General strike, rally called for this weekend in Seattle

trump-triggeredFrom MyNorthwest.com: Better stock up on essentials before the weekend — just in case. A National General Strike, a Seattle area strike, and a rally have been called for. And as with any event in Seattle, whether it be a Seahawks game or a protest march, locals should plan for traffic and other interruptions.

A general strike means no working, no school, and no shopping. For many people, this should be easy. According to the Facebook event for the general strike, it will run from Feb. 17-20 (Friday through Monday). It covers the weekend and Presidents Day, which some workers have off as a holiday.

The event is organized by General Strike USA. It’s a bit wordy, but according to the event page:

WE DEMAND RECONSTITUTION. Disrupt the economy until we have a government, instead of being had by one. This is how we stop Trump and the entire corrupt political establishment before they destroy us and the planet we call home.

At this dangerous point in our history, we must confront a bitter truth: any political system that can allow Donald Trump to come to power is not a system worth keeping. Indeed, our elections, as controlled by the major political parties, offer us merely a contest of personalities rather than a choice between real alternatives. These contests mask the major parties’ underlying unity in a neoliberal economic establishment that serves the wealthy few at the expense of the impoverished many.

The general strike promotes a change of the system, not a change within the system, and encourages dismantling the establishment.

So far, the Facebook event has more than 2,000 people signed up, nationally, to participate, with 3,000 more interested in taking part. And 22,000 more have been invited to strike.

General strike in Seattle: A separate, unrelated general strike is organized in Seattle amid the national event. The Solidarity Strike is slated to take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., Feb. 17 at Volunteer Park in Seattle. It is organized by Solidarity for Justice in Education.

As the organization’s name implies, the strike is more focused on Washington’s education system as lawmakers are in session, attempting to fully fund it. The State of Washington has been ordered by its own Supreme Court to fully fund education. But there has been a tug-of-war between Democrats and Republicans on just how to do that.

The event notice states: Solidarity Demonstration to #Resist the WA Senate Republican proposal to fund education by undermining collective bargaining rights of Education Workers. All Labor Unions are welcome and encouraged to stand in support of this Legislative attack on Unions. No Right to Work in Washington.

The Seattle event has 1,300 people interested in taking part, and 324 confirmed to go. There are 1,600 more invited to come. Comments on the event’s page seem to have a theme — it would have a better turnout if organizers planned it on the weekend, instead of during the workday.

Free Daniel rally: Before Seattle’s strike in Volunteer Park, another event has been put together at the last minute by a range of organizers, including Seattle Councilmember Kshama Sawant.

The “Free Daniel Rally Against Deportations Fight Trump!” is scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Seattle Federal Courthouse in downtown Seattle. At least 1,000 people are interested in attending, and more than 200 have committed to going. Another 1,400 have been invited.

The event is partially motivated by a series of immigration roundups and detainments. Then, locally, Daniel Ramirez Medina was detained after he had an encounter with the law. He is covered under regulations passed under the Obama administration that allows immigrants who entered the country as minors to stay in renewable two-year periods. That regulation is known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.

The Facebook event states: Over the last week, Trump’s administration has detained and deported 600+ immigrants. Here in Seattle, on Tuesday 2/14, Daniel Ramirez Medina, a 23-year-old father who has received repeated approval to stay and work under the DACA program, was taken by ICE.  Medina has a court appearance on Friday during the rally.

The Department of Homeland Security argues another perspective. It says that those protected under DACA can be deported if they are perceived as threats to public safety.

According to a press release from DHS:

On February 10, Daniel Ramirez-Medina, a gang member, was encountered at a residence in Des Moines, Washington, during an operation targeting a prior-deported felon. He was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and was transferred to the Northwest Detention Center to await the outcome of removal proceedings before an immigration judge.

This case illustrates the work ICE fugitive operations teams perform every day across the country to remove public safety threats from our communities when they encounter them. ICE officers, along with their law enforcement partners, have and will continue to enforce our nation’s laws to protect public safety, national security, and to preserve the integrity of our immigration system.”

Women’s March in Seattle hurt holiday sales in Chinatown-International District

Good job libtards! Your butt hurt damaged minority businesses. Aren’t you proud of yourselves?

From Seattle Times: Before the Womxn’s (the Seattle Times spelled it this way. I wonder why…?) March in Seattle last Saturday, some businesses and community members in Chinatown International District were concerned that the march could disrupt sales on what is typically the biggest shopping day of the year for some of the neighborhood’s stores.

They were right.

“It was a big hit for us,” said Leeching Tran, vice president of Viet-Wah Supermarket, which is located on Jackson Street, along the march route from Judkins Park in the Central District to Seattle Center.

Sales at Viet-Wah were 65 percent lower that day compared with the same Saturday before Lunar New Year a year ago. “We set up a little concession stand outside the march and that helped a little bit,” Tran said. “But it really didn’t offset the amount of loss we had that day.”

Sales the next day, which were roughly equal to that of a year ago, weren’t enough to offset Saturday’s loss either, she said.

The march for women’s rights and in protest of President Trump drew an estimated 100,000 to 120,000 people.

That day also happened to be the last Saturday before Lunar New Year, an important holiday in many Asian cultures, which falls on Jan. 28 this year. Many people shop on that last weekend, especially on Saturday, to prepare for the holiday’s festivities and gatherings.

It’s akin to the Black Friday day of shopping that marks the beginning of the Christmas season, said Jamie Lee, program manager for the Seattle Chinatown International District (CID) Preservation and Development Authority.

Restaurants in the CID tended to do well as people from the march stopped in to eat, she said. Grocery stores, though, saw a huge drop in sales. “Paying $10 for a bowl of noodles” doesn’t really offset “someone who patronizes Viet-Wah and does $500 of shopping for Lunar New Year,” she said.

Lee says she supported the march but “our biggest trouble was the lack of outreach done to notify the businesses.”

Uwajimaya, the big Asian grocery store located off the main march route, also saw the difference between sales of prepared foods and grocery items. Its deli exceeded last year’s Saturday before Lunar New Year sales by $4,000, said store director Alann Hamada. But sales at the store itself were down $25,000, more than 17 percent.

The store did make up for some of those losses this week, but “it is quite the challenge as a business to want to support the march at the same time losing the funds you need to pay your people,” he said.

The CID’s annual Lunar New Year Festival was moved from last weekend to this weekend because of the march, Hamada said. “Hopefully marchers will come back to the district to celebrate the new year,” he said.

FedEx Driver Stops Leftist Punks From Burning American Flags

On Thursday, January 26, a FedEx courier, Matt Uhrin of Cedar Rapids, rushed into a group of protesters who were burning American flags on the Iowa City pedestrian mall in front of the Old Capitol Mall and tried to extinguish the flames, sparking a confrontation.

Here’s a video of the incident:

Here are a couple of screenshots:

FedEx issued this rather noncommital statement on the Iowa City flag burning incident:

“FedEx has reviewed the facts of the incident and interviewed our courier to better understand what took place. As with all personnel issues, we are handling the matter internally.”

Please sign a petition asking that Uhrin keeps his job. Click here.

An Angry Libtard: ‘Avengers’ director Joss Whedon calls Ivanka Trump a dog

joss-whedon

These lefties better seek help. Otherwise they are in for a LOOOOOONG four years.

From NY Post: “Avengers” director Joss Whedon went after President Trump‘s daughter Ivanka Trump, likening her to a Pekingese dog, and called her husband Jared Kushner a “Voldemort in training.”

The filmmaker tweeted alongside a picture of Kushner, “Hey, keep your eyes on this f–king prize too. He’s a Voldemort in training, & unlike the Pekingese he married under, can play the long game.”

Fans immediately called out the self-proclaimed feminist Whedon for comparing Ivanka Trump to a breed of small, yappy dogs.

Whedon’s tweet comes not long after he slammed Nicole Kidman for urging people to support the president and accept the election results. He shared a picture of Kidman next to a Lady Penelope doll to make fun of her “plastic” appearance.

He also brought things to a new level when he took to Twitter earlier this month with a profane, violent message about House Speaker Paul Ryan.

“Violence solves nothing. I want a rhino to f–k @SpeakerRyan to death with its horn because it’s FUNNY, not because he’s a #GOPmurderbro,” Whedon, best known for creating “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Firefly” and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” tweeted.

Chelsea Handler says Melania Trump ‘barely speaks English’

chelsea-handler

Chelsea has such an inflated ego. What makes her believe that Melania and Donald would grant her an interview on her Netflix show? And why isn’t Chelsea in Spain?

From Fox News: Chelsea Handler took a swipe at Melania Trump saying she wouldn’t interview the First Lady because “she can barely speak English.”

Perhaps the comedian, who does not hold a college degree, should do her research first. The First Lady speaks at least five languages, including English, French, Italian, German, and Slovene.

This isn’t the first time the “Chelsea” host has gone after Melania Trump’s accent. She shared several tweets over the course of the presidential campaign making fun of the First Lady.

Handler told Variety she wouldn’t interview President Donald Trump for her Netflix show either even if he personally requested to be a guest. “I don’t respect either one of those people,” she said.

Handler then launched into a speech about “divisiveness” not being “the answer” and the need to “reach across party lines.” An interesting appeal considering Handler’s comments about the President and First Lady.

“Divisiveness is not the answer,” Handler explained. “And I think to get that message, we have to reach across party lines, forget your party. I’m registering as an Independent. I’m not gonna be a Democrat anymore because it’s too divisive. This isn’t working, this two-party system.”

When asked what she would tell the President if she saw him at Sundance. “F–k off. I mean, gross.”

A rep for Handler did not return Fox News’ request for comment.

Libtards are unhinged and dangerous: Anti-Trump protestor lights a girl’s hair on fire

Remember folks, #LoveTrumpsHate!

From the You Tube description: “This happened on Inauguration Day in Washington DC just after Donald Trump swore into office. Everything had been fine up until this moment, and it just comes to show that “Peaceful” Protests aren’t always what they seem to be.”

Secret Service will investigate Madonna for her “blow up the White House” remark in expletive-filled rant at women’s march

Time to take the agitators down a notch.

From Daily Mail: The Secret Service has reportedly said it will open an investigation into Madonna after the singer told the Women’s March on Washington that she had thought about ‘blowing up the White House’.

Donning a black p***yhat, the music icon caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb four times, sparking a slew of apologies from broadcasters airing the protest live. She went on to speak of her rage at the election result, telling the crowd she had thought a lot about ‘blowing up the White House’ but knew that it ‘wouldn’t change anything’.

According to the Gateway Pundit, a spokesman for the Secret Service said they were ‘aware’ of Madonna’s comments and will open an investigation, but the ultimate decision whether or not to prosecute is the decision of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The Secret Service declined to comment on the matter.

Madonna stated in her impassioned speech: ‘I’m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House. But I know that this won’t change anything. We cannot fall into despair. As the poet W. H. Auden once wrote on the eve of World War Two, “We must love one another or die.” I choose love. Are you with me?’

Her speech was met with raucous applause from the crowd of an estimated half a million people in attendance at the National Mall for the march.

Tempers ran high as marchers took to Washington D.C.  to oppose Donald Trump’s new presidency – with Ashley Judd joining Madonna in spewing lewd rants against the new President.

The Hollywood actress and the pop star departed from the general spirit of inclusivity and calls for mutual respect with personal attacks not only on Trump but also his family, including daughter Ivanka.

They say well-behaved women rarely make history, and Judd clearly took that quote to heart as she recited a poem written by a 19-year-old from Tennessee. ‘I feel Hitler in these streets, a mustache traded for a toupee,’ she said.

‘I am a nasty woman,’ she continued – referencing Donald’s famous attack on Hillary Clinton. ‘I’m not as nasty as a man who looks like he bathes in Cheeto dust. ‘I’m not as nasty as your own daughter being your favorite sex symbol, your wet dreams infused with your own genes’.
