Not a cult: Hillary Clinton Christmas tree topper is now available

Hypocrites: Hollyweird libtards lecture us about climate change at telethon

From Daily Mail: The A-list celebrities who starred in the telethon for those affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have clocked up hundreds of thousands of air miles which have fuelled rising temperatures and helped create devastating storms (the Daily Mail article will continue with this global warming theme; ignore they hypberbole).
Tuesday night’s Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief included performances and messages from Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, George Clooney, Cher and Leonardo DiCaprio. They appealed to viewers to donate to help fund relief efforts after the disastrous storms hit the southern US.
But a MailOnline investigation has revealed the extent to which stars have contributed to the catastrophic weather phenomenons with their jet-setting lifestyles.
Justin Bieber is calculated to have travelled at least 136,000 miles in a plane over the last year, environmentalist DiCaprio is believed to have done more than 87,000 miles while fellow actor Clooney did 61,000 miles.
Carbon emissions from plane journeys such as the celebrities’ cause the earth’s temperature to heat and the resulting higher ocean temperatures lead to more powerful hurricanes. The higher temperatures over land and sea mean the storms generate more energy.
Bieber was the biggest culprit, having flown on approximately 45 flights in the past 52 weeks. His longest flight was from Australia to the UK at the beginning of July having been down under on his Purpose World Tour. The 10,638-mile flight burned through a massive 1.8 tonnes of carbon dioxide alone in a year that stacked up against him in terms of his carbon footprint.
Trips to Germany, Dublin, Paris, Cape Town, Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro and to his homeland Canada meant he clocked up a staggering 136,947 air miles burning through 22.45 tonnes of CO2 since September 2016.
The average annual carbon dioxide emissions per person in America is 20 metric tons, compared to a world average of four tons.  This means without even considering the miles he chugs in his cars or the emissions caused by heating and cooling his many homes, Bieber is above the average consumption.
Staunch environmentalist hypocrite Leonardo DiCaprio has been jetting across the globe around twice a month in the past year. The actor flew around 87,609 miles on various business trips and jaunts around the world which burned up 14.8 tons of carbon dioxide. His longest trip was his return journey from California to the south of France where he enjoyed the iconic Cannes film festival.
In April, DiCaprio joined thousands of climate change protesters in Washington DC to mark President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office. Large crowds gathered on Pennsylvania Avenue for the People’s Climate March, an event that saw about 300 coinciding protests around the country, according to organizers.
The mercury rose to around 90F in DC, and protesters brought their own water bottles and sunscreen as they warned about the dangers of global warming.
Holding signs that read ‘There is no planet B’, and ‘Make Earth Great Again’, the protesters say they’re objecting to the president’s rollback of restrictions on mining, oil drilling and greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants, among other things.
George Clooney spent around 61,448 in the air since September last year which included a long trip to Italy this summer. He is thought to have flown 4,265 miles from Toronto to Los Angeles to attend Tuesday night’s Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief telethon at a cost of 720kg of CO2. His total air time meant his carbon emissions from flying alone was 10.31 tonnes of CO2.
Meanwhile, despite being pregnant with twins, Beyonce still managed to clock up 28,040 miles in 12 months burning through 4.55 tons of CO2. 
And at 71, Cher has been a relative homebird compared to the rest of her celebrity compatriots, only appearing to fly within the US in a total of 6,546.
The total emissions only takes into account the flights the celebrities have taken and is likely to be astronomic when driving, pollution from their concerts or films and the electric in their homes are considered.

From People Magazine: It’s been months since Beyoncé instructed us all to “get in formation.” Now, the supermogul is opening up about the powerful, symbolic and, to some, controversial message. “I mean, I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood,” the singer, 34, said in a new interview with Elle for their May issue. “But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken. I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. “But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things. If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me.

This year has been a busy one for Beyoncé. In just two months, the singer has dropped her new music video and song, delivered a show-stopping Super Bowl 50 halftime show performance, announced her world tour and, most recently, debuted her new clothing line, Ivy Park – “For me, it won’t be real until I see women at the gym, in the park, on the street wearing the collection, sweating in it, and loving it,” she said – (and her highly-anticipated album is expected to be released any day now). But the star is already thinking about the next phase of her career: creating art “that helps people heal.” In her effort to encourage and uplift fans, Queen Bey has been sure to display one of her particular passions: feminism.

It’s someone who believes in equal rights for men and women,” she told Elle noting that she featured the word and definition in her 2013 hit “Flawless” “not for propaganda … but to give clarity to the true meaning.”
“I don’t understand the negative connotation of the word, or why it should exclude the opposite sex. If you are a man who believes your daughter should have the same opportunities and rights as your son, then you’re a feminist.” She added: “Ask anyone, man or woman, ‘Do you want your daughter to have 75 cents when deserves $1?’ What do you think the answer would be?”

Sometime back in pre-history, Superbowl half time shows were not a predictable satanic ritual. And the commercials were not ruled by the vomitile secretions of GoDaddy and Victoria’s Secret. (Victoria was never any good at keeping secrets anyway.)
Well, this football fan will be practicing another kind of mind control, that will not involve watching the game. There are better things to think about than the poison on screen on Super Bowl Sunday:

Jay Z Bails Out Violent Protesters

Beyoncé and Jay Z wired ‘tens of thousands’ of dollars to bail out protesters in Baltimore and Ferguson, Mo., a writer says.
Jay Z and Beyoncé bankrolled protesters in Baltimore and Ferguson with tens of thousands of dollars in bail money, a writer and social activist close to him claimed.
“I can say I’ve personally helped facilitate donations they’ve given to protesters directly and that they never ask for anything in return, especially publicity,” author dream hampton told the Daily News in an email.
The writer, who collaborated on Jay Z’s book “Decoded,” first revealed the power couple’s behind-the-scenes support in a series of tweets on Sunday morning.
“When we needed money for bail for Baltimore protesters, I asked hit Jay up, as I had for Ferguson, wired tens of thousands in mins.” hampton wrote.

Colleges embrace pop-culture studies of stars like Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé

NY Daily News: Attention, students: You may now twerk hard and fall crazy in love in the classroom. Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé will be icons of academe this summer, with two area colleges offering seminars on the pop princesses.

At Rutgers University, all the single ladies (and other students, really) can put their hands up in “Feminist Perspectives: Politicizing Beyoncé,” a women’s and gender studies course starting Wednesday. The course covers the growth of Queen Bey’s media empire, with a special emphasis on how she manages her roles as a black icon and sex symbol with motherhood and marriage.

“She’s the most powerful black woman in entertainment and pop culture,” says Kevin Allred, the doctoral student who’s teaching the class. “She’s gotten more confrontational and more explicit when she’s talking about beauty and gender.”

Allred sees Beyoncé as perfect fodder for a women’s studies class because she is a modern ideal of feminism. Her commitment anthem, “Single Ladies,” and her collaboration with hubby Jay Z show she’s the rare star who advocates sexual magnetism as well as monogamy, Allred says. “Her music has always had strong implications for what it means to be a beautiful and strong woman today,” he says.

But Beyoncé is not the only multiplatform star who can teach a thing or two to today’s youth. Starting Tuesday, Skidmore College in upstate New York will offer “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus” to give pupils a crash course in the history of someone the same age they are.

In a career of less than a decade, Miss Miley has already proved herself “a useful primary document” for discussions of sex and power in media, teacher Carolyn Chernoff says.

Cyrus went from squeaky clean Disney star to dirty-minded diva strutting her stuff in every concert. She sparked debates about slut shaming, overt sexuality and the privileges of white stars — as when she borrowed twerking from hip-hop culture and brought it to last year’s Video Music Awards.

“She’s a really interesting case study for how someone can represent sex and gender while maturing in the public eye,” says Chernoff, a visiting assistant professor at Skidmore. “Miley is a work in progress, but you can already see such a complex narrative of how people talk about her unbridled sexuality.”

That kind of analysis is what separates popular publications like Entertainment Weekly from ponderous ones such as American Quarterly, the Journal of the American Studies Association.

“Sociologists have long talked about peeling back the layers to see what’s behind our social phenomena,” says Rik Scarce, chair of Skidmore’s sociology department, who said he had “no hesitation” in approving the Cyrus course.

“Miley Cyrus is a delivery device for themes of American life,” he adds. “When you say, ‘Miley Cyrus? Who cares about her?’ you shut down the very purpose of sociology.”

Of course, it’s not the first time that residents of the Ivory Tower have deigned to study pop culture. In fact, it’s become as widespread on campuses as binge drinking and all-nighters.

Film and television became accepted as worthy of academic study in the 1960s, followed by music when Dartmouth College started teaching Bob Dylan as part of its poetry courses in the 1970s.

But these days, the course load is increasingly likely to include music and other pop culture. Georgetown University decoded Jay Z in a sociology class, the University of South Carolina did the same for Lady Gaga, and New York University brought in Questlove for a Classic Albums course in which he considered the works of the Beastie Boys and Prince in the manner of long-loved works of literature.

But there’s a reason for all this genre bending: The mainstream material gives students an easy way into topics such as identity and social change that they otherwise might gloss over.

“Those classes use popular culture as the Trojan horse to sneak in education on other topics,” says Syracuse University media professor Robert Thompson, who taught “The Love Boat” in the ’80s as an example of how TV viewers love shows that don’t demand their full attention.

“If an academic were to responsibly look at Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé, he or she could scratch the surface of all kinds of really important things with who we are as a culture,” he says.

Students in these classes won’t just be tuning in for long lectures. Allred and Chernoff say they’ll show clips of the scholarly songstresses’ music videos and interviews, while citing less sexy theoretical writings. The classes will center on group discussions that bring it all together.

Beyoncé’s work will be accompanied by texts from black feminist writers, including activist bell hooks and abolitionist author Sojourner Truth. Miley will share the intellectual stage with sociologists like Laura Grindstaff and Joshua Gamson. (Who? Exactly!)

So pop scholars, check on it — these will be a true wrecking ball of critical theory. “This will be an intensive experience,” Chernoff says. “It’s just a different way of teaching sociology.”

Hypocrites: Jay Z, Beyonce release star-studded, high crime promo for On the Run Tour

Beyoncé and Jay Z proved to be showstoppers once again with the release of “Run.”

The Melina Matsoukas-directed short film, which debuted Sunday, sets the stage for what audiences can expect from the celeb couple’s upcoming On the Run Tour.

In true Bey and Jay fashion, the nearly 4-minute clip includes a star-studded lineup with the likes of Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Blake Lively, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum, Rashida Jones and her sister Kidada, and “Scandal’s” Guillermo Diaz.

The modern day Bonnie and Clyde tote guns, rob banks and run from the law while professing their undying love for one another.

While Penn acts as a mentor calming the wild antics of Jay Z, the outlaw, Cheadle and the hip-hop star conduct business together, but aren’t friends.

“I remember this one time when you told me that when the s–t gets bigger than the cat, get rid of the cat,” Hov says to Penn as they meet in a dark strip club. “I didn’t know what the f–k you were talking about, until right now.”

“Don’t get caught,” the 53-year-old “Gangster Squad” actor advises.

In another clip, the tension can easily be felt as Jay and Cheadle split the profits of dirty money in a hotel room. “You nervous man?” the “Holy Grail” rapper asks.

“Do I look nervous,” Cheadle, 49, answers defensively. “Are you hustling me?” The “House of Lies” star becomes angry and makes it clear that he’s not one to be messed with.

“What’s going on is that you come in here and you’re disrespecting me,” he said. “I don’t appreciate it.” “Unless you prepared to do something, don’t ask me no questions,” Jay responds.

Beyoncé graces Out magazine’s Power issue: ‘Women should own their sexuality’

NY Daily News: Beyoncé is on a power trip.

The Houston-born pop star has been on a campaign for women’s empowerment that apparently isn’t subsiding anytime soon.

“I’d like to believe that my music opened up that conversation,” Beyoncé, 32, tells Out magazine in an interview for its May Power issue, her first magazine feature since debuting her self-titled album in December.

“There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality.”

In addition to promoting sexual liberty for women in her songs, like “Partition” and strength in “Flawless,” Beyonce has been representing the national “#BanBossy” initiative.

“I’m not bossy — I’m the boss,” she says, in the new campaign ad, fronted by “Lean In” author Sheryl Sandberg and the Girl Scouts of America, designed to help girls develop self-esteem.

Being that I am a woman in a male-dominated society, the feminist mentality rang true to me and became a way to personalize that struggle,” she said.

Her interview with Out is not by chance either. Beyoncé told the magazine that she is aware of her status as an icon within the LGBT community.

“What I’m really referring to, and hoping for, is human rights and equality, not just that between a woman and a man,” she said.

“So I’m very happy if my words can ever inspire or empower someone who considers themselves an oppressed minority … We are all the same and we all want the same things: the right to be happy, to be just who we want to be and to love who we want to love.”

The “XO” singer also gave new details about the making of her top-selling fifth album, which she secretly released in December, including that she even recorded her latest single while sick.

“I was sick with a bad sinus infection,” she told the magazine. “I really loved the imperfections, so I kept the original demos.”

Quit playing the victim Beyoncé. Your “struggle” as a “feminist” in a “male-dominated society” hasn’t held you back. In fact it’s helped you become worth $350 million.
