Obama threatens Christians: “Gay rights” come before your constitutional right to religious freedom

A couple of months ago one Sunday morning, I arrived early at church and found the presiding priest — an orthodox and reverent priest — graciously standing outside to greet parishioners. There was no one around, so we began chatting.

Father X spontaneously said something very interesting. He said that, after the 2016 elections, Catholic priests will be imprisoned in the United States for defending their faith.

I questioned his timing. Referring to the creature occupying the White House, I said, “He won’t wait till the 2016 elections. He still has one and a half years to wreak more destruction on this country.”

Then I quoted — a quote with which Fr. X was even more familiar than I was — what the late Archbishop of Chicago Cardinal Francis George said in 2010 about the perilous state of religious freedoms in the United States (and across the western world):

“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.”

Cardinal George’s prophesy isn’t so far-fetched given what Obama recently proclaimed.

Barely hours after Pope Francis emphasized the importance of religious freedom in his speech to the United Nations, as Francis was en route in his flight back to Rome, Obama delivered a “F-you” by declaring a war against Christianity and against the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, declaring that homosexual “rights” come before any rights to religious freedom.

Obama at LGBT fundraiser in NY, Sept. 27, 2015.

Charlie Spiering reports for Breitbart that in a speech at a LGBT fundraiser in New York City on Sunday (Sept. 27, 2015) night, Obama praised the progress made on “gay rights” under his administration. He crowed:

“We affirm that we cherish our religious freedom and are profoundly respectful of religious traditions. But we also have to say clearly that our religious freedom doesn’t grant us the freedom to deny our fellow Americans their constitutional rights.”

Obama then accused Republicans of using the religious freedom issue just to earn more votes, as they did in 2004, and boasted that “America has left the leaders of the Republican Party behind.”

He then singled out three GOP presidential contenders for ridicule:

  • Dr. Ben Carson, for suggesting that “prison turns you gay.”
  • Sen. Ted Cruz, for saying he would introduce a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.
  • Gov. Mike Huckabee, for saying that Americans should just disobey the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage. Obama mocked Huckabee, “I’m sure he loves the Constitution — except for Article III. And maybe the Equal Protection Amendment. And 14th Amendment, generally.”

Obama proudly told the audience (that included DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Shultz and actor George Takei) that he would not back down in his efforts to make progress for the LGBT community, and called for all of them to remain vigilant to hold the line on important legal gains in the country. “What makes America special is, is that though sometimes we zig and zag, eventually hope wins out,” he said. “But it only wins out because folks like you put your shoulder behind the wheel and push it in that direction.”

California city councilman threatened with criminal prosecution for opposing homosexual marriage

A few years before he died on April 17, 2015, reflecting on the increasing secularization and anti-Christianity of our perilous times, Cardinal Francis George predicted:

“I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.”

We can already see the outlines of one of George’s predictions.

Already, Christian-owned businesses, like bakeries, which refuse to cater to homosexual marriage have been prosecuted. Now, a city councilman is threatened with criminal prosecution for voicing his disapproval of homosexuals’ use of the rainbow flag as their emblem.

Last Tuesday, August 11, 2015, the city council of Newport Beach, California, voted 4-3 to disassociate themselves from an email sent to his constituents by one of their own, Councilman Scott Peotter, on the recent Supreme Court’s 5-4 decision on same-sex, i.e., homosexual marriage.

Peotter noted the irony of the LGBT movement’s use of the rainbow as their emblem, when the rainbow was originally given by God as a sign to Noah after the Great Flood, which the Creator had sent because of humanity’s sinfulness. (See Trail Dust’s “Who really owns the rainbow?“)

City Councilman Keith Curry went further than disassociating himself from Peotter’s email. Curry pushed the city council to formally censure Peotter, and to refer Peotter to the District Attorney for prosecution ostensibly because Peotter had used a picture of the Newport Beach City Seal in the background of his email.

Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry

Local LGBT activists expressed dissatisfaction with the city council’s Tuesday night vote, claiming Peotter’s comments were hate speech and created a hostile work environment.

Stepping into the fray is the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI). Their attorneys sent a letter to the City Council, cautioning them against punishing Peotter for his exercise of free speech.

PJI president Brad Dacus warns:

“It is alarming that some politicians and activists now believe that expressing support for traditional marriage should be prosecuted. This situation should be a wake-up call to all Americans. We face an ominous future of further repression, coercion and censorship unless we speak and act now in defense of our constitutional freedoms.

If Councilman Keith Curry wants to criminalize opposition to “gay” marriage, I suggest he should begin with the four justices on the Supreme Court who voted “no” on making homosexual marriage a new constitutional right. (See “Judicial Tyranny: Dissenting opinions on Supreme Court’s ruling on homosexual marriage”)

Thankfully, Curry will be term-limited out of the city council next year. His email address is curryk@pfm.com.

Send Councilman Peotter a word of support! His email address is SPeotter@NewportBeachCa.gov.

Pope Francis calls again for wealth redistribution, while U.S. archbishops live in palatial homes

That Pope Francis, what a guy!

He called gunmakers hypocritical false Christians while the Vatican’s own Swiss Guards and Pontifical Gendarmerie are armed with state-of-the-art firearms, including shotguns and machine guns.

He admonished pastors for talking too much and called them “pseudo Christians” and “pseudo pastors” when he himself hasn’t stopped yacking and yacking and yacking, seemingly without forethought or discretion, since he was selected pope 2 years 4 months ago.

The latest: While visiting South America, Francis called for a New (economic and ecological) World Order of wealth redistribution and redoubled his condemnation of capitalism, calling it (“an unfettered pursuit of money”) “the dung of the devil.”

The AP reports, July 8, 2015:

Pope Francis wraps up the first leg of a three-nation South American pilgrimage Wednesday after issuing an impassioned call for a new economic and ecological world order where the goods of the Earth are shared by everyone, not just exploited by the rich….

Taking up the global warming issue in Quito on Tuesday, Francis pressed the arguments made in his headline-grabbing encyclical earlier this month that the planet must not be exploited by the wealthy few for short-term profit at the expense of the poor.

“As stewards of these riches which we have received, we have an obligation toward society as a whole and toward future generations,” Francis said. “…The goods of the Earth are meant for everyone…..”

“An unfettered pursuit of money” is “the dung of the devil”?

What about the constant appeals to donate more and more money at my Catholic parish?

Does the pope think it’s the poor who donated those hundreds of millions of dollars that built those Catholic cathedrals, churches, schools, hospitals, seminaries, monasteries and nunneries?

As for “the goods of the Earth” being “shared by everyone, not just exploited by the rich,” may I suggest to the pope that he should prevail on U.S. archbishops and bishops to divest themselves of their opulent homes?

From a CNN report in August 2014:

A CNN investigation found that at least 10 of the 34 active archbishops in the United States live in buildings worth more than $1 million, according to church and government records.

That’s not counting hundreds of retired and active Catholic bishops in smaller cities, some of whom live equally large….

In addition to regal residences, many archbishops acquire other perks: live-in assistants, housekeepers, chauffeurs and cooks. Others live alone in roomy residences.

Below are some of the palatial homes of U.S. archbishops:

1. Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York leads the pack with this 15,000-square-foot mansion on Madison Avenue filled with thick red carpets and priceless antiques, in one of the priciest corridors of Manhattan, estimated to be worth at least $30 million.

2. Cardinal Francis George of Chicago lives in this mansion with 19 chimneys on 1.7 acres of prime real estate in the city’s ritzy Gold Coast neighborhood. It’s worth $14.3 million “as is,” but appraisers say the property could fetch far more.

3. Archbishop James Sartain of Seattle lives by himself in this three-story house,, appraised at $3.84 million.

4. Archbishop Leonard Blair of Hartford, Connecticut, lives in this nearly 9,000- square-foot mansion, appraised at $1.85 million.

5. Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami lives with his secretary, a priest, in this 5,350-square-foot, 6-bedroom, 6-bath house, worth more than $1.38 million. A tiki hut and pool in the backyard overlook Biscayne Bay.

6. Archbishop Robert Carlson of St. Louis, Missouri, lives in this 11,000-square-foot, castle-like mansion, once featured in an article on the “Palaces of St. Louis.” The home, which Carlson shares with a priest-secretary and 2 nuns who cook and clean for Carlson, is worth $1.4 million. In 2008, Carlson also bought a house in Estero, Florida, for $327,500.

7. Archbishop William Lori of Baltimore, Maryland, lives in this 11,500-square-foot building, worth about $1.24 million. with his priest-secretary and the rector of the Baltimore Basilica. The building is connected to the historic basilica by a passthrough.

8. Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller of San Antonio lives in this 5,000-square-foot residence, which includes a courtyard, a private chapel, a fireplace and a wet bar. The residence was built by Garcia-Siller’s predecessor in 2009 for $1.1 million, when the archdiocese was facing a budget shortfall that resulted in the firing of 11 full-time employees.

archbishop homes7

9. Archbishop John Myers of Newark, New Jersey spent $500,000 to add a wing to his $800,000 weekend/retirement house, which includes an indoor exercise pool, a hot tub, three fireplaces and a library. Critics questioned the expense on the church’s tab, given that the archdiocese closed a venerable Catholic elementary school, the Mater Dei Academy, two years ago.

10. Archbishop Jose Gomez of Los Angeles lives in a 26,000-square-foot rectory that was built in 2002 for $7 million.

11. Archbishop Samuel Aquila of Denver, Colorado, by now should be moved into the $6.5 million, 13,500-square-foot center that the Denver Archdiocese was building. The residence portion of the center includes living space for several other priests, at a cost of about $1.3 million.

Yesterday’s (Sunday) Gospel reading was from Mark 6:

“Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick—no food, no sack, no money in their belts….”

What a far cry the “apostles” of today’s Church, including the even more opulent and palatial St. Peter’s Cathedral at the Vatican, are from the humble and poor original apostles of our Lord.

Pro-abort lesbians attack Catholic archbishop

The time of the persecution of Christians is in Europe.

On January 13, 2013, 1.4 million Christians, including children and the elderly, peacefully marched in support of traditional marriage in Paris and were met with tear gas and batons.

On January 24, 2013, despite the overwhelming disapproval of the French populace of homosexual marriage, the socialists-dominated French parliament approved legislation authorizing same-sex couples to marry and to adopt children.

France protest1

Two days ago in Brussels, Belgium, an archbishop of the Catholic Church was attacked by four enraged pro-abortion lesbians who doused the priest with water from bottles shaped in the image of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ.

Leonard1

John-Henry Westen reports for LifeSiteNews that on April 23, 2013 at the ULB University in Brussels, Belgium, four topless women shouted and cursed as they attacked the head of the Catholic Church in Belgium, Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard, by dousing him with water.

The archbishop, who was at the university to participate in a debate on blasphemy law, remained calmly seated with his eyes serenely closed in prayer.

The four women, representing the “feminist” pro-abortion homosexual group FEMEN, took to the stage where they disrobed to reveal black-painted slogans on their bare chests and backs, such as “my body my rules,” and “anus dei is coming.” “Anus dei” is their mockery of Agnus Dei (Lamb of God), a liturgical prayer addressed to Christ as Savior. The women also held signs reading “stop homophobia”. The women doused the archbishop with water from bottles formed in the image of Blessed Mary, the mother of Christ.

For most of the attack, which lasted a number of minutes before the women could be forced off stage, Archbishop Leonard sat drenched with water with eyes closed in prayer. After the ordeal, the archbishop reverently kissed the image of the Virgin Mary on one of the water bottles that was used in the attack.

Leonard3

Le Soir reports that one of the interveners said of the archbishop: “He was very calm and maintained a position of prayer. I have to believe he was praying for us.”

According to FEMEN, Tuesday’s attack was spurred by an interview three weeks ago where Archbishop Leonard said that when speaking to Christians who are inclined to homosexuality he suggests celibacy, as is required for all single persons.

The FEMEN incident is not the first time Leonard has been attacked for standing up for the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and expressing his concern for those who live the homosexual lifestyle.

  • In 2007, then Bishop-of-Namur Leonard was accused of an offense against the Belgian anti-racism act for calling homosexual acts “abnormal”.  He was cleared of homophobia charges in 2008 after appearing in court.
  • In 2010, as the new archbishop of Brussels, Leonard was targeted by homosexualist groups, and condemned by the country’s prime minister, for speaking the truth — that AIDS is a consequence of risky sexual behavior, including homosexual sexual activity.
  • Also in 2010 Leonard was attacked at his Cathedral by a man who shoved a cherry pie in the archbishop’s face.
  • In 2011, homosexual activists at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve near Brussels threw a custard pie in Leonard’s face.

Archbishop Leonard has been a great supporter for the pro-life movement in Belgium, speaking at their inaugural March for Life in 2010.

Below are more — uncensored — pictures of the demonic attack on Archbishop Leonard (Source: De Standaard).

Please pray for Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard and for the Church in Europe.

Our time, too, will come and may already be here. Cardinal Francis George of Chicago had warned us about the coming persecution. Alarmed at Obama’s war against the Catholic Church and against religious liberty, Cardinal George said “I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison, and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.”

In the days before the November 6, 2012 presidential elections, Obama had urged his supporters to “vote for revenge,” while his malevolent senior adviser consigliere, the Iran-born Marxist Valerie Jarrett, vowed:

“After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.”

My brothers and sisters in Christ, let us “put on the armor of God” and stand “firm against the tactics of the devil … on the evil day.” And “having done everything,” we hold our ground and “stand fast,” with our “loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,” our “feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace” and “in all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6)

Evangelicals and faithful Catholics came through for Romney

Years and centuries from now, when our children and their descendants look back on the election of 2012, they will see that in the history written about that election, faithful Christians did what was right.

Alex Murashko reports for the Christian Post, November 8, 2012, that both evangelicals and faithful Catholics overcame whatever misgivings we had about Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith to turn out in droves to vote for him.

Among Catholics, it was the faithful and white Catholics who came through for Romney. Faithful or practicing Catholics (whom the media call “traditional Catholics,” a misnomer) are those who actually obey the Church’s rule of attending Sunday (or Saturday vigil) Mass every week. Not to do that is a mortal sin, which means that those Catholics who don’t are apostates.

Catholic voters who regularly attend Mass broke 67% for Romney to 32% for Obama. This represented a swing of 35% in the direction of the GOP since 2008. Romney also won white Catholics by a margin of 59% to 40%, a margin of 19 points among a group that historically has voted for the winner. Nevertheless, Obama still narrowly won the overall Catholic vote driven largely by over performing among Hispanic Catholics, who put their self-interest about immigration over and above Obama’s pro-abortion and pro-infanticide stance.

In voting for Obama, those white and Hispanic Catholics went against the explicit stricture of the Church on abortion being an intrinsic evil, the importance of which supercedes other considerations such as immigration and “social justice” concerns for the poor.

As for evangelical Christians, a national post-election survey by the Faith and Freedom Coalition (FFC) found that, unlike the Ron Paul cultists, evangelicals turned out to vote in record numbers, comparable to their turnout for George W. Bush in 2004. Ralph Reed, chairman of FFC, noted, “That is an astonishing outcome that few would have predicted even a few months ago.”

78% of evangelical Christian votes went to Romney; 21% to Obama. Reed intimated that those evangelicals who voted for Obama tend to be youths and minorities. In fact, as in 2008, not factoring religion or faith, Obama easily won the youth vote nationally, 67% to 30%.

The evangelical vote actually increased in 2012 to a record 27% of the electorate. This was the highest share of the vote in modern political history for evangelicals. Romney’s performance among evangelicals represented a net swing of 10% over John McCain’s performance in 2008.

Prior to the election, Reed had promised to use his coalition to mobilize an army of grassroots activists nationwide in order to get Christian voters to the polls in numbers never seen before. And Reed delivered on his promise. The coalition said it has distributed 30 million voter guides passed out in 117,000 churches, 24 million pieces of mail, and has made 23 million get-out-the-vote calls.

Virtually the entire increase in Mitt Romney’s vote compared to John McCain’s in 2008 came because of higher turnout and higher support from evangelical voters,” said Glen Bolger, the pollster who conducted the survey.

Putting the issue of voters’ faith aside, Romney did better than McCain in 2008 in almost every demographic category. But Obama was helped by a strong turnout from his own party and Latinos [and Democrat voter fraud, Ron Paul cultists’ abstention, and the Obama administration’s suppression of the military vote. See my post, “Why we lost the 2012 election.”]

Faith and Family Coalition’s post-election survey was conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and included interviewing 1,600 actual 2012 voters. The margin of error is +/- 2.45%.

And so, Obama is reelected to a second term not for lack of effort from faithful Christians. We did the right thing. We overcame our theological differences with Mormonism because we correctly recognize that Obama and the Democrats represent true evil. We turned out in even larger numbers than in 2008 and voted overwhelmingly for religious liberty, the sanctity of life and marriage, and limited government.

We lost the political battle. But we can stand before God in good conscience as His faithful servants. We did “put on the armor of God” and stood “firm against the tactics of the devil … on the evil day.” “Having done everything,” we now hold our ground and “stand fast,” with our “loins girded in truth, clothed with righteousness as a breastplate,” our “feet shod in readiness for the gospel of peace” and “in all circumstances, hold faith as a shield, to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6)

We will need that shield because the faithful Christian vote is not lost on Obama and the Demonrats. So be prepared for their reprisals, mindful that Obama had already pronounced that his supporters would “vote for revenge,” while his malevolent senior adviser consigliere, the Iran-born Marxist Valerie Jarrett, has vowed:

“After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time. No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.”

We have been warned by Cardinal Francis George of Chicago about the coming persecution. Alarmed about Obama’s war against the Catholic Church and against religious liberty, Cardinal George said “I expect to die in bed, my successor will die in prison and his successor will die a martyr in the public square.”

The Day America Committed Suicide

“Every nation has the government it deserves.”

So observed a very wise man — Count Joseph-Marie de Maistre (1753-1821), a French philosopher and diplomat.

Future historians (if there are any) will record that on November 6, 2012, the no longer United States of America committed suicide.

We, the Opposition — comprised of Conservatives, Christians, Libertarians, and Patriots — had been telling ourselves that the polls showing a tight race must be wrong. Because the pollsters over sample Democrats. Because “nobody” have landline phones anymore. Because so many polling organizations are corrupt. Because….

In the end, it turns out the polls not only were right, they were overly optimistic for Romney.

In the end, the Electoral College vote count wasn’t even close:

332 for Obama v. 206 for Romney

In the end, instead of Romney winning by a landslide, it was the POS winning by an avalanche. The POS even won the popular vote: 62,615,406 vs. Romney’s 59,142,004. [Source: FoxNews]

Romney won Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, No. Dakota, Oklahoma, So. Carolina, So. Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

POS won California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

In the end, the swing states of Ohio and Virginia swung to the POS. As of this writing, Florida — with 97% of precincts having reported — is still a toss-up (O 50% vs. R 49%). Not that it matters.

Was it massive Demonrat electoral fraud that did it?

Was it Demonrats’ intimidation — all the threats of riots and assassination, and videos of 97-year-olds threatening to “burn this motherfucker down” and of Romney supporters being maimed, decapitated and exploded — that got to gutless voters?

We can debate all we want. Sure, there’ll be feeble efforts at “investigating” and of lawsuits. But the POS’s so-called Department of “Justice” under his henchman, the so-called “U.S. attorney general” — Amerika’s chief law enforcer! — Eric Holder, will simply stonewall everything.

But I do know this:

The sheeple who voted for the POS so that they’ll keep getting government handouts, welfare, and entitlement checks are in for a rude shock. Amerika is broke. As we Cassandras have been warning here on Fellowship of the Minds:

  • Our national debt is over $16 trillion — more than Amerika’s gross national product.
  • The main Social Security program — the so-called SS “Trust Fund” — will run out of money even sooner than we’d been told — by 2023, instead of 2033. When that happens, BY LAW your Social Security checks will be cut by 25%.

The above bankrupt dates will now be shortened now that the POS and his Demonrats have four more years to overspend, without restraint. And if you think taxing “the rich” will plug the gaping deficit hole — not that taxing “the rich” 100% can fill the hole — you’re delusional.

Unlike the delusional sheeple sucking on Big Government’s teats, “the rich” have both the resources, the means, and the will to simply leave the “United” States. Just as “the rich” in France have and are, after the French sheeple voted in a socialist government that immediately imposed a draconian 75% tax on “the rich.”

Congratulations, my fellow selfish, lazy, envious, covetous, willfully ignorant, stupid, and just plain evil Amerikans.

Yesterday, you voted for a thoroughly evil man and evil party. In so doing, you voted for your own doom. The next four years will be four years of one financial disaster after another. The next four years will see your constitutional freedoms fall, one after another. And if you complain, you sheeple will finally discover:

  • What Obama’s senior adviser consigliere, the Iran-born Marxist Valerie Jarrett, meant when she vowed: “After we win this election, it’s our turn. Payback time. Everyone not with us is against us and they better be ready because we don’t forget. The ones who helped us will be rewarded, the ones who opposed us will get what they deserve. There is going to be hell to pay. Congress won’t be a problem for us this time.No election to worry about after this is over and we have two judges ready to go.”
  • Why there’ve been sightings across Amerika of trucks jammed full of “Martial Law” signs. (FOTM decided not to report this, not wanting to make you “nervous” before the election.)

*Faithful Catholics who attend Mass weekly went for Romney.

For as long as Obama, the Demonrats, and WordPress choose to keep the Internet free, Fellowship of the Minds will continue to chronicle Amerika’s descent into the abyss. Just don’t be surprised when one morning you fire up your computer to come on FOTM to discover we’re not around any more. When that day comes, don’t say I haven’t warned you….

In sorrow,

~Eowyn
