Teaching guide for Portland public schools celebrates Islam, communists, terrorists, abortion; promotes gun control & transgenders

U.S. public schools are no longer about teaching students facts, information, and how to read and write. It’s all about “changing the world” in accordance with what the Left call “social justice” — code words for Marxism.

In an exclusive for the Gateway Pundit, Brock Simmons reports, Aug. 29, 2018, that 3,500 public school teachers in Portland, Oregon, are given an $18 teaching guide meant for children as young as 5 years old.

The guide, Planning to Change The World – A Plan Book For Social Justice Teachers, is produced by the Education for Liberation Network, published in partnership with Rethinking Schools, and is suffused with Marxist propaganda.

To begin, the teaching guide states its purpose as:

Planning to Change the World is a plan book for teachers who believe their students can and do create meaningful social change….

This plan book is designed to help teachers translate their visions of a just education into concrete classroom activities. It is both a daily reminder of the importance of teaching for justice and a collection of tools to help you do just that. Planning to Change the World is packed with important social justice birthdays and historical events, words of wisdom from visionary leaders, lesson plans, resources, social justice education happenings and much more.

And what is the teaching guide’s conception of the “social justice” that students are encouraged to “change the world” into?

It is a vision that celebrates Islam (while downplaying Christianity), communists and domestic terrorists; promotes gun-control and “transgenders”; celebrates abortion; and trashes America’s July 4 and Thanksgiving holidays.

Islam

The teaching guide gives prominence to:

  • The Muslim holidays of Eid al-Adha on August 20 and Muharram on September 11.
  • A quote by activist Pervez Musharraf: “Islam teaches tolerance, not hatred; universal brotherhood, not enmity; peace, and not violence.”

While the teaching guide’s calendar does acknowledge Christmas Day, the word “Christmas” is in a thinner type font, whereas the wholly concocted “African American” holiday of Kwanzaa and the Mexican Cinco de Mayo on May 5 get bold type fonts.

Communists

The teaching guide:

  • Celebrates the anniversary of the founding of Communist North Korea on September 9, and the anniversary on December 4 of the El Congreso del Pueblos de Habla Espanola, an organization linked to communist sympathizers; and the birthday of Marxist intellectual Noam Chomsky on December 7. No mention is made of Imperial Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7.
  • Features quotes by known Marxists, including:
    • The Left’s perennial favorite Che Guvara: “I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves.”
    • Black Nationalist Marcus Garvey: “We are not rebels and revolutionaries, but humans who will no longer be denied our humanity.”

Terrorists

  • Celebrates the birthday of Fred Hampton, the founder of domestic terrorists Black Panthers, including a quote from him on the need for Black racial solidarity.
  • Features quotes by:
    • Assata Shakur, a violent Black Panther activist who escaped from prison and fled to Cuba in the 1970’s after murdering a police officer in New Jersey. She is one of the FBI’s most wanted, with a $2 million reward for her capture.
    • Black Panther and Communist Party member Angela Davis, who purchased guns that were used in a courthouse shoot out in the 1960’s: “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”
    • Black Panther James Forman: “We are not born revolutionary. Revolutionaries are forged through constant struggle and the study of revolutionary ideas and experiences.”
    • Roger Alvarado, a member of the Third World Liberation Front, which conducted a series of violent student protests in California in the 1960’s, including his quote: “We need a change, we need a change in education if we are ever going to be able to relate to our people in a real way. In elementary schools, in secondary schools, we ourselves need a change — right here.”

Gun Control & Transgenders

The teaching guide’s calendar devotes the month of April to gun control with the quote: “How and why are schoolchildren uniquely and powerfully positioned to demand gun control?”

On transgenders, the teaching guide:

  • Includes a special feature on “15 Everyday Ways to Affirm Trans and Gender Nonconforming (TGNC) Students” to help teachers to stop use terms such as “boys and girls”, “men and women” and “ladies and gentlemen” because they are offensive and oppressive to “those who are neither, both or bits of each”.
  • Quotes “transgender” actor Laverne Cox: “Each and every one of us has the capacity to be an oppressor. I want to encourage each and every one of us to interrogate how we might be an oppressor, and how we might be able to become liberators for ourselves and each other.”

The teaching guide also celebrates the 30th anniversary of Roe v. Wade on April 9, and trashes Thanksgiving, calling it the “National Day of Mourning”, and July 4 by quoting a Sioux author: “The White man must no longer project his fears and insecurities onto other groups, races and countries. Before the White man can relate to others he must forgo the pleasure of defining them.”

Weekend Open Thread: Zimmerman, Race Relations, Media

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial, we have always been and we — I believe continue to be in too many ways essentially a nation of cowards,”

Eric Holder    02-18-2009

Told to Department of Justice employees at an event  celebrating Black History Month.

———————————————————————————————–

OK, Eric let’s discus the state of racial relations in this country since you and your boss started healing us.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury (FOTM), I’d like to throw a few things out and see what you guys think.

First this Zimm/Martin Trial is really getting under my skin. I do not know what happened, but it seems it does not matter to a certain segment of society who have threatened to riot and murder win, lose or draw. How di you feel about that?

I would really like to reach out to some of our silent readers on this. Especially if you happen to be black. Please help me understand the mentality/hatred of Zimmerman (now called a “white Hispanic” by CNN) and of all “whites”.

Also how has the media slanted all this. How badly have they played the racial angle?

What about people like Sharpton and Jackson? If people are hurt/killed, should they not be held responsible?

Eric Holder, where are you on this? Freeing more Black Panthers?

Speaking of which don’t you think it might/should be against the law to hand out “Wanted” posters on Zimmerman like the New Black Panthers did?

Last but not least, do you think our great Unifier (“If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon”) should maybe make some kind of statement calling for calm?

These are just some random thoughts to get things going. What else is bugging ya about the whole mess?

Feel free to have a good ole RANT!!!. Just keep it somewhat clean.

Have fun, shred someone, and just be nice to each other. Woe be any troll who stumbles upon here by intent or accident. We will smush you, you are forewarned.

Have a lovely weekend.

Chicago trying to arrest gang members, Black Panthers protest

gangster
Kirk, Rush to meet about controversial gang proposal
Chicago Tribune: Sen. Mark Kirk’s proposal for mass arrests of Chicago’s Gangster Disciples triggered a small protest outside his Chicago office on Monday just as Rep. Bobby Rush — who dismissed the plan as an “upper-middle-class, white-boy solution” — announced he’ll meet with Kirk on Tuesday to talk about the issue.
Fred Hampton Jr., the son of slain Black Panther Fred Hampton Sr., led a handful of other activists who condemned the Republican senator’s idea, which he floated last month.
Hampton Jr., 43, called the proposal a war on the African-American community and charged it would encourage police to stop, question, harass and arrest young black men.
“This is nothing other than a euphemism for an intense war to be waged against the black community,” said Hampton Jr., who chairs the Prisoners of Conscience Committee and the Black Panther Party Cubs, both African-American grassroots groups.
black panthers
He and a handful of other activists gathered for about a half hour holding signs outside Kirk’s office at 230 S. Dearborn St.
“Take into account the history of how the City of Chicago has used such language,” Hampton Jr. said. “What we’ve seen is, there was the war on drugs and guns. That war made it justified … to shoot young brothers in the back, to close public schools, to make mass arrests under the umbrella of a war on gangs or guns.”
Hampton’s father was killed in 1969 during a law enforcement raid involving the Chicago police, the Cook County state’s attorney’s office and the FBI. Hampton Sr. was a rising star in the Illinois Black Panther Party, which Rush co-founded and helped lead.
Debra Johnson, a spokeswoman for Rush, a Chicago Democrat, said the lawmaker stood by his criticism of Kirk even though he viewed gang violence not as a “black or white issue, but a national issue.”
Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., will join the two at the meeting, Johnson said. Durbin’s office had no comment.
Last week Kirk said he wanted the 18,000-strong Gangster Disciples crushed and would seek $30 million in federal money for the effort. He spoke to reporters on Wednesday after he and Durbin met with Zachary Fardon, nominee for the top federal prosecutor’s job in Chicago.
Kirk later spoke to Carol Marin on WTTW-TV’s “Chicago Tonight,” saying he’d met last Tuesday with top officials of the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The officials told him it was key to give gang members long federal prison sentences in another state and “render them completely ineffective,” Kirk said.
Kirk’s office had no comment on the protest.
Heaven forbid the City of Chicago try to arrest those poor widdle gangsters. You’d think Hampton Jr. would be concerned about the intense war waged on Chicago citizens through the gun violence in the city. But that’s probably a racist idea.

Doing the Trayvon race hustle

The dictionary defines “race hustler” as “individuals of a particular race who project themselves into the media spotlight as spokespersons whenever there is an alledged racial incident which involves their race. The use of the word ‘Hustler’, included as a part of the term, also implies that these individuals exploit a racial situation to serve their own interests.”
Jesse Jackson is a race hustler who is exploiting the tragic shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Jackson calls Trayvon a “martyr” and says “blacks are under attack.”
Barack Obama is a race hustler, saying on March 23 “If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” Imagine the hue and cry if a white President had said that about a white victim of a black shooting.

Here are more race hustlers:

Congressman Bobby Rush (D-Ill.), a former Black Panther, was removed from the House of Representatives this morning for his hoodie grandstanding “in honor” of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen shot last month.
A visibly frustrated Rep. Gregg Harper (R-Miss.), the speaker pro tempore presiding over the morning session, said: “The member will suspend. The member is no longer recognized. The chair will ask the sergeant-at-arms to enforce the rules on decorum.”
Clause 5 of House Rule No. 17 prohibits the wearing of hats on the House floor.

Congresswoman Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Florida) calls the shooting “racial profiling.” She said, “Trayvon Martin’s murderer is still at large. It’s been one month, thirty days, with no arrest. I want America to see this sweet young boy who was hunted down like a dog, shot in the street, and his killer is still at large […] even though we all know who the murderer is. This was a standard case of racial profiling. No more! No more! We will stand for justice for Treyvon Martin.”
[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zNZczIgVXjg]
Congressman Hank Johnson (D-Georgia) says Trayvon “was executed for ‘WWB’ in a ‘GC.’ Walking While Black in a Gated Community.” Johnson is the genius who, in a House Armed Services Committee hearing in 2010, expressed his trepidation that moving 8,000 marines to Guam would tip over the island.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) calls the Trayvon shooting a “hate crime.” A Marxist, Waters is among the most corrupt of Congress, named by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington to its list of corrupt members of Congress in its 2005, 2006 and 2009 reports, and by Citizens Against Government Waste as its June 2009 Porker of the Month. Waters has also been accused of stealing from funds donated for Haiti’s earthquake relief.

Most reprehensible of all is director Spike Lee.
Last Friday Lee retweeted to his 240,000 followers a tweet containing the purported address of Trayvon’s shooter George Zimmerman. But the address on Edgewater Circle in Sanford, Florida, is actually the longtime residence of an elderly white Florida couple, David and Elaine McClain.
The McClains, who are both in their 70s, have no connection to Zimmerman and are now living in fear. Elaine McClain is a school-cafeteria lunch lady and has a heart condition. The couple have received hate mail, unwanted visits from reporters and fearful inquiries from neighbors. They’ve fled their home and have temporarily moved to a hotel to avoid the spotlight and possible danger.
Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor contacted Spike Lee’s production company “40 Acres and a Mule.”  Instead of issuing a statement or an apology, the executive office said Spike Lee had “no comment.” Although Lee’s tweet has been removed, it continues to be retweeted.

Where’s the outrage by these race hustlers about the all-too-prevalent black-on-black murders?

According to a U.S. Department of Justice report surveying homicide statistics between 1974 and 2004, 52.2% of the offenders were Black, 45.8% were White, and 2% were Other Races. Of the victims in those homicides, 50.9% were White, 46.9% were Black, and 2.1% were Other Races. The report stated that “most murders are intraracial” with 86% of White murders committed by Whites, and 94% of Black murders committed by Blacks.

UPDATE:

Late Wednesday (Mar. 28) night, Spike Lee finally apologized to the McClains with this tweet, “I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address. It Was a Mistake. Please Leave The McClain’s [sic] in Peace.”

Filthy Pigs of "Occupy Wall Street"

[Disclaimer: Apologies to the animals called pigs.]
The older generations of readers of Fellowship of the Minds well remember that the 1960s radical Left (such as the Black Panthers and Obama’s Chicago friends, former Weather Underground urban terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn) called the police “pigs.”
Like so many things about the Left, once again it’s a case of psychological projection.
Take a look at these pics of Zuccotti Park, the site of the 3-week long Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. You’ll see who the pigs really are.

A protester defecates against a police car

Brookfield Office Properties, which owns Zuccotti Park, the site of the New York demonstration, said the protesters are creating sanitation problems. Brookfield said in a statement:
“Sanitation is a growing concern. Normally the park is cleaned and inspected every week night. . . because the protesters refuse to cooperate. . .the park has not been cleaned since Friday, September 16th and as a result, sanitary conditions have reached unacceptable levels.”
