Apple’s Global Security Chief indicted for bribing cops with iPads for gun permits

Gun control rules are for the peons.

Apple Security Chief Thomas Moyer

Apple’s security chief, Thomas Moyer, is accused of offering bribes to secure concealed carry permits for Apple security employees. According to MSNBC, a grand jury issued an indicment this past Monday.

According to MSNBC: Moyer allegedly promised to donate 200 iPads worth $70,000 to the Sheriff’s Office in exchange for four concealed weapons (CCW) permits “withheld from Apple employees,” according to a press release from the Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen.”

Also from their story: “The Santa Clara DA alleges that officials in the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s office, Undersheriff Rick Sung, and Captain James Jensen, were part of a scheme where they solicited bribes in exchange for easier approval of concealed carry permits. An insurance broker with political connections in San Jose was also charged with offering bribes in exchange permits on Monday.

Moyer’s attorney and Apple both issued statements claiming Moyer did nothing wrong.

Read the whole MSNBC story here.

Note: The iPads promised in donations were never fulfilled.

We’ll see how this plays out. Who knows what play-for-pay shenanigans goes on in California with local authorities who hold the power to deny citizens of their Second Amendment rights.

Big Tech hopes Biden wins: Apple lobbyists trying to water down China forced labor bill

According to the Washington Post (consider the source), Apple lobbyists are trying to weaken a bill aimed at preventing forced labor in China. This information comes from “two congressional staffers familiar with the matter.”

From the WaPo story:

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act would require U.S. companies to guarantee they do not use imprisoned or coerced workers from the predominantly Muslim region of Xinjiang, where academic researchers estimate the Chinese government has placed more than 1 million people into internment camps. Apple is heavily dependent on Chinese manufacturing.

Apple bigwigs have been speaking privately with staff working on the bill. Nothing has been publicly disclosed, of course.

It is known that the Chicoms violate human rights and use forced labor to build many products. The Los Angeles Times reported in March 2020 that Muslim-minority Uighurs have been sent from “reeducation” camps in China’s Xinjiang province to factories across China, where they are forced to make consumer goods for the world. This includes products for Apple, Adidas, Nike and Sony.

This was reported by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, which advises the Australian government. Read the whole LA Times story here.

So which lobbying firm is working with Apple to supposedly water down the forced labor bill as it is currently written? It’s Fierce Government Relations, aka FGR. Let’s take a look at FGR, shall we?

As with most lobbying firms in the swamp, it’s full of former politicians and bureaucrats who use their connections to buy access for their clients to achieve their goal$.

Meet some members of their team:

Kirk Blalock: Former Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and served as the National Chairman for Young Professionals for John McCain during the 2008 Presidential election.

Kirsten Chadwick: Served as Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs under George W. Bush.

Kate Hull: Served as Senior Legislative Assistant to Senator Tim Hutchinson (R-Arkansas). Before joining Hutchinson’s staff, she worked on the legislative staff of Senator Bill Cohen (R-Maine).

Aleix Jarvis: Joined FGR in February of 2005 after ten years on the staff of Senator Lindsey Graham.

You get the idea: FGR staff has connections that will certainly enable favorable results for clients such as Apple. And as with most lobbying efforts in the swamp, they benefit rich stakeholders, not most Americans.

If President Trump is unable to successfully win a second term at the SCOTUS, you can expect A LOT more lobbying efforts on behalf of big tech companies that do a lot of business with the Chicoms. Efforts that will no doubt benefit Big Tech interests instead of American citizens.

Tech Giants loom up as a threat to freedom

We have watched as software and media platforms we all use have morphed into a multi-headed monster.

I have enjoyed using all these things as tools vital to business and communication. But now we see them all overreaching their rights and authority to seize power over the people who use them.

Google and Apple conspire in secret pact to control the Internet

Google is a behemoth, controlling as much as 92% of internet web searches worldwide.

Finally, on October 20, 2020, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and 11 states filed a lawsuit against Google for violating anti-trust laws — the U.S. government’s biggest antitrust case in two decades.

It is noteworthy that all 11 states are red states in the 2016 presidential election: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, South Carolina, and Texas. The other states must not care about Google being a monopoly that stifles and impedes competition.

The DOJ’s press release of October 20, 2020 says:

As one of the wealthiest companies on the planet with a market value of $1 trillion, Google is the monopoly gatekeeper to the internet for billions of users and countless advertisers worldwide. For years, Google has accounted for almost 90 percent of all search queries in the United States and has used anticompetitive tactics to maintain and extend its monopolies in search and search advertising.

As alleged in the Complaint, Google has entered into a series of exclusionary agreements that collectively lock up the primary avenues through which users access search engines, and thus the internet, by requiring that Google be set as the preset default general search engine on billions of mobile devices and computers worldwide and, in many cases, prohibiting preinstallation of a competitor….

The Complaint alleges that Google’s anticompetitive practices have had harmful effects on competition and consumers. Google has foreclosed any meaningful search competitor from gaining vital distribution and scale, eliminating competition for a majority of search queries in the United States. By restricting competition in search, Google’s conduct has harmed consumers by reducing the quality of search (including on dimensions such as privacy, data protection, and use of consumer data), lessening choice in search, and impeding innovation. By suppressing competition in advertising, Google has the power to charge advertisers more than it could in a competitive market and to reduce the quality of the services it provides them. Through filing the lawsuit, the Department seeks to stop Google’s anticompetitive conduct and restore competition for American consumers, advertisers, and all companies now reliant on the internet economy.

In particular, the DOJ’s antitrust lawsuit targets a secret deal between Google and Apple, worth billions of dollars to both companies, by making Google the primary search engine on Apple’s devices.

According to the New York Times, the secret pact was first inked 15 years ago and has rarely been discussed by either company. 3½ years ago, Google and Apple renegotiated and renewed the secret deal, symbolized by the chief executives of the two companies, Google’s Sundar Pichai and Apple’s Tim Cook, having dinner together at an upscale Vietnamese restaurant, Tamarine, in Silicon Valley in Palo Alto, CA.

From the NYT:

Nearly half of Google’s search traffic now comes from Apple devices, according to the Justice Department….

Apple now receives an estimated $8 billion to $12 billion in annual payments — up from $1 billion a year in 2014 — in exchange for building Google’s search engine into its products. It is probably the single biggest payment that Google makes to anyone and accounts for 14 to 21 percent of Apple’s annual profits….

[A] senior Apple employee wrote to a Google counterpart that “our vision is that we work as if we are one company,” according to the Justice Department’s complaint.

A forced breakup could mean the loss of easy money to Apple. But it would be a more significant threat to Google, which would have no obvious way to replace the lost traffic….

The deal is not limited to searches in Apple’s Safari browser; it extends to virtually all searches done on Apple devices, including with Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri, and on Google’s iPhone app and Chrome browser.

A lucrative “secret pact”.

If the deal between Google and Apple were legitimate, there would be no need for secrecy.

The dictionary defines conspiracy as a “plot”; “an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons.

But we are told there are no conspiracies, and that those who think there are conspiracies are tinfoil hat-wearing “conspiracy theorists”….

Why Big Tech wants to access your medical records

No surprise that this is happening.

And no surprise why people feel less inclined to share with their doctors any true information about their medical status (think VA).

Obama dines with President Trump-basher De Niro and Chicom-lover Tim Cook

The Daily Mail reports that former President Obama had dinner with TDS-infected actor Robert De Niro and Apple CEO Tim Cook.

From their story:

Former US president Barack Obama met acting legend and vociferous Donald Trump critic Robert De Niro and Apple CEO Tim Cook for dinner in New York on Monday evening. The trio spent several hours eating together at Yves Restaurant in Tribeca.

Left-leaning De Niro campaigned for Obama as president in 2008 and has consistently expressed his support for the former leader.

He has previously stated that Donald Trump ‘should not be president, period’. De Niro infamously gave a speech at the 2018 Tony Awards during which he declared: ‘I’m gonna say one thing. F*** Trump.’

Read the whole puff piece here.

Gee, wonder if Obama and De Niro discussed the lawsuit De Niro is facing in which a female employee charges De Niro with creepy and abusive behavior. The abusive behavior includes leaving her voicemails threatening “you’re f—ing history” and calling her a “bitch” and a “brat.”

And I wonder if Obama and Chicom-lover Tim Cook discussed Cook’s appointment as chairman of the advisory board for Tsinghua University’s economics school in Beijing. This is the same Cook who has come under fire over Apple’s decision to remove an app that let Hong Kong protesters track police movements in the territory, kowtowing to Chinese censors.

Or maybe Obama and Cook discussed the Muslim prisoners in China’s concentration camps who are reportedly subjected to gang rape and medical experiments?

Great dining companions there, Obama. Really impressive.

Are you paid unfairly because you’re a woman? Jennifer Newsom wants you to complain

Jennifer Newsom wants to lift up everyone…

Perpetual victimhood is not a good look…

From Sacramento Bee: If you’re a woman who’s not being paid as much as your male colleagues, Jennifer Siebel Newsom wants you to complain.

In the first big initiative she’s undertaken since her husband Gavin Newsom became governor, Siebel Newsom on Monday launched a campaign to narrow the gender pay gap in California by educating employers on how to pay workers fairly and telling employees how to report companies that break the rules.

Siebel Newsom says uplifting women and girls is her priority as California’s first partner, the title she uses instead of first lady.

“When we lift up women, we lift up everyone,” she said. “It’s time to close the gap.”

How liberals “lift up women”

She’s leading the Equal Pay California campaign alongside Time’s Up, a group formed amid the #MeToo movement to advocate gender equality in the workplace, and the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. It’s aimed at promoting compliance with a state law that took effect in 2016 that strengthened California’s equal pay protections.

California has the smallest gender pay gap in the country, according to the American Association of University Women, but women in the state still make roughly 89 cents for every dollar men make.

Despite California’s progress, Siebel Newsom and others involved with the campaign say the state needs to do more to close the gap.

California has had equal pay protections for decades, but the laws weren’t strong enough, said state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, a Santa Barbara Democrat who wrote the new law that took effect in 2016.

It says employers can’t pay female workers less than male colleagues who do “substantially similar” work, a provision aimed at helping women prove discrimination even if their male counterparts have different job titles. It also bans retaliation against employees for discussing their wages and puts the burden on employers to show they pay men and women equitably.

“Paying women less than men for substantially similar work is a form of wage theft,” California Labor Secretary Julie Su said. “Passing good laws is not the finish line. It puts us at the start of a great race and enforcement is how we win.”

The new campaign is promoting a website with resources for companies, such as guidelines on how to set equitable wages. For employees, it includes information on how to report employers that don’t pay equitable wages to the state, or file a lawsuit against them.

Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker with a long history of advocating feminist causes, announced the campaign at an event at the Capitol on Monday morning, where she also endorsed a paid family leave bill in the Legislature.

How liberals “lift up women”

She touted commitments from 13 California businesses, including Apple and AT&T, to conduct their own internal reviews of their pay practices.

“I believe that there are incredible companies in this state who want to do good and want to do better,” Siebel Newsom said. “Now they have the tools, the resources and no excuses.”

People are using an app to report sexual assault anonymously

JDoe app

What could possibly go wrong?

Seems to me that due process is becoming a thing of the past in this #MeToo era.

From NY Post: In the wake of #MeToo, more than 1,000 people have downloaded an app aimed at rooting out repeat sex offenders by allowing victims and witnesses to report the crimes anonymously and join forces against the sickos.

Called JDoe, the free app launched on the Apple and Android app store in April. It works by prompting users to report when and where an incident took place, along with the name of the perpetrator and any details of the crime.

The information is then stored in an encrypted database. Users cannot see the names of other victims or of perpetrators, but the app’s algorithm scans for patterns. If a repeat offender turns up, accusers receive separate notifications along with information on pursuing joint legal action through JDoe’s network of attorneys, if they desire.

There’s no need to wait for other victims to surface, however. JDoe also provides a way for users to anonymously report individual incidents to police or legal services providers.

In either scenario, the accused are not notified through the app that they have been reported.

Company founder and CEO Ryan Soscia, 24, says he began developing JDoe in 2015, shortly after learning that a group of teammates and friends had been assaulted by the same trainer.

“What we [at JDoe] really try to focus on is enabling people to pursue justice together,” Soscia tells The Post. “We’re trying to democratize legal services.”

He describes the app’s identity encryption as something “Edward Snowden would approve of.”

As the app’s user base grows, Soscia plans to develop a map feature that visually displays incident reports. His team is also working on a feature that will alert users if they enter an area with multiple incident reports.

In addition, Soscia plans to grow the app’s survivor-support services such as referrals for mental health care providers. “We’re looking to provide almost a Yelp-like service,” he says.

“There’s power in realizing you’re not alone,” he says. “And that could be powerful throughput for the justice system.”
