host a homeless person or family. Then in February, Bloomberg Philanthropies awarded L.A. a $100,000 Mayor’s Challenge grant to study the feasibility of backyard homeless units within the city limits.
Rents under the county’s pilot program would be covered by low-income vouchers, with tenants contributing 30% of their incomes. The county is also sponsoring a design competition, streamlining permits and providing technical aid and financing options.”
Read the whole LA Times article here.
The appeal of backyard units is that they don’t “compromise the character” of neighborhoods, per the mayor’s office. The units would have plumbing and cooking facilities.
Apparently homeowners would be incentivized through tax payer dollars and feel like they are offering solutions to the homeless problem. “We were overwhelmed with the interest,” said Larry Newman, manager in the Economic and Housing Development Division of the county’s Community Development Commission.
I can only assume that any homeowner who does this will face an increase in their insurance premiums: Your liability coverage would need to increase if you participated in this program.
Also, I have a few other questions:

  • Who will pay for the background check of the homeowner’s new tenant(s)?
  • Will the homeowner be allowed to write off their “rental” expenses on their tax returns?
  • Will the increase in one’s home value (additional square footage/livable area by a new unit on the property) increase their property taxes?
  • Will the homeowner be personally responsible for any purposefully-inflicted injury that a homeless “tenant” may commit while on their property?
  • How many people on the county Board of Supervisors are going to put homeless units in their backyards?

Homeless people defecating on LA streets fuels horror hepatitis outbreak

skid_row
Great job demorats!
From Fox News: An outbreak of hepatitis A is spreading through Los Angeles County after leaping from a large homeless contingent in San Diego, threatening thousands of people and fueling criticism that local officials have not done enough to contain the deadly liver disease.
Hundreds of cases have turned up in southern California as well as Michigan — but conditions in Los Angeles, where roughly 50,000 people live on the streets, have prompted deeper concerns.
Reports compiled by volunteer organizations have faulted city officials for not providing enough accessible toilets as the homeless population sharply increased by 23 percent this year.
In a prescient warning, a June 2017 report by a collection of nonprofits called the LA Central Providers Collaborative sounded the alarm about crowding and living conditions on Skid Row, citing the city’s own predictions about the increased risk for hepatitis A and other diseases.
“One would think that Los Angeles, one of the greatest cities in the world, would exceed these minimal standards. However, this Audit finds that in Skid Row, Los Angeles fails to meet even the standards for a refugee camp,” the report said. “During overnight hours, there are only nine public toilets available for 1,777 unsheltered homeless people on Skid Row, and these toilets are largely inaccessible.”
The report noted that United Nations’ refugee camp standards are one toilet for every 20 people.
Fast-forward to September, and the county declared an outbreak affecting homeless people and illicit drug users. The disease also is rising among gay and bisexual men, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health noted in a Nov. 2 advisory.
Los Angeles currently has 31 hepatitis cases – 15 among the homeless and 16 gay men.
Toilet access is a chief concern, as the disease can be contracted by ingesting or touching anything contaminated with infected feces. Homeless individuals without bathroom access defecating on the streets spreads the disease.
Seventeen miles away is the community of Venice, a trendy beachside haven made famous by a young Arnold Schwarzenegger who once lifted weights in a makeshift gym set up along a boardwalk. The homeless liked the area, too, and the population has grown to about 1,000. The area has nine toilet stalls, none which are open at night.
Los Angeles County, meanwhile, has 42,828 homeless living on the streets, which swells to more than 50,000 during the day when many leave overnight shelters. Most are within the city of Los Angeles, which has a total of 2,800 toilets and 800 urinals located in parks that are open during daylight hours.

Amid new groping allegations and a past "encounter," CA Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra (D) will not run for re-election

raul bocanegra
Demorats knew of Bocanegra’s behavior in 2009 and they supported him in the 2016 election. Guess demorats are only “disturbed” about his behaviors when more than one victim comes forward.
From Sacramento Bee: Assemblyman Raul Bocanegra, a Los Angeles Democrat accused of groping a woman in 2009 when he was a legislative staff member, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election next year.
The announcement came just hours before the Los Angeles Times reported allegations involving Bocanegra and six other women. If the allegations are true, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon said, he will move that Bocanegra be expelled from the Assembly.
“These allegations are extremely disturbing, especially since they come after Mr. Bocanegra had previously been investigated and disciplined* as a staff member and agreed to stop any harassing or abusive behavior,” Rendon, D-Paramount, said in a statement. “The decision to deny constituents the representation of their elected official can be a difficult one, but make no mistake: If the investigation affirms the allegations, I will move to immediately expel Mr. Bocanegra from the Assembly.”
*From Wikipedia: In 2009 Bocanegra worked as a staff member for then Assemblymember Felipe Fuentes. In October of 2017, Elise Flynn Gyore, who worked as a staffer for a state senator at the time, alleged that Bocanegra “put his hands into her blouse” outside of a bathroom at a night club in Sacramento. Flynn Gyore did not know Bocanegra at the time. The next day she reported the incident to the Senate sergeant who conducted an investigation which concluded that it was “more likely than not that Mr. Bocanegra engaged in [that] behavior that night”. In October 2017, Flynn Gyore made her allegation public, to which Bocanegra issued a public apology saying that he was “deeply regretful about putting someone in this position”, and that he wanted “to apologize most sincerely.”
In a message posted to Facebook, Bocanegra said he would immediately resign from his leadership position as majority whip and suspend his campaign for the San Fernando Valley seat.
“As you may know, news stories were reported a few weeks ago about a regrettable encounter when I was a legislative staffer in 2009. It was a moment that I truly regret, that I am very sorry for, and for which I have accepted responsibility for my actions,” Bocanegra wrote. “These news reports have since fueled persistent rumors and speculation, and I do not believe that this is in the best interest of my constituents to continue to serve next term.”
“I have sought counsel from community members and constituents,” he continued. “After much discussion and reflection, the most prudent decision to avoid another costly special election in Los Angeles and ensure our community is not left without any representation in the State Assembly would be for me to resign at the end of the legislative session. I will spend this time focusing my energy on serving my constituents.”
His decision comes more than three weeks after longtime Capitol staff member Elise Flynn Gyore spoke publicly, including to The Bee, about an after-hours event in 2009 in which Bocanegra, then a chief of staff, stalked her around a downtown Sacramento nightclub and grabbed her underneath her clothes.
The Assembly investigated Bocanegra at the time and ordered him to stay away from Gyore. She said she continues to deal with what she feels was an inadequate response by the Legislature.
In recent weeks, the Los Angeles Daily News and a handful of Bocanegra’s constituents have called on him to resign, including former Assemblywoman Patty Lopez, a fellow Democrat who defeated Bocanegra in a stunning upset in 2014 and then lost to him again last November.
After his announcement Monday, Assemblywoman Cristina Garcia, D-Bell Gardens, demanded that Bocanegra resign immediately. “@AsmBocanegra you are not the victim, you are the perpetrator who’s victimized untold #’s of women & girls & brought shame to the people you purported to represent,” she wrote on Twitter. “Don’t wait till 2018. Leave now. #WeSaidEnough #MeToo #IBelieveYou”

ICE arrests nearly 450 illegal immigrants in sanctuary city raids

Number should be much higher but it’s a good start. Bonus: it upsets libtards.
From Fox News: As part of a massive illegal immigration sweep, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Thursday that officials this week arrested nearly 500 illegal immigrants living in sanctuary cities across the country.
The raid, referred to as “Operation ‘Safe City’” in a news release, spanned four days in cities through the U.S., and ended Wednesday.
Illegal immigrants with criminal charges or known gang-affiliations were targeted, the release said, noting that recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program were not.
In Philadelphia, 107 illegal immigrants were arrested, while 101 were arrested in Los Angeles and 45 people were arrested in New York.
The release noted that 18 of the 498 people arrested were gang members or have gang affiliations.
A Mexican illegal immigrant in Los Angeles who was arrested is a member of the Colonia Chiques gang, a group dubbed one of the “largest and deadliest gangs” in southern California’s Ventura County by the FBI.
That immigrant, who was found with a handgun, allegedly rammed a number of law enforcement vehicles in an attempt to escape from authorities.
Sanctuary cities — or cities that don’t cooperate with federal immigration policy — have become a heated topic as the Trump administration has pushed for a stronger crackdown on illegal immigration.
Even though ICE has said arrests of illegal immigrants are up 43 percent since this time last year, deportation numbers are down, according to The Washington Post.

John Legend posts casting call for "out of shape" Trump supporters

john legend

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen: Living with TDS

Apparently “body-shaming” is A-OK when you have Trump Derangement Syndrome and double standards.
And another celebrity creating a product in response to their butt hurt over Trump? How original…
From Daily Mail: John Legend posted a casting call for actors who look like Trump supporters. According to a listing on Casting Networks in LA, the musician’s newest video requires eight white men and women, 30-65 years old, who are ‘preferably out of shape.’
The actors will be playing protesters on a set of a political rally with a Black Lives Matter group playing the opposition. The casting call for the Black Lives Matter protesters lists the requirements as eight black men and women ages 18-35.
And there is an ad for 10 young and blonde white males ages 18-35 with ‘very short hair or short on sides, long on top.’
Legend, 38, is not afraid to speak his mind when it comes to politics, so it is no surprise he is incorporating his opinions into his music videos. In an interview with Guardian on Sunday, the Beauty And The Beast singer said: ‘I think Trump is an embarrassment to the country.’
The singer – married to supermodel Chrissy Teigen who share one-year-old daughter Luna – pulled no punches.
‘When he is criticising something, he is usually projecting. So, he calls people liars because he is a liar. He talks about people being violent because he encourages violence,’ he continued.
Legend’s video is also on the hunt for 2 females — one white and one Hispanic — to share a kiss in the video with the protest going on.   The casting sheet read: ‘We want to show that there is no segregation in love. But just two human beings of any race or color.’
The shoot is set for Friday.

Tattoo artist Kat Von D's company accused of disqualifying Kansas make-up artist from contest over pro-Trump Views

Kat Von D: Intolerance on display

And yet again, liberals prove just how tolerant they are.
From Fox News: A Kansas woman claims she won a contest sponsored by a company created by the reality TV star Kat Von D — but later was disqualified over a post on her Instagram account which supported then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Makeup artist Gypsy Freeman, of Wichita, took screenshots which show she won the national Saint + Sinner Contest sponsored by Kat Von D Beauty in June, according to the Wichita Eagle.
“It’s definitely bigotry – it’s everything that they’re calling us, they’re doing,” Freeman told the newspaper. “It’s a huge case of hypocrisy.”
Freeman won with an image of an angelic figure beside a girl in an all-black outfit and thick mascara. The winner and a guest were supposed was supposed to be flown to a makeup line launch party in Los Angeles, according to the report.
Instagram users later reportedly discovered Freeman’s pro-Trump post from Election Day in November.
Freeman claims that Von D later messaged her, saying she’d “drawn a personal line in the sand between myself and anyone who supports that man.”
She also says that the woman who photographed Freeman’s entry was invited in her stead and went to the party, according to the Eagle.
Freeman said it was “really unfortunate” politics were brought into the competition “where I never brought it into the art contest.”
Sunday messages seeking comment from Kat Von D Beauty’s parent company Kendo Holdings were not immediately returned.

Guess where George Clooney is moving his family to protect them?

clooney
Back in February 2016 George Clooney and his wife Amal met with Angela Merkel “to discuss the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and the political reaction to it in Europe and elsewhere.”
After the meeting, George Clooney declared to the world that he and Amal fully support Merkel’s open-door policy towards “refugees,” telling reporters: “I absolutely agree with her”.
In July that same year, a massive migrant camp formed near Clooney’s Italian mansion.
It’s odd that a couple who wholly supported the migrant invasion are now fleeing Europe for the safety of the good ol’ USA…
From Daily Mail: He’s made a home for his family in their stunning £20 million property in Sonning-On-Thames, Berkshire. Yet George Clooney is said to be considering relocating from the English countryside to Los Angeles as he fears for the safety of wife Amal and their newborn twins.
Following the birth of Ella and Alexander last month, the doting new dad, 56, has reportedly been increasingly worried about the level of security in their homes, Life&Style reports.
A source told the site that George had received threats in the past, whilst he was concerned that his wife’s work as an international human rights lawyer could make her a target. ‘He doesn’t feel like Amal and the twins are safe living in the English countryside,’ the insider explained. ‘As soon as Amal found out she was pregnant, he hired former Secret Service agents to assess all his properties and make recommendations for improvement.’
They claimed the star’s mansion in Studio City, California was the most secure, as they added: ‘He’s waited so long for this family, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe.’
MailOnline have contacted George’s representatives for comment.
George wed Amal, 39, in 2014, and bought their sprawling £7.5 million home in the English countryside later that year. They have reportedly spent an additional £12.5 million on the sprawling estate, including building a nanny’s quarters.
As well as their English manor and Studio City pad, the pair also own two villas in Laglio, Italy and a holiday home in the Mexican beach location of Cabo.

Sacramento may start paying for legal defense of illegal aliens

darrell steinberg

Mayor Steinberg: Robbing legal taxpayers to benefit illegal aliens

Just following in the footsteps of their fellow proggies in liberal King County. Suck it, taxpayers!
From Sacramento Bee: Sacramento leaders are poised to spend up to $300,000 to boost the city’s status as a sanctuary for undocumented immigrants, even as the federal government threatens to crack down on jurisdictions providing such immigrant protections.
The City Council will vote Thursday on a proposal to invest in an education and legal defense network for undocumented immigrants illegal aliens, with the money coming out of a general fund that supports most core city services. The plan under consideration would also strengthen Sacramento’s status as a sanctuary city by turning into law privacy policies that prohibit city employees – including police – from making inquiries into immigration status.
“It is a modest investment, but it is a very important investment,” said Mayor Darrell Steinberg. “It says very clearly to our community, especially those who are affected by these unconstitutional orders, that ‘we are going to stand with you.’ We have to back up our values with real action to help people who feel at risk and who may be actually at risk.”
Both the sanctuary city ordinance and legal defense fund were proposed by a Safe Haven Task Force formed at City Hall in February. The task force was put in place in response to executive orders by President Donald Trump calling for increased enforcement of federal immigration laws.
Councilman Eric Guerra, who headed the task force, said turning the city’s sanctuary stance from policy into law would put “more teeth” in its position and “makes it relevant to the context we see today, the scapegoating of immigrants.”
About 49,000 Sacramento residents are not citizens, including roughly 4,100 children, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s about 10 percent of the city’s residents. Some of them are here legally, some are not – the census bureau does not ask about legal status.
The new money would help fund what is being called the Sacramento Family Unity, Educations and Legal Network for Immigrants, or FUEL, a collection of local immigration attorneys, nonprofits and law schools specializing in immigration law.
The group will hire up to two attorneys to provide legal assistance to an estimated 750 families each year and conduct “Know Your Rights” information sessions in schools, churches and other community gathering places for hundreds more. The network will likely seek grants from other nonprofit agencies to expand its financial capacity.
Attorneys will be tasked with representing immigrants facing deportation and helping undocumented parents “prepare for the worst” by creating guardianships for children and protections for homes and other assets should they be deported, said Guerra.
Guerra said Sacramento hasn’t yet seen federal immigration raids, but “the fear is intense” in immigrant communities and “what we don’t want is families to be separated because that leads to bigger social issues.”
Blake Nordahl, a supervising attorney in the immigration clinic at the McGeorge School of Law, said the network will expand the local roster of attorneys trained in immigration law by working with lawyers whose expertise is in other fields.
“We have a large immigrant population in Sacramento, so hopefully this is just the beginning of being able to work together,” said Nordahl, whose clinic is part of the city-funded network. “I think there’s a real commitment to showing respect to our neighbors and recognizing that Sacramento is based on a city of immigrants and we’re going to take care of our neighbors.”
Sacramento’s vote would follow other California governments that have spent public money to aid undocumented immigrants.
Santa Clara County in January voted to spend $1.5 million over two years to help defend undocumented immigrants illegal aliens facing deportation. San Francisco recently set aside $200,000 for legal aid, and Oakland has allocated $300,000 for a similar effort. A similar public-private fund that could hold up to $10 million has also been proposed for Los Angeles city and county.

160 arrested across southern California in immigration crackdown: 150 had criminal histories

liberals-and-illegal-aliens
And yet libtards are still upset with deporting illegal criminal aliens.
From CBS Los Angeles: Federal immigration officials say 160 people were arrested across the Southland over the past week during a crackdown targeting “criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and immigration fugitives.”
The arrests took place in six counties during what U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials described as a “five-day targeted enforcement operation” that began Monday and wrapped up around noon Friday.
Of the 160 arrested, about 150 had criminal histories, while five more had either been previously deported or had “final orders of removal”. Many of those arrested had prior felony convictions for “serious or violent offenses” including child sex crimes and assault.
The arrestees – which were 95 percent male – included nationals from a dozen countries, according to ICE.
Immigration advocates said they fielded calls Thursday from immigrants and lawyers reporting raids at homes and businesses in the greater Los Angeles area, including Van Nuys, Downey, Oxnard, San Bernardino, and other cities.
Lawyer Karla Navarrete said Friday agents looking for one man arrested another who is in the country illegally but has no criminal record. Navarrete says she sought to stop the man’s deportation and was told by ICE that things had changed. She says another lawyer filed federal court papers to halt it.
Multiple reports on social media suggested similar raids were conducted in Atlanta, Austin, and other U.S. cities, but there was no immediate confirmation from federal officials.
A report released Thursday showed nearly one in five immigrants in the U.S. illegally live in either the Los Angeles or New York City metropolitan areas. The report released by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center estimates more than 2 million immigrants in the country illegally lived in the two areas in 2014.
