CNN ratings continue to collapse

From Fox News: CNN is suffering a credibility crisis as viewership for the once-proud network continues to crater with no apparent plan in place to fix things anytime soon, according to media watchdogs and insiders.

CNN’s audience shriveled in the second quarter of 2019, averaging only 541,000 total viewers, less than half Fox News Channel’s 1.3 million average. But CNN struggled even more during the primetime hours of 8-11 p.m. ET, finishing as the fifteenth most-watched network on basic cable behind networks such as TLC, Investigation Discovery and the Hallmark Channel. CNN averaged a dismal 761,000 primetime viewers while FNC averaged 2.4 million.

The Hill media guru Joe Concha told Fox News that CNN’s freefall may not be slowing.

“The numbers warrant concern, yes. Q2 was a particularly news-rich quarter highlighted by the release of the Mueller report and all the aftermath and controversy following it, plus the launch of several high-profile Democratic candidacies including Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg to propel 2020 coverage into high gear,” Concha said. “It may only get worse in Q3 given the numbers we’re already seeing.”

CNN did not immediately respond when asked for comment.

CNN started off the third quarter with “the network’s lowest average since 2015” when it comes to primetime viewers among the key demographic of adults age 25-54, according to TVNewser. But the network has extended various contributors through the election, indicating that its apparent anti-Trump programming strategy will remain in place for at least the duration of the president’s first term.

“You know the answer,” a longtime CNN employee said when asked if staffers are panicked about the ratings decay before declining further comment.

Another current CNN employee told Fox News that there is widespread concern about the network’s ratings problem, but high-profile hosts such as Anderson Cooper remain unfazed.

“The people that are concerned – it’s certainly not the anchors who have lucrative contracts – it’s the people among the lower levels, such as producers and show bookers,” the employee said.

A third current staffer told Fox News that CNN “is clearly doing something wrong if the ratings are like this,” before asking, “So why don’t we try something different?”

Cable news viewership has declined in general as more and more consumers cut the cord in favor of OTT streaming services, but CNN’s losses are overwhelming. The network lost 18 percent of its audience compared to the second quarter of last year. CNN also dropped a whopping 38 percent of primetime viewers among the key demo.

“Losing nearly 40 percent of an already third-place audience must be a primary topic in internal meetings, with immediate remedies not readily apparent,” Concha said.

CNN’s most popular show, “Cuomo Prime Time,” averaged only 910,000 viewers. Fourteen Fox News programs and 10 MSNBC programs attracted larger audiences. Chris Cuomo and Anderson Cooper are part of CNN’s struggling primetime lineup that lost 38% of its audience in the key demo during the second quarter of 2019.

Reporter-turned-banker Porter Bibb is surprised parent company AT&T hasn’t made any changes. “My guess is that senior management is more concerned about the launch of HBO Max than CNN, at least for the moment,” he said.

Sagging ratings weren’t the only negative headlines generated by CNN during the second quarter, as the network reduced its headcount days after publically declaring there wouldn’t be mass layoffs.

A CNN spokesperson told Fox News on May 7 that reports of looming layoffs were a “crazy rumor,” but staffers were shocked when members of the network’s Atlanta-based staff who covered health care were shown the door only two weeks later.

CNN also saw over 100 employees accept a voluntary buyout option, losing bureau chiefs and award winners in the process while the network moved into elaborate new New York City digs.

Black advocacy groups want a “civil rights audit” of CNN

Al Sharpton approved.

From Hollywood Reporter: CNN is facing calls to diversify its executive ranks from two prominent organizations that advocate for African-Americans, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Association of Black Journalists.

The broadside began on Tuesday, when the NABJ blasted the network, saying it is “concerned about the lack of black representation within the ranks of CNN’s executive news managers and direct reports to CNN president Jeff Zucker.”

The organization, which pointed out that CNN has no black executive producers, called for a “civil rights audit” of the network. After a late January meeting was canceled, it pushed again for a meeting with CNN’s leadership, which is unwilling to meet with the NABJ if one of its top officers, Roland Martin, is present. Martin, who serves as vp digital for the NABJ, has a contentious history with CNN, his former employer, and has been critical of the network.

“We have made it abundantly clear that we would be more than happy to sit down with the rest of their leadership team as soon as possible, and that offer still stands,” CNN said Tuesday in a statement. (A spokesperson would not comment for this story.)

But, the NABJ is not budging. “We ain’t meeting unless I’m in the room,” Martin said on his digital show, #Roland Martin Unfiltered.

The NAACP joined the fray on Wednesday night, criticizing CNN and Zucker. “CNN’s lack of black representation in leadership roles is troubling and another example of the media industry’s reluctance to address an issue that continues to plague newsrooms across the country,” the organization said. “NAACP finds it offensive that CNN president Jeff Zucker refuses to address this issue.”

CNN leadership is said to internally echo a commitment to hiring more diverse employees, including executives, but did not address the company’s diversity goals in the released statement. “The relationship between CNN and NABJ is very important to us,” the network said Tuesday. “As we have told them many times, we look forward to a thoughtful discussion about how both of our organizations can continue to work together.”

The organization joined the NABJ in asking CNN parent company WarnerMedia to “conduct a diversity and inclusion audit of all its news divisions.”

More advocacy organizations are expected to issue statements criticizing CNN’s executive-level diversity and unwillingness to unconditionally meet with the NABJ, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Barring a meeting with CNN leadership, the NABJ is pushing for a meeting with the network’s owner, AT&T, and CEO Randall Stephenson.

“It’s vital to point out that not once has CNN disputed anything in the NABJ letter when it comes to their lack of black executives,” a person involved in the effort said. “Their deflection to a personal issue hasn’t gone unnoticed by black staffers at CNN and NABJ members.”

The NABJ has recently met separately with the leadership of Fox News and CBS News, including executives Suzanne Scott and Susan Zirinsky, and has a meeting scheduled for next week with ABC News.

Hypocritical left call for boycott of Tucker Carlson, ignore racist/homophobic comments by lefty pundits

Of course proggies are calling for a boycott of Fox News’ Tucker Carlson but they said absolutely NOTHING about Don Lemon’s blatantly racist comments or MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski homophobic slurs to attack Mike Pompeo.

So typical of their double standards.

From MSN: At least 18 advertisers have now dropped “Tucker Carlson Tonight” after the Fox News host said in a show last Thursday that immigrants to the United States made the country “poorer” and “dirtier.”

As of Wednesday morning, Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, CareerBuilder, TD Ameritrade, Just For Men, United Explorer credit card, ScotteVest, Voya Financial, Zenni Optical, Pacific Life, Indeed, Bowflex, SmileDirectClub, NerdWallet, Minted, Ancestry.com, IHOP, Jaguar and SodaStream had all told TheWrap or stated publicly that they plan to suspend advertising on the program.

“SodaStream has asked Fox to remove us from the time slot,” the company said in a tweet Wednesday.
A spokesman for Takeda Pharmaceutical Company told TheWrap in a statement: “We have pulled our advertising off of Tucker Carlson’s show.”

On Monday, Carlson addressed the growing boycott campaign against his sponsors over his on-air remarks about immigration, telling viewers that he would not be intimidated.

“You’ve seen it a million times, it happens all the time,” he said. “The enforcers scream ‘racist’ on Twitter, until everyone gets intimidated and changes the subject to the Russia investigation or some other distraction. It’s a tactic, a well worn one. And it won’t work with the show, we’re not intimidated. We plan to say what’s true until the last day.

The pressure, however, has only grown with each defection, as liberal pressure groups like Media Matters for America and Sleeping Giants have kept up the pressure on Twitter. Activists like Jordan Uhl and Judd Legum posted real-time updates to their massive followings of companies whose ads appeared on Monday night’s show.

“We cannot and will not allow voices like Tucker Carlson to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts from the likes of Moveon.org, Media Matters and Sleeping Giants,” a spokesperson for Fox News told TheWrap in a statement Tuesday afternoon. “Attempts were made last month to bully and terrorize Tucker and his family at their home. He is now once again being threatened via Twitter by far left activist groups with deeply political motives.

The statement continued: “While we do not advocate boycotts, these same groups never target other broadcasters and operate under a grossly hypocritical double standard given their intolerance to all opposing points of view.”
The flap began when Carlson remarked on Thursday night that immigrants have made the United States “poorer and dirtier and more divided.”

“As a company, we strongly disagree with Mr. Carlson’s statements. Our customer base and our workforce reflect the diversity of our great nation, something we take great pride in. We will not be advertising on Mr. Carlson’s show in the coming week as we reevaluate our relationship with his program.”

The boycott metastasized from there.

“We are actively working with our media buyers to confirm that SmileDirectClub is no longer running our ads around any political opinion shows,” the company told TheWrap on Monday.

Employment giant Indeed said Monday it has stopped advertising on Carlson’s show and has “no plans to advertise on this program in the future.”

Indeed responded in messages to several Twitter users that the company hadn’t run ads on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” for “over a month now.”

FYI proggies: How’d that call for boycott (driven by Media Hogg) of Laura Ingraham’s show work out?

‘Caravan migrants’ set fire to Mexican immigration facility, as Independent voters and FoxNews express sympathy

On October 22, 2018, asked for their thoughts about the “caravans” of tens of thousands of impressively healthy and well-dressed, mainly young, military-age male “migrants” marching/trucking/bussing across Guatemala and Mexico toward the U.S. border, a panel of independent voters surprised “Fox & Friends” co-host Steve Doocy by expressing sympathy for the “migrants” because, as the panel put it, the poor “migrants” are just fleeing poverty, oppression and violence.

One independent voter said:

“I think our immigration laws need to be modernized and updated. But this country is founded on immigration. And all of us come from immigrants.”

Another said:

“There’s a humanitarian crisis taking place in Central America. And yet, this issue gets turned into a complete political football. There’s very little honest discussion about what’s actually happening, it gets turned into talking points.”

Yet another independent voter, when asked how he would feel if the “migrant caravan” reached 20,000 people, grandly said:

“This is the mightiest country on the planet, I think we can handle a caravan of people, unarmed, coming to this country.”

The unexpected sympathetic reaction from the panel of independent voters was celebrated by the Hate America Media (HAM). Washington Post praises the panel as heroic “rebels”; Salon commends the panel for rejecting Fox News‘ “fearmongering”; while The Hill snickeringly calls Fox News’ assemblage of the panel as an “epic fail”.

But it’s not just the panel of independent voters.

On October 22, 2018, Fox News co-host Brian Kilmeade said about the “migrants”:

“I imagine these are good people. Most of them are good people. I’m sure some are up to no good. I’m sure they just want a better life. I get that.”

On October 29, supposedly conservatie Fox News host Lou Dobbs took issue with his guest, Sidney Powell, for saying the “migrants” heading toward our southern border will bring into the United States diseases like polio that the U.S. hadn’t seen in decades. Dobbs defended the invading horde, calling them “illegal immigrants”:

“You can’t very well blame that disease on illegal immigrants. We don’t know the cause of it…I don’t think that’s fair.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FpzoX_EqP0

Just remember that the above examples are not from the overtly-Leftwing media. It’s supposedly conservative Fox News.

Bishop Jaime Calderón Calderón of Tapachula, Mexico even claims to know God’s mind — that God will reward those who assist the “caravan” invaders. He said:

“I am deeply grateful to my brother priests and all those people from our parishes who have gone far beyond their means to be able to provide for others. Know that God will always reward that goodness which you have shown.”

These are the disease-free, “unarmed”, “good” “immigrants” who are just fleeing “inhumane” conditions in their home countries, and whom the good bishop urges us to help:

(1) On October 19, 2018, the “migrants” broke through a flimsy border fence on Mexico’s southern border onto a bridge leading to Mexico. A violent clash with dozens of Mexican police in riot gear ensued, in which several officers were injured. See “Thousands of ‘migrant caravan’ invaders break through Mexico border fence – Video”.

(2) On October 28, 2018, as reported by the AP, another group of young male “migrants” stormed Mexico’s southern border in the Guatemala town of Tecun Uman and forced their way across. Some of the “migrants” were carrying rocks and bottles to throw at the police; others were armed with guns and firebombs. A 26-year-old male “migrant” was killed, but reports differ as to who actually killed the man. See “Shocking video of second ‘migrant caravan’ tearing down Mexico-Guatemala border fence; one invader killed”.

(3) On October 29, 2018, in a town in Chiapas, two Honduran “migrants”, one of them a minor, “attacked with firearm” the Mexican Federal Police. As recounted by the Mexican Ministry of Interior, police arrested the two “foreign nationals” — Carlos “N”, 17, and Jerson “N”, 22. They shot at police with a 38 mm Glock pistol, containing “9 useful cartridges”. “Fortunately, the assailants’ weapon failed, so they could not hurt any element of the FP.”

(4) Hours after the shooting in Chiapas, a group of Central American “migrants” facing deportation set fire to an immigration facility in Chiapas in an apparent attempt to escape. As reported  by Breitbart, Oct. 30, 2018:

The fire was reportedly started at a facility dual-purposed as a checkpoint and makeshift detention center for Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) in Pijijiapan, Chiapas, when a group of migrants housed there set fire to their mattresses, Televisa Noticias reported. According to local public safety director Jaime Marroquin, authorities were housing 21 men, five women, and three children which were in the process of being deported. The migrants reportedly set fires to give cover to their escape.

Firefighters responded to the scene while Mexican Federal Police officers detained the alleged runaways and moved them to a large immigration facility in Tapachula, Chiapas.

The caravan began its journey earlier this month in Honduras and publicly announced its intent to reach the U.S. border. The Mexican government offered the caravan temporary jobs, health care, and education if they agreed to stay in southern Mexico and follow the country’s legal procedures for requesting asylum. The group largely turned down the offer, however, according to the INM, 111 migrants agreed and requested Mexican identification documents.

Hollyweird hypocrites: Self-proclaimed feminist stars keep attacking Sarah Sanders for her looks

chelsea handler tweet
From Fox News: Hollywood women have banded together like never before on issues including pay inequality and sexual harassment, declaring that women all over the world need to stick together and be supportive of one another. But experts say several stars aren’t practicing what they preach when it comes to Donald Trump’s press secretary, Sarah Sanders.
Self-proclaimed activist Chelsea Handler wrote in an op-ed for Thrive in Dec. 2016: “Let’s stop it with the dialogue about how women look or what they wear, or if they’ve gained or lost weight. We are more guilty of this with each other than most men are.”
Cher has often spoken out about the sexualization of womendeclaring at the Women’s March on Jan. 20 that she “believe[s] in this movement.”
But both stars recently attacked Sanders solely over her looks.
Cher tweeted to Sanders on Tuesday to “stop dressing like a sister wife.” After fans slammed Cher for the hurtful tweet, she followed up by admitting it was “kinda mean” but “so funny.”
Handler has gone even further than Cher by mocking Sanders’ “summer whore lipstick” and calling her a “harlot” on her Netflix show. Comedian Fortune Feimster even wore exaggerated makeup to play Sanders for a skit on Handler’s now-defunct series.
And “Saturday Night Live” took a similar swipe at the press secretary’s outfits by putting the show’s Sanders character in a revealing outfit to dance provocatively to a pop song in a November 2017 episode.
The show has also dressed the Sanders character, played by Aidy Bryant, in a bright pink dress to mock the press secretary’s frequent color choice.
Penny Nance, President and CEO of Concerned Women for America, told Fox News Cher’s recent insults proves Hollywood feminists don’t play by their own rules when it comes to conservative women.
“Cher’s attack on Sarah is yet another example of how liberal women in all types of powerful positions stand up for only those women who adhere to their ideology,” Nance told Fox News. “If you’re a conservative woman, prepare to be thrown out of the feminist tent. Their message is that some women will be supported. That some women will be empowered. That some women will [be] trusted. But they don’t support all women and especially those of us who support life.”
Dan Gainor, vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center, echoed Nance’s comments adding that the recent attacks on Sanders’ looks are “especially offensive.”
They don’t just attack her for being conservative. They dare to treat her as if she’s not a woman. They blast her clothes and say she dresses like a ‘sister wife,'” Gainor said. “…Chelsea Handler called her a ‘harlot’ with ‘summer whore lipstick.’ And these are women doing this. Imagine the media outrage if conservatives dared to treat a liberal woman with such disgust.”
He added, “Liberals hate anyone who doesn’t side with them.”
Branding and public relations expert Scott Pinsker told Fox News these stars are hurting their brands by attacking Trump’s press secretary.
“An awful lot of women in America look more like Sarah Sanders than the Hollywood starlets who are bashing Trump and his supporters on all the award shows,” Pinsker explained. “If you want to disagree with Ms. Sanders’ political positions, that’s perfectly legitimate, but mocking her for being normal-looking isn’t exactly empowering to women.”

SCOTTeVEST founder says company markets to Fox viewers because they're "f***ing idiots"

scott jordan
From Washington Times: SCOTTeVEST founder Scott Jordan was rebuked by his own clothing company after he posted on Facebook last weekend that Fox News viewers are “f–ing idiots.”
Mr. Jordan co-founded SCOTTeVEST with his wife in 2000, selling a line of multi-pocketed “eVests” designed for consumers to carry multiple gadgets. He failed to clinch a deal on ABC’s Shark Tank with his “Technology Enabled Clothing” (TEC) patent in 2012, The Blaze reported.
Mr. Jordan, who stepped down from the company’s management last year but still holds the title of chief executive officer, was disavowed by the company on Wednesday after he publicly described an encounter with someone who recognized him from his SCOTTeVEST television commercials.
“I love meeting new people that recognize me and my company from all of our television commercials,” he wrote Jan. 14 in the now-deleted post, according to a screenshot captured by a “Shark Tank” fan blog. “I am on the ski lift and the following exchange just happened and happens often: I ask, ‘What network they saw me?’ Invariably people say Fox News.
“I laugh to myself, and tell them that we primarily advertise on Fox because we find their viewership to be extremely gullible and much easier to sell than other networks,” he wrote. “The look on their face at that time is priceless. I am not kidding you. I get to tell them they are [f–ing] idiots while getting rich off them.”
SCOTTeVEST posted a statement on its website calling Mr. Jordan’s comments “offensive and inexcusable.”
We are extremely sorry for his unacceptable comments,” the company said. “Mr. Jordan’s post was impulsive and inappropriate for too many reasons to list, and rightfully offended so many people. We strongly disagree with the views expressed by Mr. Jordan.”
Company spokesman Luke Lappala told The Blaze in an email that Mr. Jordan had since deactivated his Facebook and Twitter accounts. “We are sickened by his remarks,” Mr. Lappala said.
Mr. Jordan apologized in a Medium post Friday, calling his words “incredibly rude and inaccurate.”
“To those that I called gullible and idiotic, I am truly sorry,” he wrote. “As the founder of SCOTTeVEST, Inc., I have spent more than 17 years with the help of an amazing team building an awesome company with world class products and customer service. My idiotic statement not only jeopardized all of that hard work, but it also compromised the faith that SCOTTeVEST customers and our team of 20+ employees and contractors entrusted in me.
“I also want to apologize to the SCOTTeVEST customer service team, who are taking the brunt of the backlash for my actions,” he added. “SCOTTeVEST employees are good people that do not deserve to be punished for my actions. I will continue to learn from my mistakes and strive to become a better person.
Mr. Lappala explained to The Blaze that Mr. Jordan stepped down from his management responsibilities last year due to “personal reasons” but remains as “CEO in name only.”
Mr. Jordan retains his CEO and Co-Founder titles, but he is not involved in our daily operations,” Mr. Lappala said.

Blackout: Major progressive web sites omit report that Starbucks is giving raises as result of GOP tax cut

media TDS
Yesterday at 5:09 am Reuters reported that Starbucks was going to give raises to employees. From the story:
Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) will use some of the savings from the new U.S. corporate tax cuts to give domestic employees pay raises, company stock and expanded benefits with a combined worth of more than $250 million, the company said on Wednesday.
With the announcement, the world’s biggest coffee chain joins companies like Walmart (WMT.N), Apple Inc APPL.O, Comcast Corp (CMCSA.O) and American Airlines Group Inc (AAL.O) in sharing their tax savings with employees.
Starbucks is known for giving its workers, which it calls “partners,” more generous pay and benefits than other mass-market restaurants and retailers.
“Investing in our partners has long been our strategy, and due to the recent changes in U.S. tax law, we are able to accelerate some significant partner investments,” Chief Executive Kevin Johnson said in a letter to employees.”
Read the rest of the story here.
Over 11 hours later, at 1:45 pm (Central Time), I went to several proggie web sites to search how they reported this great news. I searched the following sites to see if they had “Starbucks” or any story on their home page about this announcement:

At the time of my search, I didn’t find ANY article on this good news on the above web sites. Gee, I wonder why?
CBS news had the story, at the bottom of their home page under the “Money Watch” category. Fox News DID have the story, about a quarter of the way down on their home page.
Wonder if these progressive “news” web sites will get around to reporting this great news as a result of the GOP tax cut plan, which NOT ONE demorat voted for.
No wonder we call them #FakeNews.

PS: I checked all the web sites bulleted above at 9:30 pm last night and STILL NOTHING about the Starbucks announcement. Shocker, not.

Trump Stock Rally Leaving Big Media-Entertainment Behind

The most-biased, left-leaning companies are not thriving? Gee, I wonder why…
trump-and-us-media
From Hollywood Reporter: The Donald Trump election rally that’s sent the Dow Jones Industrial average hurtling toward an all-time high of 20,000 has left behind one key industry: big media conglomerates.
The president-elect has spent the election railing against television news giants like CNN and even right-leaning Fox News Channel. And Wall Street appears to be listening now that the real-estate mogul is heading to the White House. Of the 50 entertainment/media stocks tracked by The Hollywood Reporter, 36 of them lag the 9 percent gain made by the blue-chip index ahead of Friday’s potential record-breaking open.
While it’s tough to say there’s an exact correlation between Trump’s criticism of media and falling stock prices, experts say there are some legitimate concerns for the sector — as well as some lucrative opportunities — under a Trump presidency.
“Media and technology have underperformed because Trump wasn’t exactly favorable to leaders of those industries, so perhaps his policies will reflect that,” said Michael Kramer, founder and portfolio manager of Mott Capital Management. “He has been very critical of media. Obviously, the bad-mouthing hurts.”
trump-and-crooked-media
On the flipside, Steven Birenberg of Northlake Capital Management predicts that a lucrative business environment under Trump will help a variety of industries and it’s only a matter of time before media-entertainment catches up. The FCC, Justice Department and IRS could all adopt a more business-friendly, merger-friendly posture, which would keep stocks humming under Trump, he says.
Among Birenberg’s favorite stocks, all of which he owns shares of, are Comcast and Charter Communications, two of the major players in cable television.
“Cable is a big winner under Trump as net neutrality could go away. At least the odds of the FCC enforcing any price caps on broadband will go away,” says Birenberg, who did not support Trump. “I despise the man … but when it comes to managing my clients’ money, my fiduciary responsibility is to do what is best for them, so if Trump helps out media and entertainment stocks, I’ve got to take advantage.”
He also likes video game publishers Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard due to the transition to digital downloads and in-game purchases, as well as Live Nation Entertainment, the giant concert promoter that also operates Ticketmaster. “The concert industry is booming globally,” he says.
Trump has been beating the drum against what he considers unfair trade deals with China, and among the biggest losers since the election is Alibaba. The massive Chinese new-media company that is co-producing films with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners is off 7 percent since the election.
Another laggard since Nov. 8 is Facebook, down 3 percent. The social networking giant has been under fire from the left for promoting “fake news” and from the right for allegedly pushing negative stories about conservatives and positive ones about liberals.
Also lagging are some theater operators, most notably Regal Entertainment Group, down 7 percent, and Cinemark Holdings, off 3 percent. Movie theaters, though, are expected to get a boost from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which could open this weekend to as much as $350 million globally.
Kramer says the Trump rally has mostly benefited bank, energy and infrastructure stocks, and he suspects it won’t last. “It’s all about tax reform, deregulation and infrastructure and deficit spending under Trump, and those are all pro-growth policies,” he said. “The market is forward-thinking, but it doesn’t know what the actual policies will be, so the rally may fizzle.”
Beyond a Trump effect (perceived or real), there are plenty of issues plaguing individual companies. Disney, for example, will score big with Rogue One, but it lost 2 million ESPN subscribers in the fiscal year ending Oct. 1. As for Viacom, it remains to be seen what new CEO Bob Bakish can do to turn around the Paramount film studio as well as cable channel MTV. And 21st Century Fox was hit by a downgrade Monday by Telsey Advisory Group, which predicts the Rupert Murdoch-controlled company will have to fight European regulators over its planned $14.1 billion acquisition of the 61 percent of British satellite TV service Sky that it doesn’t already own.
