New Yorker Festival drops Bannon from lineup amid backlash from TDS-infected celebrities

Some of these celebrities who have butt hurt about Bannon are people who have a platform to trash others who aren’t of the same political persuasion:

  • Jim Carrey: Uses his “art” to trash Sarah Huckabee Sander’s looks and religion
  • Judd Apatow: Used profanity in a stand-up gig to trash Melania and Barron Trump
  • Patton Oswalt: Retweeted about the “long list of targets” that terrorists have when it comes to then- President-elect Donald Trump’s worldwide holdings. “Trump has properties all over the world. Terrorists will have a long list of targets that are literally owned by POTUS and bear his name,” a Twitter use wrote. Oswalt responded by retweeting the tweet and adding, “Holy f–k. Come ‘n’ get it, terrorists!”

More hypocrisy and intolerance from “the tolerant” left.

From Hollywood Reporter: After news that Steve Bannon will be a featured speaker at the upcoming New Yorker Festival drew sharp criticism from numerous bold-faced names, the festival has dropped Bannon as a speaker.

The news came after several famous faces, including Judd Apatow, Jim Carrey, Patton Oswalt and John Mulaney, all tweeted that they were canceling their scheduled appearances at the event.

The New Yorker tweeted late Monday that Bannon had been dropped from the lineup and that it was New Yorker editor David Remnick’s decision.

New Yorker editor David Remnick put out a statement Monday that he had decided to drop Bannon from the speaker lineup.

“I don’t want well-meaning readers and staff members to think that I’ve ignored their concerns,” he said. “I’ve thought this through and talked to colleagues — and I’ve re-considered. I’ve changed my mind. There is a better way to do this. Our writers have interviewed Steve Bannon for The New Yorker before, and if the opportunity presents itself I’ll interview him in a more traditionally journalistic setting as we first discussed, and not on stage.”

He also explained his rationale for originally including Bannon on the lineup.

“The main argument for not engaging someone like Bannon is that we are giving him a platform and that he will use it, unfiltered, to propel further the ‘ideas’ of white nationalism, racism, anti-Semitism and illiberalism,” he said. “But to interview Bannon is not to endorse him. By conducting an interview with one of Trumpism’s leading creators and organizers, we are hardly pulling him out of obscurity. Ahead of the mid-term elections and with 2020 in sight, we’d be taking the opportunity to question someone who helped assemble Trumpism.

Organizers announced the lineup early Monday of speakers including Apatow, Mulaney, John Krasinski, Jack Antonoff, Oswalt, Christine Baranski, Zadie Smith, Carrey, Jimmy Fallon and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

But the speaker drawing the most attention on social media is Bannon, the controversial former White House chief strategist who served as executive chairman of the right-leaning Breitbart News before joining Donald Trump’s campaign as chief executive in August 2016. He exited his White House position a year later.

Bannon was set to take part in a talk with Remnick titled “The Ideology of Trumpism” on Oct. 5, the first day of the three-day New Yorker Festival.

The news was met with criticism on social media from many famous faces, including Hollywood A-listers like Apatow and Ava DuVernay and the New Yorker’s own staff.

For his part, Remnick earlier told the New York Times: “I have every intention of asking him difficult questions and engaging in a serious and even combative conversation. The audience itself, by its presence, puts a certain pressure on a conversation that an interview alone doesn’t do. You can’t jump on and off the record.”

Still, TV and movie producer Aditya Sood noted that Bannon was previously featured on the festival’s main page but had since been removed.

Later Monday, Oswalt, Apatow, Carrey and Mulaney tweeted separately that they were going to pull out of their planned appearances.

Another raunchy movie coming out of Hollyweird: A sequel to Bad Moms

Warning: NSFW language in this movie trailer.
Last June I did a blog post about the movie “Bad Moms.” From my post:
“Amy Mitchell (played by Mila Kunis) has a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However she’s over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild binge of long-overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence – putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.”
I reminded folks about the politics of several of the movie actors:
Mila Kunis: Kunis supports the Democratic Party and Barack Obama. In a 2012 interview, she criticized the Republican Party, saying: “The way that Republicans attack women is so offensive to me. And the way they talk about religion is offensive. I may not be a practicing Jew, but why we gotta talk about Jesus all the time?”
Kristen Bell: Kristen (a mother herself) is a rabid supporter of Planned Parenthood. Bell is also a rabid anti-gunner. She ALWAYS tweets nasty words for the NRA, gun owners, and republicans after any gun incident (oddly, she doesn’t tweet about the regular shootings in Chiraq).
Because this movie actually made money, they’ve decided to do a sequel, “Bad Moms Christmas.”
From Wikipedia:
“On December 23, 2016, it was announced that A Bad Moms Christmas would be released on November 3, 2017 and that it would be holiday themed, with Bell, Hahn, and Kunis all returning to reprise their roles. In April 2017, Justin Hartley joined the cast of the film. In May 2017, Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski and Cheryl Hines joined the cast of the film, alongside David Walton, Wanda Sykes and Jay Hernandez, who will reprise their roles from the first film.”
Wanda Sykes is a proggie who was booed off stage after her anti-Trump remarks at a charity event last November (classy). From Fox News:
Wanda Sykes shouted a series of expletives while giving the middle finger to the audience during a charity event in Boston Saturday. The comedian flipped off the crowd at Boston’s TD Garden arena after she was booed for her anti-Trump comments at the 22nd annual Comics Come Home fundraiser on behalf of the Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care.
“I am certain this is not the first time we’ve elected a racist, sexist, homophobic president,” Sykes told the crowd according to the Boston Herald. “He’s just the first confirmed one, that’s it.”
Sykes’ comments were met with loud boos, prompting the comedian to yell out, “F–k you, motherf—er, f–k all of y’all.”
She then began pointing at various audience members and said, “F–k you, you, you.”
Actress Christine Baranski is anti-Trump. She claimed on Stephen Colbert’s show:
“I didn’t have to do much acting for The Good Fight‘s opening scene, in which Diane Lockhart looks on in horror as Donald Trump gets sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.”
“The pilot was written on the supposition that we would have a female president,” Baranski said. “But in editing, [creators Robert and Michelle King] realized they had an opportunity…. [The opening scene] was shot after the election, but before the inauguration, so I had hadn’t had the opportunity of seeing [Trump’s actual swearing-in], but the director said, ‘Imagine that you’re shocked,’ and I said, ‘No worry. I can play this.”
Another Hollyweird movie I won’t be seeing.
