James Mattis is a rat

The dictionary defines the idiom “hit someone when he/she is down” as “To criticize, exploit, insult, or otherwise treat badly someone who has already suffered a setback or is in a vulnerable position.”

When a person is already being bludgeoned from all sides, that’s the time to strike your blow. It’s what a rat would do.

The New York Post reports June 3, 2020 that former Defense Secretary James Mattis unloaded on President Trump in a searing opinion piece, accusing him of abusing the powers of his office and of trying to divide the American people as our country is torn asunder by George Floyd riots, looting and burning, with police officers being attacked and killed.

In December 2018, Mattis the globalist resigned as defense secretary in protest of President Trump’s Syria policy because Trump wanted to pull U.S. military out of Syria, ISIS having been brought under some control.

Saying that he was “horrified” by the deployment of smoke cannisters and pepper balls against a mob at Lafayette Park outside the White House on Monday evening. Mattis called Trump’s defense of the White House “abuse of power.” He wrote in an op-ed published by The Atlantic on Wednesday:

“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people — does not even pretend to try. Instead he tries to divide us. We are witnessing the consequences of three years of this deliberate effort. We are witnessing the consequences of three years without mature leadership. I have watched this week’s unfolding events, angry and appalled.”

Mattis piously announced he supported the “wholesome and unifying” demands of demonstrators protesting the death of George Floyd across the nation. He wrote:

“When I joined the military, some 50 years ago, I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution. Never did I dream that troops taking that same oath would be ordered under any circumstance to violate the Constitutional rights of their fellow citizens — much less to provide a bizarre photo op for the elected commander-in-chief, with military leadership standing alongside. We know that we are better than the abuse of executive authority that we witnessed in Lafayette Square. We must reject and hold accountable those in office who would make a mockery of our Constitution.”

Mattis then called on Americans to reject the President’s calls for cities to be “dominated” by the National Guard — a sentiment shared by another rat, current Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who announced earlier Wednesday that he opposed the use of military to arrest protests and violence.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters Wednesday that the order to clear protesters came from Attorney General William Barr, and not the president. But Mattis clearly does not let facts stand in the way of his grandstanding and piling on.
