Illinois demorats seek to expand access to abortion via removal of parental notification and late-term abortions

What kind of adult believes it is a good idea for minors to have medical procedures without their parent’s consent? The baby-killing, pro-abort liberal kind…

As reported by MyFoxChicago: Illinois Democrats have introduced two measures that would expand abortion access in the state by removing a parental notification requirement and a ban on late-term abortions.

The proposed legislation was filed Wednesday, The Chicago Tribune reported. One bill sponsored by Democratic Rep. Emanuel Welch of Hillside would repeal the state’s parental notice law, which requires minors to notify a legal guardian before having an abortion.

The other bill would remove restrictions on late-term abortions, require private insurance companies in the state to cover abortions and allow advanced-practice nurses to perform the procedures.

“As a woman, a mother and someone who has been a longtime supporter of full access to reproductive care, from contraception, abortion, pregnancy and postpartum care, it is time to modernize and update these laws to reflect the equality of women in Illinois,” the bill’s sponsor, Democratic state Rep. Kelly Cassidy, of Chicago, said in a news release.

Mary Kate Knorr, who heads Illinois Right to Life, said the bills are “extreme” and “irresponsible.”

“This parental notification law is absolutely necessary,” she said. “There are women who are in abuse situations and are being trafficked that this law protects. This parental notification law is a checkpoint for abuse and human trafficking situations.”

A spokesman for Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker said he’s an advocate for women’s rights and is looking forward to reviewing the bills. Pritzker last month said he wanted to make Illinois “the most progressive state in the nation when it comes to standing up for women’s reproductive rights.”

Abortion rights are an important issue for Illinois residents, said Colleen K. Connell, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.

“What the new law would do is say we will treat women’s health care – whether it’s for abortion, birth control or maternity care – we’re going to treat that as health care, not as a crime, the way the old enjoined laws did,” Connell said.

Improper legal killing? Belgium launches first criminal investigation of euthanasia case

Try and process this statement: “Among Belgians euthanised for mental health reasons, the most common conditions are depression, personality disorder and Asperger’s.”

From The Guardian: Belgian officials are investigating whether doctors improperly euthanised a woman with autism, the first criminal investigation in a euthanasia case since the practice was legalised in 2002.

Three doctors from East Flanders are being investigated on suspicion of having “poisoned” Tine Nys in 2010. The 38-year-old had been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, a form of autism, two months before she died in an apparently legal killing by a doctor.

Belgium is one of two countries, along with the Netherlands, where euthanasia of people for psychiatric reasons is allowed if they can prove they have “unbearable and untreatable” suffering.

Among Belgians euthanised for mental health reasons, the most common conditions are depression, personality disorder and Asperger’s. Many experts – in Belgium and beyond– dispute whether autism should be considered a valid reason to be killed.

Last year, the Associated Press reported that after Nys’ family filed a criminal complaint, alleging numerous “irregularities” in her death, her doctors attempted to block the investigation.

“We must try to stop these people,” wrote Dr. Lieve Thienpont, the psychiatrist who approved Nys’ request to die – and one of the doctors now facing charges. “It is a seriously dysfunctional, wounded, traumatised family with very little empathy and respect for others,” the message read.

Sophie Nys, one of Tine’s sisters, told the AP that the doctor who performed the euthanasia asked her parents to hold the needle in place while he administered the fatal injection, among other fumbling efforts. Afterwards, the doctor asked the family to use a stethoscope to confirm that Tine’s heart had stopped.

Belgium’s chamber of indictment “presumes that there are sufficient indications in this particular case” and the doctors involved have been referred to the court of assize in Ghent. They will now face trial “due to poisoning”, said Francis Clarysse, a Ghent prosecutor.

Concerns have previously been raised about whether Thienpont, Nys’ psychiatrist, too easily approved euthanasia requests from patients with mental illness.

The AP previously published documents revealing a rift between Thienpont and Dr. Wim Distelmans, who heads Belgium’s euthanasia review commission. Distelmans voiced fears that Thienpont and colleagues may have failed to meet certain legal requirements in some euthanasia cases – and wrote that he would no longer accept referred patients from Thienpont.

In the 15 years since doctors were granted the right to legally kill patients, more than 10,000 people have been euthanised. Only one case has previously been referred to prosecutors; that case was later dropped.

This is socialized medicine: UK parents not allowed to take their son to the US for treatment

charlie gard and family
The parents must let their child “die with dignity.”
From Daily Mail: Members of Charlie Gard’s army of supporters across the globe have expressed their grief as his parents prepare for his life support to be turned off today (Friday).
People all over the world have been using the hashtag #JeSuisCharlieGard’ to celebrate the ten-month-old’s life before it is ended by his doctors later.
Connie Yates and Chris Gard are at their son’s bedside in Great Ormond Street Hospital today as he enters his final hours.
But they continue to receive unwavering support from thousands who donated £1.4million towards the treatment denied to him.
His parents are believed to be Catholic and their unwell son was photographed recently clutching a St. Jude pendant – the patron saint of lost causes.
As a result his plight has had mass press coverage in Italy and even reached the Vatican where Pope Francis was asked to pray for Charlie.  Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, head of the Pope’s Pontifical Academy for Life was quoted as saying: ‘We should never act with the deliberate intention to end a human life, including the removal of nutrition and hydration, so that death might be achieved’.
Catholic groups across called the decision to end Charlie’s care ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘draconian’ with vigils held for the little British boy in various Italian cities last night.
And in Britain others have taken to Twitter to vent their anger at Great Ormond Street with some promising to end their charitable donations over their treatment of Charlie.
Connie Yates and Chris Gard told MailOnline yesterday that his ‘heartless’ doctors who have refused to let him come home to die today.
The couple’s ‘final wish’ for Charlie has been blocked and his mother Connie said in a video for MailOnline: ‘We promised our little boy every single day that we would take him home’.
Mr. Gard added: ‘We want to give him a bath at home, put him in a cot which he has never slept in but we are now being denied that. We know what day our son is going to die but don’t get a say in how that will happen.’
They have also released a heartbreaking photograph of them lying with Charlie between them and said they were ‘spending our last precious hours with our baby boy’.
And they also the so-called ‘Charlie’s Army’ who donated £1.4million for the US treatment being denied to him and told them: ‘Charlie will die tomorrow knowing that he was loved by thousands – thank you to everyone for all your support’.
The couple have also accused Great Ormond Street of trying to ‘rush’ his death despite promises they would have the time they needed to say goodbye to their only son.
Connie Yates and Chris Gard had battled to take their son, who has a rare genetic condition, to undergo experimental treatment in the US. But earlier this week they reached the very end of their legal battle after the European Court of Human Rights backed British doctors who said it would be kinder to let the ten month old die.
In a heartbreaking video taken in the hospital room where they have lived since their son was admitted to hospital last year, the couple open their hearts speaking for the first time since they were told the European Court verdict.
Ms. Yates said:  ‘We’ve been talking about what palliative care meant. One option was to let Charlie go home to die. We chose to take Charlie home to die. That is our last wish. We promised our little boy every single day that we would take him home.’
His father Chris, 32, said: ‘Our parental rights have been stripped away. We can’t even take our own son home to die. We’ve been denied that. Our final wish if it all went against us can we take our little boy home to die and we are not allowed. They even said no to a hospice.
The couple, who have previously lost battles in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, claim they also asked doctors to allow them a final weekend with Charlie but say this request has been denied. ‘We begged them to give us the weekend,’ Ms Yates said, ‘Friends and family wanted to come and see Charlie for the last time. But now there isn’t even time for that. Doctors said they would not rush to turn off his ventilator but we are being rushed. Not only are we not allowed to take our son to an expert hospital to save his life, we also can’t choose how or when our son dies.
The couple say they also offered to pay privately for their son to be transported on a mobile ventilator to their flat in Bedfond, southwest London, in order to spend a few last precious hours with him.
Connie Yates, 31, has indicated that the £1.3m raised for Charlie will be used to save other children and a foundation could be set up in his name.  Miss Yates said in April: ‘A few people have asked us what we’ll do if we don’t win the court case.  We have thought long and hard about it and we would set up a charity for mitochondrial depletion syndromes (there are others that are more common than Charlie’s specific gene)’, she said in a statement which was posted on the website but has now been taken down.
‘We’d like to save other babies and children because these medications have been proven to work and we honestly have so much belief in them. If Charlie doesn’t get this chance, we will make sure that other innocent babies and children will be saved. We would like some of it to go to research at the specific hospital that is willing to treat Charlie, and the rest will be available to help other families to get the medication that their children desperately need. We hope that you can all support us in making treatments available so that nobody else ever has to go through what we have.
GoFundMe said officials would also have discussions with Charlie’s parents about what would happen to money raised for treatment.
But Connie said: ‘Even though we offered to pay for him to be transported back home, doctors have now told us he must die in hospital. We offered to pay for transport privately but that’s not an option.’
A spokesperson for Great Ormond Street Hospital said: ‘As with all of our patients, we are not able to and nor will we discuss these specific details of care. This is a very distressing situation for Charlie’s parents and all the staff involved and our focus remains with them.’

'Embryo jewelry' made from cremated IVF-conceived human embryos

Every year, untold numbers of human babies are killed, not via abortion while still in their mothers’ wombs, but as “excess” IVF-conceived embryos.
IVF is in vitro fertilization, a type of assisted reproductive technology used for infertility treatment, wherein an egg is fertilized with sperm outside the woman’s body, thus in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory process, removing an egg or eggs from the woman’s ovaries, and letting sperm fertilize them in a liquid in a laboratory. The fertilized egg is cultured for 2–6 days in a growth medium and is then transferred to the uterus of the same or another woman, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy.

To maximize their chances of a successful pregnancy, women who undergo IVF typically have more than one egg fertilized.
What to do with the leftover embryos if the woman has successfully carried one or more pregnancies to term? The methods of disposal include:

  1. Donating the excess embryos to other women or couples as a means of third party reproduction.
  2. Freezing the embryos indefinitely, which cost money. The Rand Consulting Group has estimated there to be 400,000 frozen embryos in the United States.
  3. Donating excess embryos for research, typically embryonic stem cell research, which effectively means the embryos are killed.
  4. Outright destroying, i.e., killing, the excess embryos via burial or cremation.

A small Australian company, the cutesy-named Baby Bee Hummingbirds, has figured out a way to make money from those women who opt for Method No. 4, by turning cremated human embryos into jewelry.
Kevin Jones reports for CNA, May 5, 2017, that an Australian mothers’ website Kidspot recounts the story of a couple who had conceived three children, including twins, but faced financial strain in paying for the annual storage of the leftover embryos. So they turned to Baby Bee Hummingbirds.
Families send the jeweler IVF straws containing the embryos, which are cremated into embryo ash, which is then incorporated into the jewelry, like the heart-shaped pendants below.

Since 2014, Baby Bee Hummingbirds has made 50 pieces of jewelry with embryos. The company also makes jewelry using breastmilk, placenta, hair, ashes, and umbilical cord stumps. The pieces cost from $80 to $600.
Baby Bee Hummingbirds founder Amy McGlade said, “I don’t believe there is any other business in the world that creates jewelry from human embryos, and I firmly believe that we are pioneering the way in this sacred art, and opening the possibilities to families around the world. It’s special because the embryos are often signifying the end of a journey, and we are providing a beautiful and meaningful way to gently close the door. Reactions from families who understand the journey are amazing and heartfelt. They are so grateful for our service. at a better way to celebrate your most treasured gift, your child, than through jewelry? It’s about the everlasting tangible keepsake of a loved one that you can have forever.”
Jennifer Lahl, the founder and president of the California-based Center for Bioethics and Culture, disagrees.
Lahl said, “I have no words. I have no category for who would think this would be something good to do. It’s so undignified that these embryos have been destroyed to become jewelry. I thought, ‘My gosh, it really has hit rock-bottom’. If anything it creates even more complex ethical problems, a new novel way of disrespecting human life.”
Lahl, who has a background as a pediatric critical care nursing and hospital administration, has long been a critic of IVF, which she sees as symptomatic of parents who think they have “a right to pursue that child at whatever cost, and at whatever manner. It loses sight of the fact that children are intended to be gifts and blessings, not something we have a right to.”
Lahl believes that “creating life and calling it surplus” is “an undignified view of early, nascent human life,” and that the solution to “excess” embryos is to stop creating surplus embryos: “The solution is to stop freezing human embryos, so that parents aren’t left with these ethical dilemmas of what to do with them when they decide they don’t want any more children.”
Lahl said that people considering IVF should have the facts on what is really involved in reproductive technology. “People are uninformed about the risk of these technologies, the ethics of using these technologies and all the problems that come about.” In-vitro fertilization is “fraught with ethical problems” due to the health risks to the mother, the conceived children, the cost, and the way in which the use of medicine creates more problems, rather than treats and heals conditions. “Most of the people who enter into the assisted reproductive technology enterprise don’t get a baby. Overwhelmingly, IVF cycles fail.” Typically, it costs six figures to successfully conceive and bear a child through IVF.
The Catholic Church stresses that all human life – including those in the embryonic state – have an invaluable human dignity. Catholic teaching opposes IVF.
Although she is not Catholic, Lahl said “I think the Catholic Church has gotten these issues quite right. If you really look at the evidence and the medical literature, it will only reinforce the teaching of the Catholic Church.”
Kidspot cited one woman who had seven cremated embryos turned into a heart-shaped pendant through Baby Bee Hummingbirds. She said: “I’d heard others had planted them in the garden but we move a lot, so I couldn’t do this. I needed them with me. My embryos were my babies – frozen in time. When we completed our family, it wasn’t in my heart to destroy them. Now they are forever with me in a beautiful keepsake.”
But readers of the CNA article observe that making human embryos into jewelry is no different than the Nazis making lampshades from human skin, or the Hindu goddess Kali adorning herself in a necklace of human skulls.

Don't waste your money: Hollyweird movie "Me Before You" isn't "romantic"

The Hollyweird movie, Me Before You, recently opened and is described as a “romantic drama” film. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by author Jojo Moyes, who is an English journalist and romance novelist.

Author Jojo Moyes

Author Jojo Moyes

According to Life News, the movie stars Emilia Clarke as Lou Clark, a woman who accepts a job as caregiver for young quadriplegic Will Traynor (Sam Claflin). Billed as a romantic comedy, the film shows the two falling in love and ends with Will choosing death before a life with Lou. While disability activists and most media reviewers slammed the plot, some critics (from AP to Vanity Fair) still praised and cried over the “romantic” film that they described as a “mixture of classic romantic movies of the past.”
You can read the whole movie plot (with spoilers) here at Life News.
mebeforeyou
Wikipedia describes the controversy surrounding this film: “The film has suffered a backlash from many people in the disabled community due to what they perceive as an underlying message that people with disabilities are a burden on their families and careers, and claim the film promotes the view that people are better off dead than disabled. They view the film as advocating suicide so that their loved ones can “live boldly”. The #MeBeforeEuthanasia backlash has been led by celebrities with disabilities; Liz Carr, Penny Pepper, and Cherylee Houston.
This hasn’t stopped the media from promoting this “romance” and human euthanasia story.

Life News notes the reactions of some in the media:
“As Vanity Fair critic Richard Lawson reviewed the “pleasant and sad little movie” containing “wit and style,” he argued that assisted suicide was the film’s greatest strength.”
“For Rolling Stone, movie critic Peter Travers wrote about the “four-hankie tearjerker.” While he accused the film of being a “sob story that will go down easy at the box office,” he argued that “you can’t blame audiences too much for being seduced by two shining young stars in a movie romance that hits the spot, bitter and sweet.”
“Even feminist site Bustle recommended bringing tissues to the theater. Writer Olivia Truffaut-Wong couldn’t gush enough over the film. “If you don’t leave Me Before You with red eyes and a sniffling nose, then either you hate crying in public, or you weren’t paying attention during the movie,” she began before arguing that “the movie is probably best described as a mixture of classic romantic movies of the past.”
Another Hollyweird movie I will not be seeing.

Medical facilities are killing non-terminally ill patients by withholding food & water

It’s bad enough that euthanasia of the terminally-ill is now legal in states like Oregon and California, a hospital and a hospice are deliberately killing non-terminally ill patients by withholding food and water, à la what they did to Terri Schiavo.
culture of death
The following is a June 6 email from Life Legal Defense Foundation:

Life Legal received two distressing phone calls on Sunday.
One was from the niece of an elderly woman who is in the hospital following an injury. The woman has slight dementia, but is able to communicate. The hospital decided it would no longer treat her, as care was “futile” because of the woman’s dementia. The woman’s niece tried to get a court order to keep her aunt alive, but the judge refused—and slandered the niece’s Catholic faith in the process. Yesterday, the hospital withdrew food and hydration from the woman.
Did you know that dementia is considered a terminal illness? And that food and hydration are considered “medical care” that can be withdrawn if a physician believes your condition won’t improve over time? In this case, the woman’s dementia is not severe—she still recognizes her niece and the hospital staff—yet because it will likely not get better, her doctors sentenced her to an agonizing death.
The second call was from the boyfriend of a 30-year-old woman who suffered a brain injury after she went into cardiac arrest. She is in a hospice facility that has not given her any nutrition for over a week. A few days ago, she started talking! She said that she is hungry and is asking for food. She is able to pull herself up and move her legs. She sings along to her favorite songs. Yet, the hospice refuses to feed her and is now giving her morphine because she tried to get out of bed.
We have calls out to local attorneys to help this young woman. Please pray that someone will be able to intervene tomorrow!

Nurse killed 96 patients in a year because they were annoying

A nurse may be one of the world’s most prolific serial killers.
Her name is Daniela Poggiali, 42, and she does her killing on the job, in a hospital in the small city of Lugo, Italy, not out of mercy because the patients were dying, but because she found them annoying.
Daniela Poggiali
Nicholas Farrell reports for Newsweek, Dec. 19, 2014, that Poggiali, nicknamed “The Angel of Death,” is in jail in Italy under investigation for the murder of up to 96 patients in the course of a single year in the 30-bed general medicine ward at the Umberto I hospital in the small city of Lugo, between Bologna and Ravenna in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. That’s one death every three days between April 2013 and April 2014. If found guilty of killing all those patients, she will be one of the most prolific serial killers in history.
The dubious record of the most prolific serial killer is currently held by the Colombian Luis Garavito, whose victims, it was proven, were 138 children, murdered over a five-year period during the 1990s. The record for the greatest number of murders committed by a nurse is held by an American, Charles Cullen, who was given six life sentences in 2006 for the murder of 40 patients (though he was suspected of causing up to 400 deaths) in New Jersey and Pennsylvania over a 16-year period.

What makes the case of Daniela Poggiali especially chilling is her motive: whereas some doctors or nurses kill their patients for reasons of mercy – as Cullen did, or at least claimed to have done – Daniela Poggiali is believed to have killed her patients simply because they irritated her. She had also allegedly given them laxatives, which made them incontinent, and even had photographs taken of herself next to the corpse of one of her patients on her smartphone, which she posted online. In some of them, taken in January 2014 by another nurse, she is laughing and making lewd gestures next to the corpse of an old lady, who had just died in her ward. In one, she is leaning over the corpse grinning and making a thumbs-up sign. In the other, she is lying down next to the corpse with her mouth open, pointing a finger at her face as if it were a gun.

Poggiali qualified as a nurse 17 years ago and for the last 12 has worked at the Umberto I hospital in Lugo. Hospital bosses only became suspicious of Poggiali in March 2014, after the unexplained deaths of five patients who died in the space of a week during night shifts when she was working more or less alone on her ward. They did not call the police but moved her to day shifts in order to keep a closer eye on her. Three days later, on the morning of April 8, another patient died under Poggiali’s care — 78-year-old Rosa Calderoni.

Calderoni’s daughter, Manuela Alci, who was present that morning, said she was told to leave the room while Poggiali gave medication to her mother. Ten minutes later, Manuela was allowed back into the room and noticed that her mother’s eyes were rolling uncontrollably and that she had a glass tube inserted in her arm like a drip which had not been there before. Then, while she was holding her hand, her mother died.

Steve Ertelt reports for LifeNews, Dec. 23, 2014, that under Italian law, killing a patient through direct euthanasia with an overdose of drugs is illegal. In the case of Poggiali, that law doesn’t apply because she didn’t claim that she killed her patients because she saw that they were in pain or were suffering. She simply didn’t want to deal with them anymore and killing was a quick fix.
It was reported in the Italian paper, Corrieredella Sera, that colleagues of Poggiali had overheard her saying things like, “Leave it to me, I’ll quiet them.” Known to be cynical and a vindictive nurse, Poggiali also would deliberately give laxatives to patients at the end of the day so that other nurses would have to deal with the effects.
Poggiali has denied killing anyone and insists she’s being framed but investigators said they found incriminating pictures of Poggiali posing with patients who had just died.
Lead prosecutor Alessandron Mancini said that Poggiali seemed “unperturbed” when she was arrested. Mancini said, “I can assure you in that all my professional years of seeing shocking photos, there were few such as these.” He also said that homicide will be difficult to prove since potassium chloride is hard to detect after a few days in the bloodstream.
While the case of Daniela Poggiali is horrific, her justification of murdering patients because they’re annoying is not that uncommon in the medical community.
As an example, infamous bioethics professor, Peter Singer, maintains medical professionals should be permitted to lethally inject Alzheimer’s “non-persons,” even if they never asked to be killed. Singer also favors not just abortion, but after-birth abortion or infanticide, as well as bestiality when the animal isn’t harmed. He has admitted that if his mother, who has Alzheimer’s, were in his care (instead of his sister’s), his mother might not be alive today.

Peter Singer, bioethicist

Bobby Schindler, the brother of Terri Schiavo, explains in his article, “Yes, We Have a Culture of Death“:

“Tragically, too many of us today have become disconnected and desensitized to our own dignity and intrinsic worth. It seems we no longer know how to love, and we place more significance and value on what a person can or cannot do, instead of understanding the value and dignity of the human person, simply because they are human.”

We have met the Halloween monsters, and they are us

monster
Today is Halloween.
Three years ago, I wrote this in my post, “Sick Halloween“:

When did Halloween morph from a holiday for little kiddies into an obsession with the morbid, the macabre, the grotesque, and the demonic? […] All living things have the instinct to live, which expresses itself in our natural attraction to the life-affirming beauty of nature — of flora, fauna, animals, sea and sky — and a concomitant revulsion toward death.

But our society seems increasingly fixated on exactly the opposite — Thanatos — morbid images of decay, psychopathy, and death. Have you noticed the ubiquity of the skull, even in women’s fashion and baby clothes?

See also DCG’s post, “People PAY for this: ‘Extreme’ haunted house is the stuff of nightmares“.
In his insightful book, Monsters From the Id: The Rise of Horror in Fiction and Film, Dr. E. Michael Jones’ thesis is that our culture’s obsession with horror and the macabre is a result of our denial and suppression of morality. Horror is a product of a guilty conscience that will not admit its own wrongdoing. Individually and as a culture, we can escape the eternal dynamic of horror only by acknowledging the demands of an objective moral order.
In other words, Americans’ enthrallment with horror, which reaches its apogee at Halloween, is the product of our suppression and denial of an objective and transcendent morality — that there are such things as right and wrong, good and evil, irrespective of our self-serving proclivities rationalized as “moral relativism.”
Any psychologist can tell you what happens when something is suppressed: It inevitably “bubbles up” from the subterranean depths of our subconscious and “projected” outward. Our projection of the denied and suppressed morality is expressed as a morbid fascination with the macabre — with fictitious zombies and vampires, and Hollywood’s Texas chain-saw psychopaths.
But all along, the monsters are inside us: We have met the monsters, and they are us.
You want to see Halloween horror? Here’s a real-life horror that’s taking place in America.
It’s not enough that in the 40 years since Roe v. Wade, more than 54.5 million American babies were murdered through abortion — a figure that’s more than the population of many countries, such as South Africa (pop. 51.77 million).
It’s not enough that we have in America today so-called doctors like Kermit Gosnell who abort kill babies by twisting their heads off.
There are women in America today — where abortion is legal and available at your neighborhood Planned Parenthood — who give birth and then kill their babies or abandon them to die from starvation and exposure.
Winona Sheriff Dave Brand is haunted by a dead baby found floating in a bag in the Mississippi River near Winona two years ago on Sept. 5, 2011. The tiny infant was nicknamed “Angel Baby” because of angel statues that were found inside the bag in which someone had stuffed the still alive baby.
On April 7, 2012, Sheriff Brand and his wife Pamela gave “Angel Baby” a baptism, a funeral service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and a proper burial that was attended by other law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Angel Baby burialWinona County Sheriff’s Department honorary pallbearers carry Angel Baby’s 2-foot coffin to the burial site at Woodlawn Cemetery, April 7,
2012, in Winona, Minn.

Then there’s the Victoria’s Secret dead baby.
On October 16, 2013, a 17-year-old single mother of a two-year-old, Tiona Rodriguez, was detained at a Victoria’s Secret store in mid-town Manhattan for suspected shoplifting. The store associate found a $44.50 pair of skinny jeans in Rodriquez’s canvass bag, together with a black plastic bag that emitted a “strong odor.” Rodriguez’s bag contained a dead baby.

Tiona Rodriguez

Tiona Rodriguez’s pic from her Facebook page

Rodriguez reportedly told police that she had suffered a miscarriage when she was six months pregnant and had not known what to do with the fetus. But the medical examiner determined that the baby had been born alive, nearly full term at eight months, and that the cause of death may have been asphyxiation.

John Jalsevac writes for LifeSiteNews, Oct 17, 2013, that that Victoria’s Secret baby is just the tip of a disturbing trend:

[…] what if I told you that this sort of thing is happening routinely, all across the country, as well as in other parts of the world? And that the only reason that it’s making national headlines this time is because the discovery of the baby’s body was at a Victoria Secret store, which gives the story that extra bizarre twist, with just a hint of weird sexuality, that will grab attention?

Take a look at the following list…which is far from complete. I’ve simply compiled some of the most shocking, and most recent incidents. Here are the incidents in just the past eight months or so:

  • October 17 – A 17-year-old girl is stopped at a Victoria’s Secret store in Manhattan for suspected shoplifting, and admits that in her bag she has the body of a baby that she gave birth to the day previous.
  • October 11 – A newborn baby is found, bleeding but alive, with part of his umbilical cord still attached, abandoned on the concrete in the back yard of a house in Queen’s, New York. The baby survived.
  • September 19 – The body of a baby is found at a garbage dump in West Yorkshire, in the United Kingdom.
  • August 28 – A woman gives birth in a bar bathroom in Pennsylvania, stuffs the baby in the water tank of a toilet, and then returns to the bar to watch a fight on TV. The body was subsequently discovered by the bar owner.
  • August 7 – The body of a baby is discovered at hospital rest room in Texas.
  • July 9 – Police discover the body of a baby abandoned in a diaper box in the bushes at a public park in Roseville, California.
  • June 21 – The body of a small baby is found in a solid waste tank in a waste disposal plant just north of Montreal. Police say the baby was likely flushed down the toilet.
  • June 21  – The body of a newborn baby is discovered in a trash can in Oildale, California.
  • June 20 – An Iraqi-born UK woman is found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm after stuffing her baby in a garbage bag and throwing her down a 44 ft. garbage chute.
  • June 14 – A garbage truck driver in Thailand sees a small hand emerge from a garbage bag during a pickup. The baby had a balloon tied around her throat.
  • June 12 – Brittany Cole is arrested in Altheimer, Arkansas, after dumping her infant son in the trash can. She reportedly told police that she was tired of caring for the baby and could no longer do so.
  • June 5 – Twenty-seven-year-old Virginia resident Shavaughn Robinson is charged after allegedly giving birth in a toilet, then placing her daughter in a trash can, and then taking the garbage bag with the baby in it out of the can and tossing it in a dumpster.
  • June 4 – A dog discovers a living baby in Thailand that had been placed in a white plastic bag in a dump. The baby, which was premature, survived.
  • May 30 – Police announce that charges will not be filed against a Kansas teen who gave birth and dumped the body of her baby in a trash can. The teen claimed the baby was stillborn.
  • May 27 – Video footage of firefighters in Jinhua, China, rescuing a baby who had become stuck in a sewage pipe, rockets around the globe. The baby’s mother apparently gave birth on the toilet, and by her own account “accidentally” flushed the baby down the toilet. The mom reportedly hid the pregnancy because the baby was not considered legal under China’s brutal One-Child Policy.
  • May 2 – Cherlie Lafleur, 19, is arrested in Pennsylvania after allegedly attempting to flush her newborn baby down the toilet at her school. When that didn’t work, she reportedly deposited the body in the trash can.
  • Dec. 10, 2012 – The body of a newborn baby is discovered on the conveyor belt of a garbage sorting facility in La Puente, California.

I’ve been working in the news business for nearly 10 years, and I can’t ever recall a similar string of incidents. […]

So why is this happening all over the place? Good question. Last month, a prominent Catholic deacon speculated that the rash of such incidents signals the return of the ancient pagan practice of “exposure,” in which parents would simply leave their unwanted newborn babies on a rock or in the wild to die. “It was the Christians who saved [these babies] and transformed those cultures from cultures of death into cultures of life,” wrote Deacon Keith Fournier. However, he said, the rise of the abortion culture seems to be bringing the custom back in an unofficial form, with numerous gruesome stories emerging in recent months of parents unceremoniously discarding their newborn children. “These contemporary examples substitute a trash can or a dumpster for the rock,” Fournier wrote. But, he said, this trend isn’t surprising, since “babies are treated as trash” in abortion clinics across the country.

It’s hard to argue with that logic. Take a look at these other recent incidents:

  • May 14, 2013 – Three former workers at a Texas abortion clinic run by abortionist Douglas Karpen step forward alleging that babies are routinely murdered after being born alive during failed late-term abortions at Karpen’s clinic.  One of Karpen’s former assistants said the abortionist would even “twist” the babies heads off.
  • May 13 – Kermit Gosnell is found guilty of murdering three babies born alive during failed abortions by “snipping” their spinal cords. His former employees alleged that “hundreds” of babies were killed in this way. In some cases their dismembered feet were kept in jars, or their bodies stuffed into plastic containers and stored in the clinic freezer.
  • May 8, 2013 – Live Action release undercover footage of renowned late-term abortionist Leroy Carhart telling a woman seeking an abortion that after he kills the baby in her womb, it will soften up like “meat in a crock pot,” before the body of the baby is removed three days later.
  • April 29, 2013 – Live Action releases undercover footage of a worker at a late-term abortion facility telling a woman seeking an abortion to just “flush it” if the baby is accidentally born alive during the abortion. “If it comes out, then it comes out. Flush it…if anything, you know, put it in a bag or something or somewhere and bring it to us,” the counselor says.
  • April 19, 2013 – A former employee of late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell testfies in court how on one occasion a fully formed baby was born alive into a toilet. Kareema Cross said the baby was making “swimming motions” as if it was trying to get out. Another of Gosnell’s employees, Adrienne Moton, then took the baby out of the toilet, and slit its spinal cord.

Then we have the students at George Mason University (GMU) in Washington, D.C., who were captured on camera on July 24, 2013 signing a petition “demanding” that lawmakers legalize “fourth trimester” abortions.
In other words, they want to legalize infanticide. (See “Americans sign petitions to kill old people and newborn babies”)

And so as Americans “celebrate” the pagan holiday of Halloween by dressing ourselves as monsters and watching horror movies, just remember that the real monsters are all around and inside us.

Aborting a 27-week-old baby is just like a flu shot

[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipV4OYnlMDA]

Years ago, after the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision, wise people have warned that legalizing the murder of unborn human persons will transform America into a Culture of Death, wherein we increasingly lose our empathy and become callous and indifferent to degradation, suffering, and killing.

Here’s a grotesque example.

Abortion doctor Carmen LandauAbortion “doctor” Carmen Landau

Steven Ertelt reports for LifeNews, June 13, 2013:

A new undercover video shows a New Mexico-based abortion practitioner telling a woman considering an abortion that killing a 27-week old baby is no different than getting a flu shot.

The pro-life group Live Action has released the latest in a series of videos exposing late-term abortion practitioners showing no compassion over killing babies late in pregnancy. In this new video, Dr. Carmen Landau, of Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a counselor employed at the same facility, are shown making shocking statements.

southwestern women's option

When asked by the Live Action investigator, “Is it a baby?,” the counselor answers:

Well what – how – what do you consider a baby?  It’s definitely a fetus. … Um, it depends what the term “baby” means to you, and how you perceive it.

When asked if the possibility of the pre-born baby feeling pain bothers her, the New Mexico counselor replies:

I feel that it’s, um, necessary for the procedure to happen and, ultimately, um, safest, and kind of the most, kinda, humane way to do it, you know?

Abortion doctor Carmen Landau tells the investigator that the injection that will kill her baby is “like any shot, you know, like a flu shot, or a vaccine, really.” Contrary to a large body of evidence, she alleges that babies in the womb do not feel pain or anguish from a poisonous injection, claiming that “it’s not like you and I [sic] where when we get a flu shot, we’re kind of, ‘Ugh!’ – not – that – that – that experience of anxiety and suffering is not – it [the baby]‘s not capable of.”

Lila Rose, President of Live Action, says she hopes to educate the nation on the true nature of abortion.

“These babies,” said Rose, “whom Carmen Landau calls ‘not a thinking being,’ are unique and precious human persons. They feel, they dream, they grow…and when an abortionist tries to kill them with a needle or with forceps, they react. They fight for their lives, just as any of us would. Our investigation has exposed the disturbing willingness of abortionists to engage in illegal and inhuman acts, including misleading pregnant women, pushing them into abortion, and even infanticide. This is horrible, but Americans should know just as well the horrifying practices that are still legal, that we allow to happen every day.”

The first half of Live Action’s latest video details abortionists’ estimation of the humanity of the unborn child. Abortionist Laura Mercer assures the investigator that her 24-week baby “doesn’t even look like a baby yet.” Live Action provides several images of premature babies born as early as 23 weeks.

The Live Action video chronicles the story of Toby, a baby born prematurely at 24 weeks – the gestational age of the organization’s pregnant investigators’ babies at the time of many of the undercover investigations. “Toby puts a name and a face to the atrocious murders occurring in these facilities,” Rose said. “Every day, abortionists are brutally killing children just like him. Whether they’re called ‘fetuses’ or ‘babies,’ this fact doesn’t change, and it’s time for Americans to come to terms with it.”

“What our video investigation is uncovering,” Rose said, “along with what we have learned from the trial of late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell and from the whistle-blowers from Douglas Karpen’s facility, is that this is abuse. Abortion doctors, counselors, and other staff describe ‘stop[ping] the fetal heart,’ a needle being inserted through the baby’s head, an ‘intrauterine demise.’  They describe babies becoming ‘mushy,’ and how they ‘literally go in and grab and pull pieces out.’ They refer to these babies as human beings, and carry out these inhuman practices on them anyway.”

“Every human being is unique and precious from the moment of conception. But abortionists will not give even these babies – 24 weeks, 27 weeks, viable, capable of surviving outside the womb – the dignity of humanity. So we want to put the question in every American’s head: if not even these babies are worthy of humanity in the abortionist’s eyes, then what is human? What does ‘human’ even mean?”

End of LifeNews article.

The abortion of a 27-week-old unborn baby is a late term abortion — as are all abortions after the 20th week of gestation. In 2003, late-term abortions finally became unlawful in the United States when the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (PBABA) was signed into law.

But Pres. Lucifer (and FLPOS Michelle, too) not only approves of partial-birth abortion, he three-times voted against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002 – a federal law, signed by President George W. Bush, which extends legal protection to an infant born alive after a failed attempt at induced abortion. (Read more: “Obama is evil.”)

House Approves Ban on Federally Funded Abortions

Here’s my retort to all the super cynics who say there’s no difference between the Right and the Left:
Elections do make a difference. The Conservatives voted into Congress last November are making a difference. Yesterday, the House of Representatives voted to ban federally funded abortions.
As reported by Pete Kasperowicz of The Hill, May 5, 2011:

The House Wednesday evening passed a bill that would permanently ban the use of federal funds on elective abortion procedures, over repeated Democratic objections that the bill goes too far by enforcing this ban through the tax code.

The House approved the bill, H.R. 3, in a 251-175 vote. Every Republican voted for it, as did 16 Democrats.

Republicans cast the bill as a simple codification of the Hyde Amendment, which has been approved as a rider to various appropriations bills over the last few decades. They also said Americans support the idea of ensuring that no taxpayer funds are used for abortions.

“Thank you” to the 16 Democrats who have a conscience.
Just think, if we had voted a conservative majority into the US Senate as well, this bill would become law.
