Woman in a coma with brain cancer gives birth to 24-week-old baby

Your antidote to those who say “yay” to abortion.
From Fox News: A 37-year-old woman who has been in a coma since July, gave birth to a baby girl via emergency cesarean section on Wednesday, at just 24 weeks gestation. The baby, named Life Lynn, is the youngest of Carrie Deklyen’s six children, and weighs 1 lbs., 4 ounces.
Dekylen, of Wyoming, Michigan, discovered she was pregnant in April, just two weeks after being diagnosed with glioblastoma. She underwent two surgeries to remove the tumor and, along with her husband, Nick, chose to forego a clinical trial in order to protect the baby.
“I asked her what she wanted to do. She said, ‘We are keeping it,’” Nick told ABC News on Aug. 15. “That was always my choice too, but I wanted her to decide because it was her life we were talking about.”
The family started the “Cure 4 Carrie” Facebook page and a GoFundMe page to keep supporters updated on Dekylen and Life. A September 2 post indicated that Dekylen, who has been on life support at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor since suffering a stroke five weeks ago, is completely unresponsive.
“I just spoke with Nick and he wanted me to update,” Sonya Nelson, Deklyen’s sister-in-law, posted on the Facebook page. “We have tried to share Carrie’s story without being negative, but the bottom line is we need to share the reality of the situation. Carrie is not doing well. For the past few days she has been completely unresponsive, she is not even responding to pain.”
Nelson said that Life was measuring in the 3 percentile for her gestational age at the time, and that the family was asking for prayers. On Thursday, Nelson said that doctors were pleased with Life’s status.
Previous posts had stated that Dekylen’s tumor was showing rapid growth, and doctors were forced to drain fluid from her brain several times. Doctors had hoped to delay delivery until 28 weeks gestation, but a decline in both Life and Dekylen’s health had forced them to act earlier. A post on July 30 said doctors had planned to turn off life support once the baby had been delivered.
In addition to Life, the couple’s children range in ages from 18 to 2, and Nick said that while the older ones understand the circumstances, the younger ones are relatively unaware.
“The older ones obviously understand everything so it is very hard on them,” he told ABC News. “They love their mother and know what they are losing. We talk about good times and laugh and then sometimes we just cry because we just so much. The younger two do not really understand what is happening.”
He said Nelson has been helping to watch the children, and that “we tell them that Mommy is really sick.”

What’s That Scar On Obama’s Head?

Just what we need: Another mystery about the man of mystery.

The latest mystery about Obama — no, it’s not his birth certificate — has to do with the appearance of a strange long scar on Obama’s head.

The Daily Mail reports on April 6, 2011, that a question circulating on the internet is whether Obama had had brain surgery. (DM did not name the blogger, but it’s probably Ben Hart of EscapeTyranny.com who first raised the scar issue on the Internet.)

As you can see in the pictures below, Obama appears to have a very long scar from ear to ear — up the left side of his head, over his crown, then down the right side of his head. All the images you’ll see below are from the Daily Mail article. Note that these are not photoshopped pics, but are photos taken by Getty Images.

The enhanced images of Obama’s left and right scars are NOT photoshopped. Nothing fake has been added or subtracted from the original, but through digital enhancement of the original photo, light and dark contrasts are made more emphatic.

The Daily Mail reports:
Some conspiracy theorists claim they are scars that you would see on someone who has had brain surgery. But without medical records (along with his school records and birth certificate) no one seems to be able to provide an answer as to the cause of the mystery scars.
Ben Hart, a blogger for Escape The Tyranny a website which presents itself as a Social Network & Forum For Conservatives, said: ‘Obama’s almost done with his first term, and we still know almost nothing about the background of the President of the United States. Whatever happened to create that scar, it was clearly something serious. Was it a brain operation? Has it affected his thinking? No one is allowed to see his birth certificate. He is just one big mystery man, which adds intrigue to what that huge scar is all about.’
[…] A spokeswoman from the White House said they were not willing to comment on such claims, saying they were ‘ridiculous’.
Countless neurosurgeons said it is ‘not their place’ to comment on whether or not the distinctive scars on the President’s head are as a result of brain surgery. Others offered explanations such as a bad haircut or even a birthmark though many did agree that the scars are similar to those  produced after a major brain surgery.
Without medical records or an admission from the White House, the public may never know the answer to the question, along with the contents of his birth certificate.

UPDATE (4.9.11):

I woke up this morning with the thought that I should try to find photos of people who’ve had brain surgery to compare with these pics of Obama’s scar. A quick Google search for images of “brain surgery scars” found many pics of scars that resemble Obama’s. Below are three examples:
A boy named Matthew:

Matthew’s scar from his brain surgery

Matthew Passarella was diagnosed with an inoperable brain stem tumor in 2001 at the age of seven. To date he’s had four brain surgeries. Read Matthew’s story on his dad’s webpage.
The most recent update I could find on Matthew was dated May 1, 2009. He just had his annual check up at Johns Hopkins and the doctor said he’s doing well.
2. A man named Chris:

Chris Sanderson’s scar after brain surgery

Chris Sanderson, 36, is a native of Canada who presently resides in Pennington, New Jersey. One of the greatest field lacrosse goalie that Canada has ever produced, Sanderson represented Canada in the (Lacrosse) World Games to win a silver medal in 2002 and a gold medal in 2006. In December 2008, he was diagnosed with a grade IV malignant brain tumor called Glioblastoma Multiforme, the most aggressive form of brain cancer that is almost always terminal, with an average survival duration of 9 to 12 months. He’s undergone brain surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Sanderson’s last MRI on March 15, 2011, found no evidence of disease.
3. A woman named Andrea:

Andrea’s scar

One morning in September 2007, “perfectly normal and healthy” 41-year-old Andrea woke up with a numb leg. A brain MRI discovered a congenital Arteriovenus Malformation (AVM) that was about to burst. AVM is an abnormal collection of blood vessels where blood from arteries in the brain flows directly into draining veins without the normal capillaries in between.
Andrea had never experienced a bad headache or migraine, although she had been brain seizures for the last 6 months which she attributed to stress or psychic powers. The next month, she underwent brain surgery. The AVM was completely removed.
From these pics of three individuals who have scars on their skull which resemble Obama’s scar, I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon to conclude that the scar on Obama’s head most likely was from a brain surgery.
No wonder Obama, to this day, continues to refuse to release his medical records!
