WASHINGTON — The New England Patriots are for same-sex marriage. So are the San Francisco Giants.
The reigning football and baseball champions, along with baseball’s small-market Tampa Bay Rays, are among the thousands of businesses, religious groups, advocacy organizations and politicians who are filing legal briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court in support of gay marriage.
The cases from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee will be argued April 28, and a decision is expected by early summer.
Roughly six dozen briefs backing pro-gay rights plaintiffs in the four states are expected by the Friday deadline. Included is a “people’s brief” filed by the Human Rights Campaign with the signatures of 207,551 people.
The Super Bowl-champion Patriots, the World Series-winning Giants and the Rays are part of a brief from hundreds of U.S. businesses.
The Patriots play in Massachusetts, the first state to allow same-sex couples to marry, and the Giants represent a city that is notable for its lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
Rays president Brian Auld said it was important that his team stand up as well.
“We’re a small but visible business, and I actually think it’s important that we send this signal of inclusion to the entire region,” Auld said in a telephone interview Thursday as he watched the Rays’ first spring training game in Port Charlotte, Florida.
The team also has participated in the “It Gets Better” project to encourage LGBT teenagers who have been bullied.
“Our players have traditionally been supportive of these kinds of things,” Auld said.
The Patriots, Giants and Rays are taking a stand the same week New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy made headlines for comments on MLB ambassador for inclusion Billy Bean, who is gay. “I disagree with his lifestyle,” Murphy told NJ.com on Tuesday. “I do disagree with the fact that Billy is a homosexual.”
A team spokesman said Wednesday that Murphy will no longer address his religious beliefs and will stick to baseball.

"I Got Nothing Against Being Gay…"

I was standing in line at the Las Vegas post office. It was a long line stretching out the door and only one window was open. (And the fools in charge of the post office wonder why they’re going broke.) A tall, rural-looking man had just finished buying his stamps and he stepped away from the window. All of us in line took a step forward.
A moment later the man returned, standing off to the side of the line. He called back to the postal worker at the window with a rangy twang, “I hate to bother you, but could I get some different stamps instead of the ones you gave me?”
“Sure,” said the postal worker. Then he asked, “Which ones did I give you?”
The man answered, “Gay pride.”
I busted out laughing, followed by everyone else in line. The man explained himself. “I got nothing against being gay,” he said with that rangy voice. “I just don’t want it on my mail.”
The line chuckled and the postal worker said, “I understand.” He then exchanged the man’s stamps.
As for me, I bought a sheet of Batman stamps. I don’t want it on my mail either.

NFL Hypocrisy: Bash Tim Tebow: Wonderful; Criticize Michael Sam: Get Sent to Reeducation Camp

Tim Tebow

When Tim Tebow played in the NFL he was openly mocked for his Christian faith. Sportscasters denounced him, Saturday Night Live skewered him, and the media had a field day ridiculing him for openly practicing his faith. Despite a won/loss record better than half of the starting quarterbacks in the league, Tebow found himself unwanted and no longer playing football.

Michael Sam

Michael Sam, drafted by the St. Louis Rams, is the first openly gay player in the league. After the Rams drafted him, Sam was filmed kissing his boyfriend. Since then, anyone who has dared voice a negative opinion regarding this open display of homosexual behavior has been denigrated by the media and corporate America.

Miami Dolphins defensive back Don Jones tweeted “OMG” and “horrible.” The team responded by fining Jones, suspending him from all team activities, and “ordering” him to attend “sensitivity training.”

“We met with Don today about respect, discrimination and judgment,” the Dolphins said in a statement Sunday. “These comments are not consistent with the values and standards of our program.”

Jones issued a mea culpa for his remarks.

“I want to apologize to Michael Sam for the inappropriate comments that I made last night on social media,” he said in a statement Sunday.

“I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment. I remember last year when I was drafted in the seventh round and all of the emotions and happiness I felt when I received the call that gave me an opportunity to play for an NFL team and I wish him all the best in his NFL career.”

Excuse me, but the last time I checked this was still America, land of free speech, and all that jazz. Or is it?
How is being ordered to attend “sensitivity training” any different from Communist reeducation camps?

Sam has since been congratulated by aka Obama. The message being sent loud and clear by our government and media is celebration of homosexuality and condemnation of Christianity.

Cringe…

What woman dances around like this?
Like gay men’s lisping, I betcha Takei’s ridiculous prancing is also contrived — a parody of feminity.
According to Dr. Caroline Bowen, a speech-language pathologist:

“Many gay men are effectively bilingual, and can elect whether to sound gay or straight, depending where they are or who they are with.

Just as an African-American individual may switch from Ebonics to standard English, or the other way around, gay people can switch from ‘straight’ to ‘gay’. This is an example of code-switching (see above). […]

Some gay men report code switching to gay production only when they are in the company of other gay men. Indeed, some say that their parents, employers and workmates, for example, have never heard them ‘talk gay’.”
Star Trek reruns will never be the same for me….
