How can this be happening? Mass shooting in California at “celebration of life” event

California has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. This includes age restrictions, gun registration, limit on ammunition purchases and red flag laws.

Last year Governor Newsom signed into law an additional 15 new gun control laws. He said at the time: “Gun violence is an epidemic in this country, one that’s been inflamed by the inaction of politicians in Washington. While Washington has refused to act on even the most basic gun safety reforms, California is once again leading the nation in passing meaningful gun safety reforms.”

How’s that gun control working in California? Yesterday’s headline: 1 Killed and 5 Injured, Including 7-Year-Old Girl, in Shooting at California Family’s ‘Celebration of Life’ Party.”

Details from Yahoo:

“A shooter fired multiple rounds at a gathering of people at an apartment in Tulare, Calif. on Wednesday night, killing one and injuring five others, including a 7-year-old child, according to police.

Tulare Police Sgt. Ed Hinojosa said during a press conference that the suspect opened fire at a “party or some type of celebration of life going on for somebody who was buried today that was apparently involved in a car accident a few days ago.” He added that there were about 50 to 60 people present.

A 23-year-old man has died and five others were injured: two men, two women and the 7-year-old girl, police have confirmed. The girl was being treated for multiple gunshot wounds and had been transported to Valley Children’s Hospitals. As of Thursday morning, no updates on her condition have been provided. The police department did not immediately respond to a request to comment from TIME.

As mourners left the apartment, the shooter approached a group outside in a front driveway, and opened fire. “We were all dancing, listening to music and drinking and the only thing I remember is hearing one shot, and then after that we heard like 10 rounds,” an eyewitness told ABC7 News. “Then everyone dropped to the floor and then we just heard screaming. Then after that everyone ran inside.”

“There was blood everywhere,” another eyewitness told local newspaper The Visalia Times Delta.

Hinojosa said police arrived to a “chaotic” scene after receiving several calls around 10:30 p.m. reporting multiple gunshots fired. He did not elaborate on a description of the shooter, but speculated that the incident could be gang-related.”

Strict gun-controlled Chiraq: “Eruption” of gun violence in February

How’s Mayor Lightfoot’s “grand plan” to address gun violence going? Just as one with common sense would expect…

From MyFoxChicago: Overall crime in Chicago decreased in February 2020 compared to the same month last year despite an eruption of gun violence, according to statistics released by Chicago police.

Murders and shootings reported last month in Chicago were up from February 2019, police said in a statement Sunday. The 34 homicides reported in February were a 41% increase from the 24 reported the same month last year, while the 137 shooting incidents were a 25% increase compared to 109 in 2019.

So far in 2020, 68 murders were recorded in Chicago, police said. The number of shooting incidents came in at 274, with a total of 325 victims. The Sun-Times has also counted 68 homicides this year within city limits.

Last month’s gun violence included two mass shootings. The first was on Valentine’s Day when someone shot six people at an apartment in Parkway Gardens. On Feb. 25, one person was killed and four others were wounded when three males opened fire into an Avalon Park convenience store.

February also saw a weekend in which 11 kids were wounded by gunfire — at least three of them in accidental shootings. The weekend before that was the deadliest February weekend in almost 20 years with nine people killed in citywide shootings.

Meanwhile, more than 1,500 illegal guns were seized by officers so far in 2020, an increase of about 100 from the same period last year, police said. Of those seizures, 81 were assault weapons.

Overall violent crime — including murders, robberies, burglaries, thefts and motor vehicle thefts —were down by 3%, police said. Thefts saw a 13% decrease and burglaries dropped by 9% compared to the same period last year.

Lightfoot and interim Police Supt. Charlie Beck announced plans to add more police officers to the transit system after a multiple instances of violence were reported at CTA stations — including a fatal shooting Feb. 17 in the connecting tunnel at the Jackson station downtown.

Hours after that plan was unveiled, a man was shot by a Chicago police officer in an incident caught on video at the Grand Red Line station. The FBI is assisting the Cook County state’s attorney’s office’s investigation into the shooting with “possible criminal charges” looming.

Earlier in the month, a man who shot someone outside a Lake View bar was fatally shot by responding officers in an exchange of gunfire.

Chicago man on probation for robbery charged with double homicide

What do you know…another criminal who didn’t follow the laws and received lenient punishment. It’s almost appears that Chiraq’s strict gun control laws are meant to punish law-abiding citizens.

Alvin Thomas/Chicago Police photo

From MyFoxChicago: A 20-year-old man on probation for a robbery conviction is now charged in connection with a Sunday robbery in Chinatown where two men were shot to death when they resisted, police say.

Alvin Thomas, of South Shore, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the early morning shooting Feb. 9 in the 2000 block of South Wells Street, Chicago police said.

Huayi Bian, 36, and Weizhong Xiong, 38, were standing in the parking lot of an apartment complex with a 44-year-old woman about 2:13 a.m. when a man walked up and tried to rob them, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The woman complied, but the men resisted, at which point the man fired multiple shots, police said. Both men were shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman wasn’t hurt.

Thomas was arrested minutes later at 2:27 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Archer Avenue, police said. He is due for a bail hearing Tuesday.

At the time of his arrest, Thomas was on probation for a 2018 robbery charge in Chicago, according to county records. He was released on home electronic monitoring after posting a $5,000 bond, and pleaded guilty to the charge in July 2019. He was sentenced to two years probation with credit for 319 days already served, county records state.

While out on bond, Thomas was charged with manufacture and delivery of cannabis in February 2019, but the charge was dropped the next month, according to county records.

Man who shot up NYPD Bronx station just got out of jail for machine gun charge

According to the NY Post, this perp just got out of jail for a machine gun charge, has a homicide on his record, arrest for gun possession, and ambushed two cops the previous night.

Yet Gov. Cuomo claims New York has the “toughest gun control laws in the US.”

Maybe he means toughest for law-abiding citizens…

Guess how long some have to wait for a gun ID card in Illinois

According to MyFoxChicago, two gun rights groups are suing the Illinois State Police for not promptly renewing firearm owners’ identification cards.

The groups suing are the Illinois State Rifle Association and the Second Amendment Foundation. They filed on behalf of two men who have been waiting for their identification cards and concealed carry licenses since 2017.

From their report:

“The groups said the state police transferred nearly $30 million from funds used for the administration of the cards, background checks and concealed carry licenses into other accounts, which has caused the application and appeals process to slow and come to a halt.

Attorney David Sigale said he tried working with the police to move along the process, but he was left with no other option but to sue. “We’re just going to sit on your license application, your FOID appeal, your renewal, we’re just going to sit on it and passively deny people’s rights, and that’s what’s happening here,” Sigale said.

But Illinois State Police said in a statement that it does not have the authority to sweep funds. “In 2015 and 2018, $13.2 million was swept from the Firearms Service Fund into the general fund during the budget crisis,” ISP said. “Under the current fiscal year, funds have not been swept, allowing the Firearms Services Bureau to start filling 17 analyst vacancies, procure technology to offer better customer service and to begin building a new Appeals Bureau.”

The agency also has no deadline to respond to appeals and has been known to take months or years to issue a decision, according to the documents.

In a statement, Illinois State Police spokeswoman Beth Hundsdorfer said that last year, 90 percent of applicants saw their paperwork processed in less than 30 days. She said it took an average of 65 days to renew a FOID card in 2019.

The kicker? The men said they usually carry a handgun for self-defense but do not anymore because they fear prosecution for possessing a firearm without a license.

Meanwhile, criminals aren’t waiting for their ID cards: “Convicted felon charged in shooting of Chicago firefighter in Albany Park.”

After Seattle mass shooting carried out by known career-convicts, business owner says, “I don’t know what happened to our beautiful city”

There was a mass shooting in downtown Seattle on Wednesday where one was killed and seven injured. The perps are 24-year-old KNOWN gang members with EXTENSIVE criminal records between the two of them: 66 arrests and 34 convictions, including four felonies. Yet for some reason the perps weren’t in jail.

How did the demorat-run leadership in King County respond? By calling for more gun control laws.

MyNorthwest.com has a story about one restaurant owner nearby the shooting who is complaining about the loss of business he faces because of this incident (he had 68 canceled reservations). He states, ““For a small business like me, that means the entire payroll for the week. It was so devastating.”

Here’s the kicker: “I don’t know what happened to our beautiful city. We used to have this amazing Westlake Center; downtown was a treat. You would bring your family, ‘Let’s go downtown to shop and dine.’ And it’s gone. It doesn’t exist anymore.”

I’ll tell you how it happened: Seattle/King County has been run by demorats for decades.

With the easy access to today’s news and politics via your handheld device, there is really no reason for one to not understand what is going on in your own community. The problem lies in the inability of progressives to understand how their failed policies have destroyed that once vibrant city.

Here’s a refresher course for this Seattle restaurant owner and anyone with a true desire to understand how liberalism ruins the lives of law-abiding, taxpaying citizens:

King County judge on why repeat offenders get no punishment: “We’re just talking about property crime
Seattle repeat offender attacks man outside courthouse; was just released from jail earlier this month
Violent repeat offender in Seattle assaults toddler with coffee, two days after his jail release
Insanity in Seattle: Homeless man attempts to kidnap child. Guess how many previous arrests/convictions he has
How many convictions does it take for Seattle City Attorney to place a homeless criminal in jail after his latest assault?
Sanctuary King County, WA: Convicted rapist and illegal alien freed after 9 months returns to attack his disabled victim second time
Sanctuary King County: Man murdered in his sleep by illegal alien with previous felony

I could go on and on with the stories we’ve done on this blog about the inept criminal justice system in Seattle/King County.

It really is no mystery as to why Seattle has become a failed city – along with San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, Portland, etc. Gee, I wonder what they all have in common?

What is a mystery is why liberals keep electing progressive “leaders.”

Washington State gun control laws designed to punish law-abiding citizens

Demorats’ gun control laws are conduits to achieving their utopia: Removing firearms from law-abiding citizens.

Washington State (run by demorats) has implemented numerous gun control laws that have had no effect on criminal behaviors.

Earlier this month the Seattle Police Department (SPD) released its annual report on gun violence, and statistics show the number of shootings in 2019 is up from 2018. One of the causes is an increase in gang-related violence.

Instead of addressing the root cause of gun violence, Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson believes part of the solution is to ban “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines.

Proof that demorats only want to control legal firearms is the fact that known criminals are routinely set free to terrorize tax-paying citizens. There is a severe lack of proper punishment for criminals due to – in my opinion – social justice warriors’ desire for “criminal justice reform.”

Look at what happened in Seattle this week: Three shootings where one person was killed. The majority injured happened at a shooting on Tuesday in downtown Seattle in broad daylight (7 injured, the 1 killed).

Guess who the perps were? “KNOWN GANG MEMBERS.”

MyNorthwest.com has more details about these KNOWN perps:

“KIRO 7’s Amy Clancy reports that police are searching for a pair of 24-year-old male suspects who are both “known to SPD,” according to a source in law enforcement.

Clancy went on to note that court documents reveal both suspects are “‘documented gang members’ with extensive criminal histories.” Those documents detail multiple arrests for robbery, theft, and false statements to a public servant among other charges, for one suspect, while the other had been “booked 11 times since 2014” for theft, domestic violence, a DUI, and violating a no contact order.”

MyNorthwest.com reports that 45 police units were dispatched to the scene at the time of the shooting.

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best said to expect a strong police present in the area “until further notice.”

Until further notice you can expect that since the criminal justice system does not adequately punish criminals, they will not follow any gun control laws.

And until further notice, you can expect that demorats will continue in their efforts to strip law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment right.

Heroism and Second Amendment rights set aside: USA Today pushes a gun control narrative

USA Today tweeted yesterday the following: “Opinion: Jack Wilson is exactly the type of person you want around with a gun because he’s a firearms instructor. But we know nothing about the at least six other parishioners who also appeared to draw their handguns. And that’s terrifying.

“Journalist” Elvia Diaz

From the headline at the opinion piece: “Armed, even in church: Texas shooting is about a lot more than Jack Wilson’s heroism”

The author, a journalist named Elvia Diaz, further asks, “Jack Wilson is a hero. But why were so many other parishioners armed? And how did the shooter get his gun, given his criminal history?

She’s asking so many questions, let me help her out with a few answers…

For example, why must one be armed in church? Because evil exists EVERYWHERE, Elvia.
Why were so many parishioners armed? Because of the Second Amendment.
How did a criminal get a gun? Because criminals DO NOT FOLLOW the law.

Here’s excerpts from her opinion piece:

“Jack Wilson is a hero alright. It took him only six seconds to kill a gunman at a Texas church, saving countless lives.

Unfortunately, that kind of split-second heroism has been turned into a PR tool by gun advocates.

The reality of Wilson’s heroism is a lot more complex. He wasn’t just an ordinary parishioner, as gun advocates may want you to believe. The church’s volunteer security team member is a firearms instructor, gun range owner and former reserve deputy with a local sheriff’s department, according to a New York Times detailed account.

The real story here isn’t heroism

Of course, that wouldn’t matter to the churchgoers of that community of roughly 18,000 residents, right? What matters is that Wilson saved them with a single shot and other gun-wielding parishioners were ready just in case Wilson failed.

But have we really reached a point when each of us need to carry a firearm anywhere we go? Gun advocates certainly think so. They point to Wilson and the new Texas law that allows him and others to carry firearms inside the church.

The Second Amendment gives Americans the right to bear arms. And that isn’t going anywhere. But that constitutional amendment doesn’t spell out the types of firearms Americans should bear, nor does it give Americans the right to sell them to anyone to carry anywhere.

We know firearms are readily available to anyone who wants one, really. And that’s part of the problem. Sunday’s shooting isn’t just about Jack Wilson’s heroism. It’s about how Kinnunen got a hold of a weapon in the first place, given his criminal record.

If this womyn has NO CLUE as to how a criminal can obtain a gun as a prohibited possessor, I can’t help her. She’s intent on pushing a gun control narrative.

And shame on her for turning Jack Wilson’s excellent taxpayer relief shot that resulted in saving human lives into a “PR stunt” by gun advocates.

Congrats demorat-run Baltimore, you did it! City breaks record for killings per capita in 2019

One day after I reported that Baltimore was nearing a record homicide rate, they achieved it!

WISHTV has the details:

“With just over 600,000 residents, the city hit a historically high homicide rate of about 57 per 100,000 people after recent relentless gunfire saw eight people shot — three fatally — in one day and nine others — one fatally — another day.

The new rate eclipses that of 1993, when the city had a record 353 killings but was much more populous before years of population exodus.

By contrast, New York City, with more than 8 million residents, had 306 homicides through Dec. 15.

The total is up from 309 in 2018 and matches the 342 killings tallied in 2017 and 2015, the year when the city’s homicide rate suddenly spiked.”

The Baltimore Sun has more grim details:

A working mother gunned down in front of her children at an East Side deli. A man who succumbed to the gunshot wounds he suffered two weeks ago. A baby believed to be shaken to death. A man shot to death inside a car.

The four killings this week push the 2019 body count to match the second-most on record: 342 homicides.

Worse yet, the homicide rate for 2019 has already set a grim record of 57 killings per 100,000 people.

The anti-Second Amendment folks’ responses to this madness in a strict gun-controlled city?

CRICKETS:

Shannon Watts
Moms Demand
Everytown

Guess the situation in Baltimore doesn’t warrant a response from them since it doesn’t fit their narrative.

Alleged ISIS supporter commits murder with stolen gun; victims sue S&W for their “ultra-hazardous” product

Faisal Hussain: Not responsible because of a hazardous product.

In 2018, a “psychotic, depressed ” and “very disturbed” Faisal Hussain shot 16 people in Greektown (Toronto). Two people died. Hussain cowardly committed suicide.

Hussain used a .40-calibre Smith & Wesson that HE STOLE in Saskatchewan in 2016 during a break-and-enter at a gun store.

According to Heavy, the Pakistani Hussain may have expressed support for ISIS. Wikipedia says that to this day there is no evidence that there was any connection between the shooter and his support for ISIS.

In a class action lawsuit filed by the victims of this shooting, they claim that the gun manufacturer failed to implement “key safety features” that could have prevented the attack.

Those features would be smart-gun technologies to prevent “unauthorized” users from firing the gun.

Without the technology in place, the lawsuit claims it was “reasonably foreseeable” people such as Hussain could inflict widespread damage with a stolen weapon. Read the details about the class action lawsuit here.

Setting aside the unreliability of smart gun technology, wasn’t it “reasonably foreseeable” that people such as Hussain would not inflict such widespread damage due to Canadian laws?

I mean, I’m no lawyer and I do not have a thorough knowledge of Canada’s criminal laws yet have a few questions:

Isn’t stealing ILLEGAL?
Isn’t breaking and entering ILLEGAL?
Isn’t assault ILLEGAL?
Isn’t assault with a deadly weapon ILLEGAL?
Isn’t first-degree murder ILLEGAL?
Isn’t felony murder ILLEGAL?

I’d argue that the “ultra-hazardous” actions of this shooting originated with the CRIMINAL shooter.

Where do you draw the line with product manufacturers and CRIMINALS who are WILLING and INTENT on committing ILLEGAL behaviors?

Guess the Canadian courts will decide.
