Illegal aliens, who dodged ICE raid after demorat mayor’s warning, re-arrested for new crimes

libby schaaf

SHAME on you Libby Schaaf.

From Fox News: Three illegal immigrants aliens, who avoided capture after Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf blew the whistle on a raid by federal immigration authorities last month, have since been re-arrested for new crimes including robbery and spousal abuse, ICE officials said.

Schaaf tweeted out a warning ahead of the raid in northern California last month, infuriating Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials and the Trump administration.

“How dare you!” Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in California this month, addressing Schaaf. “How dare you needlessly endanger the lives of our law enforcement officers to promote a radical, open borders agenda.”

ICE officials eventually caught 232 illegal immigrants aliens, many of them criminals, in the four-day sweep but said that hundreds more escaped because of Schaaf’s warning.

But on Tuesday, officials said that at least three of those who were targeted in the raid, but were not apprehended, had since been arrested for additional crimes.

One was a Mexican national arrested for robbery and gun crimes, who was released back into the community for a prior offense despite an ICE detainer request in November.

Another Mexican national was arrested for a DUI, despite having been deported three times and prior convictions for false imprisonment, DUI and battery of a spouse.

The third was a Mexican national who was arrested for corporal injury of a spouse, despite being deported twice and criminal convictions including drug possession, hit-and-run, DUIs, possessions of narcotics equipment and a parole violation.

Acting ICE Director Tom Homan mentioned the three cases at a roundtable on sanctuary cities at the White House on Tuesday. He also expressed frustration at the mixed messages coming from politicians in sanctuary states.

“We are told on one hand to focus efforts on criminals but those same folks who want to focus on criminals don’t let us into the county jails,” he said. “It just defies logic.”

While Homan has blamed Schaaf’s actions for the escape of as many as 800 illegal immigrants, it is unclear exactly how many evaded capture directly because of her actions. A DHS official told The New York Times that ICE agents typically find only about 30 percent of their targets during a sweep, meaning that many of those who evaded capture may not have been caught either way.

Schaaf has stood by her actions, saying the community is safer because of sanctuary city policies.

“I do not regret sharing this information,” she said last month. “It is Oakland’s legal right to be a sanctuary city and we have not broken any laws. We believe our community is safer when families stay together.

Last week an Oakland community organizer told Fox News that she was being supported by members of the community. “People are really supportive of her because she took a stand,” Emma Paulino said. “She is serving the people who elected her.”

The Justice Department, which is also suing California over its sanctuary city policies, has said it is reviewing Schaaf’s actions, but has yet to make an announcement.

Sanctuary California: Illegal alien who killed 6-year-old was previously deported twice and arrested for DUI

Grace Aguilar killed by illegal

It’s not fair: Grace Aguilar taken from her parents.

The federal government ought to do its job and not blame California.

Tell me Jerry Brown, Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris and Libby Schaaf: Who is to blame now? The death of this little angel means nothing to you? NOTHING?

Apparently the last words of Kate Steinle meant nothing to you.

Why I’m so mad:

You politicians who support the sanctuary status in your state, and the voters who support you, make me sick.

Shame on the California politicians who shelter and protect illegals who kill American citizens. Shame on you!

From NBC Los Angeles: Angela Aguilar had just gone back inside her Fullerton home to cook. She thought her 6-year-old daughter, Grace, was also inside.

Grace Aguilar, though, was in the front yard, where she had gone to sit by her favorite tree. Angela Aguilar heard the crash, but she didn’t realize that an out-of-control driver had struck her daughter.

Grace Aguilar died in that Feb. 17 crash, which police say was caused by a drunk driver, and now her parents can only look back on a young life that had filled theirs with so much joy.

“For something so stupid to happen in a second, just to have (your child) taken away from you, it’s not fair,” Angela Aguilar said. “It’s not fair.”

Immigration officials say 50-year-old Maximino Delgado Lagunas, who is in the United States illegally, had a blood alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit when he was arrested. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has revealed to NBC4 that Lagunas, a Mexican national, had been deported twice, once in 2001 and again in 2008.

Court records show that in 2015 he was arrested for another DUI. Immigration officials say that back then Buena Park police did not detain Lagunas for the required 48 hours for pickup  by immigration officials, instead placing him on informal probation and releasing him to the streets.

Angela and Jesus Aguilar say it took them eight years to have a child. Now they can only mourn their daughter after Lagunas’ actions.

The girl’s parents say their daughter was friendly and mature. She loved people, nature and God. Her father remembers her hugs and her smiles. Her mother remembers the sound of her voice. “She had this beautiful laugh,” Angela Aguilar said. “I still hear it in my head every day.”

Lagunas could now face a possible murder charge.

“He’s taken away from me the best thing I had in life,” Jesus Aguilar said.

ICE arrests more than 150 people in Bay Area after Oakland mayor warned illegals

Hillary Clinton

Libby Schaaf (l) and Hillary Clinton (r): Birds of a feather…

Si podemos!

From Fox News: Federal immigration officials have arrested more than 150 individuals in violation of federal U.S. immigration law in Northern California this week despite the Oakland mayor warning of an impending raid.

U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made the arrests in the San Francisco Bay Area starting Sunday as part of “targeted immigration enforcement operations,” the agency told Fox News on Tuesday.

Roughly half of those arrested by deportation officers have convictions for assault and battery, crimes against children, weapons charges and DUI, according to the agency.

ICE highlighted the arrest of one fugitive of the federal agency in particular, who officials stated is a documented gang member.

Armando Nuñez-Salgado, 38, of Mexico, was arrested Sunday as part of ICE’s widespread raid, spokesperson James Schwab, of the San Francisco bureau, told Fox News.

“Over the past 18 years [Nuñez-Salgado] has accumulated criminal convictions in California that have resulted in more than 15 years of prison sentencings,” Schwab said, adding the man “has been previously removed by ICE on four prior occasions” and is a member of the Sureño street gang.

Other arrests include that of another Sureños gang member and other illegal immigrants with criminal convictions from Mexico and Guatemala throughout Northern California.

The arrests come in the days after Libby Schaaf, the Democratic mayor of Oakland, posted a press release to Twitter warning constituents illegal aliens in the sanctuary city that “multiple credible sources” told her ICE would be conducting a raid in the Bay Area as soon as Sunday.

Schaaf received swift backlash following her post, with many arguing over the legality of such a warning.

“The Oakland mayor’s decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased that risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens — making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda,” ICE Deputy Director Thomas Homan said in a statement Tuesday. “Unlike the politicians who attempt to undermine ICE’s critical mission, our officers will continue to fulfill their sworn duty to protect public safety.”

However, the mayor stood by her decision, saying she felt as though it was her “duty” to share the information. ICE officials told Fox News they’re asking the Department of Justice to look into whether Schaaf broke any laws by giving the warning.

Further details of ICE’s immediate activities in the Bay Area remain unclear, although the agency says 864 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions and other public safety threats “remain at large” in the area — two of whom are believed to be living in Oakland.

Homan believes Schaaf’s warning aided those illegal immigrants in eluding law enforcement.

Sanctuary in California: Illegal alien on the run after sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl

Illegal Rigoberto Arevalo Cubias

Illegal alien Cubias roaming free in sanctuary state California

Remember, illegal aliens are “all welcome in California.”

From CBS Los Angeles: An undocumented immigrant illegal alien from El Salvador suspected of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl in Fullerton was on the run Wednesday, police said.

Rigoberto Arevalo Cubias, 30, was identified as a suspect in what Fullerton police say was a “possible sexual assault” after officers responded to an “out of area” hospital back on Dec. 21.

Investigators later said Cubias – who is undocumented illegal may be in possession of a fraudulent California driver’s license – was suspected of engaging in sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child under the age of 10 years old.

Cubias has an outstanding $50,000 arrest warrant for a DUI from 2014 under the name “Jose Cubias” and police say he uses multiple aliases, including Jose Cubias, Jose Cubias Arevalo, Jose Riberto Cubias, and Jose Alfonso Cubias Arevalo.

Detectives say they believe that Cubias now knows he is wanted by police and is on the run from law enforcement. Cubias is believed to have ditched his car and cell phone in an attempt to elude authorities, according to police.

He’s described as a male Hispanic, approximately 5’7”, 185 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on Cubias is asked to call Fullerton PD Detective Carin Wright at (714) 738-6754 or anonymously call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1(855) TIP-OCCS. They may also visit the OC Crime Stoppers website.

Illegal alien injures two teenage girls in hit & run – had previous DUI arrests in the US

lara-lozano-illegal

From KETV (Omaha, NE): An undocumented immigrant illegal alien is behind bars Thursday night after Omaha police said he fled the scene of a hit-and-run crash on Feb. 4.

Investigators said 31-year-old Alejandro D Lara-Lozano was arrested Monday at a home in Omaha. They believe he was planning to head to Mexico.

Madison Reed, 16, and a friend were driving near Oak View Mall when the crash happened. OPD said Lara-Lozano slammed into her car head on and ran away. “I was just horrified, you know, at the condition of my granddaughter’s car … how they survived this accident I’ll never know,” said Joan Reed, Madison Reed’s grandmother.

KETV spoke with Joan Reed over the phone Thursday. She talked about the emotions she felt the day of the crash, learning the driver of the truck took off. “Very angry,” Reed said. “Thinking to myself, how can you just get out of your vehicle and then look at these girls, seeing the extent of the damage?”

According to court documents, a Facebook message from Lara-Lozano’s wife helped police identify him as the driver. The documents say she reached out to Joan Reed, telling her Lara-Lozano was driving that night and hiding in Illinois.

According to police documents, Lara-Lozano is an illegal immigrant. Joan Reed said she recently learned this news. “To us, it makes no difference who he is or where he’s from, whether he’s here legally or illegally,” Reed said. “That’s just not something that makes a difference to us at this point.”

Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine is aware of the case, with Lara-Lozano in court Wednesday. He’s now potentially awaiting deportation. “At this time, we made sure we connected with immigration and they have a hold on him for that purpose,” Kleine said Thursday.

As for Madison Reed, she is recovering from a shattered heel and fractured vertebra. A junior at Marion, she’ll now have to put her dancing on hold.  “She’s having some emotional struggles,” Joan Reed said. “She’s got some anger, she’s got some sadness, she’s just trying to kind of come to grips with all of it.”

The passenger in Madi’s car is also a junior at Marion. She’s since been released from the hospital. Lara-Lozano’s bond was set at $3 million. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 10.

According to KMTV, the illegal alien had 3 previous DUI arrests in Illinois and Iowa.

What a life of alcoholism did to David Cassidy

UPDATE (Nov. 22, 2017):

David Cassidy died yesterday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 67, from organ failure. It was announced earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with dementia. (Source)

Below is the post that I wrote nearly four years ago, in January 2014, which has been revisited by readers because of Cassidy’s declining health and death.

I hope this post may convince alcoholics to get help and so avoid the sad and wretched end that befell Cassidy. May he rest in peace.

Remember David Cassidy who played Keith Partridge in the 1970s TV series The Partridge Family?

Born on April 12, 1950, Cassidy was blessed with boyish good looks. Although he was 20 years old when The Partridge Family began, he convincingly played a teenager on the show.

Here he is in 1978, still boyish looking at age 28:

Below is David Cassidy’s mugshot, age 60, after he was arrested for DUI in Florida in Nov. 2010:

Less than 3 years later, this is what Cassidy looked like, age 63, when he was arrested again for DUI in upstate New York in Aug. 2013:

5 months later on Jan. 10, 2014, Cassidy was once again arrested for DUI in California — his third DUI.

This is what alcohol has done to David Cassidy (see before and after below). While age leaves its mark on all of us, the before and after pics seem to be of two entirely different men.

UPDATE (Jan. 15):

In an exclusive interview with the National Enquirer, David Cassidy’s stepdad Marty Ingels, who is married to Cassidy’s stepmom Shirley Jones, said David “got off easy the last time around. On the second DUI, he got some fancy lawyer and it was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor. This third DUI, believe it or not, actually changes the status of that second one. It brings it back up to a felony. So now he’s in real hot water! A lot of the family is praying that David goes to jail because they believe it’s the only way he can save his life. I think they feel David is too far down the road to addiction and alcoholism for rehab alone to help him anymore. Jail would be a godsend. David needs at least 120 days behind bars.”

Marty says Shirley, who helped raise David after marrying his father, Jack Cassidy, in 1956, is not surprised by her stepson’s struggles with the bottle. She had lived through this kind of alcoholic behavior with Jack Cassidy, who died on Dec. 12, 1976, after passing out and dropping a lit cigarette in his Los Angeles apartment. His body was burned beyond recognition.

Tequila will do that to you

Niles GammonsNiles Gammons

Niles Gammons of Urbana, Ohio, is a very special man.

Niles Gammons was arrested twice for DUI, at the same exact time in the early morning hours on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012.

Niles Gammons apparently did some partying in Urbana, Ohio, on Saturday night, November 3, 2012, because he managed a rare DUI
daily double.

He was first cited for DUI at 1:08 a.m. Sunday and then, 60 minutes later, he was again cited for DUI at 1:08 a.m.

The first was during Daylight Savings Time; the second was after the
changeover.

As reported by Dayton, Ohio’s WHIO-TV:

Chief Matt Lingrell explained that Niles Gammons of Urbana was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated at 1:08 a.m., then released with a summons to appear in court this week. An hour later, it was again 1:08 a.m. and police caught Gammons driving under the influence once again.

According to a statement from police, Sgt. David Reese observed Gammons driving the wrong way down a one-way alley in the 100 block of North Walnut Street. During his contact with Gammons, Reese determined he was driving impaired and had Gammons submit to field sobriety tests.

It was discovered that Gammons had pennies inside his mouth.

“It is a false myth that pennies will offset the results of a breath test,” Lingrell said in the release. Gammons was discovered to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit to drive.

He was issued citations for OVI, obstructing official business and minor misdemeanor drug abuse. He was placed under an administrative license suspension, ordered into court on Nov. 5 and released to the care of a responsible party.

Exactly one hour later, while on patrol in the municipal parking lot off of the 100 block of Miami Street, Sgt. Reese saw the same vehicle Gammons had been driving earlier back up suddenly from a parking spot. The vehicle almost collided with the police cruiser. Reese observed it was again 1:08 a.m. and it was Gammons driving.

“Gammons admitted that he knew he was under suspension from the previous arrest,” the release said.

He again was arrested for OVI and was transported to the Urbana Police Division, where he submitted to another breath test and was again found to be over the legal limit to drive.

He was issued a new citation for OVI and ordered to appear in court.

On Monday he appeared in Champaign County Municipal Court and a pre-trial hearing was set for Nov. 15.
