Chiraq criminals missed the Wuhan virus memo; sees deadliest Memorial Day weekend in five years

Shocker, not: The thugs in Chiraq ignored Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s orders.

Headline on Monday night from MyFoxChicago: Chicago sees deadliest Memorial Day weekend in years: 10 fatally shot, 31 wounded.

This is Chiraq’s deadliest Memorial Day weekend since 2015. Read all the details here.

And this occurred despite Chicago Police increasing patrols to enforce Mayor Lightfoot’s stay-at-home order. From a story three days prior:

“As the long holiday weekend kicks off, Chicago police say they will be enforcing the stay-at-home order.

The city is calling it an “all-hands-on-deck” strategy. Chicago police are increasing patrolling, including near major transit hubs and that is just one of the many things are doing to help keep people safe this weekend.

Memorial Day weekend in the past has typically been one of the most violent times in the city.

“This Memorial Day weekend will be like no other,” said Rich Guidice, Executive Director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

CPD will enforce the stay-at-home order and be on the lookout to breakup large gatherings and issue citations.”

Well, this Memorial Day weekend was like no other…but not in the way they anticipated. Great leadership, Mayor Lightfoot!

(FYI: Mayor Lightfoot’s Twitter bio now includes the following: “Delightfully strict.”)

Wuhan virus ain’t stopping Chiraq shootings: 22 wounded, 1 killed this past weekend

Just a little over a week ago Chiraq had their most violent day of shootings so far this year. And despite the “stay at home” order, the shootings continued to rack up this past weekend.

Apparently it’s still business as usual in Chiraq.

From MyFoxChicago: A man was killed and 22 other people, including a 2-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, have been injured by gunfire across Chicago so far this weekend.

The fatal attack happened Saturday night in Englewood on the South Side. Two men were sitting in a parked vehicle at 11:56 p.m. when someone walked up and fired shots in the 5700 block of South May Street, according to Chicago police. A 22-year-old man was hit multiple times in the side and ran to a nearby alley.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Alexis Perez of Edgewater on the North Side.
The other man, 39, was hit in both shoulders and taken to the same hospital in fair condition, police said.

The 2-year-old and a 28-year-old man were hurt in the weekend’s first shooting Friday evening in Gresham on the South Side.

They were in a vehicle about 6 p.m. on West 84th Street when another vehicle pulled up and someone fired shots, hitting the man and the toddler, police said. The man’s vehicle rammed into a porch and came to a rest in the 8400 block of South Damen Avenue.

The man was shot in the back of the head and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said. The boy was hit in the foot, and his condition was stabilized at Little Company of Mary Hospital.

A teenage girl was also injured Saturday night in Ashburn on the Southwest Side. The 17-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle at a stop sign at 11:01 p.m. on 79th Place when a white Ford Taurus with dark tinted windows pulled up, according to police. Two males got out of the Taurus and fired multiple shots, hitting the girl in the leg. The girl flagged down officers in Marquette Park and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

Six people were hurt in a series of shootings lasting just over an hour early Sunday in Lawndale and Englewood.

The most recent attack left three people injured in Lawndale on the West Side.

At least six other people have been shot throughout Chicago since 5 p.m. Friday.

Last week, three people were killed and 19 others were injured in gun violence across the city over Easter weekend.

Strict gun-controlled Chiraq: “Eruption” of gun violence in February

How’s Mayor Lightfoot’s “grand plan” to address gun violence going? Just as one with common sense would expect…

From MyFoxChicago: Overall crime in Chicago decreased in February 2020 compared to the same month last year despite an eruption of gun violence, according to statistics released by Chicago police.

Murders and shootings reported last month in Chicago were up from February 2019, police said in a statement Sunday. The 34 homicides reported in February were a 41% increase from the 24 reported the same month last year, while the 137 shooting incidents were a 25% increase compared to 109 in 2019.

So far in 2020, 68 murders were recorded in Chicago, police said. The number of shooting incidents came in at 274, with a total of 325 victims. The Sun-Times has also counted 68 homicides this year within city limits.

Last month’s gun violence included two mass shootings. The first was on Valentine’s Day when someone shot six people at an apartment in Parkway Gardens. On Feb. 25, one person was killed and four others were wounded when three males opened fire into an Avalon Park convenience store.

February also saw a weekend in which 11 kids were wounded by gunfire — at least three of them in accidental shootings. The weekend before that was the deadliest February weekend in almost 20 years with nine people killed in citywide shootings.

Meanwhile, more than 1,500 illegal guns were seized by officers so far in 2020, an increase of about 100 from the same period last year, police said. Of those seizures, 81 were assault weapons.

Overall violent crime — including murders, robberies, burglaries, thefts and motor vehicle thefts —were down by 3%, police said. Thefts saw a 13% decrease and burglaries dropped by 9% compared to the same period last year.

Lightfoot and interim Police Supt. Charlie Beck announced plans to add more police officers to the transit system after a multiple instances of violence were reported at CTA stations — including a fatal shooting Feb. 17 in the connecting tunnel at the Jackson station downtown.

Hours after that plan was unveiled, a man was shot by a Chicago police officer in an incident caught on video at the Grand Red Line station. The FBI is assisting the Cook County state’s attorney’s office’s investigation into the shooting with “possible criminal charges” looming.

Earlier in the month, a man who shot someone outside a Lake View bar was fatally shot by responding officers in an exchange of gunfire.

Chiraq off to a typical week: 5 shot, 1 fatally Monday

The shootings never stop in Chiraq, even during Monday’s “accountability” meeting.

From MyFoxChicago: One person was killed and four others wounded in shootings Monday in Chicago, including a 27-year-old woman who was fatally shot while trying to fend off someone breaking into an apartment in Albany Park on the North Side.

She and a friend were inside the apartment about 9:32 p.m. in the 4400 block of North Francisco Avenue when they heard a knock at the door, Chicago police said. A male wearing all black with a ski mask tried to force his way in after they answered the door. Stephanie Brooks was shot in the chest as she tried to close the door, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

In non-fatal shootings, a 15-year-old boy was critically wounded after he was shot in Morgan Park on the Far South Side. He was walking about 6:48 p.m. when two males approached him in the 11300 block of South Aberdeen Avenue, pulled out a gun and shot him in the abdomen and shoulder, police said. The teen was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.

A 60-year-old man was shot while standing in a yard in Austin on the West Side. The shooting happened about 10:20 a.m. in the 500 block of North Leamington Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with gunshots to his abdomen and chest, police said.

A 22-year-old woman was shot in Lawndale on the West Side. She was walking in the 2200 block of South Keeler Avenue about 9:15 a.m. when she heard gunshots and realized she was hit, police said. The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg, police said. She was listed in good condition.

A man was wounded in a shooting in Little Village on the Southwest Side. The 19-year-old was standing in an alley at 12:52 a.m. in the 2800 block of South Komensky Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, according to police. He was hit in the abdomen and taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

Mayor Lightfoot mad at President Trump because he won’t acknowledge Chiraq shootings down 40% (depends upon your baseline stat)

Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot can celebrate some sort of record?

This past Saturday Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot took issue with President Trump not recognizing some great accomplishment in her city. She tweeted this: “WATCH: Chicago shooting incidents are down sharply. But both Trump and largely the national media have been silent.”

Watch the MSNBC video here where they state that shootings are down 40% from three years ago.

The basis for their comparison claim is 2016 where Chiraq had 801 homicides and 4,380 shootings. That was a RECORD year of shootings/homicides that they have not seen in the past ten years.

Apparently the MSNBC and the good mayor are using this record-breaking year of shootings/homicides as the comparison to today’s rate to tout some improvement. But let’s take a closer look at the numbers, shall we?

Since 2014 Chiraq has averaged 2,975 shootings per year (I excluded the 2016 total as it was an anomaly). If the number of shootings were down 40%, there would have to be less than 1,785 shootings. As of Sunday morning, Chiraq had 2,736 shootings.

Since 2009 Chiraq has averaged 509 homicides per year (I excluded the 2016 total as it was an anomaly). As of Sunday morning, Chiraq had 508 homicides. So they basically have an average amount of homicides as they have every year since 2009.

So far this year in Chiraq:

2,736 shot
2,281 shot and wounded
10.6% homicide clearance rate

Clever trick for MSNBC and the good mayor to use a record-breaking year of shootings/homicides as the baseline for some great indicator that things are better in Chiraq.

I guess when you have no REAL accomplishment you have to spin the numbers so you can say #OrangeManBad.

See Chicago’s crime stats here and let me know if you really find anything you would brag about if you were the mayor of that crime-infested city.

Not going to happen in Chiraq: Mayor Lightfoot says “Change is needed”

The above video is from this past August where more than 50 people were shot over a weekend in Chiraq. The mayor stated at the time, “we have to provide real infrastructure with staying power so that these communities start to heal.”

Don’t hold your breath that the “infrastructure” (whatever that means) will arrive any time soon to save Chiraq.

Since that bloody and deadly weekend, Chiraq continues to be the “model” city for gun control:

13 people shot at Chicago house party
9 shot, 1 killed in Christmas Eve shootings across Chicago
Girl, 7, among 2 shot in Brighton Park home on Christmas

Here’s the stats for Chiraq shootings so far this year:

Shot & wounded: 2,253
Shot & killed: 452
Total homicides: 504

Keep voting demorat and change is never coming to Chiraq, even if they provide real “infrastructure.”

This Chiraq: 13 shot at beginning of weekend; 13 shot at memorial party last night

When I scheduled this post it was to report that 13 people were shot (4 fatally) in a 24-hour period at the beginning of the weekend. Then I wakeup this morning to this headline: “Chicago memorial party turns ‘chaotic’ as mass shooting wounds 13 on South Side.”

Apparently last night’s shooting at this memorial party “stemmed from a dispute inside the home.”

The Chicago Tribune reports that police are questioning 2 they say were ‘shooting randomly at people’ as they were leaving. Read their story here.

Saturday night story from MyFoxChicago: Thirteen people have been shot, four of them fatally, across Chicago since Friday evening.

The most recent fatal shooting happened Saturday in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side. A 41-year-old man was on the corner about 2:20 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Fairfield Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots at him, Chicago police said. The man was struck in the back and abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.

The shooter ran off east on 60th Street, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not provided details about the death.

A man was shot to death Saturday morning at a home in Rogers Park on the North Side. The man, 55, was inside a residence about 4:35 a.m. in the 1600 block of West Morse Avenue when a male suspect kicked in the door and opened fire, Chicago police said. The man was shot in the face and pronounced dead on the scene.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details about his death.

Earlier, a man was killed in Grand Crossing on the South Side. The 27-year-old was standing on the sidewalk at 1:27 a.m. in the 7300 block of South Blackstone Avenue when someone shot at him from a black sedan, according to police. He was hit multiple times and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the death.

Another man was shot and killed Friday in Austin on the West Side. According to a witness, 44-year-old Antonio Cox opened the front door to a residential building about 9:20 p.m. in the 5100 block of West Ferdinand Street and someone unleashed gunfire, police and the medical examiner’s office said. Cox, who lived in Austin, was struck in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.

Read about all the shootings here.

FYI: No one is in custody for any of the shootings as detectives continue to investigate.

Time to celebrate! Chiraq goes one full day without a shooting

Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Mayor Lightfoot must be so proud. Oh wait, they still have over 2,400 people shot this year.

Imagine living in a city where a day without a shooting warrants a headline story.

From MyFoxChicago: Chicago went more than a full day without a reported shooting, from Sunday night into early Tuesday. There were no gunshot victims from 10:02 p.m. Sunday until 12:43 a.m. Tuesday, according to Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago police records.

Fourteen people were shot on Sunday, the last of which was a 17-year-old boy wounded in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

He was inside a vehicle about 10:02 p.m. in the 2800 block of South Spaulding Avenue when a black SUV approached and someone inside fired shots, police said. The boy was struck in the leg and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.

More than 26 hours went by in Chicago without a shooting with injuries until early Tuesday.

The streak was broken at 12:43 a.m., when a 15-year-old boy was walking in West Lawn in the 7100 block of South Lawndale Avenue and heard gunfire, police said. He was shot in the lower back and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

On March 21, Chicago recorded 28 hours without a shooting victim.

The first day of 2019 without a reported shooting in Chicago was Jan. 14, although two people were hurt in accidental discharges that day.

So far in 2019, at least 407 people have been killed in gun violence in Chicago, according to Sun-Times records.

Gun-controlled Chiraq: 15 people shot, 2 killed this past Tuesday

Chiraq Mayor Lori Lightfoot

Hey Mayor Lightfoot: Gun control laws still aren’t working in your gang- infested city.

From MyFoxChicago: Fifteen people were shot — two of them fatally — Tuesday in incidents of gun violence across Chicago, including an 18-year-old man who was gunned down in a Pilsen alleyway.

About 1:25 a.m., officers responded to calls of shots fired in the 1600 block of South Loomis Street and found Eduardo Rendon with multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and chest, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Over a dozen shell casings could be observed at the scene of the shooting.

He was taken to the University of Illinois in Chicago Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. An autopsy released Tuesday found he died from multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

The day’s first shooting claimed the life of a 27-year-old man in Vittum Park on the Southwest Side.
He was standing on the sidewalk about 12:45 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Cicero Avenue when someone walked up to him and opened fire, police said.

He was struck multiple times in the chest and rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead, police said. An autopsy released Tuesday said he died from his gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. His identity has not been released.

In non-fatal incidents, seven people were wounded in less than an hour in a series of shootings across the West Side, including four teenage males shot in West Town.

Read about all the shootings here.
