On cue: Susan Rice suggests race, gender bias linked to ‘unmasking’ backlash

Of course.

From Fox News: Susan Rice, the Obama national security adviser under fire over her alleged involvement in the “unmasking” of Trump associates during the 2016 presidential election, suggested in a fresh interview that race and gender might be playing a role in the scrutiny she’s faced.

In an interview with journalist Michael Tomasky for New York Magazine, Rice reportedly questioned the criticism she’s faced dating back to the Benghazi controversy. “Why me? Why not Jay Carney, for example, who was then our press secretary, who stood up more?” she asked.

Tomasky noted in the piece that Carney “isn’t an African-American woman, of course” and apparently asked Rice whether that is the key factor. Rice, in response, left the door open:

“I don’t know… I do not leap to the simple explanation that it’s only about race and gender. I’m trying to keep my theories to myself until I’m ready to come out with them. It’s not because I don’t have any.”

But Rice mentioned other prominent female figures – like Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice – who faced “ad hominem” attacks, suggesting a correlation.

Asked about the comments, a Republican Capitol Hill source pushed back. “This is screaming out for attention… She’s saying I don’t know why they all started picking on me to begin with.”

As to the suggestion of race and gender being a factor, the source countered, then “why would there be a subpoena for a white male?”

That was a reference to the fact that Rice is not the only focus of the congressional probe into unmasking. Investigators have issued subpoenas to three different agencies: NSA, CIA and FBI.

Those subpoenas have asked for unmasking information related to three individuals: former CIA Director John Brennan, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power, and Rice.

She’s not the only focus of congressional frustration, either. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., had a tense exchange with a top intelligence community lawyer at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday where he complained he still doesn’t have an answer on whether his communications have been monitored.

“Am I ever gonna get [the response] in my lifetime?” he asked.

Rice told Judy Woodruff on PBS on March 22 that she “knew nothing” about the unmasking of Trump associates. But weeks later on MSNBC, she admitted she sometimes sought out the identities of Trump associates who communicated with foreigners, a request known as “unmasking” in the intelligence community. But “I leaked nothing to nobody,” Rice told MSNBC.

Rice initially became a target of Republican criticism back in 2012 for giving misleading information about the origin of the Benghazi terror attack. On Sept. 16, 2012, just days after the attack, Rice appeared on all five Sunday political talk shows to claim the Benghazi attack spun out of a protest over an anti-Muslim video produced in California.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus reportedly told lawmakers later that the intelligence community considered the attack an act of terrorism at the time. Four Americans were killed in Benghazi, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.

CIA spreads disinformation to news agencies

That is the assertion made not by some loony bin, but by the late investigative journalist Jack Anderson in 1981, back in those days when America’s reporters actually had the guts to investigate.

Jack Northman Anderson (1922–2005) was a newspaper columnist, syndicated by United Features Syndicate, who is considered one of the fathers of modern investigative journalism. Anderson won the 1972 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for his investigation on secret Nixon administration policy decision-making between the U.S. and Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Anderson was a key and often controversial figure in reporting on J. Edgar Hoover’s apparent ties to the Mafia, the Watergate scandal, the John F. Kennedy assassination, the search for fugitive ex-Nazi officials in South America, and the savings and loan crisis. He also discovered a CIA plot to assassinate Fidel Castro.

Here’s a scanned image of a column Anderson wrote on the disinformation campaign waged against Americans by the CIA, which was published on September 22, 1981, in the Santa Cruz Sentinel. (Source: Activist Post)

Jack Anderson on CIA disinformation

Here are excerpts from Anderson’s article:

the Central Intelligence Agency is . . . trying to shut off channels of information to the electorate . . . and . . . spreading “disinformation” to news agency.

The most disturbing is the disinformation campaign. This poisons the well from which Americans draw the facts they need to govern themselves. The wise Thomas Jefferson sought to lay this issue to rest two centuries ago when he argued that the people’s right to know is more important than the officials’ right to govern.

Now along comes Bill Casey, the doddering CIA director, with the argument that the government has the right to mislead the public by planting phony stories in the press.

His purpose ostensibly is patriotic. He wants to build public support for the political, economic and military measures that the Reagan administration believes are necessary to counter the worldwide conspiracies of the Soviet Union.

Legal experts have warned that the CIA is forbidden by law from conducting operations within the United States and that disinformation aimed at the American public, therefore, would be illegal. But Casey has found a way that he thinks the CIA can get around the law. The disinformation will be planted with foreign news bureaus whose stories are routinely picked up by U.S. newspapers. […] Trusted CIA sources have told my associate Ron McRae that the foreign press, in the words of one insider, “is already being manipulated directly.”

My question is:

What makes us think the CIA had stopped its disinformation campaigns?

Recall that last February in an interview with Lou Dobbs on the Fox Business Network, retired four-star Admiral James “Ace” Lyons, former Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet (1985-1987), the largest single military command in the world, said that the Benghazi attack on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, was a false flag “October surprise” that went horribly wrong.

According to Adm. Lyons, Obama intentionally had conspired with Muslim “terrorists” to stage a bogus attack against the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, and the bogus kidnapping of Ambassador Chris Stevens. If the plan had succeeded, Obama would successfully “negotiate” for Stevens’ release in a prisoner exchange for “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel Rahman, which would bolster Obama’s then-mediocre approval ratings just prior to the 2012 election.

And so the Obama administration intentionally gutted security at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi prior to the staged kidnapping of Stevens. But former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed direct orders to stand down. The two men raced to the U.S. compound and killed scores of attackers, but were themselves killed. Obama’s Muslim co-conspirators took Woods’ and Doherty’s heroism to mean Obama had reneged on the deal, so they took their anger out on Stevens by torturing him and dragging his body through the streets.

Benghazi smoking gun: White House email orchestrates propaganda blaming terrorist attack on a video

On September 11, 2012, the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi was attacked by a heavily armed group of 125-150 gunmen, whose trucks bore the logo of Ansar al-Sharia, a group of Islamist militants working with the local government to manage security in Benghazi. U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Information Officer Sean Smith, and CIA contractors and former Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were killed during a series of raids, commencing at nightfall and continuing into the next morning. Ten others were injured. [Wikipedia]

Initially, it was reported that the Benghazi attack emerged from a spontaneous protest against a video, Innocence of Muslims. Subsequent investigations by the U.S. State Department; by the House of Representatives committees on Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, the Judiciary, and Oversight and Government Reform; and by the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence determined that there was no protest and that the attack was a planned terrorist attack launched by Islamist militants. [Wikipedia]

Fellowship of the Minds has published posts on how, from the beginning, the Obama administration had lied about the Benghazi attack being a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islamic video (see here and here).

Now, thanks to the tireless efforts of the nonpartisan citizen watchdog group Judicial Watch, we have the smoking gun in the form of an email from the White House instructing and coordinating a systematic propaganda campaign to portray the Benghazi attack as being, in the words of the email, “rooted in an Internet video, and not a failure of policy.” The White House-orchestrated propaganda was despite the fact that State Department officials initially had accurately described Benghazi as an “attack” and a possible kidnap attempt.

This email points to a CONSPIRACY. Those who are allergic to conspiracy theories and who portray conspiracy theorists as tinfoil hat-wearing kooks should take note.

The email was written by Benjamin J. Rhodes, then-White House Deputy Strategic Communications Adviser, and was dated September 14, 2012, 3 days after the Benghazi attack.

Ben Rhodes, Obama’s current deputy national security adviser for strategic communication, has been a foreign policy speechwriter for Obama since 2007. Rhodes is an advocate for U.S. “support” (read: arming, funding, and training) the Syrian rebels (read: jihadists). Rhodes’ wife is Ann Norris, chief foreign policy adviser to Senator Barbara Boxer; Rhodes’ brother, David, is president of CBS News. What a nice incestuous bunch!

UPDATE:

“Just minutes ago, the world was informed that a Select Committee investigation on Benghazi has finally been announced. This will bypass Barack Obama, Eric Holder, and will likely lead to the impeachment of Barack Obama and the end of Hillary Clinton’s career.

“The only question is why this hadn’t been done sooner. Benghazi was a massive system of crimes, cover ups, and outright lies by the Obama administration. Their goal was to win an election in 2012… but the cost might be impeachment in 2015.”

Retired 4-star admiral: Benghazi was an Obama false flag that went wrong

As the term is used in contemporary America, a “false flag” incident is some traumatic public event that is:

  • False: The public are given an untruthful version of the event by the government and the media.
  • Results in a “rallying around the flag” effect: The objective is to arouse and manipulate the emotions (fear, anger, outrage, indignation) of the American people so that they’ll “rally around the flag” in an outburst of patriotism, supplying the current White House occupant and his (and his party’s) policies with their support and loyalty.

Admiral James “Ace” Lyons (US Navy, Ret.), 86, an officer of the U.S. Navy for 36 years, is the former Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet (1985-1987) — the largest single military command in the world. Today he is a columnist for The Washington Times and the chairman of the Center for Security Policy’s Military Committee. He is also a co-author, along with 18 other top national security professionals, of Shariah: The Threat to America.

H/t Tea Party Crusaders and John Molloy for the video.

In an interview with Lou Dobbs on the Fox Business Network., Adm. Lyons says that Barack Obama intentionally conspired with America’s enemies to stage a bogus attack on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, against the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, and the bogus kidnapping of Ambassador Chris Stevens.

According to the plan, Obama would successfully “negotiate” for Stevens’ release in a prisoner exchange, which would bolster the POS’s then-mediocre approval ratings just prior to the 2012 election.

In Lyons’ words, “The attack on the American Consulate in Benghazi . . . was the result of a bungled abduction attempt . . . the first stage of an international prisoner exchange . . . that would have ensured the release of Omar Abdel Rahman, the ‘Blind Sheik’.”

But something went horribly wrong with Obama’s “October Surprise.”

Although the Obama Administration intentionally gutted security at the Benghazi consulate prior to the staged kidnapping, former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty disobeyed direct orders to stand down. Note: Admiral Lyons had made these accusations back in November 2012, and nothing came of it. But there isn’t much else he can do, which is why he and others. in a Jan. 6, 2014 letter to House Speaker John A. Boehner signed by more than 70 people, are demanding a Congressional select committee to investigate the Benghazi debacle. But their demands are falling on the GOP establishment’s deaf ears.

The Battling Boys of Benghazi

Tyrone Woods & Glen DohertyR.I.P. ex-Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who died while defending staff at the U.S. diplomatic outpost and CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, on September 12, 2012.

THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI

By Anonymous (a U.S. Marine Corps officer)

We’re the battling boys of Benghazi,
no fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
defending our country we loved so well.
It wasn’t our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.

We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
led them to safety, and stood at the gate.
Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
but we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
so we fought, and we fought, and we fought ’til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
but Barack Obama didn’t give a damn.
Just two dead SEALS who carried the load,
no thanks to us,
we were just “bumps on the road“.

Americans in Benghazi attack sent distress calls, pleading for their lives

chris-stevens1Clockwise from top left: Ambassador Christopher Stevens; Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith; former Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. Rest in Peace

This makes me weep . . . .

Americans trapped in Benghazi that awful night of Sept. 11, 2012, were pleading for their lives — for someone to rescue them.

But their Commander In Chief was thousands of miles away that night in the White House and disappeared for hours — hours about which the White House refuses to account. Their Commander In Chief was so blasé, he actually went to bed and slept, then hopped onto Air Force One the next day to fly to Las Vegas for a fundraiser.

Later that month, in an interview, their Commander In Chief airily dismissed their deaths as mere “bumps on the road“. Later still, when she was hauled before a Congressional hearing, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, too, dismissed their deaths with the quip, “What does it matter?”

POS and Broomhilda

Catherine Herridge reports for Fox News, Nov. 20, 2013:

State Department employees at the Benghazi compound knew they were in a death trap and made a series of radio distress calls to the CIA annex during the terror assault last year, according to congressional sources familiar with recent testimony on the attack from five CIA personnel.

Sources told Fox News that the radio calls, which were described in closed testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, were characterized as almost frantic, with State Department employees who knew they could not defend themselves “pleading” for their lives.

When the CIA team arrived from the annex about a mile away, they found the State Department employees without guns that could adequately protect them; one of the agents was found hiding in the consulate, apparently in a closet. The testimony lends more weight to repeated claims, in the wake of the attack, that the consulate was not adequately protected despite being located in a volatile and violent area prone to attack.

When the CIA personnel were asked for their reaction to the administration’s initial explanation that an anti-Islam video and a demonstration gone awry were to blame for the attack, Fox News is told they were seething with anger because everything on the ground — from their perspective — showed it was a premeditated attack.

At least three of the five — who were all in Benghazi — responded to the scene that night. The witnesses testified that five mortars rained down on the annex in less than a minute. They pointed to those details as more evidence of a professionally trained team, describing the attack on the annex as akin to a professional hit on the operation in order to drive it out of Benghazi.

Congressional sources say the testimony seems to further conflict with and undercut the briefing three days after the attack by then-CIA Director David Petraeus, who likened the attack to a flash mob. When pressed on the number and precision of the mortars, Petraeus offered that Benghazi was flooded with mortars, and played down their accuracy by suggesting they could have been fired from the back of a pick-up truck.

When Petraeus appeared on the Hill in November, following his resignation from the CIA over his admitted affair, he tried to claim that he knew it was a terrorist attack all along and insisted that he did not put the emphasis on the anti-Islam film.
