All Time Low: American Music Awards ratings plunge 29 percent with politically charged show

Taylor Swift trying to sway your vote…

From Fox News: The politically charged 2018 American Music Awards produced dismal viewership, setting an all-time low rating for the annual special.

According to Variety, Tuesday night’s “American Music Awards” on ABC earned a disappointing 1.8 rating among the key demo of adults age 18-49 with 6.5 million total viewers, according to the Hollywood trade publication. The total was down 25 percent compared to its 2.4 demo rating in 2017.

The show – which aired on a Tuesday as opposed to the typical Sunday — dropped approximately 29 percent in total viewers after drawing 9.2 million last year, the outlet reports.

During the low-rated show, Taylor Swift – who recently broke her longtime political silence by slamming Republican Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn — urged fans to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

“This award and every single award given out tonight were voted on by the people,” the 28-year-old popstar said while accepting the Artist of the Year award, Swift’s third win of the night. She continued: “And you know what else is voted on by the people is the midterm elections on Nov. 6. Get out and vote. I love you guys.”

Comedian Billy Eichner called the upcoming midterms “the biggest election of our lifetime” and urged viewers to vote.

“Please grab your friends. Tell them to vote. If you believe in equality for women, for people of color, for the LGBTQ community. If you believe that climate change is real and that we need to do something about it, don’t let anyone tell you your vote won’t count,” Eichner said.

On Sunday, Swift took to social media to declare her support for a pair of Democrats — Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and Rep. Jim Cooper.

“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” she told her 112 million Instagram followers. “Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me.”

Swift opened the American Music Awards with a performance and took home the coveted Artist of the Year award. Other big winners included Camila Cabello, Post Malone, Migos, Young Thug, Cardi B, Rihanna, Khalid, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars, Kane Brown and the late XXXTentacion.

Hollyweird still believes we care about them: Stars launch "Glam Up the Midterms" to get millennials to vote

Because apparently this process – when election day is, how to register to vote, and who the candidates are – is too complicated for some people to figure out. Shouldn’t the public education system have taught millennials how this whole election thing works?
Hint: If millennials can’t access the internet to figure out the election process, maybe they shouldn’t be voting.
From Hollyweird Reporter: Funny or Die has commissioned Billy Eichner and other big-name comedians to encourage millennials to vote during the Nov. 6 midterm elections with the launch of the “Glam Up the Midterms” campaign.
“I had a dream last night that several small town Americans called me and were begging me to have more TV and film personalities lecture them about politics,“ Eichner said of the campaign. “So I’m here to answer their prayers!
According to an NBC news poll, only 12 percent of millennials voted in the last midterm election, something that Eichner wants to change by bringing various stars to districts across the country. Comedians participating in the campaign include James Corden, Sarah Silverman, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien, John Oliver, Robin Thede, Andy Cohen and Chelsea Handler.
In all seriousness, I have certainly skipped more than a few midterm elections in my day — and now I deeply regret it,” the Emmy-winning actor said. “So, after years of shouting at people on Billy on the Street, I’ve decided it’s time to use my voice to do some good and to encourage young people all across the country not to make the same mistakes I did. Say what you will about me, I have a lot of energy and I can’t wait to use it to help get out the vote and help ‘Glam Up The Midterms’ on Nov 6th!”
During former president Barack Obama’s term, Funny or Die helped raise awareness about Obamacare with the president’s appearance on Zach Galifianakis’ Between Two Ferns. Funny or Die indicated that Trump wasn’t as game as Obama or even former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who sat for a Between Two Ferns interview.
“Sadly, the former host of Celebrity Apprentice won’t return our phone calls,” Funny or Die DC’s head writer David Litt joked of Trump. “But we’ll be working with artists across the country to increase the number of Americans – especially young people – who vote in 2018.”
The campaign will work to convince voters under the age of 40 to fight for democracy and take the time to vote in November.
The “Glam Up the Midterms” portion starts at the 2:41 mark in the above video.

Hanoi Jane praises Colin Kaepernick: "Keep kneeling until you can't stand up!"

hanoi jane
One would expect this praise from the anti-American womyn.
From Hollywood Reporter: The ACLU of Southern California’s annual Bill of Rights awards gala Sunday evening was a star-studded affair with honorees such as Viola Davis, Gina Rodriguez, Jane Fonda and Judd Apatow, but it was Colin Kaepernick who received the loudest applause.
The NFL star took home the Eason Monroe Courageous Courage Award.
“He’s been viciously and unfairly criticized,” said ACLU Southern California’s executive director Hector Villagra. “He’s been called a traitor because too many people in this country confuse dissent for disloyalty. He took a stand knowing some would threaten him and he has had his life threatened which is why that we are profoundly honored to have him here [and] we didn’t publicize his presence tonight.”
When Kaepernick hit the stage, the audience jumped to its feet. “We must confront systematic oppression as a doctor would a disease. You identify it, you call it out, you treat and you defeat it. We all have an obligation no matter the risk and regardless of reward to stand up for fell men and women who are being oppressed with the understanding that human rights cannot be compromised. In the words of Frederick Douglas, ‘If there is a no struggle, there is no progress.'”
Kaepernick received a second standing ovation before Billy Eichner came on stage to present a Bill of Rights Award to Judd Apatow. “I have to follow Colin Kaerpernick?!” Eichner joked. “I didn’t even wear the ACLU ribbon at the Emmys because it didn’t match my tuxedo, which I feel terrible about now, by the way.”
Judd delivered more of a politically charged standup act than an acceptance speech, which included his hope that the alleged “pee tape” of President Donald Trump would be released.
“But if there is a pee tape then who becomes president? Mike Pence,” Apatow said. “Then we need another pee tape, maybe of Trump sitting next to Mike Pence. So, we need another pee tape because then who becomes the president? Paul Ryan… We basically need a tape of a Russian hooker urinating like a firehose on like 40 Republicans until we finally get Bernie Sanders.

Celebrities call for gun control in wake of Vegas shooting

celebrities and gun control
All these tweets came before all the details of the shooting, including weapons used, was even known. But they must push their gun control narrative.
Until these fools name a specific gun control law that isn’t on the books already (such as the Hughes Amendment) that would have prevented this shooting, I’m going to assume they are speaking out of their butts.
From Yahoo: In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history — a gunman firing on concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday and killing at least 58 people — celebrities are among the many fed-up Americans calling for better gun control laws.
Lady Gaga was one of the many to speak out on social media on Monday, declaring suspected gunman Stephen Paddock’s shooting spree an act of “terrorism, plain and simple” and asking “Democrats and Republicans” to “unite now” on gun control.
In one post, she called out President Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan directly, saying that “blood is on the hands of those who have the power to legislate.”
The singer also announced she’ll be holding a 20-minute “meditation/silence/prayer” later today on Instagram to provide some peace amid the chaos of the world.
Ariana Grande, whose Manchester, England, concert venue was the scene of another horrific mass shooting just months ago, also shared her thoughts. “My heart is breaking for Las Vegas,” wrote the singer. “We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.”
Julianne Moore has long been an outspoken advocate for gun violence awareness and she spoke out again today. “Today we mourn for Las Vegas, tomorrow we fight for them,” she wrote, while encouraging “everyone join the movement to end gun violence.”
Emmy Rossum, who described herself as “heartbroken” over the news, took to Twitter to tell her followers that prayers aren’t enough. She also demanded action from politicians and urged people to do the same. “I believe in prayer, but it’s not enough by itself,” she noted in one of several tweets on the topic. “We need better LAWS. In no world does a CIVILIAN need a MACHINE GUN. Let’s fix this.”
Jessica Chastain described it as “shameful that this keeps happening.”
Billy Eichner of Billy on the Street fame wasn’t mincing words either. He tweeted, “GUN CONTROL NOW. ENOUGH ALREADY. GROW THE FUCK UP. THE AVERAGE PERSON DOESN’T NEED A FUCKING MACHINE GUN. ENOUGH ALREADY. ENOUGH. ENOUGH.”
He also tweeted, “AND DON’T TALK ABOUT THE 2ND AMENDMFNT. THEY WEREN’T TALKING ABOUT AUTOMATIC WEAPONS & ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT NONSENSE IS ENABLING MASS MURDER.”
