Texas first state to opt out of federal refugee resettlement program

On September 26, 2019, President Trump signed Executive Order 13888 requiring federal refugee resettlement agencies to get written consent from state and local officials in any jurisdiction where they want to resettle refugees beyond June 2020. As the Executive Order on Enhancing State and Local Involvement in Refugee Resettlement stipulates:

In resettling refugees into American communities, it is the policy of the United States to cooperate and consult with State and local governments, to take into account the preferences of State governments, and to provide a pathway for refugees to become self-sufficient.

Not only must the Federal Government consult with State and local governments, they must be “be respectful of those communities that may not be able to accommodate refugee resettlement” because State and local governments are best positioned to know the resources and capacities they may or may not have available to devote to sustainable resettlement.

Trump’s executive order also cut the number of refugees allowed into the country for the 2020 fiscal year to a historic low of 18,000. About 30,000 refugees were resettled in the U.S. during the previous fiscal year.

Texas has large refugee populations in several of its cities and has long been a leader in settling refugees, taking in more than any other state during the 2018 governmental fiscal year, according to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Since the 2002 fiscal year, Texas has resettled an estimated 88,300 refugees, second only to California, according to the Pew Research Center.

Danielle Wallace reports for Fox News that yesterday, Texas became the first state to opt out of the federal refugee resettlement program — a move made possible by Trump’s executive order.

In a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Texas’ Republican Gov. Greg Abbott says Texas “has carried more than its share” in refugee resettlement. Since FY 2010, Texas has taken in more refugees than any other state — about 10% of all refugees resettled in the United States. But in accepting and resettling those refugees, Texas has had no help from the federal government, but “has been left by Congress to deal with disproportionate migration issues resulting from a broken federal immigration system.”

In addition, Abbott pointed out that, according to federal numbers, about 100,000 migrants have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border into Texas since May 2018, who included migrants from China, Iran, Kenya, Russia and Tonga.

Citing “a responsibility to dedicate available resources to those who are already here,” including refugees, migrants, the homeless, and “all Texans,” Abbott says Texas “cannot consent to initial refugee resettlement for FY 2020.” But Texas’ opting out of the initial refugee resettlement program for the 2020 fiscal year does not deny any refugee access to the U.S., nor does it prevent any refugee from later coming to Texas after initially settling in another state.

However, the Democrat mayors of major Texas metropolitan areas, including San Antonio, Dallas and Houston, sent the federal government letters saying they remain willing to welcome refugees despite the state action. As an example, Democrat mayor of Houston Sylvester Turner said in a statement: “Regardless of where someone is from, who they are or what they believe, there is a home for them in Houston. Our welcoming spirit has led to our city becoming the national leader in refugee resettlement.”

Governors in 42 other states have said they will consent to allowing in more refugees, according to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, which works with local agencies throughout the U.S. to resettle refugees. The governors not yet on the record are all Republicans — from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina and Wyoming.

Abbott’s letter enraged Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali immigrant, who earlier in the week had decried a similar move by county-level officials in her home state of Minnesota that was also facilitated by Trump’s executive order. Omar tweeted the Statue of Liberty’s “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,” and vowed “We shall overcome!”.

Omar Condemns “Crippling” Iranian Sanctions

Apologies for another post about this anti-American womyn…

Hard to believe Omar has PTSD after watching her in my previous post with her giggling at such a serious event. LIAR.

Omar doesn’t have PTSD. What her and her Iran-supporting demorats have is TDS.

Demorats: When they got nothing to run on, push the “hate”

Demorats are such miserable creatures.

Imagine tweeting this out before Christmas:

Mike Larsen is running against Jim Jordan in Ohio’s 4th Congressional District. Apparently he and Omar believe a platform of hate is the best message to win over people.

Besides the hate they are promoting, Larsen claims to “actually give a sh*t about the people of Ohio.”

Must suck to go through life with such a joyless heart.

Shocker, not: Ilham Omar funneled $150,000 to alleged lover’s consulting group

Mynett and Omar

Not holding my breath for any investigation.

From NY Post: Rep. Ilhan Omar paid another $150,000 to Tim Mynett’s political consulting group in the three months after The Post first revealed allegations the pair were romantically involved, records show.

The 37-year-old Minnesota congresswoman’s campaign has funneled $146,712.63 to Mynett’s E Street Group since The Post in August reported allegations she was having an affair with her paid consultant, records show.

The latest payments to Mynett’s group were for digital advertising, fundraising consulting and video production.

When news of the alleged affair broke, Omar had already paid $223,000 through her campaign since 2018 for fundraising consulting, internet advertising, digital communications, and travel expenses to the E Street Group — taking the latest total to $370,000.

But the federal agency charged with probing the campaign finance complaint against Omar is powerless to act because it doesn’t have enough commissioners on the bench to investigate.

“This is something every American should be very concerned about,” said Craig Holman, government affairs lobbyist at the watchdog group Public Citizen. “We have no election cop on the beat. The Federal Election Commission essentially closed its doors so everyone knows they can pretty much do whatever they want to do and that’s the status of our political system today.

Both Omar and Mynett have denied the allegations in Beth Mynett’s divorce papers that the consultant dumped his wife in April because he was having an affair with the Somali-born US representative.

In October, Omar filed for divorce from her husband Ahmed Hirsi amid the affair allegations — claiming the marriage was “irretrievable.” The split was finalized on Nov. 5.

The congresswoman’s office and the E Street Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.

Conservative watchdog the National Legal and Policy Center filed a complaint against Omar with the Federal Election Commission in the wake of the bombshell report — seeking a probe into whether the Democrat used campaign funds to rendezvous with her alleged lover.

But because the FEC has only three of six commissioner slots filled and needs at least four members to vote on complaints — their hands are tied.

“It doesn’t surprise me at all,” Holman said of the continued payments from Omar to her alleged love interest. “We literally have no election cop on the beat and we’re entering the 2020 election that promises to be the most expensive election in history.”

Ilhan Omar: I’m Beyond ‘Excited for a President Who Will Fight Against Western Imperialism’

I really don’t know if this womyn understands the meaning of “imperialism” or if she was confusing it with “capitalism.”

What I do know: This refugee who has succeeded in becoming a U.S. Congresswoman should be celebrating the opportunities the “west” has given her instead of bashing them. But that’s not how demorats roll…

Ilhan Omar blames media, political foes for killing her marriage

Being a demorat means never having to take personal responsibility.

From NY Post: US Rep. Ilhan Omar suggested Monday that the press and her political foes are partly to blame for the demise of her marriage.

“Ilhan and Ahmed have been the object of speculation and innuendo from political opponents and the media,” according to a statement from her lawyer, referring to the Minnesota congresswoman and her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, and which the rep said he was issuing “on behalf” of Omar.

“This has taken a significant toll on Ilhan, Ahmed, and their three children. As with all marriages, this is intensely personal and a difficult time for their family,” the statement added.

“Just like any other family navigating this kind of transition, Ilhan wishes to have their privacy respected for themselves and their children and will not be commenting any further.”

Omar filed for divorce from Hirsi on Friday in Minneapolis.

The filing was submitted less than two months after a Washington, DC, mom and doctor accused Omar in court papers of having an affair with her husband, political consultant Tim Mynett.

Mynett and Omar

Friday’s divorce filing from Omar came about an hour before the Mynetts’ first hearing in their own marital split was postponed.

The Mynetts’ hearing was slated for Monday morning, but court papers were filed around 3 p.m. Friday to postpone it. An hour earlier, Omar had filed for divorce from her husband.

CNN asks Ilhan Omar how her pilot jobs program will be paid; she gives a socialist answer

Scroll ahead to the 12:52 mark (so you don’t have to listen to all of Ilhan’s “ums” and her bashing President Trump) where CNN host Erin Burnett asks Ilhan about the bill she’s introduced to create a pilot program to guarantee a job for anyone who wants one.

Burnett asks Ilhan what would be the “number one thing she would do to pay for that.”

Ilhan’s answer: “It will pay for itself.”

Yeah, she didn’t major in economics.

Spike in robberies and mob beatings in demorat Ilhan Omar’s district

From Fox News: Fox News has obtained a series of disturbing videos showing mob-style attacks in downtown Minneapolis in which police say “vulnerable” victims were targeted and brutally beaten for valuables such as cellphones.

Police told Fox News that an “incredible” law enforcement investigation led to the arrest of 16 people in connection to the videos. They face assault and robbery charges, among others.

In one daytime video, a mob can be seen pummeling a man just outside of the Minneapolis Twins’ stadium.

At one point, the attackers run to gain speed and jump on the victim. They ride a bike over him, take off his pants and beat him with a belt. The victim appears to defend himself but is outnumbered and overpowered.

In another gruesome video, two young men appear to be attacked. They’re punched in the face and appear to fight back. One is knocked unconscious.

In a third video, a young man is surrounded by a mob and beaten unconscious. The video appears to show something being taken from his pocket once he’s on the ground.

All of these videos are emerging as the city of Minneapolis is dealing with a crippling shortage of police officers. The chief of police, Medaria Arradondo, has requested 400 additional officers over the next few years to make up for the shortage.

However, some members of Minneapolis’ City Council argue against the money going toward additional officers. Instead, they say the money should go toward other law enforcement and safety programs.

The city’s mayor, Jacob Frey (demorat), has proposed adding 14 additional officers to the force. Police told Fox News the mayor is supportive of the department and the new policing strategies in the city’s downtown.

The shortage of police is so staggering that over the past year the police department was unable to immediately send a squad car to 6,776 priority one emergencies. That includes situations like shots fired, stabbings and sexual assaults. A Minneapolis police website says priority one calls involve “an imminent threat to personal safety, or the loss or damage to property exists.”

Even worse, police were unable to immediately respond to seven “priority zero” calls, including a baby not breathing and a fellow officer facing imminent danger. Priority zero calls, according to the Minneapolis police website, “include those situations where a known crisis exists that threatens the life of an individual. This is the highest possible priority and the fastest possible response is desired. The MECC objective is to have squads en route to the call within 30 seconds of receipt by the dispatcher.”

“To have to look someone in the eye and tell them that we were unable to get there because we do not have enough resources – it’s unacceptable,” Andy Skoogman, the president of Minnesota Police Chiefs Association, told Fox News.

The chair of the city’s safety committee, Alondra Cano, previously told Fox News that the city council acknowledges there is a crisis and is investing and diversifying its force to better represent the community.

“I do appreciate that the mayor has put forward an investment strategy in our department because we can’t walk around with the same broken department since the 1950s,” Cano told Fox News. “We’re thankful that the information is out in the open. We would rather have a truthful conversation than pretend like this isn’t happening.”
