Seattle Mayor Durkan: President Trump should “spend a little more time learning from cities like Seattle”

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan

President Trump has threatened to send illegal aliens to sanctuary cities.

Sounds like Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan is more than happy to accept them. In fact, she’s trying to convince her followers that she’s shown such great leadership that Seattle is more than capable of handling the illegal aliens they want to protect.

Apparently because she has solved all the city’s problems.

Here’s the proof:

From Mayor Durkan’s Twitter timeline:

Instead of threatening immigrant families and the cities that welcome them, this president should spend a little more time learning from cities like Seattle. @TIME

Retweet of Mayor Eric Garcetti‏: “L.A. isn’t afraid either!”

Retweet of Meet the Press: “WATCH: Gov. Jay Inslee (D-Wash.) responds to President Trump’s threats to transport immigrants to sanctuary cities. #MTP @JayInslee: “You can’t threaten somebody with something they’re not afraid of. And we are not afraid of diversity in the state of Washington.”

If you read through the good mayor’s Twitter responses, you’ll find there are less than 1% positive responses to her Tweets. Example replies to her include the following:

This mayor is a state embarrassment and a clown. Only wakes up when its time to get on camera. The mayor is equally worthelss and a disgrace. Inslee has as much chance as me being Pope. And my odds are better.”

“Hey here’s an idea. Stop worrying about @realDonaldTrump and fix our shithole homeless issue in #seattle and #Washington @MayorJenny @JayInslee are the worst. One talks out of both sides of his mouth, the other is just full of shits. #politics”

“They won’t find housing but we’ve decided tents in cities streets are acceptable and the garbage left for tax payers look at. Get it together!”

“Make Tent Cities Great Again”

“Again, stop with the political posturing. Your ran a campaign on fixing Seattle’s homeless problem. You haven’t done shit. Fix our city, then worry about @realDonaldTrump #seattle deserves better”

“Are you serious? Take a look around our once beautiful city. A huge mess!!!

“It isn’t “your city”. It’s the citizens city and they are over your lack of leader ship and what you’ve done to destroy What was once a beautiful place to live.”

“Learn what….how to destroy a city? You and your liberal friends and this disgusting governor @JayInslee have ruined it. He pushed the homeless in Olympia into the neighborhoods and you’ve continued the path of destruction for a once great city. Shut up!”

Elections have consequences, Seattle! Sure sucks to be you right now…

Weeks before illegal alien killed Kittitas County Deputy Sheriff, WA state demorat senator proposed bill to expand sanctuary state rules

Lisa Wellman: Working hard to protect illegal aliens in WA state

Demorats care more about protecting illegal aliens than they do their constituents. The proof is in their actions.

On March 19, Kittitas County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Thompson was killed by an illegal alien in Washington State. Thompson is permanently separated from his wife and three children.

Washington State is already a sanctuary state. Yet the current law, signed by demorat Governor Jay Inslee in 2017, apparently doesn’t go far enough to protect illegal aliens.

Washington State Senator Lisa Wellman represents 41st Legislative District which includes Mercer Island, Bellevue, Newcastle and parts of Issaquah, Sammamish, and Renton. Read about her background here.

She sponsored SB5497 – the Keep Washington Working Act – to “focus agencies on people’s needs – not immigration.”

Because heaven forbid we follow federal immigration laws to protect American citizens.

The bill would limit the amount of information that state and local agencies share with federal immigration officials, and joint immigration enforcement activities. The bill now goes to the state House of Representatives for consideration.

Apparently the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs support this bill. The association stated, “Our membership feels strongly that every person in all communities across our state should feel safe contacting law enforcement, particularly those who have been a victim of crime.”

I wonder how the association feels about their support for this bill now that one of their fellow brothers was a murder crime victim by an illegal alien?

From Wellman’s statement about this bill:

“In addition to imposing limits on information sharing and joint immigration enforcement activities, the Keep Washington Working Act requires that state agencies provide services regardless of a person’s citizenship or immigration status. Agencies would develop and implement secure information systems to use when storing information about people who use state services and facilities.

A statewide Keep Washington Working workgroup would work within the state Department of Commerce to develop strategies to expand immigrants’ career pathways within Washington state.

We need local law enforcement to do its job effectively. That means keeping communities safe, and we need all Washington residents to feel safe so they can focus on school and work,” said Rep. Lilian Ortiz-Self, who introduced the House companion bill. “This legislation helps students do better in school and workers do their jobs knowing they are valued and respected. The result will be communities that flourish and businesses that grow.”

Blah, blah, blah. The word salads these demorats concoct to justify their actions is amazing.

Why can’t bureaucrats focus on people’s needs (especially Americans’ need for safety) while enforcing immigration laws that effectively allow law enforcement to identify and capture criminal illegal aliens?

That is a rhetorical question, of course, because I know that liberal logic and pandering is not designed to make sense.

Washington state governor proposes “free” statewide college program

Last time I visited Washington I didn’t see any money growing on trees. It’s most likely that property owners will be footing the bill for this “free” program.

FYI: The governor is mulling a 2020 presidential run. And as you know, FREE STUFF always gets votes…

From MyNorthwest.com: Washington Governor Jay Inslee unveiled plans Friday to provide guaranteed financial aid to 93,000 college students statewide.

Gov. Inslee’s plan would convert Washington’s State Need Grant into “Washington’s College Promise” grant. Currently, the State Need Grant provides aid to about three out of every four eligible college students who apply.

According to the governor’s office, that leaves tens of thousands of students stuck on a financial aid wait list. The new program will aim to provide guaranteed funds to all eligible students.

“Every student in Washington state should have the opportunity to get the higher education they need. I’m excited to talk about the big steps we’re taking to make this opportunity a reality,” Gov. Inslee said in a Friday news release.

The governor’s program will need $103 million of the $280 million the governor set aside for higher education in his proposed 2019-2021 budget. It would serve the additional 18,000 eligible students who remain unserved by financial aid.

“Governor Inslee’s College Promise proposal will support all students who want to attend college to go, regardless of their financial ability to pay tuition,” said Maud Daudon, chair of the Washington Student Achievement Council.

Right now, eligibility for state college grants boils down to a pair of qualifiers:

Must be “disadvantaged,” which according to state law, means any student with adverse cultural, educational, environmental, or familial circumstances.

As an alternative to disadvantaged, a student must qualify as “needy,” which encompasses anyone who demonstrates “financial inability” to pay for higher education.

Gov. Inslee’s other higher education budget proposals include added capacity for STEM courses, a scholarship for 50 students who commit to working in “high demand behavioral health fields,” expanded worker training, and more.

Washington state governor gives $1.2 million taxpayer dollars to assist illegal aliens

gov insleee
Don’t let the lack of the word “illegal” in this story fool you. Gov. Inslee has, in effect, turned Washington state into a sanctuary state.
From MyNorthwest.com: Just hours after President Trump signed an executive order to keep families together at the U.S.-Mexico border, Washington state Governor Jay Inslee called the policy child abuse and announced he will give $1.2 million to support Northwest Immigrant Rights Project’s civil legal aid services.
The money will be used to defend immigrant rights and to help families reunite.
“We know that this was an intentional infliction of abusive behavior to punish innocent children,” Inslee said. “It is a form of child abuse.”
The governor said that everyone is entitled to a fair and due process, and to be treated with dignity and respect.
As for Trump’s executive order, Inslee said it’s too late. The damage has been done. “We have more than 2,300 children separated from their parents today,” Inslee said.
The governor said Trump’s administration has lied about the separation of children from their parents, why they did what they did to the children, lied about who is responsible, and lied about what it will take to reunite families.
Inslee and state Attorney General Bob Ferguson sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Department of Homeland Security head Kirstjen Nielsen for answers about why the policy was enacted and about the location of the children and parents. He said they have not received answers.
Trump said on Wednesday, “We are keeping families together.” But he added the “zero tolerance” policy will continue.
Vice President Mike Pence added that they are calling upon Congress to change the laws. Trump added that the word “compassion” comes into it.
The president has been trying to win over congressional support on immigration amid a crisis along the border involving the separation of immigrant children from their families.
